Are You Politically Correct?

A subject that begs a few words.

These days of political rhetoric the term “politically correct” and variations of the word are everywhere…..especially it one is prone to what pretends to be conservatism……and this election is ripe for the use of the term.  It is a term when used the wombats on the Right cheer and applaud…..

But what is meant by the term “politically correct”?

In today’s usage it is an off-handed insult to anyone that disagrees with Right minded individuals.  In other words if you do not use the terminology that the GOP uses then you are suffering from “political correctness”…..if you do not use the term “radical Islamic terrorism” then you are being PC……so if you disagree with these people on any subject then you are being PC while they feel they are well informed……no matter how many times they are proven to be mistaken.

The use of the term is in place of other terms they like but try to be somehow intellectual….terms like “panty waste” or  “bleeding heart” or “apologist” and other such derogatory forms of name calling.

The election of 2016 is full of the term PC…..for example….if you refer to undocumented aliens instead of illegal aliens…… then you are being PC…..if you use Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas…..then you are being PC…..or so on and so on….(you probably have others)…..

Basically it boils down to one simple fact…..if you do not use the term they want you to use then you are suffering from “political correctness”.  And if you choose not to use their demented terminology then you are the worst kind of PC….a LIBERAL.

Another thing I find fascinating……has anyone (people who think Trump is some sort of messiah) taken the time to listen to all the low class rhetoric surrounding Trump?

Apparently not.  If they had then they would worried about the direction he would take this country if he were successful…..as it is most of these people are so concerned with what is happening in the US because of all the PC talk……and all the time Trump is talking about taking this country down the path they are so afraid the country will follow if he is not elected….

I would say it is because they will not take the time to think about what is happening…..but I know that is not the case…..sadly I know exactly why…..and so do they.

  1. Before I had any affiliation with politics, I was taught the importance of polite speech as a subset of basic good manners. It’s not avoiding the issue, or being untruthful, to take a minute to choose words that aren’t grossly insulting or obviously offensive. It’s an indication that you can disagree with another, and still treat them with respect as an individual. If that’s political correctness, whoever is making the charge may walk East (or West) until their hair floats.

  2. I’m tired of trying to figure out every word – just in case someone somewhere at sometime gets offended – we DO still have the right to free speech. I don’t try to hurt anyone and that should be taken into consideration too.

    1. I agree….I think it is silly to use PC as an insult….if understanding is not clear….then as for clarification, right? chuq

  3. The phrase here in the UK, oft banded about by the tabloid press is “Political correctness – gone mad!” As though it was on the loose and running around threatening everyone.

      1. No, I have not worked in social services but many of my freinds have/do which keeps me close to what’s going on. Which is the exact opposite with the Daily Mail – so I only read it for entertainment.

  4. This term, ‘politically correct’ is a label. Any label is a word, which brings us back to the old saw, “The word is NOT the thing.” Each time someone labels something with ANY word, it removes it one step further from actual reality. This has been proven time and again….

The other part of the Problem is that 99% of humanity, oligarchs, politicians, all the Asininnies, as well as the people on whom they prey, i.e. most of the rest of humanity, BELIEVES that words ARE the thing; when a label is applied, people BELIEVE the thing labeled is just that…. It’s a strictly hairless ape quality; the other great apes don’t use verbal language, and thus are spared this separation from Reality, which exists only in the human mind, with no real connection to reality….

This habit of depending on illusion to be real is a large part of why our species cannot seem to ever find peace, with each other, or within themselves…. Until people learn to remember a lot of what ancient sages knew, before adding all the complications of society to the human picture, they will be condemned to making the same mistakes about what is real, and what isn’t, right up until their final gasp as a species…

If one is going to base their life on lies and illusions, it’s difficult to get them to see beyond their own noses, or, desires….and, if one doesn’t pay close attention to what is Real, it will kill you, every time…. Just like any principle of nature….

    1. I have to laugh; I tried to find a quote for the above comment, which would have saved me, and y’all, a lot of words…. I found it in a piece I am writing for a future blog; it was still fresh in my mind. It says, simply:

“In the sky, there is no distinction of east and west; people create distinctions out of their own minds and then believe them to be true.” — Buddha

SIGH… if the nose grows, it shows. I think we’re all Bozos on this bus…. (thanks to the Firesign Theater)

    2. In complete agreement gigoid the dubious…
However,I am sick of having to watch my words…..
It is not because I am unkind….
It is because if I wish to make a point… it might be seen as P.C. incorrect…
Then I get flak…eg I am a racist if I disapprove of Zionist agenda…or Trans/trans gender wanting to be called ‘women’
      Get over it!
In the meantime I hear the word ‘negro’ and ‘dwarf’ are now politically incorrect…
Also ‘learning disabilities’ or whatever the rest of them come up with…I cannot keep up with the latest ‘correctness.’
How about we just ‘grunt’ instead.
Cow towing to ‘correctness’ on the basis of hurting their feelings is completely nonsense…in my view.
      Not,that I go around being insulting….
But i sure feel like it sometimes…..:)

      1. We’re human; we are going to label things, because it’s easier to think, and talk about them with others when we use them… which is why it is so important to at least pay attention to HOW we say things… The labels we use only cause us problems when we allow them to be based on false data or faith/belief in illusions…. Correctly labeled ideas are useful….

        😉

      2. Besides, I agree completely with you; fuck ’em if they can’t take it. People who let their feelings dictate their actions are, frankly, human, and idiots, just because they can be. So, let them grow up & learn the one lesson they need to learn, i.e. “That’s life. Deal with it.”

    A very good saying gigoid…..
Trouble is we are unfortunately only too human..
    We bleed,we have opinions…alas…
The greatest deception men suffer is from their own opinions.
    Leonardo da Vinci
perhaps it is best not to have opinions……
Then what would we have to talk about?
    Let alone write about……..
Hypocrisy is all too evident in the world…
    including my own.
