Teens are fleeing religion like never before

It is Sunday another day of rest for Chuq……..

Under normal circumstances I do not post much on religion….to me it is about my relationship with whichever God I pray to and is NOT anyone else business….I wish more felt that way…..I do not mind the share of beliefs but most times no one cares……..

It is approaching election time and as usual the religious douches will be out in force trying to connect every issue to some passage in some book……

Our country is now being attacked by those that want it to be a sectarian society instead of a free society….but there is a dim future that is becoming more clear….a light at the end of the tunnel, if you will…….

Can this country survive the influx of religion into our society?  Yes we can and the future is in the hands of teenagers today…….they will move this country forward………. for the generations before them have done little to do so……..these teenagers are more concerned with society and not what prayers you have in your litany……

Any thoughts on this study?

Shall we pray?

Twin Brothers, Different Fathers

I am always looking for something interesting or just plain weird to post on weekends…..my time to kick back and give the overworked mind a break……I found a good one people!

Back when I was working stiff I was employed by the state housing authority…..my best friend was a guy named Frank….we ran together and we told everybody that we were twin brothers of different mothers…….we got some interesting looks since I am white and Frank is black……but few challenged what we told them.

I bet you are wondering just what the Hell I am going on about….Am I right?

To answer your question…….

In just the third such court case in the country, a New Jersey judge has ruled a man is father to one twin while another man is father to the other. The children’s mother named a man, identified as “AS,” as the father of her twin girls, born in January 2013, when she applied for public assistance in Passaic County, the Star-Ledger reports. When she acknowledged that she’d had sex with another man within a week of her encounter with AS, a DNA test was conducted. It revealed what the New York Times calls “a tangled web of love and biology.” AS had fertilized one egg with 99.9% certainty; the other was fertilized by the other man during the same menstrual cycle. Judge Sohail Mohammed ruled AS must pay child support for only the child he fathered, totaling $28 a week.

Mohammed noted he found just two court cases related to the phenomenon, known as superfecundation, NBC New York reports. But it’s not quite that rare, per the New Jersey Law Journal. It references a 1997 article by identity testing expert Karl-Hans Wurzinger, who testified in this case, that put the number of reported paternity cases involving superfecundation at one in every 13,000. Indeed, the judge also said such instances are on the rise, citing factors like promiscuity, medically stimulated ovulation, and reproductive technologies (consider, for instance, a gay couple who both provide sperm and end up with twins). The ruling is “novel in that I don’t think this issue was on anyone’s radar to even question a client about,” says a family law expert with the New Jersey State Bar Association.

Will make awkward family reunion……..can you smell a lawsuit?

FIFA: The Conspiracy

From the fleeting thoughts of Chuq

Since the mid 90’s conspiracy theories have been spread around like peanut butter in grade school……today we have them on just about anything you can think of……coming from Far Right to Far Left…….and they all somehow make the 6 o’clock news…..

After these couple of days of non-stop reporting on the FIFA scandal……could there be a conspiracy going on behind the scenes?

I know Americans are not too keen on football (soccer to them) but this story is too big even for those small minds to ignore.

It appears the the Department of Justice, after an exhausted investigation, has issued indictments against several within the FIFA organization……..from simple bribery to money laundering to coercion to corruption….a total of 13 people and/or institutions……..

I know….I know…..where’s the conspiracy?

There is to be a vote and NO I am not talking about the vote for the president of FIFA……there is another vote that the world may not be aware of coming up…….that is the vote to sanction Israel……HUH?

a dramatic shift in focus for the FIFA conference, and the planned vote on suspending Israel for the mistreatment of Palestinian footballers seems almost certain to be delayed.

The indictments have been issued by the US…….is this the US doing what it always does…….protect Israel?

I question the timing of the indictments.  Were they issued to do as much damage as possible to stop the vote against Israel?

When the issue came up Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu was crowing about this, and bragged of telling FIFA president Sepp Blatter that a vote of the suspension of Israel would mean the destruction of FIFA outright.

A bit odd if you ask me……..is it possible that the timing was not necessarily about justice but rather to protect Israel from a possible suspension from football?

I am not a big conspiracist….but I also do not believe in coincidences……

Just a final thought on a Friday afternoon……

P.S.  CRAP!  I had a perfectly good conspiracy theory going and then the news hit……..

