Could It Be A New SyFy Movie?

It is Sunday……I can feel the energy coming back into my overtaxed brain….it is semi-orgasmic…LOL

Since I am an old fart i can remember going to those bad SciFi movies from the past…Them…..Rodan…..Deadly Mantis….on and on…..and the channel with the funny name SyFy has made some of those extremely bad movies that are destined to be in the same category…..movies like Mansquito…..Crocosaurus……etc….etc….

Now a bit off topic…..I live in the South and we here have to fight the deadly infestations of fleas every year and that is why if a person has a house and a dog they do not have carpeting….a great place for the little bastards to breed and hide in ambush……I know right about now you are asking where is this whackadoodle going with this?  Be patient it is coming!

Okay…now to the point!  Newser recently reported……

What kind of flea feeds on dinosaurs? The big kind. Scientists have found fossils of Jurassic and Cretaceous-era fleas measuring up to an inch in length buried in China, the Telegraph reports. In addition to their unusual size, the fleas’ saw-like “siphonate” mouthparts, which were used to suck the blood from their prey, are unusually long and sturdy. Because the only furry mammals of the period were very small, scientists hypothesize that such large fleas must have fed on dinosaurs—the long siphonate might have been used to pierce their hides.  Today’s far tinier fleas only prey on animals with fur or feathers, but because feathered dinosaurs have been unearthed in China, it’s possible they were the fleas’ main prey.

If you have ever been attacked by today’s fleas you can then imagine if the little buggers were still an inch or more in size!  OUCH!  Comes to mind.  Hey, if they could make a movie about giant piranhas would it be a stretch for giant fleas?

I Lost The Weight!

It has been awhile since I last posted from the VOMITORIUM….hat is my sub-category for things in the news or in society that make me want to puke……this time it is all those weight loss ads we see endlessly…..most of my readers know that I am pissed off at the media elites especially when they start up on the obesity thing, especially when they talk about government intervention…..

Marie lost 50 lbs and added $50,000 of plastic to her body…..Linda lost 38 lbs and her beautiful brown hair turned blonde….Mike lost 100 lbs and he looks like death warmed over…..I guess my question is….just how affective are these ‘expensive’ programs……and then there is that magic pill that helps you lose weight and gives you 6 pack abs…..and yes…people are dumb enough to buy them…..

Unfortunately, weight-loss clubs such as Weight Watchers and Slimming World are part of the problem in that dieting only contributes to weight gain. It doesn’t matter which approach the slimming club takes—be it a point system, a “healthy lifestyle” change or using pre-packaged foods or supplements—clients usually lose weight in the beginning. But this initial weight loss is deceiving because after the diet, often a month or so, most people will regain most of the weight they lost. More seriously, within 4 to 5 years 95% will gain back the lost weight and one-third to two-thirds of their clients ultimately end up being fatter than their pre-diet weight. They don’t help the individual understand their appetite, how to eat with their hunger, how to recognise fullness and not override it. It substitutes compulsive eating for compulsive dieting. Although these clubs may have the best of intentions in helping people manage their health, they in fact are only contributing to the rising rates of obesity.

One of the largest motivators the diet industry relies on is shame. Instead of acknowledging that our bodies naturally resist weight loss and seek their own equilibrium, the onus is placed on the client’s lack of willpower. Research clearly shows that dieting, which relies on restriction and avoiding ‘bad’ foods, leads to overeating and binging and interferes with the proper functioning of our metabolism. Regardless of these facts, the message that slimming clubs consistently send is that we must control ourselves in order to be successful. With heads hung low, “failed” dieters return time and time again to slimming clubs with the hope that “this time” they’ll be able to stick with the program and lose the weight for good. But most of them won’t, keeping them stuck in the inevitable diet/binge cycle.

Dieting plays a significant role as to why obesity is on the rise. Tackling the issue of obesity requires a major shift in thinking. When it comes to nourishing our bodies, we have been taught to focus on external cues: follow this diet, avoid these foods, eat more of these products etc. In order for true health to be achieved, we need to redirect our focus internally. Dieting teaches us to ignore our natural hunger and fullness signals and it does not address the underlying emotional issues that can often lead to overeating.

