Covid-19 Was There A Better Way?

Closing Thought–31Aug20

6 million cases…..183,000 deaths…just to catch everybody up.

We have heard all the arguments on what is right or wrong with the social distancing thing to help save us from the pandemic.

In all fairness I try to give a balanced look at the pandemic and the treatments and “solutions”…..I would expect the WSJ to NOT approve of anything that would see a drop in retail sales……and as if right on cue….

In response to the novel and deadly coronavirus, many governments deployed draconian tactics never used in modern times: severe and broad restrictions on daily activity that helped send the world into its deepest peacetime slump since the Great Depression.
The equivalent of 400 million jobs have been lost world-wide, 13 million in the U.S. alone. Global output is on track to fall 5% this year, far worse than during the financial crisis, according to the International Monetary Fund.
Despite this steep price, few policy makers felt they had a choice, seeing the economic crisis as a side effect of the health crisis. They ordered nonessential businesses closed and told people to stay home, all without the extensive analysis of benefits and risks that usually precedes a new medical treatment.
There wasn’t time to gather that sort of evidence: Faced with a poorly understood and rapidly spreading pathogen, they prioritized saving lives.

Shoulda….woulda…..coulda…..what is they say about hindsight……

Who Was America’s First Donald Trump?

America has a long history of people bitching about all those immigrants….about the Chinese, Irish, Italian, Cuban, Vietnamese, on and on…there is nothing really special about the “dislike” of immigrants.   Trump was not the first and I am sure that he will not be the last bigot in office.

But can we point to the first Trump-esque American in our society?

Yes we can….and his name was….Lewis Charles Levin in Philadelphia…..the year is 1844……and the movement has been simmering for over 150 years……

On a stormy Monday afternoon in the spring of 1844, a stout, well-built, 35-year-old Philadelphia newspaper editor ascended a makeshift podium assembled from a stack of packing boxes. Surrounded by some three thousand of his fervent supporters – butchers, grocers, carpenters and craftsman, many armed for this occasion – Lewis Charles Levin had come to the main market in Philly’s heavily Irish-Catholic neighborhood of Kensington. He was there to rail against the rising tide of Catholic immigrants taking jobs from proud Pennsylvania-born Protestants, and the resulting “consequence upon American liberty” he vowed would surely come of admitting even more foreigners.

The Donald Trump of the 1840s

Learn more about our first “Trump-esque”……https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/news/articles/lewis-levin-wasnt-nice

Levin was a son of immigrant Jew from England…..

Levin was born on Nov. 10, 1808, in Charleston, South Carolina, to parents who had immigrated from England. Charleston was then home to about 700 Jews, which was enough to make it the largest community of Jews in the United States.

Over the next 30 years, Levin pursued at least three careers in at least five states, maybe more. He spent two years in Columbia, South Carolina, attending college and running a dry goods store. He next became a schoolmaster, starting one school in Cincinnati, and then, a year later, another one in Woodville, Mississippi. He next moved to Vicksburg, then Nashville, then Baltimore, probably with sojourns in Kentucky and Louisiana as well. Along the way he learned enough law to call himself “L. C. Levin, Esq.,” though what legal training he received, and even what bars admitted him, remain obscure.

Probably Levin is best known for being the first leader of the Know Nothing Party.

About here…unless you are a strong student of American history then this means little…..

The Know-Nothing Party, also known as the American Party, was a prominent United States political party during the late 1840s and the early 1850s.

The American Party originated in 1849. Its members strongly opposed immigrants and followers of the Catholic Church. The majority of white Americans followed Protestant faiths. Many of these people feared Catholics because members of this faith followed the teachings of the Pope. The Know-Nothings feared that the Catholics were more loyal to the Pope than to the United States. More radical members of the Know-Nothing Party believed that the Catholics intended to take over the United States of America. The Catholics would then place the nation under the Pope’s rule. The Know-Nothing Party intended to prevent Catholics and immigrants from being elected to political offices. Its members also hoped to deny these people jobs in the private sector, arguing that the nation’s business owners needed to employ true Americans.

https://ohiohistorycentral.org/w/Know-Nothing_Party

The Know Nothing Party reshaped American politics so much that it is still felt today.

