FIFA: Say Good-Bye To An Era

Once again I feel it necessary for me to post on sports…..something I seldom do…..but this is just too big to ignore.

The big story around the world has been the corruption indictments against FIFA, the world football organization……ever since the story broke there have been calls for Sepp Blatter the Prez of FIFA to resign….not because he was involved but there are those that believe he had knowledge of what was happening around him.

Blatter was up for re-election to the presidency of FIFA and after a couple of rounds he won……I believe it was Jordan’s Prince Ali that was the runner up…….maybe he will get his chance at the spotlight now……..why now?

Sepp Blatter’s triumphant fifth term as president of FIFA is crashing to a halt after all of four days. Blatter today announced that he will resign as president of soccer’s governing body as soon as a successor is named in special elections, reports the BBC. In an almost comical understatement amid the growing corruption scandal, Blatter said, “My mandate does not appear to be supported by everybody.” While Blatter has avoided any criminal charges so far, the New York Times reports that his top lieutenant, Jerome Valcke, has now been linked to $10 million in bribes, suggesting that charges against Blatter himself are possible.

In case anyone is interested in what Blatter had to say in his resignation………

“I have been reflecting deeply about my presidency and about the forty years in which my life has been inextricably bound to FIFA and the great sport of football. I cherish FIFA more than anything and I want to do only what is best for FIFA and for football. I felt compelled to stand for re-election, as I believed that this was the best thing for the organisation. That election is over but FIFA?s challenges are not. FIFA needs a profound overhaul.

While I have a mandate from the membership of FIFA, I do not feel that I have a mandate from the entire world of football ? the fans, the players, the clubs, the people who live, breathe and love football as much as we all do at FIFA.

Therefore, I have decided to lay down my mandate at an extraordinary elective Congress. I will continue to exercise my functions as FIFA President until that election.

That chapter is closed and now we can open a whole new line of pay to play…….

  1. Given the guy just won in a landslide, that he hasn’t been criminally charged, and that rampant criminal corruption has been standard operating procedure at FIFA for at least 3 decades…why would he resign now? This is just TOO unlikely to be true. This “fast breaking news” could be another one of those “Death of Gordon Lightfoot.” stories. I’m giving this one a few days before I believe it.

The ONLY way it’s possible is if the major FIFA corporate sponsors (aka the criminal conspirators) got together to provide a human sacrifice. A human sacrifice might get the media to shut up, allow the idiots in the public to quickly forget (as they always do), and allow the FIFA criminals to get back to work corrupting global football.

I’m sure that all this is the direct result of corrupt American officials/corporations who were upset that FIFA corruption hasn’t worked in America’s favour in a while. They got on the horn to their lackeys in Washington and ta-da! God knows this isn’t meant to clean up FIFA and provide honest sporting.

    1. There is word coming out that the US is building a case against him……I agree this is just the beginning and it will be a long time coming if it is ever cleaned up….

      1. This FIFA thing is a VERY fascinating story and is probably even MORE interesting than The Powers That Be will ever let us to see. Thankfully, Andrew Jennings is on the case. He looks & acts like a nutter, but he’s a very serious BBC journalist. This snarky old Brit has some serious balls and a sense of humour to boot.

In this report, Jennings exposes most of today’s headlines…and more. (England only got 2 votes for their World Cup bid, one was the English rep. There’s a red flag!)

Here’s the catch. This report aired 4 years ago the LAST time Blatter got re-elected. Nearly ALL the evidence has been public for over 4 years! Jennings has been consulting with the FBI for years. https://transparencyinsportblog.wordpress.com/ Yet, very little has happened until now. Why now? Maybe it just took this long for the “right people” to get involved and make it happen.

As I say in my comment below, sport is NOT about sport anymore. It’s been polluted by money & corporate involvement. And where there’s big money, corporate involvement and rampant fraud, you can be sure the political crooks aren’t far behind. On his old website, he adds a very interesting angle to this.

“There is a need for modernization” – Henry Kissinger, a guy who has been loitering in the White House since 1960. Hysterical!

It seems this Kissinger coup took years to organize. The trigger appears to be the IDIOTIC granting of the World Cup to Qatar. It’s a small place with NO stadiums (the Washington Post says 1,200 workers have already died building them), no human rights, minimal tourist infrastructure….and a temperature that averages 45 degrees Celsius during games! Genius call, FIFA fuckwads!

But I think it’s all about those American corporations. They saw American soccer get launched with the World Cup in the 90’s. It’s still alive, so now they smell a big soccer payday with another World Cup. I think there’s an Anglo-American conspiracy to steal back Qatar’s cup for America (and maybe even Russia’s for the Brits).

Jennings has got it right. One should cover sport as one covers business, politics, and crime. Because that’s what it is now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhFeSdGJyVA

The Powers That Be are using sport, not to just reel in millions, but to subtly indoctrinate people into corpo-clepto-facism. McDonald’s associating itself with some of the fittest people on Earth? How can they not be laughed out of the venues? Because they’re one of the puppet masters.

      2. Loitering! Love it! You are right…the big pay day is a good investment for corporations. The Qatar is the straw that breaks the back….I look for there to be a examination of that deal soon and possibly the Russia deal also….

      3. Yeah, who would ever think Kissinger would ever get into sports, even at the Olympics or World Cup level. Goes to show how big league sports-crime has become and how The Powers That Be puppeteers have their hands up every butt imaginable.

This world needs a hell of a lot more Andrew Jennings. I don’t get to hear from him often, but I love that crazy old git.

  2. You know, once upon a time, sports used to be all about….the sport! Now it’s about anything BUT the sport itself.

I think the turning point was when corporate advertising crept in the late 80’s, early 90’s. (a little earlier in soccer) Up went the billboards on playing surfaces. From that moment on, sports were no longer about the fans, but about corporations. Since then, we’ve seen the dominance of luxury boxes for corporate write-offs, corporately named stadiums…you name it. Since the majority of money comes from TV deals, fans are really just there to provide “atmosphere”.

Now its all about greedy players, greedy owners, greedy corporations and stupid fuckwad fans willing to give ALL their money to these assholes and who will endure ANY insult. As a result, you see that nothing is beyond the pale anymore.

Take a gander at this website that primarily features stories on 2 of the most loved, most profitable and most corrupt sporting events.
