Opposing Plutocracy Means Opposing the Warfare State

Yes I know….many of you think that I am a peace-nik……if so then you are not mistaken.  I have been one since 1975.  Once I returned to the states after my two tours in Vietnam I was moved to do whatever I could to help end the war at any price….

Once the Vietnam War was effectively over I continued my anti-war work…….I was determined to help keep any American person from having to experience something that would change his/her life forever……I admit that I was not very successful since we have had a war a year since those days to contend with…..but that did not deter me from my continuing work….

With limited success will not keep me from voicing my opposition to war….it has never been fashionable to be anti-war and today more so than any point than I can recall…..when you voice opposition to war then prepare yourself for the name calling and the insults…it is not as bad as it was say 40 years ago…..today they are off-hand insults…like “apologist” or the ever popular “bleeding heart”…..OUCH!

Now we are in the midst of the 2016 election and our politicians have shown me that not one of them is against war….to the contrary……

Bernie Sanders wants to stay on message. So his presidential campaign has focused on economic issues. The American economy is rigged, Sanders says, in the interests of the wealthy and well connected. Banks and Wall Street brokerage houses get what they want at the expense of everyone else. The government should step in on the […]

Defense contractors have lots of cash to throw at politicians to make sure that the world remains a dangerous place…..the Pentagon does its part to keep the public afraid of their own shadow which in turn makes the propaganda more potable…..

Now ask…what are the chances that we could have a peaceful decade in the near future?

Robt.  Parry does a good explanation to that question…….

After nearly 15 years of Mideast war – with those conflicts growing ever grimmer – you might expect that peace would be a major topic of the 2016 presidential race. Instead, there has been a mix of warmongering bluster from most candidates and some confused mutterings against endless war from a few.

No one, it seems, wants to risk offending Official Washington’s neocon-dominated foreign policy establishment that is ready to castigate any candidate who suggests that there are other strategies – besides more and more “regime changes” – that might extricate the United States from the Middle East quicksand.

The outlook for the future is grim…..that is if you are not a defense contractor…….the forecast is for a generation of war and the consequences if we continue down the path we have chosen……

You may appreciate it….but I do not…..and I will continue to speak out as an anti-war activist…….and as long as stupid is the rule of the day…..

Just How Cozy Is Hillary Clinton With Wall Street? – BillMoyers.com

You recall recently Bernie made a statement that Clinton was part of the “establishment” and the media world went batcrap crazy looking for what he really meant to say……

A manufactured issue….the rest of the country knew what he meant when he uttered the word……in case you are dense…..he meant that she was in the pocket of the special interests (you may define that in any manner you prefer)……..she is a member of that “establishment” just like hubby Bubba….I mean look at the favor he did for agri-business with NAFTA and Wall Street when he helped repel Glass-Steagall…….fast forward to today….how much does his Clinton Global thingy rake in annually….mostly from wealthy people…..who do you think that favors?

But do not take my word for it……there is much that explains her connection to the “establishment”…..

This post first appeared at Mother Jones. Hillary Clinton has received a lot of campaign money from the financial industry over the years, and after she left the State Department she gave several lucrative speeches to Goldman Sachs and other big banks. As Michael Hirsh puts it, this has given her a reputation for being “more than a little cozy” with Wall Street. But is she? Continue reading

Vote from knowledge not from slogans and applause……this country has enough super wealthy people….what we need is someone that see to the Middle Class and our seniors…..”the poor get poorer and the rich get richer” should NO longer be a mantra to describe America.

What Would A Sander’s Economy Be Like?

I return…..yesterday was a day lost in time…..I spent 9 hours with doctors and waiting, from 0830 to 1750, and have one more today….the joy of it all…..enough of my problems let’s look at the upcoming election……

Apparently not many need to know about what is happening in the world….for apparently they know it all…..so as long as it is an election year let’s look at Bernie and his economic plan……

During last nights debate Clinton made a comment about economists and Bernie….she said that no one knows who are the economists that agree with Bernie…..Just in case you would like an answer to that question……

Poor Bernie has been catching grief over his comment that Hillary was part of the “establishment”…..first of all all the analysis on the comment is just fluff…..we all knew what he was referring to….now don’t we?