The Palestine Football Association (PFA) on Friday dropped its motion to have FIFA suspend Israel from international football, with the Jewish state saying the decision helped it avoid “an absurd situation”.

Better luck next time, Chuq…..this is why I do not like conspiracy theories…..they can bite you in the ass…..

What kind of unholy deal was made for this to happen?

Enjoy your weekend and a good night…….

Circassian Genocide: 150 years later

Yep another of Chuq’s famous history lessons……

Everyone has heard about the Holocaust where the Nazis tried to kill off the Jewish population, a genocide….there have been others throughout modern history as well….like the Armenian genocide committed by the Ottomans in the early 1900’s…

But have you ever heard of the Circassians?

Now you have…….learn something before the weekend so that your week has not been a total bust!

Terrorism: Talk Of The Town

It is the 21st century and terrorism has replaced the fear of nuclear devastation of the Cold War as the talk of the town…..no longer are we worried about some unknown Russian with his finger on the red button of a nuke warhead……now it is some unknown extremist with his finger on a red button of a suicide vest…….

Since the US has taken it upon itself to engage ISIS there has been lots of chatter on what terrorism is and who decides to use it…..most of it is not professional but rather to incite an emotional response…..and to be used as a propaganda tool to instill fear and in doing so makes the population open to all sorts of tactics  that they would not approve of under normal thinking.

Since 9/11 we Americans have been told about terror and its use against a population……most of it was an orchestrated program to insight fear by the people…..after those many years since 9/11 we Americans believe we have a good grasp on what terrorism is all about…..but do we?

What is terrorism?

1.–the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, especially for political purposes.
2.–the state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization.
Those are the clinical definitions of terrorism…..but then we have the definition that DHS will use…….Acts of violence committed by groups that view themselves as victimized by some notable historical wrong. Although these groups have no formal connection with governments, they usually have the financial and moral backing of sympathetic governments. Typically, they stage unexpected attacks on civilian targets, including embassies and airliners, with the aim of sowing fear and confusion.
There is a definition by DoD………The United States Department of Defense defines terrorism as “the calculated use of unlawful violence or threat of unlawful violence to inculcate fear; intended to coerce or to intimidate governments or societies in the pursuit of goals that are generally political, religious, or ideological.” Within this definition, there are three key elements—violence, fear, and intimidation—and each element produces terror in its victims. The FBI uses this definition: “Terrorism is the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.” The U.S. Department of State defines terrorism to be “premeditated politically-motivated violence perpetrated against non-combatant targets by sub-national groups or clandestine agents, usually intended to influence an audience”.
Terrorism Has No Religion
Now let’s ask….is the term “terrorism:” a relative new term?

1795, in specific sense of “government intimidation during the Reign of Terror in France” (March 1793-July 1794), from French terrorisme, from Latin terror………...

If the basis of a popular government in peacetime is virtue, its basis in a time of revolution is virtue and terror virtue, without which terror would be barbaric; and terror, without which virtue would be impotent. [Robespierre, speech in French National Convention, 1794]

General sense of “systematic use of terror as a policy” is first recorded in English 1798. At one time, a word for a certain kind of mass-destruction terrorism was dynamitism (1883); and during World War I frightfulness was used in Britain for “deliberate policy of terrorizing enemy non-combatants.”

While the use of terror as a weapon goes back to the beginning of written history….the term terrorism is only a couple hundred years old.  In the early days atrocities were committed against civilians as a psychological form of warfare……and was employed by many…..Romans, Turks, Crusaders, The Khans, Huns…….on and on….NO civilization is above the use of terror against civilians.  Even the US is not above the use of this tactic.
Right about now….I can hear eyes rolling and people sitting on their couch insulting me in several languages.  So let my clarify……the US government has used terror as a weapon…..think the massacre of the buffalo in the 19th century……or the “shock and awe” of the Iraq War….and today, the use of drones and the threat of an attack…….. used to influence a population.  Have I redeemed myself? (Doubtful)
Terror is not an isolated tactic…….According to International terrorism & Security Research………….Terrorism is a criminal act that influences an audience beyond the immediate victim. The strategy of terrorists is to commit acts of violence that draws the attention of the local populace, the government, and the world to their cause. The terrorists plan their attack to obtain the greatest publicity, choosing targets that symbolize what they oppose. The effectiveness of the terrorist act lies not in the act itself, but in the public’s or government’s reaction to the act.
Keep in mind terrorism is a tactic not an enemy……it is difficult to wage war on a tactic and damn near impossible to win said war.  The tactics being employed today by Western countries will not win the war…….it is a waste of resources but as they say…..”something must be done”.
Slogans are good and wishful thinking is better….but sadly it will not accomplish an end to the violence……..it does however keep the Terror-Industrial Complex in rent money……..and that should keep this war going for several generations.

