Big Day For Big Brass Summit

Today is the day when Hogsbreath and Donny meet with the top military commanders and lay out whatever plan the War Department has in store for the world.

A lot of speculation on just what this rare meeting of the brass has brewing for our military.

Just one more speculation to add to the long list….

Top military leaders—including the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff—have registered serious concerns with the Trump administration’s planned change in defense strategy ahead of the meeting involving hundreds of generals and admirals, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and President Trump scheduled for Tuesday in Virginia. Current and former officials described the criticism to the Washington Post of the changes that would make the Pentagon’s priority possible threats at home, reduce the focus on China, and diminish US activities in Europe and Africa.

A Pentagon spokesman would not say whether internal objections have been raised but said Hegseth has ordered up a strategy “that is laser focused on advancing President Trump’s commonsense America First, Peace Through Strength agenda,” adding, “This process is still ongoing.” The objections reflect frustration with a new strategy that officers consider “myopic and potentially irrelevant, given the president’s highly personal and sometimes contradictory approach to foreign policy,” per the Post. After drafts of the plan were circulated, Gen. Dan Caine, the Joint Chiefs chairman who disagrees with deemphasizing the potential threat from China, gave Hegseth what one insider called “very frank feedback.”

If this is true that there will be less importance of China then why is this a story?

The Pentagon has asked defense contractors to double or quadruple production rates, fearing that low U.S. stockpiles would be insufficient for a potential future conflict with China.

People familiar with the matter say the Pentagon has asked the defense contractors to massively scale production, focusing on a dozen critical weapons, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal, which led to a bump in U.S. defense stocks. However, experts cited in the report warn that the U.S. government will need to raise more funds and sign more contracts to meet their expectations, which some believe are unrealistic.

And the lies and confusion continues…..

We will not know about this meeting until someone steps up and lets the public know what we are in for with this band of thugs.

Any deep thoughts before the results are presented?

The “Big Brass” Summit

Tomorrow will be the hastily called meeting of all the top generals in our military…..and there has been all kinds of speculation at what the Hell is this all about…..here are some thoughts on that….

In the absence of an explanation for ordering hundreds of generals and admirals to Virginia to hear from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Tuesday, possible agenda items are being floated. The mystery only deepened in the Oval Office on Thursday when reporters asked about the meeting. “I think it’s great when generals and top people want to come to the United States to be with our now-secretary of war,” President Trump answered—though it wasn’t their idea. “It’s not particularly unusual that generals who report to the secretary of War and then to the president of the United States are coming to speak with the secretary of War,” Vice President JD Vance said, per the Hill. He added, “It’s actually not unusual at all”—though no one can name a similar meeting.

  • Warriors: The nation’s military leaders are in for a talking-to about the “warrior ethos,” per the Washington Post. One person familiar with planning discussions said, “It’s meant to be an eyeball-to-eyeball kind of conversation. He wants to see the generals.” Pentagon officials questioning the whole idea pointed out that many of the officers on their way served in combat. “They don’t need a talk from Secretary Hegseth on the warrior ethos,” one Defense official said.
  • Consequences: Officials told Politico that the event will be something like a pep rally, though maybe one with an edge. Hegseth wants to deliver messages about conduct and expectations, they said, and stress that they need to move in the same direction or face career consequences.
  • Dread: Anxiety is high among the generals and admirals over the meeting, per the New York Times, with some of them suspecting firings are ahead. It’s hard for many to imagine that so many commanders are being pulled from all over the world, including places with ongoing conflicts, just to hear a speech billed as lasting less than an hour. Trump said the generals want to see new equipment. “They’re going to be talking about the newest weapons, etc.,” he said, per Politico. There’s no word about what new weapons there might be.
  • A historical point: Hegseth did respond to one post. Retired Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges wrote that in 1935, Germany’s generals were “called to a surprise assembly in Berlin” and “required to swear a personal oath to the Führer.” Trump was quoted during his first term as saying, “I need the kind of generals that Hitler had.” Hegseth answered Hodges’ post with “Cool story, General.”

