Morons…Each And Every One!

I really do not like calling people names….but as my grandfather said, “when you smell sh*t,  you just have to say it”…….

I wish to apologize to any of my conservs friends who I may offend….with that said the Right just keeps filling up with morons….some new and others have been around for a long time…..and in that time one would think that they would learn a thing or two……but apparently, they do not have the mental capability to grasp facts, instead just make crap up as they go along with the hope that NO one will notice that the sh*t is getting deep…..

We already know that Limbaugh, Beck, FOX News and a wealth of Righties think or believe that Obama is a socialist….and they could give some facts that support their position….they would be wrong….but they could make a case for it…..but over the Thanksgiving holiday a couple of right wing morons have stuck another foot in their mouths….

First is John Stossel, who use to be a pretty creditable journalist….those days are gone!

“The Pilgrims at Plymouth Colony organized their farm economy along communal lines,” [John Stossel] continues. “The goal was to share the work and produce equally. That’s why they nearly all starved . .”

“When people can get the same return with less effort, most people make less effort,” he remarks. “Plymouth settlers faked illness rather than working the common property. Some even stole, despite their Puritan convictions. Total production was too meager to support the population, and famine resulted. This went on for two years.”

The harvest feast that we call Thanksgiving was all about sharing a bountiful harvest… not think that had anything to do with starvation……Stossel is a MORON!

Next we have is Mr. Limbaugh, the mouth that will NOT shut the Hell up!

“The true story of Thanksgiving is how socialism failed. Of course we showed them gratitude. We shared our bounty with them. Not because we didn’t know how to make it. It’s because we first failed as socialists. Only when we turned capitalists did we have plenty. The Indians didn’t teach us capitalism.”

And then there is a Representative, one Todd Akin…..a supposedly informed individual that does the business of the country…

“It might be helpful to think back and say, there’s more to Thanks-giving than the Pilgrims. They were a group of people who were willing to change the system, to think of different ideas. They came here and separated civil and church governments. They came here and created the model of a written constitution, the idea that the government should be the servant of the people. […] They came here with the idea that after trying socialism that it wasn’t going to work. They realized that it was unbiblical, that it was a form of theft, so they pitched socialism out. . . we can remember their first Thanksgiving when they put a few kernels of corn on a plate to remind them of how close to starving to death they had been at one time.”

Okay people ….ONE more time……SOCIALISM as a form of government did NOT come into being until the 1800’s……lots of ideas, but NO government!  Akin and Limbaugh join Stossel…….they are MORONS!

Just another indication that the conservatives will do and say anything factual or not to try and make a point…..

I will not lie to you…there were problems when the pilgrims first got here, but by the time of that first feast thing s were moving along famously….

Hey…OLD FARTS!  Try opening up your mind and see these lying pricks for the useless lumps of crap that they are……you might find a new way of learning….it is called thinking!

2010 Anal-Ocity #28

This will most likely be the last anal-ocity for this year….for next month we start preparing for the upcoming 2010 Anal-Ocity Award, the “Assie”…….

recently when talking about the status of children in Afghanistan, a senior NATO envoy, one Mark Sedwill,  said this……

“children are probably safer here than they would be in London, New York, or Glasgow or many other cities.”

His comments were made for the public record while filming a BBC special on  children in Afghanistan…..

First a few stats for people….

Seventy-four children were killed by bombs or suicide attacks in Afghanistan during the first half of this year—

A rep from aid group Save the Children called the remark “daft,” since “one in five children die before they get to the age of five.” Reuters reports a number of statistics that fly in the face of Sedwill’s claim: 1,795 children died as a result of the war between September 2008 and August 2010; Afghanistan’s infant mortality rate is the highest in the world; UNICEF says the country is the most dangerous one to be born in.

So,  Mr. Sedwill being completely oblivious to the situation in Afghanistan deserves a place in Anal statement history….

2010 Info Ink Movie Review #1

First of all, it is NOT a movie…even though the people participated would like it to be, it is rather a TV show…a reality piece of garbage and I will debate that it is NOT now nor ever will it be, entertaining……however a few conservs friends had badgered me about watching a show on TLC (The Learning Channel) to see what I thought of it…the show is Sarah Palin’s Alaska….to be honest I watched two episodes (that was I all I could take without throwing a brick through my Tellie)…….