It’s crucial to point out that although people weigh more than they have in the past, having the label of ‘overweight’ or ‘obese’ doesn’t necessarily equate to ill health. Various studies have indicated that yo-yo dieting can be more detrimental to our health than being categorized as ‘overweight’. (Many studies have shown that conditions frequently attributed to obesity such as diabetes, gall bladder problems and hypertension are actually strongly correlated with yo-yo dieting.) Furthermore, we need to critically examine what ‘overweight’ and ‘obese’ really mean. These labels are derived from the flawed BMI (Body Mass Index) chart that excludes important factors such as age, metabolism rate, muscle mass and physical build. As Susie Orbach states in her book Bodies this unsound tool categorizes Brad Pitt as ‘overweight’ and George Clooney as ‘obese’.

These “miracle” diets are about as effective as debt consolidation……dismal success rate!

Let us be real…..eat less and eat colorful and you should be healthy, wealthy and wise……but keep in mind…..Eat well-Stay Fit and Die Anyway!

Let Libya Be The Example

I hear McCain thumping his chest over Syria…..I hear the Israeli agent at the CFR, Senor, thumping his chest over Syria…..everybody has an opinion but NO one is asking the Syrian people what they want…..without that we would be just meddling….regardless which political moron spouts off……

I realize that Libya is not as interesting as it was before they whacked Qaddafi……..Think back a couple of months ago when Libya was going full stroke and we had the Right and the Left with all their superb opinions and what happened?  Well, the big story in the MSM was that the oil was flowing….and that should tell you what that armed conflict was all about…..

Reports coming out of Libya say that many are being held and ransomed to their families, black Libyans are being murder under the guise that they are mercenaries….and now we have another problem….a problem that is NOT reported in the MSM…….

Cyrenaica, the eastern region of Libya, has elected a regional congress and declared autonomy from the capital Tripoli.

Thousands of major tribal leaders and militia commanders attended a celebratory ceremony in the region’s center Benghazi.

The congress stated that Cyrenaica had suffered decades of marginalization under the ouster ruler Muammar Gaddafi. Now the oil-rich region extending from the coastal city of Sirte to Egyptian border is taking its fortunes into its own hands.

The congress appointed Ahmed al-Zubair Ahmed, who was a political prisoner under Gaddafi and currently is a member of NTC, as leader of its governing council, Al Jazeera reported. Despite being a part of the Libya’s official ruling body, Al-Zubair pledged to protect the rights of the eastern region.

Libya’s National Transitional Council, which started uprising against Gaddafi in Benghazi and moved to Tripoli after his overthrow, repeatedly voiced objection to the planned autonomy. They said Libya’s transformation into a federal state paves the way to eventual split-up of the North African country.

The East, however, is pushing for a return to a system of rule that existed before the coup of 1967 which brought Gaddafi to power. At the time Libya was divided into three states – western Tripolitania, south-western Fezzan and the eastern Cyrenaica (or Barqa in Arabic).

Barqa will follow a peaceful way of making Tripoli and the NTC recognize its autonomy. Baaira does not rule out a possibility of going to the UN for such recognition.

The Easterners have already formed their own army, the Barqa Supreme Military Council, which is independent from the NTC. The army is made up from revolutionaries who fought against Gaddafi rule last year. And now the forces are ready to fight for autonomy, Barqa commander Col. Hamid Al-Hassi says.

“Even if we had to take over the oil fields by deploying our forces there or risk another war, we will not hesitate for the sake of Barqa,” Hassi told the Associated Press.

If only we had been told of this possibility.   But wait!  We were and on the blog entitled Info Ink!

Spain Gives EU The Finger

Daily we are told all about the restructing that the PIGS of the EU are having to do….well Greece is not going well and could bottom out tomorrow and yet they, the EU keeps forcing governments to do what they want….Iceland’s population said NO and now Spain is flipping off the EU…..

As many readers will already have seen, Premier Mariano Rajoy has refused point blank to comply with the austerity demands of the European Commission and the European Council (hijacked by Merkozy).

Taking what he called a “sovereign decision”, he simply announced that he intends to ignore the EU deficit target of 4.4pc of GDP for this year, setting his own target of 5.8pc instead (down from 8.5pc in 2011).

He is surely right to seize the initiative. Spain’s economy will contract by 1.7pc this year under his modified plans and unemployment will reach 24pc (or 29pc under the 1990s method of counting). To compound this with manic fiscal tightening – and no offsetting devaluation – is intellectually indefensible.

There comes a point when a democracy can no longer sacrifice its citizens to please reactionary ideologues determined to impose 1930s scorched-earth policies. Ya basta.

