Is It Terrorism?

The horrible weekend in Colorado when this weird guy went to a Planned Parenthood Center and took hostages and killed many……3 to be exact and 9 in hospital……the bad guy was taken into custody and will face justice for his actions.

Of course the conversation is all about being political correct…..the Right is blaming the media and liberals and the Left is blaming whoever is closest…..bu the conversation that most interest me (saying “interest” is a sarcastic statement on my part)……the debate on whether to call it terrorism or not….

The media has turned this subject into several days of debate among different pundits….they are getting as much mileage out of this situation as possible…..

This is a no brainer…..since this was a crime then the FBI “official” definition should apply…….

“Domestic terrorism” means activities with the following three characteristics:

  • Involve acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or state law;
  • Appear intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination. or kidnapping; and
  • Occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S.

People like this person are no different than those of ISIS…..attempting to force their twisted beliefs on everyone…..

Then there is the only defining quality of terrorism may be the fact that it invites argument, since the label “terrorism” or “terrorist” arises when there is disagreement over whether an act of violence is justified (and those who justify it label themselves “revolutionaries” or “freedom fighters,” etc.). So, in one sense, it may be fair to say that terrorism is exactly violence (or the threat of violence) in context where there will be disagreement over the use of that violence.

Michael McCaul, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, does not think the deadly attack Friday at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood qualifies as terrorism: “I don’t think it would fall under quite the definition of domestic terrorism, although I’ll leave that to the Justice Department to make that determination.”

Not all Repubs agree om this either……even Huckabee sees it as “domestic terrorism”…….

What he did is domestic terrorism, and what he did is absolutely abominable, especially to us in the pro-life movement, because there’s nothing about any of us that would condone or in any way look the other way on something like this.

But just because an act is violent doesn’t mean it qualifies as domestic terrorism, said former ATF Special Agent John Risenhoover. He has investigated domestic terrorism cases before. During his more than two decades with the agency, Risenhoover worked on the Oklahoma City bombing, which remains the deadliest act of domestic terrorism in U.S. history.

“One of the things that’s really tough when you talk about domestic terrorism is you have to prove intent and motivation,” Risenhoover said. “There has to be a goal. Usually political, usually to influence government.”

And this near-sighted fool does not see a goal in this act?  Is he any kin to Homer Simpson?

Of course it is domestic terrorism and if you accept the definition presented by the FBI then there is NO more debate…..it was an act of domestic terrorism!  PERIOD!

Any other debate would be disingenuous……but then there is an election coming.

  1. I agree with your view. And “no more baby parts” sure sounds like motive to me. His ex wife revealed he had previously poured glue into the door locks of another Planned Parenthood years before, so he has a history too.

    1. I am beginning to doubt the mental capabilities of the ATF if that fool cannot see a goal from this idiot’s actions…..thanx for the comment I appreciate the exchanges….chuq

  2. I would say “yes, it is”, but, then, the most critical factor, for me, is to decide if I am terrified, or if I should/would be if I were involved…. In those cases, the answer must be “no” because the actual defining act is whether or not it terrifies anyone….

Most people are easily terrified… If they carried a weapon of some kind, which they knew how to use (doesn’t have to be a gun), perhaps they wouldn’t be so terrified when things like that occur…

The guy in the picture hasn’t been sane for decades; look at those eyes. Pinpoint in the bright lights of the cop shop…. and, spinning in opposite directions, obviously…. I’m not afraid of anyone that crazy; ultimately they are predictable, as long as somebody is watching….

Any act of terrorism in today’s world I view in light of Hermann Goerring’s words on how to manipulate the people of any country. All these “acts of terror” are scripted incidents, and even when not designed as a black op, will be used by politicians to pursue their own goals, which includes keeping the public “terrified”.

Life involves danger; get over it. Accept it, prepare for it, and be done with fearing it. You’ll find you don’t terrify quite so easily…

    1. The key is to be vigilant….if you are that then fear is not a problem….the only fear I have is that one day not even Viagra will work…..LOL

  3. Mass shootings are so common in America anymore, it’s hard to keep abreast of them all. But it does seem pretty clear this one fits the “official” FBI definition of domestic terror. But we all know what the working definition of “terror” is. It’s any act of violence (even at the theoretical/proposal stage) , no matter how big or small, that’s perpetrated by a Muslim. Anything that doesn’t involve a Muslim is next to impossible to get declared “terrorism” anymore, no matter how clearly it fits the definition. I wonder if even Timothy McVeigh’s actions would earn the label “terrorism” today. Probably, but there would be a lot of nervous gulping before when the person on the news would declare it as such.

It’s funny how even simple, clear cut, definitions of words get warped in an entire society’s mind to fit a narrative. Even right-thinking people who don’t particularly buy into the narrative tend to adopt this re-definition as the default position in their mind. This is the kind of shit Orwell wrote about in the Appendix to 1984….The Principles of Newspeak.

Language is the “ultimate weapon”. If people who haven’t even drank the Kool-Aid can look terrorism square in the face and not instantly recognize it, then Mission Accomplished.