Like Fight Club, there were rules about joining the secret society known as the Order of the Star Spangled Banner (OSSB). An initiation rite called “Seeing Sam.” The memorization of passwords and hand signs. A solemn pledge never to betray the order. A pureblooded pedigree of Protestant Anglo-Saxon stock and the rejection of all Catholics. And above all, members of the secret society weren’t allowed to talk about the secret society. If asked anything by outsiders, they would respond with, “I know nothing.”

So went the rules of this secret fraternity that rose to prominence in 1853 and transformed into the powerful political party known as the Know Nothings. At its height in the 1850s, the Know Nothing party, originally called the American Party, included more than 100 elected congressmen, eight governors, a controlling share of half-a-dozen state legislatures from Massachusetts to California, and thousands of local politicians. Party members supported deportation of foreign beggars and criminals; a 21-year naturalization period for immigrants; mandatory Bible reading in schools; and the elimination of all Catholics from public office. They wanted to restore their vision of what America should look like with temperance, Protestantism, self-reliance, with American nationality and work ethic enshrined as the nation’s highest values.

Middle East Will Need Attention

After November no matter who wins the election the Middle East will need more attention…..because it is going to crap as I type…..

Just look at the special deal the Kushner worked out for the Middle East….it is s couple months old and already going to crap….

n the heels of the historic normalization of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, news leaked of a secret clause engineered by President Donald Trump’s senior adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner to sell billions of dollars worth of advanced U.S. weaponry, including drones and F-35 stealth fighter jets, to the United Arab Emirates. Israel has longed opposed sales of strategic weapons systems to other countries in the Middle East.

State Department officials and aides from relevant congressional committees told CNN they had not been notified of such a deal, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denounced the rumored sale as “fake news.

Kushner’s Transactional Middle East Strategy is Already Showing Strain

It is time to change the paradigm in the Middle East……US needs to halt any further attempts to dominate the region…..

Conventional wisdom holds that the presence of United States forces in the Middle East makes America and the region more secure. To the contrary, the U.S. military’s large footprint in the region, combined with voluminous U.S. arms sales and support for repressive regimes, drives instability and exacerbates grievances and conditions that threaten the United States. This presence has made Americans less safe and undermined U.S. standing abroad; it also leaves America less prepared to address more dangerous nonmilitary challenges such as pandemics and climate change, as the Covid–19 crisis makes clear.

Given the manifest failure of the current strategy, growing calls for a demilitarized approach to the region should come as no surprise. However, translating concepts of military restraint into practical policy requires sustained effort. This paper is intended to move the debate forward by operationalizing a holistic approach to the region based on a narrow definition of vital U.S. interests, in accordance with a foreign policy centered on military restraint and responsible statecraft.

U.S. policy toward the Middle East should be guided by two core interests: Protect the United States from attack; and facilitate the free flow of global commerce.

A New U.S. Paradigm for the Middle East: Ending America’s Misguided Policy of Domination

Trump is threatening to bring our troops in Iraq home….or well at least move them out…..earlier this month (August)…..

The US-led coalition in Iraq has withdrawn the last of its forces from Camp Taji, a base near Iraq’s capital Baghdad that has been the target of recent rocket attacks. The coalition handed control of the base to Iraqi security forces, along with $347 million in military equipment.

The anti-ISIS coalition dubbed Operation Inherent Resolve is hailing the move as a success and says it is part of a “long-range” plan with the Iraqi government.

“Camp Taji has historically held up to 2,000 Coalition members, with the majority departing over the summer of 2020,” the coalition said in a statement released on Sunday. The statement said the force was made up of a Spanish helicopter battalion and “military trainers” from Australia, Canada, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Turkey, the UK, the US, and NATO.

It is not clear if the forces withdrawing from Camp Taji are leaving Iraq entirely, or if they are just being redeployed in the country. Currently, there are about 5,000 US troops in Iraq and an additional 2,500 from other countries that are part of the coalition.

This Could Make One Crap One’s Pants

We have all seen the comedic thing when the guys and gals are in the morgue and a body sits up and everyone falls over themselves running…..right?

What would really happen if this situation happened in real life?

Wonder why I ask?