If this is solely an attempt to get the generals loyalty tested then this is sick and a bit pathetic.  They have already taken an oath….to the Constitution and the country….do they need to show more?

It will be good to see just how much integrity and guts these people have….

As usual Donny has to turn this meeting into a clusterf**k….

Word has gone out from the White House that President Trump plans to attend the hastily called meeting of hundreds of the nation’s top generals and admirals on Tuesday, a gathering ordered last week by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who said he’ll address the brass. Trump’s decision has scrambled the security arrangements. “We have confirmation from the White House that POTUS is now attending the speech on Tuesday,” says a planning document sent Saturday, reports the Washington Post, which has seen it. A notice distributed at the Pentagon said Trump’s presence at the Virginia base will “significantly change the security posture” of the event.

For one, the president’s attendance at Quantico means the Secret Service is now responsible for security, with little notice. Two Democratic members of the Senate Armed Services Committee criticized the meeting on Saturday as an expensive political stunt—estimates put the tab in the millions—that raises security risks, per the New York Times. “For an administration obsessed with rooting out waste, this abrupt, time and resource-intensive meeting of our military’s top commanders is absurd,” said a statement by Sens. Tammy Duckworth and Mazie Hirono.

There’s been little explanation from the Trump administration about why the generals and admirals have been summoned from all over the world, and there was none provided for why Trump decided even later to take the stage from Hegseth. Such a meeting usually would be planned months in advance, per USA Today. Current and past military officials have expressed concerns about the purpose of the meeting, including that it could be overtly political, which Trump’s attendance suggests. In a speech at Fort Bragg in June, Trump called protesters “animals,” repeated his false claim that the 2020 election was stolen from him, and endorsed conspiracy theories.

If this was a secret meeting (closed doors) will Donny be making one of his rambling babbling speeches?

Do nay of you have a thought on this meeting?

Breaking News:  Donny and BiBi will make a pronouncement on the fate of Gaza as Bibi visits.

WTF? What Is He Doing?

Word has come out that the leader of the War Department has called a meeting like no other…..

US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has ordered hundreds of US military generals and admirals stationed around the world to an urgent meeting, scheduled to take place at the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia, next week, The Washington Post reported on Thursday.

There are approximately 800 generals and admirals in the US and at US bases worldwide, and sources told the Post that Hegseth’s order applies to every senior officer with the rank of brigadier general or rear admiral and above. The directive has been described as highly unusual and possibly unprecedented.

“None of the people who spoke with the Post could recall a defense secretary ever ordering so many of the military’s generals and admirals to assemble like this,” the Post report said.

The reason for the meeting is unclear, and even the generals and admirals are reportedly unaware of the purpose. The meeting may be related to Hegseth’s recent orders for major changes at the Pentagon, including a directive to reduce the number of four-star officers by 20%.

Another possibility is that Hegseth is ordering the meeting to prepare the senior military officers for a new war of major military escalation. A congressional aide speaking to CNN said that unless Hegseth planned to announce “a major new military campaign or a complete overhaul of the military command structure, I can’t imagine a good reason for this.”

There are several areas around the world where the US could potentially launch a new war, including Venezuela, as the US has deployed a fleet of warships to the Caribbean and has begun bombing boats in the area under the pretext of fighting drug trafficking, though US officials have told The New York Times that the real purpose of the deployment is regime change.

The US and Israel could be preparing to launch another war on Iran, as the US has maintained a hardline policy against the Islamic Republic since the ceasefire that ended the 12-Day War, and tensions are soaring in Eastern Europe between Russia and NATO. President Trump has also recently floated the idea of retaking Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan, an idea that would require military force since it has been rejected by the Taliban.

The War Department may also be looking to turn military operations inward, as President Trump recently declared that Antifa is a “domestic terrorist organization.”

