More Bounties Claim

Closing Thought–25Aug20

Recently news has been circulating around the internet about Russia paying bounties on US soldiers.

I have written on this report……https://lobotero.com/2020/07/03/the-bounty-thing/

Now the propaganda machine has picked a new foe for the bounty thing….this time it is Iran…..

US intelligence agencies assessed that Iran offered bounties to Taliban fighters for targeting American and coalition troops in Afghanistan, identifying payments linked to at least six attacks carried out by the militant group just last year alone, including a suicide bombing at a US air base in December, CNN has learned.

“Bounties” were paid by a foreign government, identified to CNN as Iran, to the Haqqani network — a terrorist group that is led by the second highest ranking leader of the Taliban — for their attack on Bagram Air Base on December 11, which killed two civilians and injured more than 70 others, including four US personnel, according to a Pentagon briefing document reviewed by CNN.
The name of the foreign government that made these payments remains classified but two sources familiar with the intelligence confirmed to CNN that it refers to Iran.

Really?

This report co,mes at a time when some sort of diversion is needed from the travesty the Trump is creating around the election.

Bounties?

You mean like the ones the US offers for enemies?  Of wait we call those “reward”….if it is “dead or alive” then it is a bounty.

Bounties?  You mean like the ones that the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese offered for certain US troops during the war?

My point is that this is NOTHING new….but it does help fuel the rhetoric on Russia/Iran as our enemies.

2020 GOP Convention–Day One

It is that time again…..this time it is the wonderful GOP Convention…and yes it will also be a virtual convention…..and another political circus for the pundits to enjoy.

How much fear can be spewed?   How much hate can be regurgitated?

The Republican National Convention got underway Monday, a four-night affair that will culminate with President Trump’s acceptance speech Thursday night. Trump, though, is breaking with tradition and is expected to speak on all four nights. In fact, he made surprise remarks early during Monday’s proceedings after being formally nominated. (An AP fact check concludes that he “made a dizzying array of misleading claims about voting fraud” as well as health care.) At the end of the night, the AP declared Trump “omnipresent”; in addition to appearing during the night’s events, he of course also tweeted about them. Other big speakers included Donald Trump Jr.; Nikki Haley; Sen. Tim Scott, the only Black GOP senator; and Mark and Patricia McCloskey, the couple from St. Louis who were initially charged after waving guns at Black Lives Matters protesters, per the Washington Post. Highlights:

  • Dire warnings: Per Politico, a major theme of the night was the warning of “chaos” if Joe Biden wins in November. Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who kicked things off, called Trump the “bodyguard of Western civilization” who was “elected to protect our families from the vengeful mob that seeks to destroy our way of life, our neighborhoods, schools, churches and values.” A Cuban-American businessman compared Biden to Fidel Castro. Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz said, “We must fight to save America now or we may lose her forever,” saying a Biden presidency would be a “horror film” involving citizens’ firearms being taken away, prisons being emptied, and the MS-13 gang running rampant.
  • Emphatic speeches from Trump Jr. and his girlfriend: Trump’s eldest son called Biden the “Loch Ness monster of the swamp”; Fox News has more on his address here. His girlfriend, and Trump’s campaign finance chair, Kimberly Guilfoyle, also gave a passionate speech; both of them kept with the theme of dark warnings should Biden win. KTLA says they painted California, in particular, as a “dangerous, dystopian wasteland.” Many news outlets have made note of the particularly passionate delivery Guilfoyle used; the Hill says she delivered her speech at a “near-constant shout.”
  • Black Americans speak up for Trump: Former NFL player Herschel Walker, who has known Trump for nearly four decades, said, “Growing up in the Deep South, I’ve seen racism up close, I know what it is, and it isn’t Donald Trump.” As for Scott, he gave the last big speech of the night, per CNN. He mentioned George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, and cited Biden’s history as a senator to claim he would not defend minority communities. “Joe Biden said if a Black man didn’t vote for him, he wasn’t truly Black. Joe Biden said Black people are a monolithic community. Joe Biden said poor kids can be just as smart as white kids. And while his words are one thing, his actions take it to a whole new level.” Georgia state Rep. Vernon Jones said, per the AP, that he is a “lifelong Democrat” who is for Trump. “The Democratic Party does not want Black people to leave the mental plantation they’ve had us on for decades,” he said.
  • Strong words from Haley: Haley, the daughter of Indian immigrants, said, per Politico: “My father wore a turban. My mother wore a sari. We faced discrimination and hardship, but my parents never gave into grievance and hate. It’s now fashionable to say that America is racist. That is a lie. America is not a racist country.”
  • Health care workers speak up for Trump: A nurse and a surgeon both touted Trump’s coronavirus response. “Let me be clear, as a health care professional, I can tell you without hesitation Donald Trump’s quick action and leadership saved thousands of lives during COVID-19,” nurse Amy Johnson Ford said. Trump was also seen during the night thanking front-line workers including healthcare professionals, truck drivers, and small business owners.
  • Parent of Parkland victim blames the left: Andrew Pollack, whose teen daughter was killed in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in 2018, said, “Gun control laws didn’t fail my daughter, people did. Far-left Democrats in our school district made this shooting possible.” He said of Trump, “I truly believe the safety of our kids depends on whether this man is re-elected.”
  • St. Louis couple speaks out: Among Mark McCloskey’s comments: “Not a single person in the out-of-control mob that you saw at our house was charged with a crime. But you know who was? We were. They actually charged us with felonies for daring to defend our home.”
  • Biden’s camp responds: “If you tuned into the Republican convention tonight looking for some indication from President Trump that he has a strategy to contain the coronavirus, you’re still waiting,” said Biden’s deputy campaign manager, per Fox News. “What you heard tonight was a parade of dark and divisive fear-mongering designed to distract from the fact that Donald Trump does not have an affirmative case to make to the American people about why he should be re-elected.”

