Trump: Did I Miss Something?

Dammit!  I do wish there was more to write about than Trump…..unfortunately he is the only candidate that is making news these days……

I have been following the doings with the 2016 election and of course it would be difficult to follow it without having to be exposed to the ramblings of Donald Trump.

First, I see the FOX’s Megyn Kelly has returned to work and Trump had nothing good to say about her….the Roger Ailes speaks up and says that Trump owes her an apology…..and back and forth…..to me this is all just a ratings game….the more crap they throw the more some will tune in to follow the continuing saga….this I understand.  The popularity of Trump eludes me.

Back to the jest of this post…..

I see so many people that take what this person says as the gospel or something equally as sacred……and I have not paid mush attention to all that he has to say……but with all the excitement over him as a candidate I decided to watch one of his outings in Iowa to see if I could get an idea of his popularity.

I listened and all I heard was a person rambling on and on….kinda made me think of the rambling rant of Qaddafi at the UN about 10 years ago (please I am not equating Bush with the Middle East Mad Man just talking about a speech that made little sense)…..I learned the he loves Mexicans and the Chinese people and then belittles them……he is really smart……he knows people……all in all self-promotion.  I realize that all politicians are egotistical wankers but Mr. Trump is taking that egotism to new heights….

He bitches about many things, like most Americans, but he offers nothing in the process that resembles a solution to anything.  Eventually, once the election primaries begin for real, he will have to offer more as a solution then he is really smart, really rich and knows people.

Trump and Sanders are tapping into a populist trend among Americans……most of us are fed up with the idle promises of those we elect and once in Washington they play games and waste time…..Sanders unlike Trump at least talks about issues and even seem to have a few solutions up his sleeve.  I think if Trump wants to be as successful as he seems to think he is…..he will have to offer solutions other than build a really big wall and the people he knows……

For now he, Trump, is telling the conservative voter everything they want to hear……but how long will his ramblings be attractive to these people?  Eventually, I think, they will want to hear how he will achieve all the things he bitches about…….

Or is it possible that I may have missed something?

What the Hell is his problem with Oreos?

  1. You haven’t missed anything at all and if Trump is smart he probably already has a cadre of experts formulating detailed plans for how he intends to address issues because if he is brash and bold and loud and if he has attracted this much attention so far, he is certainly aware that he is going to have to “Produce” ideas before time goes on …. I think he knows how to cover all the bases and I think he has people already working on “His Agenda” and plenty of explanations about how he wants to see things go if he is elected.

I think Trump is one who plays to win and I think he knows how many chess pieces are on the board and what moves need to be made to construct winning strategy. He may play a losing game in the end but I am sure he knows what he thinks is needed to get where he wants to go.

And — Oh by the way …. Trump is appealing to a growing number people from the left as well as from the right. He is not dumb enough to try to play all his cards to one base. I think he wants to be the ultimate populist.

I like the idea that Trump is seen as having taken ego to new heights. If he is to have any chance at winning anything at all in this cycle he is definitely going to have to out-ego the entire field of clowns competing against him — which shouldn’t be too difficult when you think about it.

Yes, sooner or later he will have to come up with explanations about the things he bitches about but if anybody has the resources to do that with I think Trump is the one who can get his hands on whatever it takes and I think he is aware that he will be challenged in this manner sooner or later — and if he doesn’t then we have at least been entertained.

I do not actually think he will win the Presidency however. I think we need somebody far more corrupt to achieve that goal.

  2. (Note: As previously mentioned, talking about Trump doesn’t violate my vow not to talk about 2016 until 2016 because I still firmly believe Trump will not be there come Iowa.)

“The popularity of Trump eludes me.”

Even though I pay as little attention to The Douchebag as possible, I could go on for days analysing Trump and our obsession with him. The simplest way to describe him is as a J.R. Ewing character, a man we love to hate. Just take out the Southern Charm and replace it with loads of NY/NJ abrasive attitude.

      1. Sure.

And since, like J.R. Ewing, he inherited the empire his father built and also spawned a “Junior” of his own (John Ross/Don Trump Jr)…The ego. The bombastic quotables. The ladies. The glam. It all just adds to the comparison.