Authorities in Detroit are investigating a bizarre and scary mistake: A young woman was declared dead before employees at a funeral home realized she was still alive, reports WDIV. This began unfolding about 7:30am Sunday when the Southfield Fire Department responded to a call about an unresponsive female. (She has been identified as a 20-year-old by some authorities and as a 14-year-old by others, notes the Detroit News; the details should become clearer later.) After 30 minutes of CPR and other measures, paramedics concluded she was dead. “Because there was no indication of foul play, as per standard operating procedure, the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office was contacted and given the medical data,” says a Southfield Fire Department statement.

“The patient was again determined to have expired and the body was released directly to the family to make arrangements,” the statement continues. The James H. Cole Funeral Home in Detroit says it was contacted to pick up the body and did so after getting clearance from the medical examiner’s office, per the News. Staff at the funeral home then discovered the woman was still breathing, reports MLive. “We couldn’t believe it,” says Dave Fornell, deputy commissioner of the Detroit Fire Department, which responded to the funeral home. The woman was taken to the hospital, and no information has been released about her condition.

Which One Will It Be?

Mississippi is in the process of choosing a new state flag to replace the tired old relic from the Old South….

As Mississippi replaces its former flag that had the Confederate battle emblem, five proposals were literally run up a flagpole Tuesday. A group then narrowed the choice to two designs: One with a shield and one with a magnolia. “When you fly a flag up a flagpole, it sure does look different than it does on paper,” said the chairman of the nine-member flag commission, former state Supreme Court Justice Reuben Anderson. Commissioners will choose a single design next week, and that will go on the Nov. 3 ballot for voters to accept or reject, the AP reports. By law, the old flag with the Confederate battle emblem is not an option, and the replacement cannot have the emblem that’s widely condemned as racist. Legislators also mandated that the new flag include the phrase, “In God We Trust.”

Each of the final designs contains a single star made of diamond shapes to represent the Native American people who lived in Mississippi before others arrived. The magnolia design has 21 stars, with one representing the Choctaws, Chickasaws and other tribes, and the others representing Mississippi as the 20th state. If a majority of those voting in the November election accept the lone design, it will become the new state flag. If they reject it, the design process will begin again and another design will go on the ballot later. The final five designs were: the shield with wavy lines representing water; one with the Mississippi River snaking along the state’s western border, plus a magnolia blossom; one with a magnolia blossom on a white background; one with the magnolia blossom on a dark blue background; and one with a stylized magnolia tree.

And now the final two…..

Commissioners will choose a single design next week, and that will go on the Nov. 3 ballot for voters to accept or reject.

The Mississippi Department of Archives and History is putting the designs online so people — inside or outside the state — can vote on their favorite. But the online voting is not binding. Commissioners can choose their own favorite to put on the ballot.

If a majority of those voting in the November election accept the lone design, it will become the new state flag. If they reject it, the design process will begin again and another design will go on the ballot later.

Which will it be…..Contestant Number One?

Or Contestant Number Two?

No. One looks like a corporate flag….so since Mississippi is the Magnolia State I vote for No. Two.

Which do you think will be the winner?   Of the two I like No.2 better…..No. 1 looks like a corporate flag or something like that…..

Remember Top Gun?

The weekend and the search for news and thoughts that can be of interest to my readers…..

Off we go into the wild blue yonder……

The movie made about the elite and unbeatable Air Aces from the schools in the US…..I mean it was so important and influential that there is a sequel in the process.

But recently there is some sad news for this program…..there seems these “Top Guns” have been beaten……there claim to fame is no longer.

No it was not Russian that beat them…..or the Chinese…..then who could possibly be that good?

It’s official: The robots are taking over.

Not quite. But in a significant development on August 20, an artificial intelligence (AI) program managed to defeat a human F-16 pilot in simulated dogfights. The AI program, designed by tech firm Heron Systems, was pitched against the human pilot in an environment resembling an elaborate video game during the third and final event of the AlphaDogfight trials organized by U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).

Heron System’s website notes that the program was based on deep reinforcement learning – an AI technique that combines insights from behavioral psychology with how the human cortex is structured and functions – along with unspecified innovations. The bested human operator, publicly known only by their callsign, “Banger,” was reported to have been trained at the Weapons School at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada.

https://thediplomat.com/2020/08/ai-defeats-human-pilot-in-darpa-organized-dogfight/

Don’t look now but this is just another step into the future and the prediction of “Skynet”.

Oh the horror!