MS-13?  When was the last tine you heard that term?  My guess is around 2016.

What was that Guilfoyle woman shouting about?  Oh Yeah….most Trump’s supporters are over 65…does she think they are all deaf?

Do speakers get paid?  If not then why would some of them actually show up?

So far I have not been disappointed in what I thought would be part of this convention…..FEAR rule the night.

All this from a party that did not think the party needed a platform of policies to run on….other than to kiss Trump’s ass.

There you have the first night of the GOP Convention…..night two may even more ridiculous.

Joe’s Your Man!

It is official that Joe Biden is the candidate for president for the Democrats….and if he wins what will we get?

VOX put together a good review/summary of what a Biden presidency would look like…..

https://www.vox.com/2020/8/20/21374251/joe-biden-agenda-president-policy

I am always stating that Democrats have great ideas….But cannot play the game of politics……this is why that all those sweeping plans they make every election have never come about even when they win the presidency and the Congress.

Now that we have a candidate to face Trump in November…can you tell me just what their polices are all about?  I mean something other than “beat Trump”….(pause here for all the hustling to get to Google)…….

At a loss for those ideas?

Let me help……

Platform committee co-chair Denis McDonough, who served as former President Barack Obama’s chief of staff, called it the “boldest Democratic platform in American history.”  (his is pure bullshit!)

The draft party document released last week endorses universal health care and makes it clear that low- or no-cost coverage for every American is the party’s eventual goal. Rather than backing a single mandatory government-run health insurance program, however, it calls for adding a public option to the existing Affordable Care Act.

The platform also sets aggressive goals for combating climate change, including making all American power plants carbon neutral by 2035 and adding 500 million solar panels and 60,000 wind turbines to the country’s electricity grid within the next five years.  (not going to happen)

It also calls for a $15 minimum wage, mandatory paid family leave, more federal gun control, broad changes to federal sentencing guidelines and drug laws, and many other changes that most Democratic candidates for Congress and the White House have supported for years.  (not going to happen….a lesser amount will be the compromise if anything happens at all)

(NPR)

There is so much more in the platform but these sections will get the best applause…..and sadly probably nothing will be accomplished along the lines the Dems predict.

But if you gonna vote for a Dem then maybe knowing what they pretend to care about would be helpful…..if so then read the platform!

Like I stated…Great Ideas!

I am still concerned about Biden;s foreign policy (post to follow)…..there seems to be nothing to make me think that anything will change in our rush to war strategies.

The media would have us believe that Biden has universal support….that he is what the voter wants….but is that really true?

That is for a later post.