“Spain and other nations in the EU are sick and tired of Chancellor Merkel’s meddling and Germany’s usurpation – with the help of Sarkozy’s France and their pretended “executive presidency” that does not in fact exist in EU treaties.”

Before everyone starts blaming those damn socialists….Spain voted out the socialist government a couple of months ago and this government is more conservative…..

The EU is slowly disintegration ………who cares, you may ask?  Just wait!  When the world markets start a downward spiral yet again and you demand an explanation…….please do not forget….you had one!

The Third Way

College of Political Knowledge

Yesterday was the Super Tuesday…….and all the rhetoric that has been flowing from the lips of candidates made me think of something from my college days…….

The Third Way…..I recently heard this used to describe centrism…..there is even a think tank called the third way…..what it is is a cope out to principles it is NOT a third way but rather a way for big business to further insert its political penis into the process……Clinton and his worthless bunch of Dems, the Democratic Leadership Council, that help give use the crap with NAFTA and the repeal of Glass/Steagall and now they want to play it as if they represent some silent bunch of mindless automatons…..(maybe they do)…..

But when I heard the term I thought of the days of FASCISM….yes I am old…….that political process was called the third way….not capitalism and not communism…..but an alternative…..with the following precepts…..

1-a single mass party

2-police used against real and imagined enemies

3-monoplistic control of the mass media

4-central control of the economy

5-an ideology that covers all aspects of a person life

Now sports fans….does any of that sound remotely familiar?

It was called the third way because it lied to the people that it was an alternative….capitalism was preserved while the mass actions were taunted as it was in socialism……but it was nothing by an authoritarian form of government where the people were solely tools of the state with NO input and NO power…….(does any of that sound familiar?)

Use of the term third way is nothing but a ploy to keep the extension of total control over the lives of the people…..even if some well known politicos like Kerry and others are member of this so-called movement….they seem to want us top believe that Americans are somehow not a political animal when in reality it is all just a game….Americans are either conservative or liberal (the American definition not the philosophical one)……these people are trying to reorganize society using a political blueprint that the reps only care about…..

So these people in this “third way” are doing just what the fascists of old were doing…..they are claiming to be drawing from both sides of the political spectrum…..

Radical centrists also can be divisive, as opposed to the non-partisan approach of traditional centrism. Radical centrists are quick to dissociate themselves from traditional moderates, whom they often contrast as the “sensible center” or deride as the “squishy center.”  (Does that sound familiar?)

I regret that I see more on the lines of Germany after WW1 than I see real answers to real problems our country is now facing……I also see a danger forming in the minds of politicians and their handlers……the idea that the people are in control of the process is GONE….we have been replaced by CASH!  And that can lead to a way of life that is not good for the country.

How To Get Congress’ Attention

The Congress has gone back to work, if you can call what they do as….work, and so far there is NOTHING on the docket that would create a job, unless it is for someone on their staff to empty the trash cans…………

It is time for the American people to find a way to get the attention of those people they elected to work on the problems of the country….not the perceived problems, but actual problems that will be plaguing us for decades thanks to their inaction over the years……

I recently read that the last Congress actually worked 170 days……they did not even work a total of 6 months…..and Perry wanted a part time Congress….I would say we have that already…..

The voter needs to get the attention of those people in Congress…they need to be awaken to the fact that we ALL think the are corrupt and lazy….I mean come on….their approval rating is at about 11%….that is worse than people who think socialism is a better system….

I have said, on many occasions,  that we need to slap these people hard up side the head and get their attention….and a couple of the ideas that I have been playing with……term limits, get money out of the political system, do what they do in the UK, when an impasse is there then you dissolve the Congress and start over, NO lobbying for 10 years after one leaves Congress, work a solid 4 days a week……and then there is the idea that freshman Congress people live in a dorm for the first term, no family…..or they can have 5 paid staffers everyone else comes out of pools…just a few thoughts.  Have any?

The system is failing, the political system, that is, and it is the fault of Congress…the voter sends the people to Washington in good faith and so far their faith has been betrayed by a bunch of political bovine fecal matter that has NOTHING to do with improving the conditions in this country, just a way to acquire more money for their next campaign……as long as Congress is allowed to continue the way it function today…the people will always lose and the country will slide further into the abyss created by the people we trust……

Time for the voter to pull their heads out of their butts and vote from reason and not that of passion…passion has delivered NOTHING but misery….so far!