2016: A Crowded Clown Car

You guys know that I do enjoy giving my readers a little history with my posts……since few people can remember much of our political history I figured…….why not rattle your memories?

The big laughing point in the media these days is the amount of possible candidates for the GOP in the next election for president…….this year there could be as many as 15-20 GOP candidates……and the media is freaking out at the amount of people running……they spend lots of time making fun of the people running and in some cases it is well deserved……but the sheer amount of candidates is not “never happened before” thing (should I give you time to push the Google button and dash around the web looking for the answer?)

NOPE!  I will just hit with the history lesson straight away……

The year was 1972……….convention protests, anti-war and it was not the GOP but rather the Democrats that had a crowded clown car…….in that primary season there were 15 total Democrat candidates in search of the nomination……15 you say?  Yep!

And the players were……….

In case you were not aware of it……George McGovern ultimately became the Democratic nominee……he ran against Richard Nixon and got his ass handed to him horribly.

During these days the Watergate break-in happened and of course a book and movie deal…….and the first time a 18 year old could vote……..

There you have it……your history lesson for the day……and all the news you cannot use……..you are welcome.

It’s All About Free Trade

The newest trade agreement, the secret one, the one no one is allowed to talk about, is making its way around Congress…..as usual they use the dog whistle word to describe it….Free Trade.

The only problem I have with it is that it sounds a lot like the lies told by Clinton about NAFTA…….and now we are doing it again…….who will suffer the most this time?

I got this cartoon on my Twitter machine and it explains what the term “Free Trade” really means.

Addicting Info – Now Bernie Sanders Is Hitler: Conservatives Claim Fight Against Inequality Leads To ‘Concentration Camps’

Yep, I will be working to help Bernie get his message out there…..I was expecting the insults and name calling from the Right……but I never thought he would be compared to HITLER of all people.

Just when you least expect it…..BAM!…..Morons speak!

This is not a big news story ……but it is so damn absurd that you gotta read this….have you ever heard such utter lunacy in your entire life?

Addicting Info – Now Bernie Sanders Is Hitler: Conservatives Claim Fight Against Inequality Leads To ‘Concentration Camps’.

ISIS Coalition SITREP #83

Welcome to the briefing…..it has been awhile since the last one that is because there has been very little news that is worthy of comment….since the last report al-Baghdadi has been seriously wounded, number 2 man in Iraq has been reported killed, the ISIS minister of finance in Syria has been killed and wife taken prisoner with lots of data captured as well.  Al-Anbar province is being overrun…………city of Ramadi has been taken by ISIS fighters…..and the airstrikes continue.

Item 1–Advancing near the ancient city of Palmyra, ISIS is said to have captured the al-Hail and Arak gas fields, two very important parts of fueling Syria’s electricity grid.

Item 2–US airstrikes are working as the air cover for Shi’ite militias……….

Item 3–the defeat in Ramadi of Iraq troops looked a lot like the early days of the fighting with ISIS……massive retreating leaving equipment and arms behind…..with the fall of Ramadi ISIS is just 50 miles from Baghdad……that should worry everybody in DC.

Item 4–ISIS has finally captured the ancient city of Palmyra and with that victory that control a wide swath of land in Syria……

Capturing the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur in Arabic) and valuable nearby gas fields was just part of the gains of ISIS across Syria, which have now reached the point that the “caliphate” includes more than half of Syria’s territory.

Indeed, ISIS seems to be making gains across both Syria and Iraq, taking the major Iraqi city of Ramadi yesterday, and then seizing the al-Waleed border crossing, the last crossing between Iraq and Syria that they didn’t already hold.

Item 5–……..the story around the fall of the Anbar Province capital of Ramadi in recent days has been predictions of Iraq retaking the city, the reality is ISIS is continuing its eastward advance.

