GOP: Tonight’s The Night

There has been a bloody massacre in the GOP since Iowa…..the candidates have been dropping like flies…..and now we are down to a respectable 5 candidates….down from the 17 we had just 4 months ago…….

Tonight is the big night…..there is a debate….a debate where all the candidates will be on the same stage hurling insults at each other….gone are the days of a Kiddie Table debate that proceeded the Main Event……

This will make for a short night for those people that are interested in what the GOP candidates will have to say to each other and on the issues (a sad lack of substance)……

If you are pumped up over the prospects within the GOP then you will need a card to describe what to look for tonight….and I can help……

There are just a few days left before Super Tuesday, meaning Thursday night’s GOP debate in Houston gives the five remaining candidates a final chance to make their case before voters in more than a dozen states and territories head to the polls. Here’s what to look for on the CNN stage:

  • How Ted Cruz recovers from recent losses. Cruz is likely a bit nervous after losing to Donald Trump and Marco Rubio in South Carolina and Nevada. What could decide his comeback or his undoing: which “face,” as NPR puts it, shows up in his home state—the “softer side” he’s shown recently to Senate colleagues and others, or the “embattled and all-but-martyred conservative champion”; if he can combat the “liar” label that’s been thrown at him in recent days, per the Los Angeles Times; and whether he turns his fire more on Trump or Rubio on the debate stage.
  • If Rubio can finally stand out as the clear establishment choice. The same dilemma applies to Rubio and who he’ll focus his attacks on: Trump, Cruz, or both. Either way, as New York Times political reporter Michael Barbaro puts it, Rubio can’t settle for a decent debate. “He has to have the biggest night of his campaign, cutting Mr. Trump down to size, inflicting real damage [Cruz], and showing Republican voters that [he] is both angry and sane enough to be their standard-bearer.”
  • Whether Trump, as CNN puts it, will “go in for the kill.” He’s already claimed victories in New Hampshire, Nevada, and South Carolina, despite sometimes “shaky” debate performances and a frontrunner target on his back. Trump may have momentum, but he may not be content to ride that alone to the GOP nomination: Instead, CNN wonders how he’ll react Thursday if he’s attacked, whether he’ll leave any “breathing room” for Cruz and Rubio or if he’ll go the scorched-earth route.
  • Will John Kasich mail it in or keep things aggressive? Establishment GOPers are “increasingly anxious,” CNN notes, about the prospect of Trump or Cruz as the nominee and want to throw all their muscle behind Rubio. Times reporter Thomas Kaplan wants to see “how [Kasich] tries to justify his continued existence in the race,” while NPR notes Kasich probably is still keeping an eye on being a running mate, meaning “he is unlikely to unload on either Trump or Rubio. And he may also be loath to unload on Cruz while in Texas.”
  • What, if anything, is expected out of Ben Carson? Widely regarded to be the candidate with the least shot of gaining nominee status, it’s been a long fall for Carson. The media has few expectations for him, other than maybe disrupting momentum for the others, perhaps via his appeal to religious voters in the South, per the LAT. But surprises from Carson at this point? “Maybe not so much,” NPR notes.

If you are a person who will be interested in tonight’s debate….you now know what to look for as you suffer through another GOP debate……

You are welcome!

2016: Will He Or Won’t He?

It is 2016 and there are hints that some of the possible candidates will split off and go it for a third party…..mostly Trump and that magic politician Bloomberg…..

First, the Donald……when the process began last summer Trump seem to hint that he would peel off if he did not win the nomination and go for it in a third party sort of way…..and even though he is leading all other candidates in the GOP  field he is still hunting at such a trip…….

Donald Trump says the chances that he will launch a third-party White House run will “absolutely” increase if the Republican National Committee is unfair to him during the 2016 primary season.

“The RNC has not been supportive. They were always supportive when I was a contributor. I was their fair-haired boy,” the business mogul told The Hill in a 40-minute interview from his Manhattan office at Trump Tower on Wednesday. “The RNC has been, I think, very foolish.”

Pressed on whether he would run as a third-party candidate if he fails to clinch the GOP nomination, Trump said that “so many people want me to, if I don’t win.”

“I’ll have to see how I’m being treated by the Republicans,” Trump said. “Absolutely, if they’re not fair, that would be a factor.”

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus called Trump earlier this month asking him to tone down his controversial rhetoric. More recently, the RNC rebuked him for saying that Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is not a war hero. Trump didn’t apologize but has since said that the 2008 Republican presidential nominee is a war hero.

Is he thinking what is good for the country or good for himself?

Then there is the perpetual candidate from New York, Bloomberg……a few days ago he said that he would be looking at the possibility of running in 2016 as a third party candidate……let’s say he decides to run what are his chances?  Then if does run can he win?

Michael Bloomberg has expressed enough interest in running for president over the years that his latest deliberation might seem like a bit of a joke. Don’t laugh just yet, writes Jonathan Chait at New York. There’s no question that Bloomberg—socially liberal and fiscally conservative—”fills a space on the political spectrum that is overserved,” Chait says. But in a race against Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump, Bloomberg’s lane would be wide open. And though an independent candidate has never become president in modern times, independents have won in three-way races at the state level. Since voters seem to be leaning toward party outsiders, it makes sense that they might favor a candidate running outside of the established system. Plus, plenty of voters identify themselves as independent anyway.

