More Saturday Random Thoughts

The weekend and I try to bring all the news that did not fit into my week day posts….a little FYI, a little whoa, a little who gives a crap….all for you and your knowledge….

First, I hate the History Channel…it NO longer airs history but rather the reality of stupid….it is a knock-off of the old movies “Jackass”…..their new show is about a couple of idiots that inflict pain upon themselves as entertainment…..

There is a disclaimer….but it is CRAP!  In the world of Youtube how many teens will try to top these guys to be famous for a few fleeting minutes?

This dude had a very bad day indeed……what we go through to have sex and then get cold water thrown on us….

This dude falls into the category of….”sucks being you”…..

The distance between Whitestown, Ind., and Neenah, Wis., is just over 350 miles—not usually a distance one would want to travel mostly on foot. That apparently didn’t faze Tommy Lee Jenkins, however, as he allegedly thought a 14-year-old girl was waiting for him for possible sex. What was really waiting for the 32-year-old on Oct. 10 in Wisconsin’s Winnebago County: an arrest, as the girl was actually an undercover cop, the Oshkosh Northwestern reports. The Washington Post lays out the online relationship Jenkins and “Kaylee Marie” allegedly started on Oct. 1, including instant messages in which the supposed teen revealed she was 14 and liked to drink, and which soon became explicit, per a police affidavit. On Oct. 6, the affidavit notes, “Kaylee” agreed to have Jenkins come to Wisconsin to get her—and he messaged her he’d started walking.

It’s not clear how much Jenkins actually walked, but he sent “Kaylee” pics as he made his journey, authorities say; they add he also sent a message saying he wanted to have 500 kids with her. Local cops and the FBI arrested him when he got to Winnebago County. Jenkins had previously pleaded no contest to child abuse and was sentenced to four years of probation after two young boys told police in 2011 that Jenkins had molested them. “Our nation faces an epidemic of child sexual abuse, with the internet making it too easy for predators to communicate with children across the country,” US Attorney Matthew Krueger says in a statement. Jenkins faces charges of using a computer to attempt to persuade, induce, or entice a minor to engage in unlawful sexual activity, which could bring at least 10 years and up to life in prison if convicted. He’s set to appear in court on Oct. 23, per KMOV. (Read more pedophile stories.)

Remember in the early days of the Smart phone and all the cancer scares?  Well they are back and this time it is 5G that is culprit…..

As 5G cellular network tech looms, conventional wisdom dictates that cell phone radiation is more or less safe for humans.

But writing for the widely respected magazine Scientific American, University of California, Berkeley, public health researcher Joel Moskowitz argues that we don’t yet understand the risks — and that more study is necessary before we roll out 5G infrastructure.

Moskowitz’s main concern: there just isn’t any research on the health effects of 5G. But he also points to a swathe of studies that suggest that the existing standards 2G and 3G are more dangerous than generally believed.

Finally, the TV channels are full of the UFO hunters and those that think that aliens are among us….it seems that whistle blower Snowden has thrown a bit of cold water on their hopes….

Extraterrestrial enthusiasts may be disappointed to hear Edward Snowden’s official take on the matter: The infamous NSA leaker doesn’t think the government is hiding evidence of extraterrestrial life. While he was a contractor at the National Security Agency, “I had ridiculous access to the networks of the NSA, CIA, military, all these groups—I couldn’t find anything” indicating such evidence exists, he said Wednesday in an interview on Joe Rogan’s podcast. “If it’s hidden, and it could be hidden, it’s hidden really damn well especially for people on the inside.” CNET notes extraterrestrial life is a favorite topic of Rogan’s, and Snowden told the host, “I know, Joe, I know you want there to be aliens.”

Moving On Up…To The Stars

AS usual I will be posting on the developments with our search for a new home after we blow this one up…..

First, most people interested in planetary exploration knows what is meant by the “Goldilocks Zone”……if you are not one of them then Google is just a click away (look it up)……

But does this “Zone” mean we should think it is a good spot for us humans?

“Any type of planet can orbit in the habitable zone,” but only such Earthlike planets are likely to have liquid water on their surfaces, says astrophysicist Elizabeth Tasker of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. “We all secretly know this, as both the moon and Mars orbit within the habitable zone, but neither have lakeside retreats.”

