Closing Thought–08Oct19

Finally……some rain…3 hours of steady rain and lower temps by about 10 degrees….makes it almost bearable…..

I am always amazed at the lengths some ‘Christians” will go to to abuse their fellow man/woman….the latest is no surprise nowadays…..

Homeless people drawn in by promises of food and a place to stay got something a little different: stints of forced labor in which they were made to beg for money for up to nine hours a day, six days a week. That was just one of the allegations mentioned in a federal grand-jury indictment unsealed Tuesday that says a dozen leaders of the nondenominational Imperial Valley Ministries, based in California, not only forced their victims to panhandle, but also to hand over their welfare benefits, CNN reports. It’s “an appalling abuse of power by church officials who preyed on vulnerable homeless people with promises of a warm bed and meals,” US Attorney Robert Brewer says in a Justice Department release. “These victims were held captive, stripped of their humble financial means, their identification, their freedom, and their dignity.”

The indictment details the accusations against the leaders of the ministry, which runs churches and group homes in the US and Mexico. Among them: that leaders brought their victims to these group homes and then locked them in (at some locations, the windows were said to be nailed shut, in addition to deadbolts on the door); took away the victims’ driver’s licenses, passports, and other forms of ID; and forced them to beg and give up their welfare benefits “for the financial benefit of the church leaders.” All identified victims are now free. The defendants, who were arrested in San Diego and El Centro, Calif., as well as in Brownsville, Texas, will face charges of forced labor, conspiracy, benefits fraud, and document servitude. Arraignments started Tuesday

Stories like this one just reinforces my objections to so-called ‘Christians’……

I believe it was Gandhi that stated…”Christianity is a marvelous concept….a shame that it has never been attempted”  (I am sure that my quote is a paraphrase but the point is there).

Be thankful that I am not the judge or on the jury for in my book these people and their ilk should burn……take that anyway you choose).

Trump Threatens Turkey

The news about the US troops withdrawal from Northern Syria has the MSM going batcrap crazy…. Since the surprise announcement from the White House that said U.S. troops will be withdrawing from areas of Kurdish-held northeast Syria to avoid a planned Turkish assault, an onslaught of U.S. politicians spoke out against the decision. Members of Congress from both parties used the same talking points to argue for a continued U.S. presence in northeast Syria. ………

The blow back to the negative news by Trump was more to shut up the critics than anything else….his Twitter message had a couple of things that were disturbing….

As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate, if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey (I’ve done before!). They must, with Europe and others, watch over…

First, “in my great and unmatched wisdom”?  WTF?  Does he believe that he has god-like vision?

Second, his statement about the destruction of the economy of Turkey “(I’ve done it before)”….just when did he do this thing?

All that aside…Trump warned Turkey has taken his threat as lightly as I took his messianic vision…..

Turkish forces have begun their long threatened military offensive against the Syrian Kurds. Starting Monday night, Turkish warplanes began carrying out airstrikes, starting with a Kurdish base in Hasakeh Province.

Syrian state media reported the strike was at al-Malikiyah. It is being presented as part of Turkey unilaterally creating a “safe zone” in northern Syria. The safe zone was originally meant to be a joint US-Turkish effort, but Turkey has been complaining about US reticence.

The White House position now is a bit less clear. On the one hand, officials are saying the US won’t be involved in or support Turkey’s offensive, and that they intend to hand over responsibility to the region to Turkey. On the other hand Trump is threatening to “obliterate” Turkey’s economy over the invasion, cryptically adding (I’ve done it before!) to his Tweet.

Apparently Turkey missed the threatening Tweet from our Beloved Supreme Leader……or maybe they just chuckled and did what they wanted… far…what has Trump’s tough talk accomplished?

This is NOT the first time that the US has turned its back on allies…think Vietnam…..

Our short sighted view of history is fed by the MSM in their corporate-centric reporting.

Afghanistan–18 Years And Counting

Yesterday, 07Oct, our longest war began…..the year was 2001 in case you had forgotten….or lousy at math…..18 years of death and destruction…..

Finally my greatest fear has been realized…that is that we would have people fighting this endless war that were born after the war had begun….and yes we have such a reality….

