2016: Enter GOP’s Mr. Personality

I heard some random GOP pundit say that the large number of candidates in 2016 shows the strength of the party…….now that is putting lipstick on a pig!

Today is the day!  It is official!  Mr. Personality enters the race for the GOP nomination……Chris Christie, the bully of the clown car.

And then there were 14 … on the GOP side only, a presidential field that NJ.com reports was last this big when Abraham Lincoln won in 1860. Chris Christie today threw his hat into the ring by way of an announcement made at Livingston High School, his alma mater and the town where “everything started … for me.” Politico reported that Christie’s announcement would be made telepromter-free, as befitting his “Telling it like it is” campaign slogan. He kicked things off with stories of his roots—hard work, not much money—and what his mother told him: “God’s given you so many gifts. If you just work hard enough, you can be anything.” Ten standout lines from there:

  1. “Both parties have failed our country.”
  2. “I wake up every morning knowing I have the opportunity to do something great. That’s why this job is a great job, and why president of the United States is an even greater job.”
  3. “America is tired of weakness in the Oval Office … and that is why today I’m proud to announce my candidacy.”
  4. “The lying and stealing has already happened. The horse is out of the barn. We’ve got to get it back in and you can only do it by force.”
  5. “After seven years I heard the president say the other day that the world respects” America more “because of his leadership. This is confirmation that Obama lives in his own world, not ours.”
  6. “We better not turn [this world] over to his second mate Hillary Clinton.”
  7. “I am not running for president of the United States as a surrogate for being prom king of America. I mean what I say and I say what I mean and that’s what America needs right now.”
  8. “And unlike some people who will offer themselves for the presidency, you’re not going to have to wonder if I can do it or not.”
  9. He promised a campaign “without focus-group-tested answers. A campaign when I’m asked a question I’m going to give an answer to the question that’s asked, not the answer my political consultants told me to give backstage.”
  10. “We are going to tell it like it is today … the truth will set us free, everybody.”

In case you do not know much about Christie’s record…..here is just a bit of it…….

Now we wait for another governor with legal troubles…..Scott Walker.  I am sure others will jump into the game but they will be nothing more than footnotes.

The clown car is getting to full capacity……maybe they should upgrade to a bus……….now let the fun begin!

Why Hate The United Nations (UN)?

Since I can remember conservs have hated the United Nations…….and they will go on and on about this failure or that……got me to thinking why do so many absolutely hate the UN?

I guess most of it is a monetary thing…….Best Answer:  Most Americans hate it, because we pay the majority of its bills, provide the bulk of its military power and yet are almost universally hated by the very people we try to help…….

That is a typical conserv response…….then there is another view………It’s because the UN is considered to be the epitome of idealistic ideology in that it wishes to create a world order by which nation states must be governed. Of course, since we live in a realistic or real politik world in which nations always strife to be stronger an more powerful than their neighbors, this is not possible.

In the current political order, there is no higher authority than the nation-state, making the UN obsolete.  The UN cannot impose its beliefs or statutes on its members – it can only put a certain degree of pressure on those countries it believes are in the wrong and even then those countries have the option of leaving the UN.  As long as the nation-state survives in its current form (and there is no reason which indicates it will be any different in the foreseeable future) the UN will always be met with a degree of disdain.
You should check up on political theories involving Nationalism, Realism, Mercantalism, Idealism and the Treaty of Westphalia if you want to get the big picture.

There are many opinions on the hate……..but the one that I like is those that say the the organization gets very little of consequence is accomplished………….and there is a good reason for that……the Security Council.

Most countries joined the UN for the same reason……..the hope that their region will somehow be a safe and secure place.  That has not worked out the way that most envisioned in the early days.  And with good reason.

The UN’s role in international collective security is defined by the UN Charter, which authorizes the Security Council to investigate any situation threatening international peace; recommend procedures for peaceful resolution of a dispute; call upon other member nations to completely or partially interrupt economic relations as well as sea, air, postal, and radio communications, or to sever diplomatic relations; and enforce its decisions militarily, or by any means necessary.

A great sounding role, right?  The problem is that the Security Council has 15 members……5 permanent and 10 non-permanent members…..the permanent members are US, Russia, China, UK and France, the world powers, if you will………and any action that the UN wants to do must go through the Security Council and if any ONE permanent member votes NO then the resolution is DEAD.  And there is your problem!

One nation can crap all over a worthwhile attempt to make the world a better place.  If you must hate the UN then hate the five nations that can with a single vote cause a world of problems for the planet.

All that could change and change for the better…….eliminate the power of a single nation on the Security Council.  It is that simple!

Former Bush officials teaching course on Iraq War ‘decision-making’ | TheHill

When I saw the title of this piece my first thought was….REALLY?  Could colleges really be that hard up for teachers that they must turn to these dicks?

My have times have changed!  When I was at university we were taught the pursuit of truth was the only calling……

Now we have a group teaching our young about the lies that was the 2003 invasion of Iraq……maybe it will illustrate how NOT to start a war…..we can only hope that students will see through their blatant attempts to re-write history and the lies they told to get Americans killed.

I wish I was younger…..I would be their worst nightmare in class…….pathetic what they are offering as TRUTH!

Why Do Journalists Take Delusional Presidential Candidates So Seriously? | The Nation

Holy crap!  Finally someone is asking the question that I have been asking for a decade.

I mean….really?  Carson, Pakai, Jindal, Trump and the list goes on……they have zero chance of the nomination…..but the MSM chases them for interviews…..why?

I guess it is easier than having to actually work for a story……..and these journalists win awards…..how is that for humor?

The Dangers of Religious Primitivism | Consortiumnews

Since the war in the Middle East I have noticed that there are camps, religious camps, the a population breaks down into……one cannot say anything remotely positive about Islam without a barrage of hate filled insults thrown at them……some coming from under most circumstances normally sane individuals…….

I think this “choosing sides” will be disastrous in the long run……let’s call it what it is……religious primitivism…….