Why just being in the habitable zone doesn’t make exoplanets livable

Without a proper mode of transportation we humans are stuck on this planet…regardless what we do to destroy it…..why?

Humans will never migrate to a planet outside of Earth’s solar system because it would take far too long to get there, Swiss Nobel laureate Michel Mayor said

Mayor and his colleague Didier Queloz were on Tuesday awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics for their research refining techniques to detect so-called exoplanets.

“If we are talking about exoplanets, things should be clear: we will not migrate there,” Mayor told AFP near Madrid on the sidelines of a conference when asked about the possibility of humans moving to other planets.

“These planets are much, much too far away. Even in the very optimistic case of a livable planet that is not too far, say a few dozen light years, which is not a lot, it’s in the neighbourhood, the time to go there is considerable,” he added.

https://phys.org/news/2019-10-humans-migrate-planets-nobel-winner.html  Or  https://thenextweb.com/insider/2019/10/11/why-migrating-to-another-planet-is-a-stupid-and-implausible-idea/

Beyond our chances of migrating to a new home…..we have other space news…..like researchers have found large structures at the center of our galaxy….

There’s something really, really big in the middle of our Milky Way galaxy — one of the largest structures ever observed in the region, in fact. An enormous pair of bubbles in an hourglass-like arrangement is sending out radio emissions hundreds of light-years beyond our galaxy. Scientists aren’t sure how it formed, but its existence will likely teach us more about the supermassive black hole lurking in the center of the Milky Way.

https://curiosity.com/topics/scientists-have-discovered-enormous-balloon-like-structures-in-the-center-of-our-galaxy-curiosity/

Then a researcher for SETI has made an interesting claim…..

A physicist who’s on the hunt for extraterrestrial life says there’s a chance that an ancient alien civilization has been spying on Earth for millions of years.

That’s not to say that he’s suggesting they walk among us, but physicist and independent SETI researcher James Benford suggests that aliens could have visited a rock orbiting the Sun in a path similar to that or Earth, according to Live Science. While such an extraterrestrial visit is extremely unlikely, it’s technically within the realm of possibility that alien tech is sitting on one of those so-called co-orbitals, waiting to be uncovered.

https://futurism.com/the-byte/seti-aliens-spy-orbiting-sun

Speaking of SETI….after all these years of trying why have we not made contact as of yet?

Didier Queloz, a physicist from the University of Cambridge, was named a co-winner of the Nobel prize in physics on Tuesday for his discovery of the first exoplanet orbiting a sun-like star.

Queloz, who calls himself a “planet hunter,” said following the award ceremony that his work has led him to become “absolutely convinced” that humans will detect alien life in the next 100 years.

“I can’t believe we are the only living entity in the whole universe. There’s just way too many planets, way too may stars … the chemistry that led to life has to happen elsewhere,” Queloz in a talk at the Science Media Center in London on Tuesday.

https://www.businessinsider.com/why-no-contact-with-aliens-2019-9

Now speaking of finding life…..did we find it on Mars in the 70s?

Nasa found evidence of alien life in the 1970s, according to a former senior scientist – and ignored it.

The Viking landers were sent to the Martian surface more than 40 years ago, with the aim of exploring the planet. They included an experiment known as Labeled Release, or LR, which was intended to look for signs of life on the planet.

The results came back in 1976 – and seemed to indicate that something was happening on the surface. Gilbert V Levin – an engineer and inventor who was the principal investigator on the experiment – has now written a long article arguing that those findings were indications of life on Mars, which were ignored by Nasa.

https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/nasa-alien-life-proof-mars-space-viking-lr-a9156001.html

Finally, I mentioned Mars and the rover has discovered something kinda amazing……an ancient oasis….

NASA scientists believe Mars may have had an oasis environment around 3.5 billion years ago, they said Monday. Evidence of ponds scattered across a 100-mile-wide basin called the Gale Crater was found by the Curiosity rover, which discovered mineral salts mixed with sediment in rocks.

Curiosity is currently exploring each layer of the Gale Crater and Mount Sharp to uncover the history of Mars, which scientists think may have gone from an underwater landscape with deep lakes to an oasis-style series of shallow ponds.

“Streams might have laced the crater’s walls,” NASA said Monday, adding “climate fluctuations” changed the environment from wet to desert. Curiosity had previously found evidence of freshwater lakes on Mars, too.