Later on Thursday, both President Trump and Vice President JD Vance downplayed the meeting. “It’s not particularly unusual that generals who report to the secretary of War and then to the president of the United States are coming to speak with the secretary of War,” Vance said. “It’s actually not unusual at all and I think it’s odd that you’ve made it into such a big story.”

WTF is going on?

Everyone is speculating on just what does this means….. so I guess I will join in….

With Donny’s newest EO declaring anyone in opposition as the ‘enemy’ I feel that this move by Hogsbreath is a meeting to plan the possible use of US troops to carry out Donny’s ‘dismantling’ of the ‘radical Left’.

If I am wrong then why does he need ALL the top generals and admirals in one place for a secret meeting?

Since the popular meme for this week is the destruction of the radical Left then my assumption makes sense (at least to me)….

Or

Could it be that the War Department is ready to drop the hammer on Greenland?

So much bullshit coming out of DC these days it is hard to pinpoint what the chowder heads are thinking.

Any deep thoughts?

Big Three Meet

Over the weekend three members of the BRICS, China, Russia and India, met and discussed the happenings of the day…..

At a summit in Tianjin, eastern China, on Monday, the leaders of China, Russia, and India offered a carefully choreographed show of unity aimed at the West. Cameras caught Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin, and Narendra Modi exchanging handshakes and laughter, with Modi at one point linking hands with Xi and Putin, who represent an alternative world order challenging the US, per the New York Times. The summit was part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which drew over 20 regional leaders and featured speeches that subtly rebuked US foreign policy. Xi urged members to reject “Cold War mentality” and “bloc confrontation,” while Modi endorsed multilateralism and a larger global role for countries like India.

The discussions, coming as the US escalates tariffs on India and tightens its stance toward China and Russia, are seen as a response to Washington’s hardline trade policies, which have nudged India closer to the other two powers. Modi’s warm gestures, including a shared limousine ride and lengthy conversation with Putin, marked a shift from India’s traditionally cautious approach to relations with China and Russia.

While China and India remain at odds over territorial issues, Modi said there was an “atmosphere of peace and stability” between them, per the BBC. India’s economic reliance on the West cannot be easily replaced by Russia, whose economy is weakened by sanctions. But as one analyst tells the Times, “the White House should grasp that its policies will result in other countries looking for alternatives to meet their interests.”

Interesting since China and India have been at each others throats over some deposited border territory….did they make nice?

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China, on Monday, and told the Russian leader that New Delhi and Moscow should deepen cooperation in “all sectors.”

The comments from Modi are the latest sign that tariffs and other pressure from the US won’t impact India’s import of Russian oil and its trade relationship with Russia in general. In a post on X, Modi shared a photo of himself and Putin in a vehicle en route to their meeting, and said conversations with the Russian leader were always “insightful.”

After the meeting, Modi described the talks as “excellent” and said they discussed “ways to deepen bilateral cooperation in all spheres, including trade, fertilizers, space, security, and culture.”

In Tianjin, Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered remarks in which he criticized “bullying” practices, an apparent reference to US sanctions and other economic pressures. Xi, Modi, and Putin briefly huddled together at the summit, and the 10 SCO member states called out the US by name in a joint declaration that condemned the recent US-Israeli war on Iran, which is an SCO member.

The statement said that the SCO states “strongly condemn the June 2025 Israeli and US military aggression on Iran targeting civilian nuclear infrastructure, causing casualties (and) violation of international law and UN Charter principles.” They also strongly condemned “acts causing civilian casualties and humanitarian disasters in Gaza.”

3 From The East

A couple of nations from the diabolical East will meet and compare notes….China, Russia, North Korea…..should we be worried?

Chinese President Xi Jinping is making a bold diplomatic play as he prepares to host both Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un for a military parade marking the 80th anniversary of Japan’s World War II surrender, which ended its occupation of regions of China. It’s the first time the three leaders will gather together. The Sept. 3 gathering in Beijing, to bring together leaders from 26 countries in all, including Indonesia, Iran, Cuba, Pakistan, and Malaysia, serves as a high-profile showcase of China’s expanding influence on the world stage, per the BBC and NPR. While President Trump continues to struggle for a diplomacy breakthrough in Ukraine and seeks another meeting with Kim, Xi is demonstrating his ability to convene key players.