If the show was actually about the natural wonders of the state…it would be more tolerable….but NOPE…it is about the Palin clan and their pretend adventures in paradise……we see the family fishing (and clubbing halibut)….canoeing and watching bears by the waters edge or the family out gunning for clay pigeons…..all of which does very little to promote the natural beauty of Alaska and everything in the promotion of Palin and her Tea Party political views…..her comments are loaded with political undertones… the bears,  Mama bear is teaching the cubs that you have to do everything for yourselves…no one will help you (according to the commentary of Palin) or her spotlight on the use of guns or…..and it went on and on…..

It was more like a long campaign ad for her and her possible political career….not about the beauty of her state and why we should be impressed with the vista that is Alaska…TLC should be pulled in front of the FCC for allowing a person to use a documentary format to reinforce a person political stands…….

It is a worthless piece of entertainment (about as entertaining as watching flies mate)  and a waste of perfectly  good air time…..

2010 Anal-Ocity #29

Just when I thought it was safe to start narrowing down thew Anal statements to prepare a list of finalists for the “Assie” award…there had to be yet another mindless politician that just had to make it harder……

With the House of representatives to be in the hands of the GOP major committee assignments are already being prepared…the powerful Energy and Commerce Committee could be lead by Illinois Repub. John Shimkus, which is all well and good but for one minor point……he says that the Bible will protect the Earth from climate change……

“The earth will end only when God declares it’s time to be over. Man will not destroy this earth. This earth will not be destroyed by a flood. … I do believe God’s word is infallible, unchanging, perfect.”

“Really, the focus is not going to be climate,” as Shimkus told Politico. “The climate debate has, at least for two years, has ended with this election. The real focus is on energy security.”

Need we say more?

Is Democracy Served By Special Interests?

College of Political Knowledge

Subject:  Government/Politics

Paper #40

The 2010 mid-term elections are now over and they proved to be the most expensive for the special interests…..about $80+ million was spent so that the GOP could regain the House and damn near took back the Senate….this was up from the $16 million spent in the 2006 mid-terms….so this begs the question, Is our democracy served by special interests?….to be answered.

An observation in the HuffPo by Julie Hirschfield Davis….

Interest groups from across the political spectrum are spending millions to target ultra-specific messages to voters in the final days of congressional campaigns in efforts to turn out key groups that could sway tight races from California to New Hampshire.

Armed with carefully tailored lists of which voters are sympathetic, these organizations are hoping to transform their top issues into deciding factors in close contests. They hope to cut through the near-universal worries about the economy and job losses that have defined this year’s campaign and appeal to people on a single topic that could motivate them to keep – or fire their representatives.

All this was made possible by a decision from the US Supreme Court….

Thanks to a sweeping and ill-considered 5-4 decision by the U.S. Supreme Court’s conservative majority, corporations will now have the same rights as citizens to support candidates through independent expenditures. With this action, the court has effectively undermined the influence of individuals and parties on electoral outcomes, while vastly increasing the clout of business behemoths and their lobbyist representatives to influence and intimidate legislators to support their agendas. If the lawmaker doesn’t play ball, he or she can be threatened with an unregulated financial blitz come election time.

The court’s ruling came in a case, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, that centered on a conservative advocacy group’s expenditures to publicize an anti-Hillary Clinton movie shortly before last year’s Democratic presidential primaries. Current federal law bans such corporate expenditures for communications targeting individual candidates 30 days before a primary and 60 days before a general election.

The SCOTUS has in essence made special interests the 4th branch of our government… the point that they write the bills and finance the passage……the FinReg was basically written by the financial sector….Health reform was basically written by the insurance sector and look at the Pledge To America…the GOP plan to save the country….it was written by a pharma lobbyist….so welcome our newest branch of government…..the special interests….

I ask again…..Is our democracy served by special interests?

Voting Can Be Orgasmic!

As a political junkie…..I sometimes think that the whole process is damn sexy….but I never thought about it being too orgasmic….but then……..

This is a link to my friend and all around good guy,  Quin of Quintessential Havoc (go to blogroll and look around his site….you will not be disappointed)…….great minds think alike…..