Closing Thought–25Oct19

Seriously?  Why?

Please someone tell the Dems to stop thinking the unthinkable.

We hear all the whining about the crop of Dem candidates for 2020 and somewhere some moron that gets paid way too much for their thoughts, is pushing the unthinkable of another Clinton candidacy….

Hillary Clinton is not running in 2020. Right? She’s said so herself. And yet the influential Drudge Report on Tuesday has a lead headline trumpeting, “Dem Halloween: Hillary Leaves Door Open.” The headline links to the American Mirror, which has a story about what Clinton didn’t say at a recent forum in Portland. When discussing the Democratic field, she said: “All that matters is that we win. I hate to be so, you know, simplistic about it. We have to nominate … the best …,” which is when an audience member shouted, “You!” Clinton did not shut down the idea. She smiled and laughed and said, “Oh, my. Well, thank you.” (Watch video of her answer here.)

That report, however, is not the only story generating some Clinton buzz. In the New York Times, Jonathan Martin reports that Clinton (as well as Michael Bloomberg) has told people privately in the last few weeks that she would consider running if she thought she could win and if there were an obvious opening. Translation: If Joe Biden dropped out or floundered in the polls. Sources tell Martin that she shares concerns about Biden as well as whether Elizabeth Warren is too liberal. All in all, though, Martin thinks the chances of her running are “remote.”

WTF?

Are we to believe that this person cannot get over being beat by Trump?  Do we have to go through all this embarrassing crap to soothe her butt hurt ego?

If she makes a comeback like this then I will be gone from ever considering a Dem ever again for my vote…..and another thing…..if they continue this stupidity will the Democratic Party survive the 2020 election?

It is no secret to the observant that since the 2016 election, the Democratic Party has been in a state of near-collapse, the victim of its own hubris, having lost their moral compass with unsubstantiated Russisgate allegations; those accusations continue as a futile exercise of domestic regime change.

Today’s Dems are less than a bona fide opposition party offering zero policy solutions, unrecognizable from past glories and not the same political party many of us signed up for many years ago. Instead, the American public is witnessing a frenzied, unscrupulous strategy.

Will the Democratic Party Exist after 2020 Election

Dems are considering destroying their party forever.

2020 Another One Bites The Dust #7

The 2020 Democratic candidate field was extremely crowded….at one point there were at least 20 proclaimed…..slowly but slowly the field has been growing smaller….so far 6 candidates have decided to drop out of the race for the nomination….and as of yesterday the field has become a bit smaller…..

Rep. Tim Ryan has called it quits…..

The Democratic field went down by one Thursday, when Rep. Tim Ryan announced he is exiting the 2020 presidential race. “After seven long months of hard work I will be returning home to my family and friends and community in Ohio to run for re-election for my congressional seat,” he said in a video. CNN notes that his campaign had “failed to gain any traction” among the crowded field of contenders; he raised just $425,000 in the third quarter of this year and did not qualify for the September or October debate. Speaking of debates, however, Thursday brought good news for another 2020 candidate: Sen. Amy Klobuchar became the ninth candidate to qualify for the next debate, to be held Nov. 20, FiveThirtyEight reports

THis is what happens when you as a candidate gets NO traction with donors or voters…..you go back to what you were doing before you started this ego trip.

As per IST tradition….we will let Queen show the candidate the stage door….exit stage right…..

A Cabinet Meeting From Political Hell

I remember one of Trump’s first cabinet meetings when they all got together and spent their allotted time massaging Trump’s genitals….it was embarrassing to anyone that holds our system in awe.

But Trump has topped that embarrassing moment with a further and more embarrassing moment……Trump wet on an hour plus rant against the Dems and the media…..

This is 6 of the most bonkers statements in the meeting….

President Donald Trump held a press availability during a Cabinet meeting on Monday, during which he went on a number of tangents and rants. Here are six of the wildest moments:

Schiff Is The Whistleblower’s Informant

6 Bonkers Moments From Trump’s Cabinet Meeting

The time was a rambling ranting mess….I wish that the above 6 were the only falsehoods spoken by our Dear Supreme Monarch…..but they were not…..