Pvt. Hunter Nines is about to join a war nearly as old as he is.

The 18-year-old discussed with ABC News his impending combat deployment to Afghanistan — his first with the Army.

“I didn’t have a lot of thoughts on Afghanistan in particular,” said Nines, who was 7 months old when U.S. troops first arrived there. “I honestly just had the notion of I wanted to serve, and wherever that is, that’s where I’ll go.”

Just check out what this war has cost the country…..(or not if you do not care)….

How do our veterans feel about this endless war?

The anniversary is significant not only for marking the beginning of the war on terror, but as a reminder that the United States Armed Forces now has enlistees who were born after the September 11, 2001, attacks.

The Post Register spoke to veterans of the Afghanistan War to learn their views of the war, its place in history and their experiences serving overseas. All of them said they felt the war had lost all purpose long ago. Many of them in separate interviews said the war that began with a clear mission to protect the country from another terrorist attack has been reduced to an aimless mission that costs lives and taxpayer dollars in a futile attempt to win the “hearts and minds” of people who no longer want them there.

Sadly how vets feel about this conflict mean NOTHING to the people or the government……once again I blame the lack of a shared experience about the effects and consequences of war.

This war without end will go on and on…that is until the corporate media says it is time for it to end.

Time to do the military a favor and end this senseless war….

India-Pakistan Situation

The age old conflict between India and Pakistan over the Kashmir region of the Himalayas is getting hotter and hotter….keep in mind that both these countries have a nuclear capability…..that means they both have bombs in case that statement needed clarification.

Is this new edition of the Kashmiri conflict heading these two into a crisis?

Some think it is heading in that direction….

In August, Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan pledged that he would serve as an “ambassador” for the embattled people of Kashmir, who are besieged by close to a million Indian security forces. And on Friday, he did exactly that, using the world’s largest platform—the United Nations General Assembly— to voice their plight.

Khan excoriated Indian prime minister Narendra Modi and called on the world to prevent a potential “bloodbath” in the disputed territory, where for two months over nine hundred thousand Indian security personnel have imposed a curfew on the Muslim-majority populace. Thousands of civilians, along with hundreds of political leaders, have been arrested.

After Khan’s speech on Friday, Kashmiris took great risk to show their gratitude to the Pakistani leader, coming out on to the streets, setting off firecrackers, and calling for freedom from India. One Kashmiri man told Al Jazeera that he “felt solace” when Khan spoke, knowing that Kashmiris “are not alone.”

New Delhi’s annexation and siege of Kashmir will prove to be strategic blunders. Indian officials and the country’s compliant private media falsely claim that there is “normalcy” today in Kashmir. They also say that the region will see even greater development and investment tomorrow.

In case anyone would like to hear the speech to the UN by Khan…then I am here to help..

But in case you do not have the time to watch…let me help out…..Khan basically called for a war over Kashmir…..

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan addressed the United Nations on Sept. 29 and threatened to change that. Mr. Khan took the 15 minutes of speaking time allotted him and went nearly an hour, using the entire speech to speak of “jihad” over Kashmir and rail against his Indian counterpart, Prime Minister Nehendra Modi

“Jihad” is not a word the world wants to hear from a man atop a self-described Islamic republic that owns more than 100 nuclear weapons.

Then there are those that look into the possibility of some stupid setting off a nuke in this conflict and just what would such an act bring about?

The U.S. and other nuclear powers should rapidly stop nuclear proliferation, researchers at Rutgers University said Wednesday as they released a study showing that a nuclear war between India and Pakistan could kill 125 million people instantly before causing global mass starvation.

Published in the journal Science Advances, the new research shows that rapidly growing nuclear stockpiles in India and Pakistan, which are currently in conflict over Kashmir, could release 16 million to 35 million tons of soot, or black carbon, into the atmosphere if the two countries escalated their standoff into nuclear strikes by 2025.

“Such a war would threaten not only the locations where bombs might be targeted but the entire world,” said Alan Robock, co-author of the study and a professor of environmental sciences at Rutgers.

Nothing good will come from the use of nukes…and yet we are still stockpiling these weapons….India and Pakistan need to settle down and find mutual ground to avoid in stupidity.