Pain At The Pump

We all have heard the rhetoric about the price of gas….it is Obama’s fault…..we need to drill more…..American oil will bring the prices down…sorry, sports fans but NONE of that is true!  At best it is just electioneering bumper stickers….but the American people are always falling for bullsh*t and why would this be any different, if anything it will get more traction because it effects most Americans daily…….

Let’s look at a few facts…….by 2006, the US was the 3rd leading oil producer in the world…..we are drilling so much that we have become an oil exporter for the first time since 1949 and oil production is up 10% since Obama is been the president….and NONE of that has brought the cost of gas down…..and now they want me to believe that more drilling will do that which it has not done in at least 5 years…..sorry asshats… I am NOT that gullible!

Gasomics 101:  Drilling does not affect gas prices at the pump despite rhetoric
Gas prices are not a function of how much oil is drilled in the US versus how much is drilled in the world. Oil prices are set on a global level. Gas prices are the result of three factors:  global price of a barrel of oil, state and federal taxes, and gas supplies coming out of refineries.
Impact of the price of crude oil
Since the US imports over 64% of its oil, the amount of oil produced domestically would have to double to the levels of 1970 which was1.2 million BPD to make any difference at all. It took nearly 40 years to decline to the levels under Bush. If it were even possible to produce that much oil in the US again, it would take years to ramp up production.
The cost of extracting a barrel of oil today according to the CEO of Exxon, the nation’s largest oil company, is about $60-$70 dollars a barrel or $0.65 cents a gallon. Oil is trading on the markets at over $100 a barrel—a 30% to 35% gross markup.  Oil companies make a profit of 2-3 cents a gallon. Where does the rest go? A large portion goes to Wall Street oil speculators.  Industry experts have estimated oil speculators increase the cost of gasoline by $0.75 a gallon.
Sometimes the price of crude oil increases due to production levels set by OPEC. Other times, it is affected by a disruption in oil supply. That was the case with the spikes in the 70’s. Neither of these are the case with this current increase.  The Arab spring uprisings were the excuse for speculators driving up prices, but no disruption in oil production or shipping has actually occurred. This is an artificial increase in gas prices designed to put profits in speculator’s pockets.
Impact of gas taxes and taxes on oil companies

The federal excise tax on gasoline is 18.4 cents a gallon—the same as under George Bush. States add taxes ranging from a low of 8 cents a gallon in Alaska to 31.9 cents a gallon in New York.  Gas taxes do not move with the price of oil or the price of gas.
Oil companies and their apologists blame taxes for high prices. Truth is, oil companies have so many write offs and subsidies, they actually pay almost no federal tax.
Impact of refineries

A very large portion of the cost difference between crude oil, and price of gas is the cost of refining it. Previous increases were the result of a reduction in refining capacity. Hurricane Katrina damaged oil refineries in the gulf reducing capacity. Fires at refineries also cut capacity.  None of that is occurring now.  Gas supplies are normal.

Are the President’s policies to blame for current gas prices?
The actual answer is that gasoline prices are not really affected by any policy of the Obama administration.  Domestic production is increasing, not decreasing.
After a short moratorium on drilling in the Gulf after the BP disaster, permits for new deep water oil wells are being issued. The recent Exxon discovery was from a well permitted after the BP moratorium was lifted. The President announced a week ago new policies to speed up domestic oil production even more.
It is an election year, and Americans are hurting from high gas prices. It creates a convenient opportunity to blame the public’s misery on the President to win votes. The facts do not support this rhetoric, but in political speeches, facts seldom come into play. Production declined under every Republican President and Republican Congress since Nixon.
Speculation, my friends!  There is your culprit, not anything any president has done or said.  But by all means, vote for the biggest liar and your gas will be $2.50 a gallon as soon as he/she is elected……..and by the way, as long as you are buying bullsh*t…..I have a bridge in Brooklyn I would like to sell you……
You want to spend less on gas?  Here is an idea……..STOP buying and driving gas guzzling monstrosities just to impress your neighbors….mindless consumerism is just as guilty of raising gas prices as anything…..

How Not To Earn Extra Cash

Times are tough and most of us are always looking for ways to earn a few extra bucks to help pay for those luxuries like food, gas and shelter…..there is always a way especially if you watch early morning infomercials…..and there are some pretty unique ways to earn that cash…but this one is NOT on that list!

