If you are watching the news then you have seen the protests that have turned violent in France….Police arrested at least 1,800 people across France after violent groups clashed with officers and looted shops during nationwide demonstrations that drew hundreds of thousands of people who denounced rising living costs and poor conditions in schools, per the AP.
Does any of that sound like the conditions here in this country?

President Trump continued his midterm campaign swing Monday in Kansas, where he used stark language to warn what would happen if Republicans lose control of Congress. “If you want to see what’s at stake in this election, just look at what’s happening in France,” he said, referring to widespread protests and looting fueled by anger over public services and the rising cost of living, reports Reuters. Trump said the “once-great nation” is being “conquered, looted, and burned to the ground by migrants, jihadists and communists,” adding, “When you see burning steeples and raging fires in France, just remember that is what the radical Democrats want to do in America.”
Trump visited Kansas to support GOP Sen. Roger Marshall, who is in an unexpectedly tight race for reelection with Democrat Adam Hamilton, a Methodist pastor, per the Washington Post. In his speech and in comments to reporters beforehand, Trump emphasized his administration’s anti-immigration policies by seizing on the unrest in France. “The whole world was coming in, and as you know, Paris is going to be a Muslim city very soon,” he said on the White House lawn, per the Guardian. “We closed our borders. He didn’t,” he added of French President Emmanuel Macron. Other top Republicans were hitting the same theme, with VP JD Vance calling the French violence a failure of “Western liberals.”

Emmanuel Macron says he has a message for “many people, including foreign leaders”: Stop using France’s troubles as campaign material. During a visit to Qatar, the French president blasted what he called “stupid” comments and the “manipulation of information” about last weekend’s riots, saying some foreign leaders were exploiting the unrest for political gain by claiming the social unrest is being caused by Muslim migrants. Pressed on whether that included President Trump, Macron answered, “Among others,” reports the Guardian.
Trump has tied the violence to “migrants, jihadists and communists” as he stumps ahead of US midterms; Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu has spoken of an “invasion of extremist Islam.” Macron told reporters that some leaders “in the middle of election campaigns, whether here in the region or on the other side of the Atlantic” were “naively spreading narratives that certain circles are clearly trying to promote.” The BBC calls that an “apparent swipe” against Trump and Netanyahu; Israel’s parliamentary elections are next Tuesday. Macron added that there have been “AI-generated images depicting scenes that never actually happened in France. We’ve had people claiming that we were invaded by hordes of migrants and Islamists, which is completely false.”

Unfortunately MAGA eats this rhetoric up and spreads it through their filtered hard-leaning right bubbles on social media. They actually believe the baseless accusations and illogical comparisons. I’m not supporting what’s happening in France, but I can understand why the people are protesting. Something that could happen here, but it will be with American’s, not the droves and caravans of illegal aliens the GOP claims have entered into the country illegally. Is it really that hard to open your eyes and question your current reality? Are they so afraid to question their bias that they just bury their heads in the sand? It would appear so.
Those are great questions but sadly no one wants to answer them…..will Americans find the guts to protest to trey and make things better? chuq
It has happened before in our past where people questioned their reality enough to start asking questions. I’m hopeful that as things continue to decline, people will finally start trying to find causes that go beyond “Friggin MAGA” or “Friggin Biden”…. We need education reform.
We definitely need the reform….but I do not think that electing a few ‘good’ legislators will ever make a difference….the people can but most will cringe at what it may take. chuq
So in essence, he’s telling his supporters that they should react like the French people if the elections don’t go “his way.” Yeah sure. Riot and burn! That will solve all the problems. But most of all … it will satisfy Trump’s desperate need for mayhem and violence (think: January 6th) in support of HIM.

The situation in France had nothing to do with left wing radicals or communists or jihadists. It was students protesting the abysmal conditions of the schools they’re attending and the failure of the government to actually do anything to fix it after multiple governments promised explicitly to improve conditions, and then did nothing. It’s blossomed from there with other groups taking to the streets in support of the students and to protest their own grievances. Unfortunately as so often happens with protests like these they’ve been taken over by a certain element that derives great pleasure from sheer violence and opportunists who see this as a way to engage in wide spread looting.
Similar things are going on in Spain. In Barcelona an 87 year old woman was thrown out of the apartment she’d lived in for almost her whole life so the landlord could drastically increase the rent, with the assistance of the police. The poor woman died a few days later. That incident has sparked wide spread protests about the government failing to deal with utterly horrendous increases in the costs of homes and apartments, increases due almost entirely to price gouging on the part of the building owners.
When will the American people stand up and yell ENOUGH!? There is more than enough reasons for massive protests not just on weekends and holidays…..chuq
Nobody does ‘demonstrations’ better than the French. You only have to look back to 1789 to realise that they can change things. And the things they changed are the same things happening in the west today.