I think the MSM is wishful thinking…..I believe that the polls are not accurate and this election is a lot closer than the polls show……even some polls show that Trump is gaining in support….

resident Donald Trump’s approval rating has slowly climbed with less than three months to go until the 2020 presidential election, according to polling data.

The FiveThirtyEight approval rating tracker shows that the president’s popularity rose almost two percentage points from a low of 40.1 percent at the end of July to 41.9 percent as of Wednesday evening.

Trump’s disapproval rating has also fallen over the past month, despite criticism of his handling of the coronavirus pandemic and the economy’s rebound from related shutdown measures.

Know the issues or just hold your nose a vote blindly and then bitch about what you get.

Reparations? No Thanks!

Here in the US with all the protests for racial equality there have been some that are calling for reparations to be paid to black ancestors of slaves…..

Of course they use the fact that the US has paid reparations to Japanese-Americans for their treatment during World War Two….

But this post is about something other than US slavery…I know hard to believe that there is something more important than the events in the US….but amazingly there is……and it is the history of Africa and the region unknown in the day as German Southwest Africa.

German South-West Africa, or present-day Namibia, was a colony of the German Empire from 1884 until 1915, when it was occupied by South African forces fighting on the side of Great Britain in World War I. The brief history of the colony was marked by a series of insurrections by the Khoekhoe and Hereros against German rule, insurrections that the authorities suppressed with extraordinary harshness. The German ambition was to populate the colony with large numbers of settlers from Germany, much as the British had done in other parts of Africa. By 1914 more than 9,000 German settlers were living in the colony, but the dry climate and lack of water was a limiting factor on further settlement and expansion. Theodor Rehbock was a noted German hydraulic engineer who was asked by a local syndicate to study the colony’s water resources and their potential use in irrigation projects. Rehbock visited German South-West Africa in 1896-97 and produced this analysis of its economics, geology, climatology, and hydrology. His work contains detailed maps, tables, and plans for water projects. It remains a valuable resource for the study of the history of Namibia.

A little more historical perspective…..

In 1884, German chancellor Otto von Bismarck convened a meeting of European powers known as the Berlin Conference. Though the conference determined the future of an entire continent, not a single black African was invited to participate. Bismarck declared South-West Africa a German colony suitable not only for trade but for European settlement. Belgium’s King Leopold, meanwhile seized the Congo, and France claimed control of West Africa.

The German flag soon became a beacon for thousands of colonists in southern Africa—and a symbol of fear for local tribes, who had lived there for millennia. Missionaries were followed by merchants, who were followed by soldiers. The settlers asserted their control by seizing watering holes, which were crucial in the parched desert. As colonists trickled inland, local wealth—in the form of minerals, cattle, and agriculture—trickled out

Indigenous people didn’t accept all this willingly. Some German merchants did trade peacefully with locals. But like Belgians in the Congo and the British in Australia, the official German policy was to seize territory that Europeans considered empty, when it most definitely was not. There were 13 tribes living in Namibia, of which two of the most powerful were the Nama and the Herero. (Kaunatjike is Herero.)

Germans were tolerated partly because they seemed willing to involve themselves as intermediaries between warring local tribes. But in practice, their treaties were dubious, and when self-interest benefitted the Germans, they stood by idly. The German colonial governor at the turn of the 20th century, Theodor Leutwein, was pleased as local leadership began to splinter. According to Dutch historian Jan-Bart Gewald, for instance, Leutwein gladly offered military support to controversial chiefs, because violence and land seizure among Africans worked to his advantage. These are all tactics familiar to students of United States history, where European colonists decimated and dispossessed indigenous populations.

Now that we have set the stage….Germany has offered reparations for the ills foisted upon the natives…..and Namibia has declined the offer……

Namibian President Hage Geingob on Tuesday turned down Germany’s offer of €10 million ($11.7 million) in reparations for the genocide committed by the German Empire at the start of the 20th century.

“The current offer for reparations made by the German government remains an outstanding issue and is not acceptable to the Namibian government,” Geingob said in a statement after a briefing on the status of negotiations. He added that the government’s special envoy, Zed Ngavirue, would continue to negotiate for a “revised offer.”

Geingob also took exception to Germany’s use of the term “healing the wounds” in place of the word reparations, saying the terminology would be debated further.