Kim’s presence is especially notable, marking the first time a North Korean leader has attended a Chinese military parade since 1959. Despite speculation that Kim’s growing alignment with Putin might have frayed ties with Beijing, his first visit to the country in six years signals otherwise. The visit also offers Kim “legitimacy,” per the BBC, as he shares a stage with other world leaders. Xi, meanwhile, stands to gain leverage in upcoming negotiations with Washington. Trump, who’s under pressure to resolve trade tensions and will be in the region at the end of October, has said he’s open to meeting Xi. As the BBC reports, “Xi will want the strongest hand possible as negotiations go on” and, following this visit, “he may even have information his US counterpart does not.”

Is this a strategy session on dealing with the US?

Are we looking at a new bloc to counter US adventurism?

Will this be more troubles in the Pacific?

Will this be money thrown at a ‘rising’ threat?

Should we be worried?

The “Z” Show Comes To Town

Yesterday the big day for meetings….Ukraine and NATO came to visit with Donny and the Boyz…..Putin is gone (for now) and the other side of the conflict came to have their say….

Volodymyr Zelensky has arrived at the White House for his high-stakes meeting with President Trump. The US president greeted him with a handshake at the White House entrance, and, when asked if he had a message for the Ukrainian people, responded, “We love them,” reports the New York Times.

  • “It’s an honor to have the president of Ukraine with us,” Trump said in opening remarks to reporters. “We had a good meeting just a while ago with the president of Russia,” he said. “Today’s meeting is very important.”
  • Zelensky, for his part, thanked Trump for his personal efforts to end the war.
  • Just before he arrived, Zelensky wrote that the goal was to achieve “a reliable and lasting peace” and to establish a “new security architecture,” reports the BBC.
  • After the Trump-Zelensky meeting ends, Trump will greet European leaders in the State Dining Room, then meet with them and Zelensky, per the Hill. Among those present, per the AP:

    • NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte
    • European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen
    • British Prime Minister Keir Starmer
    • French President Emmanuel Macron
    • German Chancellor Friedrich Merz
    • Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni
    • Finnish President Alexander Stubb

Zelensky was given the ultimatum by Donny to wear a suit and tie…..and he relented….

It was a light moment before the most serious of talks: President Trump complimented Volodymyr Zelensky’s dark suit as he greeted him Monday at the White House. “Best I have,” said Zelensky, reports the Wall Street Journal. “I cannot believe it, I love it,” Trump responded. The subject may seem trivial, but “the bonhomie evinced during the exchange suggests that this meeting could go far better than the last one,” per the Journal.

  • Background: Zelensky’s attire had been a source of speculation because he wore a military-style sweatshirt—in homage to his troops—before his last White House visit, the one that ended disastrously. Trump reportedly viewed the lack of formal attire as a sign of disrespect.
  • Another compliment: Brian Glenn, chief White House correspondent for Real America’s Voice, told Zelensky, “You look fabulous in that suit,” and Trump added, “I said the same thing.” At the last meeting, Glenn aggressively questioned Zelensky’s decision to forego a suit.

One very important part of the meeting met…..the suit.

Then the meeting, the very important meeting, took place and all went well(?)

President Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky have wrapped up their one-on-one meeting and have moved on to a larger meeting with European leaders. How far things have progressed toward ending the Russia-Ukraine fighting remained unclear, though both leaders sounded optimistic about the next steps.

