What’s Driving Middle East Terrorism?

I recall all the mocking that was given when someone tried to equate the rise of terrorism with that of poverty.  Some Right wing sources made light and even a joke or two over the comment….

But good old boy GW had this to say about the subject back in 2002……

US president George W. Bush told the United Nations in 2002, that “we fight against poverty because hope is an answer to terror.”

While I believe that poverty does have a spot on the list of causes of terrorism…… it is not the only driving force behind the acts……politics is a much bigger driving force….it interests me that some cannot see where extreme poverty could drive someone into acts of terrorism…..but that is another day and another post…..the below article is a good piece on this……

  1. In some ways, human nature can be boiled down from what we see to its true essential qualities. In my opinion, any act of “terrorism” is an act of war. Whether the war is declared, or not, whether it is a war of one against many, or many against one, or a few. doesn’t matter a whit. The motivation, regardless of its ethical or moral status, is also relatively unimportant to understanding of the act. People are violent, period. It is a part of their nature. and they WILL, in one fashion or another, find some way to allow that part of their nature to be expressed. Thus, these utter fools who want a world without violence, because of their lack of understanding of their own nature, will always be disappointed.

Once we accept that fact of Reality, the search for motivation for such acts becomes much simpler. it will, in some way, ALWAYS, ALWAYS be that one person, or many people in concert, have made the decision to act in a violent manner (here’s the key part) in order to fulfill THEIR OWN SELF INTEREST. It may be the self-interest of ONE person, or many in concert. It doesn’t matter because every act of this nature always comes down to someone deciding their self-interest is more important than anyone else’s…

The details of any of the acts can always be boiled down to that level, whether the perpetrator is a single, crazy, solitary white Christian fanatic, a Muslim sect which believes in their own interpretation of holy words or. a government, serving the self-interest of corporate snakeheads, who go :bombs away” at the slightest provocation… Personally, I think the assholes just like to blow stuff up; adolescents who never grew up…

I think terrorism is a myth; only a person who has no courage can be terrified at all. I’ve never felt a second’s terror at the reports of ANY of the atrocities we see. because I know incidents such as these are common amongst all the people of this planet….

We are the Vicious Apes, and we LIKE to fucking fight. Each other, the universe, doesn’t matter. And, one way or another, until every fucking person alive accepts that within themselves. they will NEVER learn to either control the urges, or live a life without violence… It is our nature to be violent….. get fucking used to it, and you can learn to STOP DOING IT!

Sheesh…. the stupidity rampant in the world today DRIVES ME FUCKING CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know I’m pissed when I start overusing the Bang keys….

Terrorism only exists in the minds of the terrified. Deal with it. and start fucking protecting yourselves with your ONLY weapon of usefulness… It’s sitting there, right between your ears….

This doesn’t include those whom I call friends; if they could be terrified. they wouldn’t be my friends….

gigoid the dubious. on a roll….

    😎

    1. “Terrorism only exists in the minds of the terrified”….absolutely brilliant…..and you said you had nothing today….love it….chuq

  2. We are just vicious apes! Witness the San Bernardino Massacre. I live 4 miles from the three different scenes and while I’m cautious and afraid, I’m not terrified. Humanity is mostly Humane but then again, some of us aren’t. We don’t know the motive completely for this attack but I will not alter my life style for a few. dru

  3. Well, anytime you have large populations of unemployed/underemployed young males with minimal prospects for the future and nothing much to do …bad shit tends to happen! Examples are everywhere, but I suppose the most famous example is pre-Nazi Germany.

If you have a large base of frustration, desperation, poverty, etc…then some douche-bag is going to try to corral them and get them to do his bidding by “inspiring” them with promises of hope & change….er….well, you get the idea. (I think I just bumped my name up a couple spots on the Watch List.)

  4. I guess they forgot to study the French Revolution in school, or for that matter the Luddites and I am part of the uneducated great unwashed and can see that comparison. dru