Will that mean the cancellation of the Top Gun sequel?  (Sarcasm)

In case anyone is interested……

Heron, a small, female- and minority-owned company with offices in Maryland and Virginia, builds artificial intelligence agents, and is also a player in DARPA’s Gamebreaker effort to explore tactics for disrupting enemy strategies using real-world games as platforms. The company beat eight other teams, including one led by defense giant Lockheed Martin — which came in second in the AlphaDogfight “semi-finals” that pitted the AI pilots against each other this morning.

Congrats Ladies!  Job well done!

Killer Katrina

15 years ago today Hurricane Katrina roared ashore killing and destruction of all in its path…..My father and I rode the storm out in our house since he refused to leave his house I had no choice but to stay with him since he was in a wheelchair and make sure he was alright.

The storm lasted 13 hours and 43 minutes….you cannot imagine how long that felt.

August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast of the United States. When the storm made landfall, it had a Category 3 rating on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale–it brought sustained winds of 100–140 miles per hour–and stretched some 400 miles across.

https://www.history.com/topics/natural-disasters-and-environment/hurricane-katrina

Here are a few things that most people that were not effected by the storm know…..

Hurricane Katrina was the largest and 3rd strongest hurricane ever recorded to make landfall in the US.

In New Orleans, the levees were designed for Category 3, but Katrina peaked at a Category 5 hurricane, with winds up to 175 mph.

The final death toll was at 1,836, primarily from Louisiana (1,577) and Mississippi (238). More than half of these victims were senior citizens. Keep seniors safe and sound, and help them plan for hurricane season.

The storm surge from Katrina was 20-ft (six meters) high.

705 people are reported as still missing as a result of Hurricane Katrina.

Hurricane Katrina affected over 15 million people in different ways varying from having to evacuate their homes, rising gas prices, and the economy suffering.

An estimated 80% of New Orleans was under water, up to 20 ft deep in places.

Hurricane Katrina caused $81 billion in property damages, but it is estimated that the total economic impact in Louisiana and Mississippi may exceed $150 billion, earning the title of costliest hurricane ever in US history

Hurricane Katrina impacted about 90,000 square miles.

The region affected by the storm supported roughly 1 million non-farm jobs, and still, hundreds of thousands of local residents were left unemployed by the hurricane.

More than 70 countries pledged monetary donations or other assistance after the hurricane. Kuwait made the largest single pledge of $500 million, but Qatar, India, China, Pakistan and Bangladesh made very large donations as well.

My family has ridden out two of the most powerful storms in history…..Camille and Katrina…..for those too young to remember 1969….may I help you out?

August 17 in 1969, Hurricane Camille made landfall along the Mississippi Gulf Coast near Waveland, MS. Camille is one of only FOUR Category 5 hurricanes ever to make landfall in the continental United States (Atlantic Basin)

Camille ranks as the 2nd most intense hurricane to strike the continental US with 900 mb pressure and landfall intensity of 150 knots. Camille ranks just below the 1935 Labor Day Hurricane with 892 mb and 160 knots, while slightly stronger than Hurricane Andrew with 922 mb and 145 knots and Hurricane Michael with 919 mb and 140 knots. The actual maximum sustained winds of Hurricane Camille are not known as the hurricane destroyed all the wind-recording instruments in the landfall area. Re-analysis data found peak winds of 150 knots (roughly 175 mph) along the coast. A devastating storm tide of 24.6 feet occurred west of our area in Pass Christian, MS.

And now we have dodged a bullet this time…..but there is always another storm eyeing the Mississippi Gulf Coast…..

Congress–WTF?

Closing Thought–28Aug20

I read the other day about a bill that sailed through the Congress for money to be sent to Israel….

It made me say out loud…WTF?

The US is sending almost $4 billion to Israel for their defense.

Again—WTF?

Pro-Israel group thanks an array of Democrats and Republicans for authorizing funding, saying the money ‘will help Israel protect itself against continuing security threats’

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee praised the Senate and the House of Representatives for authorizing $3.8 billion in defense assistance for Israel.

The pro-Israel lobbying group thanked an array of Democrats and Republicans in Congress for shepherding through the funding this week as part of the National Defense Authorization Act, saying the money “will help Israel protect itself against continuing security threats.”

https://www.timesofisrael.com/aipac-praises-3-8b-in-israel-defense-assistance-after-it-sails-through-congress/

Is Israel not strong enough to defend itself from protesters with rocks?