President Donald Trump delivered a blistering and rambling monologue to the journalists he allowed into his Cabinet meeting for more than 70 minutes on Monday. His press secretary, Stephanie Grisham, later tweeted, “I hope we see honest reporting from today’s mtg.”

We can honestly tell you that Trump’s remarks were highly dishonest.
We’re still looking into some of the President’s claims. We can report that at least 20 of them were false:

I wish that I could say that there was anything accurate in the words thrown out by the president…..I wish I could but alas I cannot….

But for doubters….please watch all 1 hour and 12 minutes of this presser……and then make up your own mind….it is a long video but illustrates just how badly Trump is going off the rails……

Yet more proof…..if you do not see his delusion then you do not want to see it for whatever reason…..and yes it is a long one but the rambling is very telling……

They say, the MSM, that the country is getting weary of all this silliness by our president and his toadies…..

You know, I’m old enough to remember when Republicans in Congress called down fire and brimstone on the Obama administration for not cooperating with Congressional oversight in the Benghazi probe. Here’s a 2012 clip of Congressman Trey Gowdy blasting executive branch members at an oversight hearing. Gowdy has just joined Team Trump, to help Build The Stonewall.

This ought to be a big deal to conservatives: to protect the right of Congress to do oversight on the imperial executive. I don’t respect the administration’s contempt for Congress. We all know Adam Schiff gonna Adam Schiff, but Trump brought this entire mess onto himself, and he can’t bluster his way out of it.

People — including Republican voters — are getting fed up with it. These numbers are not moving in the way the president needs them to:

Trump Fatigue

Personally I think that is good news….but sadly I am not buying it at all……I think that his falsehoods and BS is just making him stronger with the Alt Right and the bigots in our nation.

I mean I have a problem with our representatives that should be above reproach should ever use the language this president does…..

President Trump turned his fire on members of his own party Wednesday—and they did not take kindly to being called “human scum.” “The Never Trumper Republicans, though on respirators with not many left, are in certain ways worse and more dangerous for our Country than the Do Nothing Democrats,” the president tweeted. “Watch out for them, they are human scum!” Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger said it was time for lawmakers to talk to each other “as grownups,” the Hill reports. “To call anybody human scum is beneath the office of the presidency. You can’t say that, right? You’re the president,” he told CNN. “You have different standards.”

Peter Wehner, a Trump critic who served in the previous three Republican administrations, said he considers the insult a “badge of honor,” USA Today reports. “What those of us who are ‘human scum’ … particularly appreciate is how you’ve more than validated our concerns about you-psychologically, morally/ethically and in terms of temperament/judgment,” he tweeted. “You turned out to be at least as bad as we warned you’d be.” Trump, in other tweets, criticized William Taylor, the former top diplomat to Ukraine who testified at an impeachment hearing this week. “It would be really great,” Trump said, if people in his administration “could stop hiring Never Trumpers.”

Never thought I would live to see the day when an American would be called an enemy for disagreeing with another American….is this what you Americans really want?

That is NOT the nation I took an oath to protect.

When Is Time To Exit?

For the last two decades we have been fighting wars all over the place and I have asked to what end? What are the goals intended so that we can look for the exit and bring our troops home?

A good question to ask is…what are we fighting for?

In war there is nothing more important than understanding the political objective or objectives of the combatants involved. This is the why of the war; the reasons the warring states and insurrectionist groups such as Islamic State spill blood and spend treasure. Sometimes the objective is masked by religious or ideological terms, but there is always some underlying political concern. States go war to get something they want or to preserve what they have. Carl von Clausewitz provides the keystone for analysis of all wars by reminding us that “war can be of two kinds, in the sense that either the objective is to overthrow the enemy [an unlimited aim]—to render him politically helpless or militarily impotent, thus forcing him to sign whatever peace we please; or merely to occupy some of his frontier-districts [a limited aim] so that we can annex them or use them for bargaining at the peace negotiations.” The political aim provides the basis for understanding the nature of the war being fought, something Clausewitz insists is the job of both the military and political leaders, and to which he provides a related admonition: “No one starts a war—or rather, no one in his senses should do so—without first being clear in his mind what he intends to achieve by that war and how he intends to conduct it.” The last part of the passage demonstrates a key reason why understanding the political objective is so important. Everything else flows from this: “The political object—the original motive for the war—will thus determine both the military objective to be reached and the amount of effort it requires.”

https://mwi.usma.edu/fighting-political-aim-war-american-civil-military-divide/

Sadly our wars today have no rhyme or reason….Sadly our wars these days seem to have NO exit strategy…they began and we fight them endlessly at a waste of time, money and people.