Early in the day, Iraqi forces reported they were exchanging mortar fire with ISIS forces east of the city, and had held them off, but by evening police commanders confirmed they’d been overrun entirely by ISIS.

Keep in mind that Baghdad is less than 60 miles from Ramadi…..is the capital next on the list?

Item 6–It appears that our “ally” Turkey may have helped ISIS inn the beginning…….

Witness testimony obtained by Reuters has once again shown that the Turkish government was dishonest about their involvement in the rise of Islamist rebels in northern Syria.

The testimony of officials revealed that Turkey’s MIT state spy agency repeatedly accompanied cargoes of weaponry across the border into Islamist rebel-controlled territory in January of 2014, and threatened border police who objected.

The weapons shipments were distributed among various rebel factions, and are believed to have played a significant role in ISIS gains in that area of Syria, which they control to this day.

Now I will wait to see if the media touches this or if it is down played…..my guess is the later.

Item 7–Iran has sent in troops to Iraq to assist in the refinery fight that is raging at this time.  This is gonna be a big deal.  The US has got to decide one way or the other.  Or should it be up to Iraq to decide who fights the good fight?

Item 8–Since the beginning of the conflict the Sunni tribes had to depend on the Shia government in Baghdad for supplies and arms……that is about to change…….

Under US law, foreign military aid is supposed to be provided directly to foreign governments. Efforts to arm up various factions in Iraq, including the Peshmerga and Sunni tribal militias, have thus long had to go through a central Iraqi government with limited interest in seeing those groups get too powerful.

Today, the Pentagon announced it has plans for direct provision of weapons to Sunni tribal factions inside Anbar Province, aiming to bolster them amid recent ISIS gains.

This one simple action could do more good than a month of training……

This concludes the briefing……next one will be as needed…….

Thanx for your time and attention…….

The World’s Game

I do not normally post much on sports…..but this story is too big too ignore……

Football, soccer to Americans, is the most popular sport in the world…..and unless you are asleep you have noticed that this is a major international story……..all the corruption and pay to play stuff…….but how many know what to look for or what they are talking about?

In case you would like to be better informed then here is your source….

(Newser) – It’s FIFA corruption scandal, day two. Here’s a guide to what you should know, watch, and read:

  • Vladimir Putin had strong words for the US regarding yesterday’s FIFA arrests, which he framed as “yet another blatant attempt [by the United States] to extend its jurisdiction to other states.” Among his comments, per the Guardian: “I suppose that someone broke some rules, I don’t know. But definitely, it’s got nothing to do with the USA. Those officials are not US citizens.”
  • The AP notes that in fact, of the 14 people charged (nine current and former FIFA officials, four sports marketing execs and an accused intermediary), at least two hold American citizenship.
  • Jon Stewart last night translated the scandal for a US audience in a segment flavored like this: “FIFA is so bad, they got arrested by the Swiss, a country whose official policy on Nazi gold was, and I quote, ‘we’ll allow it.'” Watch.
  • As for FIFA leader Sepp Blatter, the AP reports he today missed a scheduled speech—his third skipped appearance in 24 hours as many clamor for his resignation and for tomorrow’s election (he’s up for a fifth term) to be delayed. What he has done, per the BBC: chaired an emergency meeting. The New York Times takes a look at Blatter, who “has been dodging scandals almost from the moment he was elected president … in 1998” in a piece worth reading.
  • Another New York Times piece worth a read: “Chuck Blazer, a Soccer Bon Vivant Laid Low.” He’s the former FIFA executive committee member who appears to have become a “cooperating witness.” When indictments were unsealed yesterday, the feds revealed Blazer pleaded guilty a year and a half ago.
  • The AP looks at American and Swiss investigators’ months-long preparations for the raids’ dramatic end point: FIFA’s annual congress in Zurich. The AP puts it dramatically: “Any leak could have given the game away, allowing international soccer officials to scramble out of Switzerland or time to destroy important evidence.” Read more.
  • At Politico, Josh Gerstein zeroes in on Loretta Lynch, who has gone from being “known mostly as the woman who couldn’t get an up-or-down vote on her nomination as attorney general” to making a “stunning debut” as the world watched. Read.
  • What’s next, in terms of extradition, additional arrests, and the Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022 World Cups? This CNN guide has you covered. Read.
  • Still confused? John Oliver broke down FIFA’s corruption … last year. Watch.

Now you can talk like a pro……you are welcome!
