Darkness at Noon: FDR and the Holocaust

These days with all the craziness being committed in the Middle East…..all the killing….all the violence….all the destruction…..the conversation almost always turns to the horrors of the Holocaust.

Since I am a devotee of historical stuff I thought I would give the thoughts of FDR and the Holocaust…..FDR has been credited with many things….but what did he know or do after learning about the Holocaust?

What did the era’s most prominent symbol of humanitarianism think when confronted with the world’s most compelling moral outrage? History records only a question mark.

Hopefully my reader learned something that was not known before reading…..

      1. Oh, I love history, especially the period from 1914 to present. Do you have other historical posts? I don’t need the llinks, just let me know and I will search for them. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

      2. Well said…..I post historical stuff often….I have a category History…..click on it and all will be revealed (I always wanted to use that line)….LOL chuq

  1. Interesting details…. none of it particularly surprising, but, good to know…. It surely adds weight to my opinion (very low indeed) of the political animal….

  2. I am surprised — and grateful — somebody in The Mid East has not come up with the idea of building their own death camps. I wonder if this is something they will think about in the future. If they do think about it and if they act on it I would be willing for America to take in 982 refugees ourselves and leave the rest of them to the other countries affected — and like Roosevelt I would be against bombing those camps if they should materialize. Think of the innocent civilians that would be in harms way if we bombed such camps. I am all in favor of a ceiling on refugee numbers for The United States. Let some other country take the lion’s share of the responsibility for a change.