How did it come to this with the US and war?

For the past 20 years, U.S. foreign policy has been marked by constant lies and unjustified killings, from the 1999 bombing of Serbia and the 2003 invasion of Iraq to Libyan regime change in 2011 and our role in the bloody Syrian war since 2012. What explains this unbroken record of deadly folly?

According to Ted Carpenter, author of the new book Gullible Superpower, Washington policymakers have been deceived by foreign con men who claim to adore freedom and democracy. Carpenter has a far more sagacious foreign policy record over the past 30 years than either the White House or the Washington Post editorial page. His latest work captures, in his own words, “the lengthy, depressing record of U.S. support for bogus freedom fighters and democratic activists.”

Idiocy or Perfidy? How We Get Hooked on Foreign Democracy Crusades

When will we exit these wars…and why is it so damn haed to end them?

Ending a military intervention is hard. It’s certainly harder than starting one. Every modern American president has learned this lesson, with President Donald Trump being only the most recent, with his attempted departure from Syria and scrapped exit from Afghanistan. After announcing that he wanted U.S. forces to make way for a Turkish invasion of northern Syria, bipartisan outraged ensued. A common critique was that — setting aside the wisdom of withdrawing U.S. troops from Syria — the shift in policy was impulsive. In other words, there was no clear strategy.

That exit strategies are necessary before committing troops abroad has become an accepted truism among many people who think and write about strategy. It seems only logical to think troops should not be sent to fight wars before knowing how, when, and under what conditions they will be withdrawn. If there is no viable exit strategy in place, the United States could easily repeat the same mistake again, finding itself mired in yet another seemingly endless war with no way out.

When Are Exit Strategies Viable?

An opposing view of the above article …..

The best way to ensure a speedy exit from a war is to have never intervened in the first place. The second-best option is to have an exit strategy. If you have decided to roll the dice in the most complex, destructive, and uncertain activity humans can engage in, one would think having a plan to successfully end that conflict would be more than an afterthought. The past 70 years, in particular, have provided tragically few examples — Vietnam, Afghanistan, and now Syria — of exit strategies actually being contemplated before the war begins.

I disagree. While Kampf makes some good points — he laudably emphasizes the importance of defining political objectives before developing a military strategy to achieve them — his article ultimately contains several fatal mistakes. First, it misunderstands the strategic process. Strategy is vital for every phase of conflict, despite vast uncertainty that limits our ability to know what the future battlefield will look like. Next, after arguing that leaders should wait for the right conditions to emerge before planning withdrawals, Kampf doesn’t define those conditions. What are those conditions, exactly, and is it reasonable to expect them to emerge?

The Lost Art of Exiting a War

To me a clear plan of objectives and when they are met we pull our troops and declare it a success…..declaring a victory these days is not a good idea….war has changed so much since WW2 and Korea…..a success is the best we will be able to achieve.

The time to find the exit is now….the sooner the better…..

Season Of The Protest

As a young man I spent many a days in protests….mostly for an end to the Vietnam War….also many days of fighting off the effects of tear gas…and a few beatings…..but that was then and this is now…..

I know that trying to keep up with the silliness coming from the White House and the Congress and the Media is a full time gig…..but while you were being lulled into boredom the world has erupted in protests….

Iraq

Lebanon

Chile

Haiti

Spain

Hong Kong

Ecuador

And the count goes on…..

Another day, another protest.

On Monday it was Bolivia – angry people clashed with police after the political opposition said it had been cheated in an election won by incumbent President Evo Morales.

Last week, the streets of the Chilean capital Santiago descended into chaos, as demonstrators enraged by a hike in public transport fares looted stores, set a bus alight and prompted the president to declare a state of emergency.

Earlier this month, Ecuador’s leader did the same after violent unrest triggered by the decision to end fuel subsidies that had been in place for decades.

And that was just South America.

Hong Kong has been in turmoil for months, Lebanon’s capital Beirut was at a standstill, parts of Barcelona resembled a battlefield last week and tens of thousands of Britons marched through London at the weekend over Brexit.

