The new Star Wars film is a hit (we all knew it would be)……but did you know that Tataoine is a real place….and no it is not in a galaxy far far away….much closer than that….it is a desert world (think Dune)…..
When the original movie came out and I heard the name of the planet that Luke was living on….. I was amazed for I had been to the world of the movie….it is in Southern Tunisia…..
As the world goes crazy for The Force Awakens, the home of the saga’s original locations has failed to capitalise on the new release

It is a beautiful place…..I guess if you can find beauty in the desert…..which I can…..
In the desert, there is an incredible world of life at its most poignant… Each square foot, when examined closely, contains a hundred tiny forms of life; plants, fungi, insects, reptiles, all in a dance of survival, against the challenge of the environs….
During the summers of my teens, I used to go visit an uncle living in Tempe, Arizona; he and I would go walking into the desert from a random road side parking place, with his revolver, and some canteens of water… Some of the best times of my youth were spent in the desert, surrounded by miles of nothing but yucca and creosote bushes…. and a few coyotes….

The colors are amazing…..if one looks closely there are so many instead of tan….
Exactly… in that square foot I mentioned, the entire spectrum can be seen… Some of the fungi growing on the rocks are amazing shades of different colors….
Good memories; gonna have to go back soon….