No apology so far

The two countries began negotiating an agreement in 2015 that would see Germany give an official apology and development aid as compensation for the killing of tens of thousands of indigenous Herero and Nama people by German occupiers in 1904-1908.

Maybe an apology would make things go better…..

Just a thought.

That Titty Baby

Closing Thought–24Aug20

SEALs are the elite soldier, right?

Well some are just titty babies.

Like the one that says he shot Osama (or did he?)…..he is all flustered by having to wear his mask….

It all started when this former SEAL removed his mask on a flight…..

A former Navy SEAL who has said he killed Osama bin Laden has been banned by Delta Air Lines after removing his face mask during a flight. Robert O’Neill tweeted about his ban on Thursday, and the airline confirmed the action, the AP reports. “Part of every customer’s commitment prior to traveling on Delta is the requirement to acknowledge our updated travel policies, which includes wearing a mask,” the airline said in a statement. “Failure to comply with our mask-wearing mandate can result in losing the ability to fly Delta in the future.” All major US airlines require passengers to wear face coverings to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Delta says it has banned more than 100 passengers for violating the rule.

O’Neill posted a selfie showing himself, with no mask, on a Delta Connection flight Wednesday from Minneapolis to Newark. Other passengers in the photo, including a man across the aisle who was wearing a Marine Corps hat, were wearing masks. The tweet was later deleted. In another tweet Thursday, O’Neill said, “Thank God it wasn’t @Delta flying us in when we killed bin Laden … we weren’t wearing masks.” O’Neill first said in 2014 that he fired the shots that killed bin Laden during a 2011 raid on the terrorist’s compound in Pakistan. The US government has neither confirmed nor denied the account. O’Neill later wrote a book about his time in the SEALs.

Once he was banned he went on a silly rant…showing his ass and embarrassing the SEALs in the process.

Robert O’Neill, the Navy SEAL veteran who purportedly fired the shot that killed Osama Bin Laden, is having a rough one on Twitter — all over the perceived indignity of having to wear a face mask.

On Tuesday, O’Neill posted a photo of himself to Twitter aboard a Delta flight without a protective face mask, despite the fact that the United States is still in the middle of a major novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The photo was accompanied with a simple message: “I’m not a pussy.”

O’Neill later deleted the tweet, but here’s a screenshot:

https://taskandpurpose.com/mandatory-fun/robert-oneill-twitter-meltdown-face-masks

Seriously?

I bothers him that he has to wear a mask?

But he Can wear this

Billions going into Defence for new weapons and armour for special ... But not this….

Should We All Be Wearing Face Masks? Here's Why Experts Are So ...

And yet I believe Special Ops troops wear them all the time to protect their identity, or protect them from the elements….so this “He Man” is pouty because he has to follow the rules….that illustrates the whole service of the SEALs and the problems they are having with their personnel….(read about the problems here….https://lobotero.com/2019/08/15/seals-have-a-problem/ )

Special my ass!

Like I said “titty baby”!

Maybe once but their is little special now for you can request them when enlisting.

It is time for these soldiers to return to the shadows where they belong….and prosecute the former troopers that try to be a video star…..

Step Right Up!

2020 RNC Convention begins tonight……and seems to be a family affair…..not to worry Trump has decided that he will give his acceptance speech on the grounds of the White House……..

Image

Sorry I could not resist…….but in case you need more information I am here to help…..

Republicans will aim to recast the story of Donald Trump’s presidency when they hold their national convention beginning Monday, featuring speakers drawn from everyday life as well as cable news and the White House while drawing a stark contrast with Joe Biden. Trump is looking to shift his campaign from being a referendum on a presidency ravaged by a pandemic and economic collapse and toward a choice between vastly different visions of America’s future. Reshaping the national conversation around the race has taken on greater urgency for Trump, who trails in public and private surveys as the devastation of the coronavirus. The four-day event’s theme is “Honoring the Great American Story,” the AP reports. The convention will showcase well-known supporters, including Trump family members, but also those whom the GOP say are members of the “silent majority” aided by the president’s policies.