  • Trump said he planned to call Vladimir Putin immediately after Monday’s meetings had finished, reports the Wall Street Journal, and he seemed confident about arranging a three-way meeting with Putin, himself, and Zelensky. “We’re going to try and work out a tri-lat after that and see if we can get it finished,” he said, per the Washington Post.
  • Zelensky, for his part, said he had a “very good conversation” with Trump about “sensitive matters including security guarantees,” per the BBC.
  • Trump did not answer directly when asked if the US was prepared to send troops to Ukraine as part of any security agreement. “We will give them very good protection, very good security. That’s part of it,” Trump said, per Axios. “We’ll be involved.”
  • Zelensky seemed open to the idea of a three-way meeting, at one point telling reporters that the thorny issue of territorial concessions could be worked out at a face-to-face summit with the Russian leader, per the New York Times. (Putin, to be clear, has yet to agree to any such meeting.) The Times also notes that Zelensky said, “Thank you for the map, by the way,” after his meeting with Trump, suggesting that the idea of land swaps had been broached.
  • Though Trump again said he didn’t think a ceasefire was necessary before a more permanent agreement, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz had a different view. “To be honest, we all would like to see a ceasefire, the latest from the next meeting on,” he told Trump, per the BBC.

Then Donny moved on to those from NATO…..

  • Next meetings: Zelensky said at a press conference in Lafayette Park after the White House sessions said he’s willing to meet with Putin. He said whether Trump would join them later would depend on the first meeting, per the New York Times. He said no date or location had been set. Putin’s foreign policy aide said his boss and Trump had agreed only to have senior aides conduct direct Russia-Ukraine talks.
  • Europe’s lobbying: French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and other leaders tried to cast their goals as the same as Trump’s, per the Washington Post—suggesting a ceasefire and US security guarantees for Ukraine are supported by Trump. But the president suggested the war can end without a ceasefire, and wouldn’t quite say what he might do to aid Ukraine’s defense in a peace deal. Trump again described Putin, who rejected a ceasefire at the Alaska summit, as eager to stop the fighting. Of a ceasefire, Trump told the Europeans, “As of this moment, it’s not happening.”
  • Security guarantees: The Europeans stressed the need for security guarantees for Ukraine to protect against future aggression and seem to see it as important to their nations, as well. “When we speak about security guarantees, we speak about the whole security of the European continent,” Macron said, per the AP.
  • Trump’s response: “During the meeting we discussed Security Guarantees for Ukraine, which Guarantees would be provided by the various European Countries, with a coordination with the United States of America,” Trump wrote afterward on Truth Social. He also generally described the day’s talks as productive.
  • Territory: Trump had a map of Ukraine displayed on an easel during the meeting showing front lines and combat areas. Zelensky said later to reporters that he later had a long conversation with Trump in which he told him he did not fully agree with the percentage of Ukrainian territory the map showed as under Russian control, per the Times.
  • Doubts: “I am not convinced that President Putin also wants peace,” Macron told reporters after the meeting. “His ultimate goal is to gain as much territory as he can, to weaken Ukraine.” German Chancellor Friedrich Merz of Germany returned to a stalemated issue: “The next steps ahead are the more complicated ones,” he said. “I can’t imagine the next meeting will take place without a ceasefire.

It is said that the talks were stalled while Donny ran to the nearest phone to call his pal Vlad……what was that about?

All in all the meeting was a typical meeting with Donny….a bunch of lollygagging and little substance.

And once again nothing to help end this conflict…..does any involved really want it to end?

What Is It With Documents?

I recall after Donny left the WH the first time and all those official government documents they found at his luxury playground for the rich and disgusting there was somewhat of an uproar but not much came of it….then in his second time at the palace of corruption some of his underlings we caught discussing classified stuff over an unsecured phone line….and now more document stuff….

Recently Donny met with Vlad for the all important change in the balance of Eastern Europe…..it appears that some guests at the hotel found official documents in a public printer…..

