Election time and you are hearing so much about the shape of your state…..about all the positive accomplishments that the politicians have given the people of their state….
There are lots of people in state politics thumping their chests saying that their state is in fine shape that their policies have put the state back on the road to prosperity….Really?
Do you believe your state’s officers? Is your state really in good shape? Is there truly anything to be positive about?
If you would like to know then take a look at the report from the Center for American Progress…a non-partisan think tank……
Policymakers should take a hard look at where their state is succeeding and falling short to prioritize actions that would dramatically reduce poverty in their backyards and beyond.

It suks for them!
I live in a state which is known for its overall prosperity… yet, every day, wherever I go, I see the evidence of homelessness, and poverty, and decline of infrastructure, as well as a general feeling on the streets that nothing will ever change, so why bother trying?…. That is when those who live there, or near there, have the time to even think about life at large; mostly they’re too busy worrying where the next meal will come from, or where they can sleep in the freezing weather….
In those places where the homeless are not so evident, such as hotels, restaurants, or entertainment venues, the people only talk about how tough their jobs, their relationships, their lives have become, and never ever wonder why….Or, they talk of sports, or movies, or music, or one of the other ways they are kept distracted from anything important….
And my state is in better shape than most….
I didn’t read the report, nor will I. There is enough evidence right out on the streets, or on TV, or in the news, to indicate just how well the politicians are caring for the people they serve….And, those people are completely clueless, for the most part, of their own part in what is happening the entire world over, as the forces of social inertia rush us all down the ever-shortening path to our own extinction as a species, for not having the wit to understand our place in the scheme of things….