The lineup will primarily feature figures on the conservative media circuit intended to energize Trump supporters. Planners insist they will present a more “positive” convention than the Democrats’ roasting of Trump. Yet the president appears intent on stoking cultural divides, particularly around racial injustice and policing. Speakers will include Reps. Matt Gaetz of Florida and Jim Jordan of Ohio, staunch defenders of Trump; Nicholas Sandmann, who as a high school student gained attention for his interaction with a Native American man during Washington demonstrations; White House counselor Kellyanne Conway; Clarence Henderson, a civil rights figure from the 1960s addressing the “true meaning of peaceful protest”; Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s personal attorney; Sen. Mitch McConnell; and UFC President Dana White. More than 1,000 guests are anticipated on the South Lawn when Trump delivers his acceptance speech Thursday night. The RNC has sought approval to launch fireworks after the speech.

The line-up appears to be those supporters that will kiss his, Trump, ass…but that is just my thoughts.

For your musical enjoyment while you wait for the first night’s analysis…….

Living And Dying In A Banana Republic

Sending troops to attack protesters…..jailing journalists…..sending police to voting stations….all this sounds like some third world Banana Republic.

The questions is being asked….do we now live in a Banana Republic (not the retail giant)?

How would we know?

Jack A. Goldstone has given us a few of the characteristics……

To sum up, let me offer a short (well, not so short) list. You know you are living in a banana republic when:

1. The top policy-making jobs go to the President’s children and in-laws, rather than to experienced, qualified professionals.

2. Second-tier jobs go to friends and hangers-on of the President (e.g. having the President’s family wedding-planner appointed to a top housing job in the country’s largest city; or appointing people with no scientific qualifications to critical jobs overseeing scientific/technical programs).

3. Qualified professionals are reduced to window-dressing; they don’t attend key meetings and are not put in charge of key policy areas.

4. Across the government, loyalty to the President is the main qualification for getting and keeping your job; those whose loyalty is suspect or seem too independent are soon reassigned or fired.

5. The President asserts that he and his family are above the law, as they can be pardoned for any crimes by the President.

6. Prosecutors or investigators looking into crimes or corruption by the President and his family are dismissed.

7. The President and his administration routinely make blatant lies to put themselves and their actions in the best possible light; then expect those lies to be accepted as fact.

8. The President and his administration repeatedly attack any media who criticize or seek to correct their lies as “Fake news,” while praising and promoting media who endorse their fictions.

9. The President accuses political opponents (such as his predecessor and candidates who ran against him) of committing major crimes, calls them bad people, and urges that they be investigated, prosecuted, and locked up.

10. The President treats opposition parties as irrelevant, excluding them from any serious role in political appointments or legislation.

11. The President treats his own party in the legislature as people who should do his bidding and work mainly to serve him.

12. The President loves parades, displays of military force, and public adulation, but has no interest in policy details or patient negotiation and compromise to produce better policy.

13. The President and his family operate private businesses on the side, and use their power and position to help those businesses increase their profits.

14. The President routinely flaunts and violates ethics laws, and claims they do not apply to him or don’t matter.

15. The President surrounds himself with people whose main duty is to flatter him and protect him from any criticism.

How many of the boxes does Trump tick off?

Looks like the Banana Republic being born thanks to Donald the Orange…..and yet he still has about 40% approval….how can this be?

Each passing day it becomes clearer that it is all about race and superiority…it will be denied but the actions are there for all to see….once they learn to see.

Another Covid-19 Treatment

I try to keep my readers up-to-date on the news around the Covid-19….some of it good….most not so…..like 5.7 million cases and 177,000 deaths…..like I said not so good……

Well we all know that social distancing works and masks help stem the flow of germs…..and Donald the Orange has offered several ways to help prevent even cure this virus……first was some drug that was used to treat Malaria….then we had the drinking of bleach….next was the UV light thing…..then followed up by extract of the Oleander plant…….and now we have yet another treatment to be approved by Trump’s FDA……

President Trump plans to announce the FDA’s approval of a COVID-19 treatment Sunday night—but whether it’s big news or hot air remains open to debate, the Washington Post reports. The treatment is blood plasma from recovered COVID-19 victims. More than 70,000 patients have already received it, and there’s evidence it lowers death rates. But the Trump administration’s praise of the treatment—including the phrase “major therapeutic breakthrough”—is getting a dose of cold water from medical experts. FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb said Sunday on CBSFace the Nation that the antibody-rich product is “probably beneficial” for people with COVID-19 but is already “widely available,” so FDA approval will make an “incremental” difference.