Unreleased details about plans for the meeting in Alaska between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin could be learned on Friday morning by anyone who checked a printer in the business center of an Anchorage hotel. Eight pages were left behind, apparently produced by US government staff members and carrying State Department markings. Three people staying at Hotel Captain Cook, a four-star hotel about 20 minutes from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, where Trump and Putin met, said they found the document on a public printer about 9am. NPR reviewed photos of the pages taken by one of them. Information on the eight pages includes:

  • Page 1: The sequence of meetings for the day was listed, as well as the names of the rooms on the base where they were to take place. There was a reveal about the gift Trump planned to present Putin: “American Bald Eagle Desk Statue.”
  • Pages 2-5: The names and phone numbers of three American staff members and 13 US and Russian state leaders are listed, per NPR. Included are phonetic pronouncers for all the Russian men: “Mr. President POO-tihn.”
  • Pages 6-8: The last pages are all about the luncheon planned “in honor of his excellency Vladimir Putin,” setting out the seating chart and menu of green salad, filet mignon, halibut olympia, and crème brûlée.

The day went off schedule. The document sets aside an hour for a Trump-Putin press conference, starting at 3:30pm. Not only did they not take questions, but they broke their joint appearance off after about 12 minutes, per Forbes. And luncheon was not served, per Axios. The White House and the State Department did not respond to NPR’s requests for comment about the document.

It seems that the Trump Admin has a problem with idiots who control documents…..let me say more confidence has been chipped away from the whole affair of a Trump presidency.

I wonder what the next shoe on the document doll will fall to the floor.

Ukraine Comes To Donny

The disastrous meeting between Vlad and Donny was a bust….nothing was accomplished which is pretty much what well figured, and today enter from stage right will be Zelenskyy and NATO notables in tow (my guess is that it is more about continuing the war than looking for a possible solution…..

Volodymyr Zelensky will make his case in person on Monday to President Trump at the White House, and he won’t be alone. So far, the leaders of the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Finland, NATO, and the European Commission have pledged to attend the follow-up meeting to Trump’s summit with Vladimir Putin, reports CNN.

  • “The trip serves as an exchange of information with US President Donald Trump following his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska,” said the office of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
  • In the meantime, Kiev’s European allies will meet Sunday to discuss ways to secure Ukraine’s security as part of a potential peace agreement. That could involve stationing Western troops in the country: The Wall Street Journal reports that Trump told European leaders Putin has accepted the possibility.
  • After his meeting with Putin, Trump backed off his demand for an immediate ceasefire. Instead, he is now pushing for what he calls a more permanent peace agreement, a move aligned with Moscow’s wishes. Putin is demanding that Ukraine give up its eastern Donbas region, which Zelensky has long called a nonstarter, in exchange for a halt to fighting elsewhere.

This smells like yet another ambush to me….

But that aside is there a solution to the war raging in Ukraine?

There is but NO one will like the answers….

After the summit in Alaska between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin failed to produce a breakthrough in negotiations, a couple of potential outcomes top the list of likely resolutions to the fighting over Ukraine, the Wall Street Journal reports. Ukraine could:

  • Lose land but survive as a secure and sovereign but smaller nation.
  • Lose territory and its sovereignty, returning to life in Moscow’s sphere of influence.

The Journal breaks those possibilities down.

The 20% solution: President Volodymyr Zelensky has rejected concessions on territory, and European leaders repeated Saturday that Ukraine’s borders must not be changed through force, per the Guardian. But Zelensky has indicated to other leaders that he’d be willing to negotiate once a ceasefire had locked in the existing front lines. And the idea isn’t universally opposed among his people. Under this scenario, Ukraine would lose about 20% of its land and receive Western help ensuring the lasting security of the remaining 80%—an outcome similar to the one to the Korean War in 1953. Putin seems unlikely to be pleased by this resolution: He’d be shut out of his goal of controlling Ukraine for good, which he has not abandoned. “The Russian viewpoint at the moment is that this war isn’t sustainable, but Ukraine is less sustainable, and by the time economic problems would force an end to the war, Ukraine will have lost,” said Janis Kluge, a Russian economy expert at a Berlin think tank.