Protests have flared around the world in the last few months. Each has had its own trigger, but many of the tactics and underlying frustrations are similar. Governments, economists and ordinary people are taking notice.

Another Congressional “Sit-In”

Closing Thought–24Oct19

I have calling the Congress, both parties, a pack of spineless clowns that would rather perform for the camera than to do the hard work of governing.

I recall a couple of years ago when the Dems lead a sit-in in the House …..and I remember that the Repubs went batcrap crazy….calling this protest a stunt”, it was childish and did nothing to further the cause of liberty.

The year was 2016……(for those that have dementia or just plain ignorant)

Dozens of House Democrats staged a sit-in on the House floor Wednesday in protest of the GOP leadership’s refusal to allow a vote on a gun control measure following the Orlando massacre.

Led by Reps. John Lewis (D-Ga.), the civil rights icon, and John Larson (D-Conn.), more than 40 Democrats walked into the chamber just before noon and pledged to “occupy” the House floor until GOP leadership allowed a vote. In one hour, their numbers more than tripled — even as Republicans recessed the House, turning off C-SPAN cameras and the video feed to the public.

https://www.politico.com/story/2016/06/democrats-stage-sit-in-on-house-floor-to-force-gun-vote-224656

Well guess what?

It is the GOP’s turn to act up and perform for the cameras.

The Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility sits in the basement of the Capitol, and it’s been the site of more than a little drama on Wednesday. More than two dozen House Republicans who had been giving a news conference outside the room stormed into it as Laura Cooper—deputy assistant secretary of defense for Russia, Ukraine, and Eurasia—was due to give testimony in a closed-door hearing. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz said some who entered were “literally … just screaming … saying that the process is wrong.” House Intelligence Chair Adam Schiff reportedly exited the room with Cooper, essentially postponing the hearing.

Politico reports the “standoff” was unresolved “by mid-morning,” with Republicans who had barged in refusing to leave. The Hill reports GOP lawmakers are reportedly upset that only members of the three House panels overseeing the impeachment inquiry are permitted to attend the closed-door hearings and say the interview transcripts should be publicly available to the American people. Politico’s sources say some Republicans carried their cellphones with them into the room, a House rules violation that triggered a sweep of the room for security issues.

Like I keep stating…GAMES.

5 hours of taxpayers time wasted on this gimmick to get on the evening news……

Before we get the usual diatribes……

The GOP is represented in these hearings (45 members of the GOP)…there is NO trial in the House that takes place in the Senate and any evidence gained will be presented there.

The New York Times reports that a quarter of House Republicans, including some of those involved in the sit-in, are committee members allowed to attend the hearings. “They crashed a room where there were a bunch of Republicans getting ready to question a witness,” says Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin. “Their attempt to act like Freedom Riders is really an attack on the committee system in Congress.” The Times notes that the sit-in ended when lawmakers were summoned to the House for a vote.

This was a wasted stunt……

The Adventures Of “Pierre Delecto”

There had been a “lurker” dogging Trump on Twitter….they went by the handle of “Pierre Delecto”….and finally his true identity has been revealed…..

You might know him as mild-mannered Sen. Mitt Romney. But on Twitter, he is Pierre Delecto, fearless defender of … Mitt Romney. After the Utah senator mentioned in an Atlantic profile Sunday that he has a “lurker” Twitter account that he uses to follow journalists and athletes, among others, Ashley Feinberg at Slate did some sleuthing and found the Delecto account, which follows and is followed by numerous Romney family members. Its first follower was Tagg Romney, one of the senator’s sons. The account, created in July 2011, has only posted 10 times, all in response to other tweets. Nine of the posts came this year, and many of them defended Romney against critics. The account is no longer public.

“Jennifer, you need to take a breath,” Delecto wrote after Jennifer Rubin at the Washington Post said his strategy for dealing with President Trump was “verging on spinelessness.” “Maybe you can then acknowledge the people who agree with you in large measure even if not in every measure.” Many of the 257 tweets the account has liked are either pro-Romney remarks or tweets from official Romney accounts, according to Feinberg. McKay Coppins, author of the Romney profile, tweeted Sunday night that he asked Romney about the Delecto account and his response was “C’est moi.” The New York Times notes that it’s not clear what the name “Pierre Delecto” could be a reference to.

