Making America Great Again–Part 28

I have been posting a historical series by Maj. Danny Sjursen….a look at American History that most people have NO idea about or why……

This installment is a look at JFK and the Cold War……but before that let me give the reader the series link so far…….

Part 1; Part 2; Part 3; Part 4; Part 5; Part 6; Part 7; Part 8; Part 9; Part 10;Part 11; Part 12; Part 13; Part 14; Part 15; Part 16; Part 17; Part 18; Part 19; Part 20; Part 21; Part 22; Part 23; Part 24; Part 25; Part 26; Part 27.

Now a look at Part 28…….

Among the American people—if not historians—John F. Kennedy regularly ranks as one of the best presidents in various opinion polls. There is, undoubtedly, something magnetic about the Kennedy administration, dubbed “Camelot” by the president’s wife, Jacqueline, soon after his assassination. However, one wonders if sentiments like this are little more than postmortem nostalgia for a young, handsome president. JFK memorialization and mythology are such that it seems the memories contain something for everyone. Today, mainstream liberals tout his efforts on civil rights; defense hawks laud the toughness of his Cuban Missile Crisis stand; conversely, antiwar types insist that Kennedy was about to pull the U.S. troops out of Vietnam when his presidency was ended by an assassin’s bullets. To the scholar, however, much of the passionate praise for JFK seems unwarranted for a short administration that boasted so few tangible accomplishments.

Maj. Danny is helping the American people get in touch with their real history not some sanitized version……the version we are all taught in school.

Mayor Pete Update

2020 is the year that will make history in some form or another.

First it was Beto and he announced and slowly was pushed aside by Mayor Pete and now Biden has announced and Pete is slowly being pushed aside for the flavor of the day.

Most of us hard core Leftists are waiting for Pete to stumble and he stumped a toe with a comment about trade…..

In his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination, Pete Buttigieg has been telling audiences that the U.S. lost six times as many jobs due to automation than trade from 2000 to 2010, according to The Washington Post. This is literally true, but for all practical purposes it is a very big lie.

The way in which it is true is that we always lose jobs to “automation,” which is known to economists as productivity growth. Productivity growth averages around 2 percent annually (it has been closer to 1 percent since 2005). If productivity grows by 2 percent, this means that we can produce the same amount of goods and services with 2 percent fewer worker hours.

And as they say….”the beat goes on”…….

It was bound to happen sometime.

South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who has emerged as a serious contender in the Democratic presidential primaries, had it easy for a while there — people fawned over his ability to speak eight languages and his Harvard University and military pedigree. His hopeful messaging has also resonated with many, who view Buttigieg’s rhetoric as a welcome reprieve from the divisive nature of contemporary American politics.

But the spotlight also comes with risks. A burgeoning Buttigieg backlash has begun to take shape alongside the praise. For example, The New York Times Magazine writes that Buttigieg’s famed intelligence is, in part, the result of “internetty smarts,” or an intelligence designed to appeal to people’s “vanities and prejudices,” exemplified by his ability to speak non-fluent Norwegian or his “mostly incoherent” takes on James Joyce.

I like his openness about most everything but on the same hand I fear he is just a conserv Blue Dog trying to muscle his way into the progressive movement.

I have written my reservations on several Dem candidates….nothing I have seen or heard has changed my thinking….so far….the one that is suffering from this game the media has to play are the women candidates….their flavor is waning in these early days.

You choose your favorite…all I can do is give my insights and hope it will help…..above all come November….please VOTE!

Out Of The Desert……

Let’s take a look at the future of extremism.

AQ was born of war in Afghanistan…..ISIS was born of war in Iraq…..then the progression could be true of Libya……

The blood in the sand is thanks to the extremism of the branch of Islam….Wahhabism/Salafist…….

This form of Islam is not necessarily the form of Islam most Americans will encounter on the streets of America….no more so than the extremes of Judaism……

Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab (d. 1792) was the first modern Islamic fundamentalist and extremist. Al-Wahhab made the central point of his reform movement the principle that absolutely every idea added to Islam after the third century of the Muslim era (about 950 CE) was false and should be eliminated. Muslims, in order to be true Muslims, must adhere solely and strictly to the original beliefs set forth by Muhammad.

The conflict that began with the death of Qaddafi is breeding another extreme group to watch…..

Madkhali-Salafis (“Madkhalis” for short), followers of an ultra-conservative Sunni Muslim doctrine, are growing in influence across Libya since the fall of the Qadhafi regime in 2011. Present in major armed groups in both east and west, they wield considerable military clout and, as a result, political leverage over both post-2014 rival governments. Their rise within the security sector follows a common pattern among other Libyan warring factions, both Islamist and non-Islamist, which have sought to expand their influence by penetrating the security apparatus and converting its members to their worldview. Now, their anti-democratic agenda and rejection of Libya’s religious and cultural diversity has triggered growing apprehension from many Libyans. Libyan political actors negotiating a solution to the conflict should seek to build a professional security apparatus shielded from ideological influence of any kind. For their part, Madkhalis should publicly commit to respecting religious freedom.

What are the chances of a new faction will emerge as a blight on Islam?

The Wahhabis, the Muslim extremists, have hijacked the faith from the end of WW1…….(this link is for those that pretend they know the Muslim faith and make false claims)(try learning something for a change)

Our century so far has been overshadowed by a plague which roots, western powers have proclaimed, can be found in Islam and its practice. And though politicians have been careful not to publicly brand all Muslims terrorists, the narrative has nevertheless been one of suspicion and assumption. The words terror and Islam have been juxtaposed too many times in the media for anyone to believe that it was not by “design.” There has been a war of words against both Islam and Muslims. Its aim is rather simple and only too predictable since it falls within an equation of greed and cynicism.

By ridiculing Islam and dehumanizing its followers, western powers have essentially laid the ground for intervention – positioning their armies within a narrative of moral salvation and liberation when their aims are everything but.

The possibility of a new group to be added to the terror list is forming and needs to be handled……Muslim need to step up and protect their faith from the monsters from the shadows.