Russian control: What worries Ukraine most is the realization that a smaller Ukraine might not be able to resist a third Russian invasion and could end up a Russian protectorate. Putin’s demands from the beginning have gone well beyond land and include shrinking Ukraine’s military, and arsenal, as well as changing its leadership, constitution and government policies on language, history, and national identity. That complete capitulation can only be achieved by outlasting Ukraine in battle. “I don’t see the Ukrainian army collapsing,” said Michael Kofman, a military expert at a Washington-based think tank. “But on a long enough timeline, we could get to a point where, if Ukraine fails to address its problems of force generation and force management, it might not be defeated on the battlefield, but it will grow increasingly exhausted.”

I said few will like this solution/s but how long must the war go on and how many Ukrainians must die?

What to do, what to do?

Climate Summit–2023

As I type this post there is a conference going on and the world is in attendance…..found it interesting that it would be held in a country that sole purpose in existence is to pump oil.

I have been skeptical of these conferences ever since they have been called and that was back in the 1970s (yes I am old I remember them)….and this newest ‘Summit’ is No different….

For the past two weeks, the world’s best and brightest have been meeting in Dubai — under a glittering, color-changing dome built to resemble Islamic geometric art — as the petrostate hosts the United Nations’ latest climate change conference.

And experts are calling bull. In interviews with The Guardian, climate scientists and advocates said the “solutions” offered at the COP28 conference, which include such goofiness as a panel on “responsible yachting,” are “distractions” at best and “frightening” at worst.

Troublingly, the conference is presided over by Dubai’s Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, who also runs the United Arab Emirates’ national oil company in what seems very much like a massive conflict of interest.

Al Jaber sparked controversy last week when he publicly expressed pessimism about a gradual fossil fuel phase-out and said there was “no science” behind it, which is categorically false given that the vast majority of scientists — not to mention the UN’s secretary-general — say that eliminating fossil fuel pollution is absolutely the biggest and most important way to turn back the tide on the worst of what climate change has in store.

https://futurism.com/dubai-climate-conference-warning

I expecting nothing better than crap….there is never anything coming out of these waste of time other than false promises and unfilled deadlines.

As long as we are writing about the environment…how about the Green New Deal that has been offered up by Dems?

You would be right if you think that I have had something to say about this ‘Deal’…..most are sitting around either scratching their ass or their head and could possibly do both since both are in the same location.

How About A “Green New Deal”?

Some think that the real ‘opiate of the masses’ is the green new deal….because it let’s too many off the hook for the problem they are feeding…..

What kinds of measures are you taking, personally, to prevent global warming? Have you bought a reusable shopping bag to reduce your reliance on disposable plastic ones? Do you carry a thermos so you don’t end up buying drinks in plastic bottles? Did you buy an electric car?

Let me make one thing clear: These good deeds are meaningless. They can even cause more harm than good.

Simply thinking that such actions are effective countermeasures can prevent us from taking part in the larger actions that are actually necessary to combat climate change. They function like Catholic indulgences, allowing us to escape the pangs of our conscience via consumerism and to look away from the danger around us, allowing the forces of capital to swaddle our concerns in environmental impact statements and tuck them away beneath the form of deception known as greenwashing.

Biden-Putin Gab Fest

Yesterday the leaders of Russia and the US had a couple of talks….and they went something like this…..

President Biden spoke to the media after meeting Vladimir Putin in Geneva Wednesday—and he said he had assured the Russian leader that his agenda “is not against Russia or anybody else. It’s for the American people.” Putin, who held the first press conference, said Biden was “very different from Trump.” Highlights from Biden’s conference:

