I have been giving my perceptions of the whole Syria/ISIS thing since the beginning and so far I have had not much response….only the predictable…..ISIS Bad……that is a forgone conclusion…..but what is the situation these days?

The conventional wisdom is there is a military solution to all the problems in Syria……but I have my doubts……military action can weaken and even degrade but is it a hope for a successful conclusion…..

Finally there is the promise from Obama…..we will “degrade and destroy” ISIS…..and too many keep hanging onto the idea of a regime change for Syria as the solution to the problem…..below is a piece on that subject……

Granted the above article is from the perspective of a Libertarian point of view……while I do not agree with them on much this piece made some good points……for instance our regime change in Iraq has been an expensive and disastrous failure…..will Syria be any different?
My purpose is to try and keep my readers informed about this situation……there have been enough American deaths in this region …..Syria could possibly become yet another quagmire in the Middle East…..

Deaths of those dedicated young souls who place themselves in harm’s way for the sake of “Our Freedoms” — (I am getting sick and tired of hearing how this person or that person in the military died for “Our Freedoms” when they are killed in one of those Industrial/Military Complex sausage grinders the profiteers keep stirred up — “Our Freedoms” have nothing to do with it but it is a good phrase to help those who lose loved ones feel better about their loss — if that is possible — But to the point: Death of American Service Personnel will always be part and parcel of the new normal until and unless somebody gets the votes to shut down the war machine that tries to keep America as policeman for the world.
I cannot disagree…..but Americans do not like the term “diplomacy” they think it means weakness….I disagree….to me it means a thoughtful approach to a situation before the shooting begins….chuq
Yes, I remember “Peace In Our Time.” That did a lot of good didn’t it? Diplomacy is great if the two sides can sit down and keep their tempers under control but then when you think about it, wars come about because people can’t control their tempers don’t they?
I think the League of Nations and the United Nations are both useless and should be scrapped entirely and negotiations hammered out among litigants and adversaries through such things as NATO —- whatever happened to the Southeast Asian Treaty Organization? Remember that one? —Sometimes Diplomacy is only a stalling tactic until the military can get their forces into position … I am remembering Pearl Harbor right now and the Jap Ambassador sitting in Washington on a mission of peace while the planes were attacking …. If Diplomacy worked I would be more in favor of it.
Why would diplomacy ever work? As long as the only option is war……the UN is a good idea…too bad it is the US and its allies that turned it into apiece of crap…….sad I have written about this and it as usual fell on blinded eyes…oh well what did I expect….chuq
But the operative idea here is that it “Did” turn into crap! And crap it remains unto this very day.
Diplomacy will not work because NO ONE wants it to…..it is nothing but a shame to further the military inventions…..chuq