Apparently there is NO sense of humor in politics, either…..personally, I like a woman that can find satisfaction in the political process….

Thanx Quin!

Remember When The World Was Flat?

About 500 years ago people thought that the world was flat and that if one traveled far enough then one would fall off the edge into oblivion…..Good old Chris (that would be Columbus not Krinkle) set off to prove the skeptics wrong…….and he did (probably to his amazement also)……

Now the question is, 500 years later, is the universe flat?

In a story in the BBC…..

While the idea of the Earth being flat preoccupied explorers centuries ago, the question of whether the Universe itself is flat remains a debatable topic.

Dark energy – purported to make up 73% of the known Universe – was proposed as the source of the ongoing expansion of everything in the cosmos. Astronomers have also observed that this expansion of the Universe seems to be accelerating.

Even though gravity holds that everything should attract everything else, in every direction astronomers look there is evidence that things are in fact moving apart – with those objects further away moving faster.

Dark energy is believed to pervade the essence of space and time, forcing a kind of “anti-gravity” that fits cosmologists’ equations but that is otherwise a mysterious quantity.

The results suggest that the Universe is made up of about 70% dark energy. The team’s conclusions suggest the Universe is indeed flat – an assumption first put forth by Albert Einstein and seemingly confirmed by more recent observations but that remains one of the most difficult ideas to put on solid theoretical footing.

Damn!  That Albert dude was a smart cookie!  Just think of the money they would have saved if they had just listened to the man fifty years ago… who will be the explorer to test the theory?

Wassup With The Deficit?

The Deficit?   Yes we need to keep talking on this issue….it is too important to ignore and revert back to watching Dancing With The Stars……

The Deficit?  You know that monetary problem that every politician has an opinion about?  It is too high….or it is going to effect your children (and if you think your children are of any concern to politicians, then you are dumber than I originally thought)……or that it will subdue any and all economic prosperity…..on and on…and the song stays the same…..need to do something but NOBODY has a workable plan…..

Let us take a bit of time and look at the deficit through glasses that let us see into reality…..First of all Political wire has a very good piece on the deficit……

President Obama and many lawmakers say they will work to cut the federal deficit, but a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News survey underscores the challenges they may face in taking specific steps that could help reduce the red ink.

Key findings: 57% said they were uncomfortable with gradually raising the Social Security retirement age to 69 over the next 60 years, 70% were uncomfortable with making cuts to Medicare, Social Security and defense in order to reduce the deficit, 60% said they were uncomfortable with increasing tax revenue through measures such as raising the gasoline tax, limiting tax deductions on many home mortgages and altering corporate taxation.

Said pollster Peter Hart: “Everybody wants to cut the deficit and cut the spending. But at the end of the day, everybody wants a choice that doesn’t affect their well-being.”

But as I have said …not everyone sees the deficit in the same light…..Yahoo news blog, The Lookout has a pretty good look at the deficit….

Ever since concerns over the deficit took center-stage in Washington earlier this year, several prominent economists — all progressives — have been pushing back, claiming not simply that proposed spending cuts are too deep, or that the rich should be asked to sacrifice more. Rather, they’ve challenged the entire premise of the debate: that a budget shortfall caused by over-spending and under-taxation stands to put an undue burden on future generations, and that cuts to government programs, including Social Security, can help fix the problem. That view, they say, is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of what’s driving the deficit and how government spending works. In fact, they argue, as one recently put it, that “the current deficit is a positive.

“The starting point of the deficit contrarians’ argument is that the deficit was caused not by over-spending and under-taxation, as the current debate would have it, but by the collapse in tax revenues that resulted from the 2008 financial crisis and the subsequent economic slump.

I guess I would be a deficit contrarian….I do not see where tweaking SS or earmarks or any of the proposals flying around Washington will do anything to make it better……things will get better when business returns to making things and selling things…..buying up other companies is not going to help the deficit….the stockholders maybe…but that has little to do with the deficit… does it?

But It Is A Ponzi Scheme!

I have heard many, especially those on the Right that are trying to make it like some kind of scam,  call the Social Security system a Ponzi Scheme……..but the problem is….I do not think they know what a Ponzi Scheme is all about…….I mean NO disrespect but I heartily disagree with the assumption…… has a great explanation….