A New York City specialist went so far as to tell USA Todaythat plasma “has not yet been shown to be effective in COVID-19.” On the bright side, STAT reports that plasma is being widely tested and got a moderate thumbs-up from the Mayo Clinic, which saw a small but noticeable impact on COVID-19 death rates. But that study’s lack of a placebo group made the results less clear. There’s also intense political pressure on the FDA amid a fiery federal election. “The deep state, or whoever, over at the FDA is making it very difficult for drug companies to get people in order to test the vaccines and therapeutics,” Trump tweeted Saturday. “Obviously, they are hoping to delay the answer until after November 3rd. Must focus on speed, and saving lives!”

A miracle waiting to appear?

This could prevent deaths of those that have contracted the virus….but we are still looking for that magic vaccine to prevent people from actually contracting the virus.

Globalization And The Sex Trade

From time to time I get to read some research papers from grad students mostly those that pertain to international relations.

Two years ago I did a series on women and the sex trafficking for my op-ed blog, Gulf South Free Press…….read the series here with the final part that can give one the whole series……https://gulfsouthfreepress.wordpress.com/2018/08/02/solutions-conclusion/

With that intro in the bag…..this research paper covers the effects of globalization on the sex trade…..

Siddharth Kara, among others, claims that sex trafficking is ‘one of the ugliest contemporary actualisations of global capitalism,’ and has been ‘directly produced by the harmful inequalities spread by the process of economic globalisation’ (2009, p.4; True, 2012; Jeffreys, 2008; Chang, 2016). This essay therefore understands economic globalisation in its neoliberal sense, and considers how the dominance of international financial institutions (IFIs) over this neoliberal narrative has helped construct and maintain a global capitalist system that entrenches the economic insecurity of Third World nations. The focus will be on globalisation’s contribution to the supply of sex workers. This first section will establish the link between Structural Adjustment Programmes (SAPs), which facilitated the advent of neoliberal economic globalisation during the late 20thcentury, and the deterioration of borrowing countries’ economic status to HIPC (Heavily Indebted Poor Country). The feminisation of poverty thesis will then be introduced, illustrating how IFI-induced poverty pressures women fromHIPCs, who are already economically disenfranchised by patriarchal and societal norms, into migrating for domestic work. Following this, the economic vulnerability of migrating will women will be explored from the perspective of traffickers, whose procurement costs fall as they can deceive women into the industry through false job prospects. The penultimate section will demonstrate how nations indebted to IFIs have been disincentivised to create and invoke strong anti-trafficking penalties, as the taxed remittances of female migrants finance this debt.

Collectively, these arguments seek to demonstrate how the global capitalist system has stimulated the push factors of the global sex trafficking trade, thus amplifying its profitability. Moldova and the Philippines have been referenced as case studies due to their mutual experience of SAPs, and their religious social norms which have economically subordinated women.

Can He Sell You A Car?

This is my feel good story for this weekend…..

Most of my regulars know that I am a canine person and try to pass on all stories that I find about dogs and their lives…..

Stray dog kept visiting car dealership. So, they gave him a job and his own employee badge.

Looks like MoMo……

Image

I know some people use the term “work like a dog” to describe the effort they have put forth. Perhaps out of respect they should be more careful with their words. Some dogs do not stop until they reach the top. Meet Tuscan Prime: canine, and Hyundai Prime’s newest employee, as in badge and everything (although it is still unclear whether he has filled out the equivalent of a W-4 form).

According to Bored Panda, it all started when the employees of the Brazilian car dealership took notice of a stray dog spending some time around the building. At first everyone thought he was just passing through, but the pup soon to be known as Tuscan Prime had other ideas. On one fateful rainy night, showroom manager Emerson Mariano ushered the poor guy in from the wet conditions and offered him food, water and shelter. The bond between the two was instantaneous. It was then that Mariano had the idea to make him their mascot.

https://www.upworthy.com/stray-dog-gets-job-at-car-dealership

I would buy from the dog, Tuscan and from the dealership that has done something nice.

In closing here is some of the better of the ads with dogs as the stars……..

There is more…..

Hopefully these made you feel good at least for awhile….

The local weather service has started issuing warnings about 36 hours before the event……so I guess I should go and make sure everything is ready……

My closing thought…..