If Mitt or any other spineless Repub has something to say about Trump or his policies then come forward and speak like the person that they were elected to be.

Mitt working in the shadows…what is he afraid of?  He is from Utah and Trump is NOT popular in Utah…his Senate seat is pretty comfortable as long as he wants it….so of what is he afraid that he must snipe from the shadows?

This is why I call most politicians cowards….they will attack from the shadows but shy away from the light….that by definition is a COWARD.

The conserv site The Bulwark has an opinion on Delecto as well…..

All this time, I thought that Congress was devoid of politicians who represent the views of my fellow lonely and disenfranchised Salon conservatives. After a painful period of hopefulness I had determined that it was in fact too much to ask for a single senator who was both skeptical of the federal government behemoth and sentient enough to see that the president is a pathological liar who should not be trusted to run a down-market QVC steak brand, much less the White House.

But it turns out that this senator was right in front of me all along. Lurking. Reading my hot fire twitter takes. Sometimes you look everywhere for love and it’s right there staring you in the face.

Yes, that man is Senator Pierre Delecto. The delightful Pete. Never Trump stalwart. Conservative Globalist. The senator I’ve been dreaming for . . . but more in déguiser than reality. The Gene Parmesan of the world’s greatest deliberative body.

What Would Delecto Do?

Russia And Turkey And Syria

More events and more news from the Middle East…..

US troops are leaving Syria in the 5 days ultimatum……and Trump gives Turkey new sanctions…..Trump has told Turkey that he would destroy their economy if he was not playing nice…..all that was Bullsh*t!

Russia and Turkey have come to an agreement….after a couple of hours of meetings…..(read that again……Russia and Turkey…not the US)

While President Trump was very determined to insist that anything good happening in Syria was “created by us, the United States, and nobody else,” the evidence is pointing to substantial improvements in the regional situation coming more or less directly out of the new Russia-Turkey ceasefire deal.

In the hours after the Russia deal was signed, Turkey announced that they will push no further into Syrian territory. There would indeed be no need to, since Russia and Syria are going to expel Kurdish SDF forces from the area for them.

The US had tried to claim that all the SDF were already out of the region before the US ceasefire ended. Turkey disputed this and Russia seems to agree, promising to get them out in the 150 hour deal they reached. Russian DM Sergey Shogiu moved on to talk with the SDF head almost immediately after the announcement.

Trump is eager to spin the Turkish ceasefire as his accomplishment, even though Russia seems to be the one dotting all the is and crossing all the ts on Turkey’s demands.

The big difference seems to be Russia’s willingness to engage with Turkey on an equal footing about what could be offered, including joint patrols, as opposed to just unilaterally threatening to destroy their economy if things don’t work out.

(antiwar.com)

In case anyone is interested in the deal that Russia made with Turkey….

Below is the memorandum of understanding reached by the two countries, provided to Al Jazeera by the Turkish foreign ministry.

“President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin agreed on the following points:

1. The two sides reiterate their commitment to the preservation of the political unity and territorial integrity of Syria and the protection of national security of Turkey.

Then Homeboy Trump takes credit for the deal…..

And then Turkey is rewarded for their deal with the Russians….sanctions lifted……

President Trump has announced that he is lifting all sanctions against Turkey for the time being, citing a “permanent” ceasefire between Turkey and the Kurds and the withdrawal of Kurds from the Turkish-occupied safe zone.

Trump credited the US for getting the Kurds out of the safe zone, and for everything else, conspicuously not mentioning the Russian deal with Turkey which was reached only the day before, and came after pointed US warnings to the Kurds not to talk with Russia.

Trump appeared to be quite conscious that this was a factor, declaring “this was an outcome created by us, the United States, and nobody else.” That’s his position, but it’s unlikely many will see it that way.

Trump said this validated his troop withdrawal from Syria, while also insisting that US troops are going to remain in Syria to protect oil reserves that were taken by the US during the war.

Trump also shrugged off his own declaration of a permanent ceasefire, saying “permanent” doesn’t mean much in that region. He also threatened new sanctions against Turkey if “something happens that we are not happy with.”

Amusing that Russia’s name did not come up….go figure…..

Turkey got everything it ever wanted……sanctions lifted, Kurds moved out of their homes, the door left open for more killings, US gone from the region, I am sure I missed something…..