The term originates with Charles Ponzi, a Boston swindler who conned investors out of millions in 1920 by promising returns of up to 100 percent in 90 days on investments in foreign postal coupons. After first-round investors harvested those profits, others flocked to Ponzi, unaware his “profits” consisted of money paid in by other investors.

In contrast, the administration says, Social Security is more like a “pay-as-you-go” system transferring payroll tax payments by American workers to American retirees.

Earlier this year, we quoted the Congressional Budget Office’s projection that this year Social Security would deliver more in benefit checks than it’s projected to gather in taxes.   U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minnesota, that Social Security is out of money. In its latest annual report, issued in August, the Trustees of Social Security and Medicare trust funds confirms that tax income is running short of benefits paid. Regardless, the report says, benefit payments will not be exhausted until 2037 because until then the administration can cover the expected difference with investments made via the Social Security trust fund.
“First, in the case of Social Security, no one is being misled,” Zuckoff’s January 2009 article in Fortune magazine says. “…Social Security is exactly what it claims to be: A mandatory transfer payment system under which current workers are taxed on their incomes to pay benefits, with no promises of huge returns.”

Second, he writes, “A Ponzi scheme is unsustainable because the number of potential investors is eventually exhausted. That’s when the last people to participate are out of luck; the music stops and there’s nowhere to sit. It’s true that Social Security faces a huge burden — and a significant, long-term financing problem — in light of retiring Baby Boomers…But Social Security can be, and has been, tweaked and modified to reflect changes in the size of the taxpaying workforce and the number of beneficiaries. It would take great political will, but the government could change benefit formulas or take other steps, like increasing taxes, to keep the system from failing.”

Third, his article says, “Social Security is morally the polar opposite of a Ponzi scheme… At the height of the Great Depression, our society (see “Social”) resolved to create a safety net (see “Security”) in the form of a social insurance policy that would pay modest benefits to retirees, the disabled and the survivors of deceased workers.By design, that means a certain amount of wealth transfer, with richer workers subsidizing poorer ones. That might rankle, but it’s not fraud… None of this is to suggest that Social Security is a perfect system or that there aren’t sizeable problems facing the incoming administration and Congress. But it’s not a Ponzi scheme. And Ponzi himself, who died in a hospital charity ward with only enough money for his burial, would never have recognized it as his own.”

I apologize for the length of the explanation but I felt that it was necessary to clarify the issue once and for all….I realize that to some people Social Security is a thorn in their side…but to call it something it is not is being very unfair and dishonest…..

Before I start bitching…I want to wish all a Happy Thanksgiving……enjoy family, food and fun…..

Yesterday, I was watching MSNBC at an ungodly early hour and they had the dude from Time previewing the next issue…..about the things over the last decade, 2000-2010, and the military came up and the war in Vietnam was used as a comparison….this is when Peggy Noonan of the Wall Street journal made a statement that I had to devote a post to….she said that “Americans for the most part were supportive of the soldiers that fought in the Vietnam War…..”  She was waxing arrogantly poetic….

As a vet from that war I tell her she is dead WRONG!  When I returned I was NOT treated with respect nor support….I was seen as some leper to be ignored and pushed into the shadows….People in the “heartland” did NOT support the soldiers, they did support the military….NOT the same thing!  They supported the government in its endless battles with Godless Communism….but as far as the poor bastards, like me, that actually did the fighting….NO one gave a shit!  Communism must be defeated at any cost! And we WERE that price!

The media made the soldier, especially the ones protesting for the end of the war, as the enemy from within……and since most people got their information from the 6 o’clock news…..we, the vets of Vietnam, especially those of us that fought for an end of the war, became the enemy…..

Ms, Noonan shows the same lack of memory on what actually was happening in those days…they prefer to pretend it was all different some how and try to re-write the history of those days and make it like Americans are ALWAYS appreciative of their soldiers…..that is NOT the case!

The truth is that the American people owe the vets of Vietnam more than they could ever repay….and this lame attempt to do so is nothing but a slap in the face to all those people that were treated like sh*t by their country and that includes the national media……

When I hear these self-adsorbed, arrogant people who should be searching for the truth, tell out right lies…I feel compelled to say….BULLSH*T!