Adrian Kline, a 43-year-old Brighton, Colo. embalmer is accused of stealing gold teeth from corpses and then pawning them for cash, according to the Longmont Times-Call. Longmont pawn brokers noticed that Kline was frequently bringing in dental gold and thought it was “creepy” and “weird.”

Prior to embalming, Kline is suspected of removing gold crowns from the bodies, and then after cremation, Kline is suspected of removing dental gold from the remains, according to 9News. He would then allegedly take the gold to pawn shops to sell. A Boulder Grand jury indicted Kline on suspicion of eight counts of providing false information to a pawn broker and two counts of providing false information to a secondhand dealer.

Police say that from May through November of 2011, Kline made 17 sales at various locations that added up to nearly $4,000. Kline told police he has eight children and needed the money for food. He also told them that he only took gold out of the dumpster behind Aspen Mortuaries after they had been thrown out, but police believe the gold was taken from bodies inside the mortuary.

I am sorry but this is just sick…..apparently robbing the dead is not illegal but giving false info to a pawn dealer is…..I remember the stories from the Death Camps of WW2…it seems that according to law is not that big of a deal…..

Better Living Through Surgery

Once again the weekend has come upon me and my little brain can take a break and be better prepared for the next round of political chicanery….

There seems to be a never ending new thing for cosmetic surgery….we have face lifts, boob jobs, tummy tucks, butt lifts and ass fat injected into out lips….all in the pursuit of trying to “make” ourselves perfect in every way…..but no matter how much cash you spend to make that perfect body there was always the problem that you were too short…….in our pursuit of the perfect body and recapturing our youth….what can we do?

The Week magazine has an article on the next new thing in cosmetic surgery…..

“Just when you think plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures couldn’t get any weirder,” says Wendy Michaels at LimeLife, “along comes something like this”: Limb-lengthening operations to add a few inches to your height. Though the painful surgery was once reserved for people with dwarfism and children with one leg longer than the other, an increasing number of (mostly) men of just-below-average height are seeking it out for purely cosmetic reasons, according to ABC News. Here, a brief guide to the “radical and costly procedure”:

How does limb-lengthening work?
Though medieval torture devices aren’t involved, the procedure is arduous and prolonged. A doctor breaks the patient’s shin bone and inserts a telescoping rod. Over time, the rod pulls the bone apart very gradually, roughly 1 millimeter a day. As the leg bone is stretched apart, new bone, nerves, arteries, and skin grow to fill in the gap. The whole process takes about three months, followed by several more months of demanding physical therapy. Only a few American doctors perform this procedure, which costs about $85,000 in the U.S., and significantly less abroad.

How much taller can it make you?
Generally, the surgery can add two or three inches to a patient’s height, although a New York man using the pseudonym “Apotheosis” added six inches to his original 5-foot-6 frame. More typical is New Jersey resident Akash Shukla, 25, who has “grown” to about 5-foot-2 from 4-foot-11. Limb-lengthening usually isn’t performed on anyone over 5-foot-9.

Is the procedure safe?
Not necessarily. A 2006 study in the journal International Orthopaedics found that “complications of this treatment are frequent.” They include nerve damage, uneven lengthening, hip problems, and paralysis.

How bad do you want to be taller?  After my fall that screwed up my leg and the operation to insert that metal I have been made one half inch taller…..well one leg is a half inch longer than the other…..a Hell of a way to get that extra half inch.  Huh?

I am always amazed at the torture we humans will endure in the name of beauty….but this will be painful and just sick if you even consider such a thing…..looks like I am a dying breed…people who actually like themselves……..

There are times when anal statements go beyond tasteless and approach disgusting……and one of the most disgusting people with the most disgusting mouth is no other than the Right’s media God……Rush Limbaugh….

We all know the back and forth on contraception……and recently a Georgetown student testified, Sandra Fluke and Rush attacked her before she even finished her testimony…..calling her a “slut”……but that is not his most anal, disgusting statement……

“So, Ms. Fluke and the rest of you feminazis, here’s the deal. If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it, and I’ll tell you what it is. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch.”

This person is a perv that needs to be off the air……..I am waiting to see how many in the GOP will attack him…..my guess is that will get a free ride using the 1st amendment as a defense….

Maybe they ought to see about giving this pig the same punishment they gave Imus for his “nappy hos” comment….we will NEVER be that lucky!