He has grand plans and some say too grand for his chances of actually getting it through a Congress that is….at best…..worthless and lazy.  But what would his ideas look like for the American economy?

A noted economist has answered that question for us…….

Bernie Sanders’ economic plan would create nearly 26 million jobs and increase median income by more than $22,000, according to University of Massachusetts Amherst economics professor Gerald Friedman.

Maybe now you will pay some attention…..there is more at stake than some applause lines used by desperate people…..your livelihood is at stake….

Put your vote where it will do YOU the most good…..after all that is what this election is all about……right?  YOU!

It’s Libya Again……..

How many wars are we fighting at this time?  3….4….more?

Since we intervened in Libya to save the people from a “humanitarian crisis”….we have been up to our asses in problems.  We made sure that a country divided along lines…again……it was not enough that we did the same thing to Iraq….nope we had to do it all over again…..so much for having a plan……

In the time since the death of Qaddafi the rise of ISIS and others with similar goals have been on the rise….and why do you think that is?

You can go about blaming whomever you choose but the one common denominator is……the US of A.

Now it seems that Obama has sent heard to his commanders of the Libyan campaign to go after ISIS affiliates…….

With several Pentagon officials, including the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joe Dunford and Press Secretary Peter Cook talking up military efforts to lay the groundwork for a US war in Libya, which Dunford suggested would be formalized in several weeks, President Obama is starting to talk up the idea too.

The White House confirmed today that President Obama has ordered his national security advisers to draw up plans to “counter” ISIS efforts to expand in Libya. Defense Secretary Ash Carter confirmed the move, saying several options are being drawn up.

There is the cute part……”asking the national security advisers” to draw up a plan to counter ISIS”……these are the same people that drew up plans in Syria and we see how well that is working….now don’t we?

You know I think we, the people, should have some say in who and how many years we must fight…….

This escalation is being planned without a meaningful debate in Congress about the merits and risks of a military campaign, the New York Timesnotes. Pentagon officials have not made a case that the proposed military action has achievable goals, and airstrikes could lead to a ground war.

If Congress takes no action, endless war will likely be extended to a new country, without time limit, without restrictions on the use of U.S. ground troops, and without any limit on who can be targeted, even if they have never attacked the United States nor shown any public inclination to do so.

Urge Congress to exercise its responsibilities under the Constitution and the War Powers Resolution by debating and voting on U.S. military escalation in Libya before it happens by signing and sharing our petition:

http://www.justforeignpolicy.org/act/congress-debate-vote-before-new-libya-war

Please take some time and check it out…..then if you agree with me then please consider adding your name to the petition……we must stop this constant interventions where we may not be wanted……I believe enough Americans have been torn away from their families and way too many have died or been injured for NOTHING!

Then there are those that say time is running out on any chances for stabilizing Libya……

Italy’s foreign minister says time is running out to stabilise war-torn Libya as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group is expanding its reach in the North African country.

The warning came as the European nation on Tuesday hosted in Rome representatives from 23 countries who are part of the US-led coalition seeking to prevent ISIL from seizing Libya and targeting the West from across the Mediterranean Sea.

Hashem Ahelbarra, reporting from Rome, said the coalition was working on a plan for potential air strikes on ISIL positions in the coastal area that stretches from Bin Jawa to the west of Sirte, which lies about 370km east of the capital Tripoli.

I have watched the Libyan saga unfold from the beginning……I am coming to the mind that there was never any intention for a stable Libya……for instance….the “No Fly Zone”……why?  The Libyan air force was not engaged in the fray…….or was the no-fly zone just a cover to commit the airstrikes?  Was this somehow a revenge thing?  Or was it truly to prevent a humanitarian crisis….if it was then what would you call what we help create in Libya?

My best guess is……A Cluster F*ck…F.U.B.A.R.!
