The politics of climate change

World leaders went to Paris….not specifically in remembrance of those killed by the terrorist attack….nope…this time about 150 world leaders showed up for a summit on the climate.

After the speeches and the leaders go home the negotiations start to find common ground for a climate agreement…I believe there have been others….like Tokyo and Copenhagen….and the results were predictable….not a damn thing happened…..but now everything is different and the world is serious about finding a solution to this problem.

The biggest question is….if they somehow come up with an agreement will it be binding?

There are many opinions and this press is just one among many….

No sanctions for countries that renege on their commitments, therefore, no point in making a legally binding agreement?

The summit is a good thing….that is until you see who is the sponsor…..

If there are any thoughts…..please share and we can discuss……

    1. Good point…..eventually the world will have to address this problem….but it is typical reaction to a growing problem…..thanx for the visit…..chuq

  1. I was “Green” back when they call us radicals and tree-huggers. Frankly, no more talk – a lot of action is needed immediately – because I think it’s too late.

  2. It is Maya!
    Dost thou not know her?
    Illusion — dreams — phantoms.
But, to the wise, Maya is more.

But, to the wise, Maya is more.
    Look around:
    All that thou see’st,
Trees and shrubs, The grass at thy feet,
    All that walks or creeps,
All that flies from tree to tree,
All is unreal: All is Maya.
Our bodies, our limbs, our very thoughts.
We ourselves are slaves to Maya.
    What remaineth? Who can say?
    Love to the lover,
    The child to the mother,
    The song to the singer,
    God to the worshipper;
These, wandering thro’ the world of Maya,
Are perchance shadows of that which is.

I’m saddened in all I do today, because, I know in my GUT, it IS too late. All the beauty, all the love, all of Mankind’s works, all will be for naught, for we have never learned to understand ourselves….

      1. Maybe, maybe not. If the permafrost keeps melting, it can cause an atmospheric catalyzation process which could conceivably leach ALL the oxygen from the air inside a few DAYS. If it does happen, we could all be gone inside a year or two…. There is some bad shit in that latest climate report from the US Environmental Report from last year, much of which we don’t even have a clue how to deal with, and none of which we have any idea of how to stop….

SIGH… looking grim; what pisses me off is that my grandchildren may never even have a chance to live to the age of reason….

        Fucking assholes….

        gigoid….

      2. I fear for the same…..my granddaughter deserves better than what we have to offer her as a future….chuq

      3. Yep. If there is anything that could make me go over the edge, and go hunting, it is the thought of what these assholes are doing to the future of MY children, and their children, ad infinitum….

        g, td

      4. The future means nothing….live for today and the future will take care of itself…..and that mentality will doom this planet.

  3. Just the very concept of corporate sponsorship of an international government negotiation is deeply offensive. What? Are we supposed to believe the richest governments in the world can’t afford to send some diplomatic dipshits to Paris for a week? If that’s even remotely true, we’re all fucked anyway.

It also guarantees nothing significant will occur. Corporations love the world exactly the way it is. They brought it to us.