  • “Human rights will always be on the table.” Biden said he had raised human rights issues including Alexei Navalny and the cases of Trevor Reed and Paul Whelan, two former Marines now in Russian prisons, the Guardian reports. “Human rights will always be on the table,” Biden said.
  • Action on cyberattacks. Biden said he agreed with Putin to have more discussions on cyberattacks, including ransomware attacks, the AP reports. He said 16 kinds of critical infrastructure, including energy and water systems, should be considered off-limits to cyberattacks “period.” “I pointed out, if they violate basic norms, we will respond,” Biden said.
  • “I did what I came to do.” Biden described the overall tone of the summit as “positive” and said much was achieved, the Guardian reports. “I did what I came to do,” he said.
  • “Devastating” consequences if Navalny dies. Biden told reporters that Russia is “desperately trying to maintain its standing” as a major world power and losing this status would be among the consequences Moscow could face it if continues to interfere in elections—or if Navalny dies in prison. “I made it clear to him the consequences would be devastating,” Biden said.
  • “There were no threats.” Biden said no “threats” were made during the summit, “just simple assertions made.” He said the coming months will be a test of whether progress can be made. “It was … somewhat colloquial, and we talked about basic, basic fundamental things,” he said, per CNN. “I think the last thing he wants now is a cold war,” he said of Putin.
  • Capitol comparison “ridiculous.” Biden said Putin’s comparison of Russia’s jailing—or worse—of political opponents to charges against Capitol rioters was “ridiculous.”
  • “This isn’t about trust.” ABC reports that when Biden was asked if he thought he could now trust Putin, he said the summit wasn’t about trust. “This is about self-interest and verification of self-interest,” he said. Biden put his sunglasses on and started walking away from the podium after a reporter asked he if had reconsidered his 2011 remarks that Putin has no soul, the Guardian reports.
  • One last exchange. Biden had a testy exchange with reporters after walking away from the podium, the BBC notes. He told a reporter that his remarks did not mean that he was confident Putin would change his behavior. “If you don’t understand that, you’re in the wrong business,” he said when asked by CNN’s Kaitlin Collins how he could consider the summit a success when Putin came out of it still denying responsibility for cyberattacks and other actions.
  • An apology. The AP reports that Biden tried to make peace with reporters before boarding Air Force One. “I shouldn’t have been such a wise guy with the last answer I gave,” he said, expressing regret for being “short” with Collins.

And Putin rattled on…..this is the short version of his ramblings…..

Vladimir Putin gave the first press conference following his talks with President Biden, and it stretched nearly an hour. Highlights:

  • He was asked about which topics were discussed in detail, and he said Ukraine was not one of them.
  • The Guardian reports Putin said he and Biden agreed their ambassadors—the Russian ambassador to the US, Anatoly Antonov, and the US ambassador to Russia, John Sullivan—will resume their posts and diplomatic duties. The two have for months been at home in their respective countries over friction.
  • CNN asked if the tone of the meeting was hostile or friendly, and whether Russia committed to stopping cyberattacks on US. Per CNN’s translation, Putin said, “I don’t think there was any kind of hostility … I think many of our positions are divergent but … I think it was very constructive.”
  • On the cybersecurity front, he said both sides agreed to begin negotiations on the issue. The BBC reports Putin said Russia has “provided exhaustive information” to the US regarding alleged cyber attacks and has received no response.

When asked about Alexei Navalny, Putin declined to speak his name, but said, “This person knew that he violated the law that exists in Russia and he is a repeated offender. He knew full well that he was wanted but nevertheless he came back to Russia and he deliberately wanted to be arrested. He did what he wanted to do.”

  • Putin characterized the talks as “efficient, substantive, specific, and aimed at achieving results.”
  • Putin issued what the BBC terms “a rare compliment,” calling Biden an “experienced statesman” and saying that they had detailed discussions for two hours, which he would not be able to do with most politicians. “He is very different from President Trump,” Putin said.
  • He said he was offered no invitation to the White House and extended no invite to Biden, and that the “right conditions” would be needed to get to that stage.

My biggest problem was with Biden’s piece of fecal matter on human rights…..those rights are violated by our so-called allies and we praise their democracy….this is my biggest problem with Biden and his gang of slugs.

The only thing this chin wag did was provide a photo op for the two leaders…..chest thumping at its best.
