There have been numerous incidents where the police have shot and killed unarmed suspects…..many in this country are looking for an answer to this problem….
As usual the country is looking for a quick fix….instead of facing reality….sad to say that a simplistic approach may not be the best approach……..and there you have the “simple” answer…..make the cops wear body cameras…..this will force the cops to re-think their approach to a dangerous situation…….
Personally, I do not think that this is the sole answer….just the simplest one to implement…..and it seems that others feel the way I do….
Can body cameras really curb police abuse? Experts aren’t so sure. http://bit.ly/1yRLSJP
Body cameras on police officers? Not so fast, say some researchers http://trib.al/Ar8jsT0
Read the articles and please let me know what you think….is it or is it not…..the ANSWER?
There seldom is ever a situation where there is just one answer that will completely solve the problem.
What i don’t understand is why the reluctance to talk about an obvious answer that would reduce the number of deaths — change the culture that believes robbing, assaulting, dealing drugs, assaulting police officers is acceptable behavior.
What about the culture within law enforcement….most cops do their job and do it well…but cops seldom respect the community…it is a separate culture from theirs….most see themselves above their community because they wear a badge.
Lobotero,
You are contradicting yourself. You say most cops do their job and do it well then turn around and claim mos see themselves above their community. Yet there are issues in the police mentality and those are being discussed but that is completely off topic from the point that I raised.
Had Michael Brown not stolen cigars, had he not walked down the middle of the street — or at least simply moved to the side walk when given a legal command by the police — this might have gone down completely different.
Had Garner not been repeatedly illegally selling cigarettes, the police would have had nothing to ‘harass’ him about.
Why are we so afraid to come out and talk about that obvious fact — not breaking the law is a great way to reduce people getting shot by cops?
That is not a contradiction…only if one does not want to admit there is a problem….which is what we do….and that leads to problems…
So no matter the violation killing is acceptable….and there is the problem…..so you are saying that a man that steals cigs or sells them is fair game for a gun…..and if had been white it might have gone done differently…..
So no matter the violation killing is acceptable
Sorry, I reject your straw man argument attempt. That isn’t what I said at all. Despite your lame attempt to paint me as an extremist, I am simply pointing out that the people held up as ‘innocent’ were not in fact innocent.
.so you are saying that a man that steals cigs or sells them is fair game for a gun
Another complete straw many fabrication – Neither Brown or Garner died because of the petty crime committed prior to the incident. They died because they assaulted a law enforcement officer. In the case of Brown, Wilson’s testimony —strongly supported by other witnesses and forensic evidence — shows that Brown tried to kill or injure Wilson. Certainly repeated blow to the head count as that, not to mention his attempt to get control over Wilson’s firearm.
Garner also resisted arrest and committed aggravated assault when he slammed the officer into the glass window. They died directly due to their own actions.
Why are you not admitting that?
And nice try to throw the race card…pathetic but nice try. Not buying it.
If you would pull your head out you would see I asked a question….but that would take effort and you want nothing but some mental midget to agree with you….nice talking with you…tah tah….
hard to tell where you asked a question when you use ellipses as punctuation.
And if you didn’t keep your head up your fifth point of contact, you would see I answered your question. NO, they aren’t fair game because they are selling cigs or stealing –
Love how you refuse to discuss the issue I brought up — would addressing the crime rate and the crime committed by people reduce the deaths of those same people?
You haven’t tried to talk to me. you’ve talked at me. To avoid addressing the issue — the fact the ‘innocent victims’ weren’t. And addressing their crimes would reduce the possibility that people like them get shot.
Sorry dude….but rudeness is gone here….you start down that line and we move on…BTW if you had read what the post was a bout…IT WAS A QUESTION that you did not address…..you did not want to discuss anything….you had an agenda and tried to pursue……do that on the aptly name site…..and again…Tah Tah
Lobotero,
There are none so blind as those who will not see
Read the articles and please let me know what you think….is it or is it not…..the ANSWER?
And I answered —
There seldom is ever a situation where there is just one answer that will completely solve the problem.
While it might take a modicum of intelligence to see how that answers your question, it does. It clearly states it is not THE answer.
So don’t tell me I didn’t answer your question when it was the first words I wrote.
Thanx for the update…but as long as you want to question others mental capacity…..it is easy to say nothing and claim it is answer….the GOP has been doing it for years…..please say hello to the rest of the head in sand people….mister I do not think anyone can tell you anything….at least we agree that there is not a single answer however I am sure that we will never agree on a solution…..so without further writing…..peace….out!