Of course, more identify as Democrat or Republican. But most do so “out of intense loathing and fear of the opposing party,” writes Chait. That means that if Bloomberg attracted enough support from independents, “Democrats who can’t abide socialism, and Republicans who can’t abide Trump,” he might also “see a sudden influx of Democrats who are terrified of Trump, Republicans who are terrified of Sanders, or both.” For now, it seems hard to imagine Bloomberg in the Oval Office. “But if Trump and Sanders get the nomination, then we have already entered a world in which an unimaginable outcome—the election of either a self-professed critic of the ‘free enterprise system,’ or a reality-television buffoon as president—has become inevitable,” Chait writes. “In a world like that, the election of … Bloomberg might quickly seem not just thinkable but downright boring.” Chait’s full piece is here.

Is this the best thing for the US in this year of contested everything?

This may be a moot point…..it appears that Trump can slide his way to the nomination process….if he does….will the RNC play ball?

Propaganda Machine At Work!

I have been bitching about the worthlessness of the MSM when it comes to reporting the news…..they , MSM, give the public worthless fluff and avoid the real stories that actually need covering….gossip and award shows hold NO importance to the set of events that control this country…..

Below explains why we can NOT get real news……instead we get propaganda and misinformation…..

And it is not just here that misinformation abounds……

This photo is from an article written in al-Arabiya…….

The article talks about the Syrian army liberating a town on the outskirts of Aleppo in the country’s Northern regions……(read it for yourself)…….

Source: Syrian army grabs Aleppo province town from ISIS – Al Arabiya English

The picture is propaganda….why?

The flag being carried by the soldiers is the Palestinian flag not the one of Syria…..my question to these people was….”why is the Syrian soldier carrying a Palestinian flag?”

No reply yet…….

The story was also carried by the AP and the photo credit goes to SANA…..that is the official Syrian press agency…..sorry as far as I can tell it is a faked photo…..issued for propaganda purposes…..

Blinded By The Light

For decades the population has had a bright cheery view of Israel……thanx mainly to the mainstream media which is in the pocket of the Israeli propaganda machine…..but thanx to the internet and social media the US is getting the “rest of the story”….to quote the late Paul Harvey…..

It has been a long and slow trip from fantasy of the official Israel point of view to the reality of what is happening to the people of Palestine at the hands of the Israeli forces……

The percentage of Americans viewing Israel favorably has fallen to 59 percent. By contrast, nearly a quarter of Americans (24 percent) now view the Palestinian Authority favorably. Americans viewing Iran favorably also surged to a recent high of 16% of the adult population. These are the results of three IRmep polls of the U.S. adult […]

Social media and movements like Electronic Intifada and the BDS movement are bringing a minute by minute account of the “crimes” committed by the IDF and the settlers…..

The only “democracy” in the Middle East is a con job worked up by the MSM and the propagandists of Israel……the truth while slow will be known and the American people will see they have been played for 60+ years…..

A FYI Bonus post……

Every American president has given his approval of the Peace Process….but for most it is lip service…….now ask…is there any possibility of a peace accord between the Palestinians and the Israelis?

An excellent question…..yes there is but the better question is…..do any of the players really want a lasting peace?  If they do….how can it be achieved?

One good article on this subject……

Libya: The War Time Forgot

A few years ago everyone was on-board with the deposing of the Libyan leader, Qaffafi….and since then there have been sporadic reports in the media about the situation in Libya….it has gone from cheers and joy to damn right awful……from bad to worse…..and one of the results of our intervention has been the rise of ISIS in Libya……and because of the rise the US is forced to intervene yet again……

The U.S. and its allies need to step in to help restore Libyan sovereignty.

Source: Use Force to Help Libya – US News

Would that be the old hawkish adage…..”fight for peace”?

But then the question could be asked….is ISIS that big of a threat that the US needs to use intervention to solve?

Analysis: As ISIL is squeezed in Iraq and Syria, Libya has increasingly become a strategic alternative ground.

(Please do not discount the source…..read the article and then make your decision…….)

Once again Libya is a prime example of what US arrogance can produce….regime change was important but not one person had the forethought to look at the consequences of this action…..the US has a hard time learning lessons……

Source: Lost Lessons of Libya | Consortiumnews

This situation will be yet another one of our little wars that burns up resources and cash……especially when the person the US chose to be the leader of Libya is a CIA operative from the 80’s…..that’s right …..he is a CIA plant to run the new Libyan government…..

In 1991, the New York Times reported that 350 exiled “Libyan soldiers were trained by American intelligence officials in sabotage and other guerrilla skills. The plan to use the exiles fit neatly into the Reagan Administration’s eagerness to topple Colonel [Muammar] Qaddafi.” Former Libyan General Khalifa Hifter was the leader of that group, the Libyan […]

Now what part of that plan is for the good of the Libyan people?  Will the leader do the CIA bidding or will he work for the country?

I realize that this is a bit much for the average person to assimilate…..but try it you may just like it……besides when Libya goes to crap you can join me in saying….”I told you so”!