If Israel cannot defend itself why do the American taxpayer have to pay for their defense?

If they cannot make their own way in this world then they deserve to perish.

Any debt that the US owes Israel was paid in full over the last 60 years….time for them to stand on their own two feet or fall on their face….

The US should not have to pay Israel a dime….it is money pissed away with NO redeeming qualities.

When will Americans start demanding that Israel stay out of our politics and our government…..they have had a free hand in both for too many goddam years.  Time for them to focus on settling their problems and stay away from our politicians…..and those same politicians that take money from Israel should be banned from Congress and political life forever.

Israel is NO friend to the US…..they use us and our money for evil…..time for that to stop!

2020 GOP Convention–Day 4

Three down and one final day for the RNC and the GOP give a scenario for a united and secure nation….(spoiler alert:  they failed)

Tonight Trump will officially accept the nomination of the GOP as the candidate for president in 2020…..but not before the array of ass kissers……

Let me close down the posts on this convention…..broadcast news is sparse for the Hurricane has sucked all the oxygen out of news reports other than the storm.

And the night went like this…..

President Trump closed out the Republican National Convention Thursday night by formally accepting the Republican nomination for president, which he did from the White House—the AP calls this the first political convention ever to be held there, and CNN notes Trump’s was one of the longest acceptance speeches ever given. The end of the evening also included fireworks on the National Mall (some of them spelling out “Trump” and “2020”) and a performance by opera singer Christopher Macchio from the Blue Room balcony. Among Trump’s acceptance speech pledges was to put the first woman on the moon, a promise he made after touting his administration’s commitment to space exploration. More from his speech and the rest of the convention’s final night:

  • Trump’s speech lasted more than 70 minutes, NBC News reports. As expected, it also included digs on Joe Biden (he called him a “Trojan horse for socialism,” among other things), calls for law and order (he said “mob rule” must never be allowed), and a rosy outlook on the coronavirus pandemic and coming vaccine.
  • Others aligned with law enforcement also spoke during the night, and echoed Trump’s calls for law and order and the end of violent protests.
  • The AP reports hundreds of protesters gathered near the White House for a “noise demonstration and dance party,” hoping to drown out Trump’s speech, but there was no indication Trump heard them.
  • Trump was introduced by daughter Ivanka, who worked to humanize the president in her speech. “I recognize that my dad’s communication style is not to everyone’s taste. And I know his tweets can feel a bit unfiltered,” she said. But “I’ve been with my father and I’ve seen the pain in his eyes when he receives updates on the lives that have been stolen by this plague.”
  • Rudy Giuliani, the president’s personal attorney, suggested that Black Lives Matter, along with antifa, is pushing Biden to “execute their pro-criminal, anti-police policies” and had “hijacked the protests into vicious, brutal riots.” The AP fact-checks this (there’s no evidence of Giuliani’s claim), as well as several other claims made during the night, here.
  • Alice Johnson, the grandmother whose drug sentence was commuted by Trump said his criminal justice reforms are “just getting started” and that his First Step Act “brought joy, hope and freedom to thousands of well-deserving people.”
  • Housing Secretary Ben Carson, the highest-ranking Black member of the Trump administration, offered his sympathies to the family of Jacob Blake, who was shot seven times in the back by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
  • UFC head Dana White said Trump is the man to get the economy back on track after it was ravaged by the pandemic; he specifically mentioned the president’s commitment to bringing back sports safely.
  • Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton said, per the Hill, that Biden has been “wrong on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades.”
  • One line from Mitch McConnell: The Democrats “want to tell you what kind of car you can drive. What sources of information are credible. And even how many hamburgers you can eat.” That’s a reference to the mistaken belief that proponents of the Green New Deal would limit beef consumption.

For me the most memorable moment or should I say “line”……

“I stand before you tonight honored by your support, proud of the extraordinary progress we have made together over the last four incredible years and brimming with confidence for the bright future we will build for America over the next four years,” he said. Think of Trump’s speech as the sequel to his 2016 acceptance speech, in which he memorably declared, “I alone can fix it.”

Trump did nothing but move his mouth…..his rambling talk went on for over an hour……and hour that none of us can ever get back…..but beyond that he talked and yet said nothing to give the voter confidence that the country can be saved from itself.

