It is the weekend and I will take the rest of the day to kick back and enjoy the simpler things in life……
We all have that one movie that speaks to us…..Steel Magnolias or Day After Tomorrow…..those sort of movies……mine is a bit different….mine is about a disturbing trend in our politics….
I have commented many times about the stupidity that this country is experiencing and has been experiencing for a couple of decades now…….I have used the movie, “Idiocracy” as an example of what could happen if this trend continues……
Well all my efforts have not been in vain……the creator of the movie has weighed in on this trend also……

The man behind the 2006 cult sci-fi film “Idiocracy” is lamenting that his fictional movie appears to have become reality.
“I never expected #idiocracy to become a documentary,” tweeted screenwriter Etan Cohen in an apparent jab at the 2016 presidential race.
Together with “Beavis & Butt-head” creator Mike Judge, Cohen co-wrote the time-travel comedy. The plot revolves around the misadventures of a man who wakes up in a futuristic America only to discover that everyone around him, including lawmakers and government officials, is an idiot.
“I thought the worst thing that would come true was everyone wearing Crocs,” Cohen told his Twitter followers.
“Idiocracy” star Terry Crews, famous for his role as President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho, also used the satirical film to take a shot at the surreal election cycle.
“All y’all need to stop tripping,” Crews tweeted in character. “Chill the F out, ‘Merica.”

May I suggest that you, my readers, need to see this film……a look into the future of this country…..
Who knew a work of cinematic fiction could be so damn prophetic?
Moments of brilliance in the film, no question about it.
I watched 10 years ago and said then that it was looking like we would be there soon…..chuq
The first clinical sign of onset insanity has traditionally been a phenomenon whereby the prospective patient awakens one morning and believes beyond any shadow of doubt that the whole world about him (or her) has gone daft and he or she is the only one remaining in control of their mind. “Everybody but me is totally nuts” is a red flag that probably should be pursued with appropriate qualified health providers. Just sayin’ —– Then there are folks like myself who know they are divorced from any semblance of reality but who are totally aware of the fact and totally willing to use it in promotion of their enterprise of rattling the cage for everyone else around them. LOL
You need to watch the film…..it is just scary
I saw one a long time ago called “Soylent Green” and another one called “Wild In The Streets.” Both had similar themes to the one you have mentioned and to date a lot of their prophecy-elements have come to pass also.
Idiocracy shows what happens when the people become increasingly more stupid….SG was a good movie…I cannot remember the other…I will go see if I can find it….thanx
As I always say, “Today’s sci-fi nightmares are tomorrow’s accepted reality.”
Soylent Green & Wild In the Streets are great movies!…I remember a lot less about Wild In The Streets because I’ve been…er…”wild”… every time I watched it.
I just loves me some Drive In Classics!!!
I have yet to watch it, having pursued an embargo for many years at watching movies… but, I will say, it is the true function of artistic expression to reflect the real world in metaphor, so, I’d say the film has achieved its purpose, fully….
I’ve mentioned before how it is mathematically certain the more people who are born, the further DOWN the average intelligence is driven. There is no escape from this process. Our own failure to understand our own nature will be our doom….
gigoid, the dubious
You really need to make an exception and watch it…..it will surprise you how accurate it was 20 years ago…..chuq
I’ll see if I can; it sounds entertaining, if naught else. I suppose, to some extent, it was the unfortunate title that turned me away… I was sure I didn’t want to know any more about either idiots, or bureaucracy, the two banes of my existence, which provided the coined word, which itself, is all-too-descriptive of modern times….
But, I’ll check it out, and try not to worry about the deja vu…
😉

I do not think you would be disappointed….Hell you can almost pick out the candidates of today among the characters…..LOL chuq

Sounds a lot like the auto-biography I’m working on.
Idiocracy ran on TV in my neck of the woods about every other weekend for the last 5-6 years. I had no idea what it was about and never saw it. After it was mentioned several times here, I decided I was going to watch it. But curiously, I’ve not seen it on the TV listings since. And the edgy comedy channel that showed it the most has been replaced by yet another a home-reno/DIY channel where idiots blow all their money destroying their homes to conform to whatever trend is “in” that season.
Coincidence?
It has become a cult classic……probably explains the lack of appearances….it will now be be more in-demand….still a great piece of social commentary…..chuq
I’m going to have to watch it. I always say that we are living in an idiocracy. Had no clue someone wrote a movie about it. Thank you.
My pleasure and you will not be disappointed….chuq