Where were the deficit hawks?  Fiscal conservs were NO where to be heard.

According to CNN’s Chirs Cillizza…..

Now, there’s an element of this sort of gush-fest in every political convention. The goal of these four-day affairs is to shape an image of the president (or presidential nominee) that is appealing to the broadest swath of people. Voters, as history has repeatedly proven, tend to pick a president based in large part on how that person makes them feel. Are they proud of that president? Does he seem like the sort of person who understands their hopes, fears and desires? All that sort of stuff.

But never before — at least in the modern history of politics — have we seen a party that is so dedicated to blindly following a president, and abandoning many of the bedrock principles upon which it once stood. There was nary a word on Monday night about the ballooning federal deficit. The social conservative wing of the party was also practically nonexistent.

Mercifully the GOP Convention is over……and now the real circus begins in earnest.

QAnon–WTF Is QAnon?

Holy crap in the last couple of years the media has been reporting on QAnon this and QAnon that….mainly because Trump seems to have this love affair going on with this far Right group of idiots.

You see he thinks they like him and that is all it takes for praise…..

President Trump addressed the QAnon conspiracy theory for the first time Wednesday—and he offered what the Hill calls “measured praise” for supporters of a fringe group labeled a potential domestic terrorist threat by the FBI. “I don’t know much about the movement besides that they like me very much, which I appreciate,” Trump said during a White House press briefing, per Politico. He described QAnon followers as “people that don’t like seeing what’s going in places like Portland and Chicago” and added: “I heard these are people that love our country.” Trump has previously ignored questions about the conspiracy theory, Fox reports. Last week, Trump praised Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has expressed support for QAnon, after she won a GOP primary runoff in Georgia.

The Guardian reports that Trump “replied flippantly” when a reporter told him QAnon followers believe he is “secretly saving the world from this Satanic cult of pedophiles and cannibals.” “Is that supposed to be a bad thing or a good thing?” Trump said. “If I can help save the world from problems, I am willing to do it. I’m willing to put myself out there.” Analysts say the president’s remarks are likely to embolden QAnon followers. “Condemning this movement should not be difficult,” Jonathan A. Greenblatt, chief executive of the Anti-Defamation League, tells the New York Times. “It’s downright dangerous when a leader not only refuses to do so, but also wonders whether what they are doing is ‘a good thing.'”

Donald the Orange loves this group…….but what do you know about QAnon?

We hear about them every week or so but what is actually known?  Has any of the media attempted to explain what or who this group of racist extremists are?

Well if not then you may depend on the Old Professor to fill in some blanks….

QAnon is a wide-ranging, unfounded conspiracy theory that says that President Trump is waging a secret war against elite Satan-worshipping paedophiles in government, business and the media.

QAnon believers have speculated that this fight will lead to a day of reckoning where prominent people such as former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will be arrested and executed.

That’s the basic story, but there are so many offshoots, detours and internal debates that the total list of QAnon claims is enormous – and often contradictory. Adherents draw in news events, historical facts and numerology to develop their own far-fetched conclusions.

https://www.bbc.com/news/53498434

But for this that need visuals then there is a short video…..

“I don’t know much about the movement other than I understand they like me very much, which I appreciate,” Trump said in the White House briefing room.

Is QAnon coming to your church?

It’s a rough time to be a pastor. An election year, national racial unrest and a global pandemic each challenged the usual methods of ministry. Taken together, many church leaders are facing the traditional post-vacation ingathering season with a serious case of burnout.

But there’s another challenge that pastors I spoke with say is on the rise in their flocks. It is taking on the power of a new religion that’s dividing churches and hurting Christian witness.

Mark Fugitt, senior pastor of Round Grove Baptist Church in Miller, Missouri, recently sat down to count the conspiracy theories that people in his church are sharing on Facebook. The list was long. It included claims that 5G radio waves are used for mind control; that George Floyd’s murder is a hoax; that Bill Gates is related to the devil; that masks can kill you; that the germ theory isn’t real; and that there might be something to Pizzagate after all.

“You don’t just see it once,” said Fugitt. “If there’s ever anything posted, you’ll see it five to 10 times. It’s escalating for sure.”

QAnon: The alternative religion that’s coming to your church

Now you have a good grasp at what QAnon is and what it is all about….now time to fight these toads back into the obscurity they deserve.
