How about a little humor to end your day?
After only 10 days as the lead a/hole of the Trump admin….The Mooch is out on his ass…..
Well, that was quick: The Mooch is out. President Trump on Monday decided to remove Anthony Scaramucci from his brand-new post as White House communications director, reports the New York Times. The move reportedly comes at the suggestion of new chief of staff John Kelly, who is in his first day on the job. He “is already changing the culture here,” one White House aide tells Politico in the wake of the Scaramucci shift.
Scaramucci already has submitted his resignation, reports ABC News. It wasn’t immediately clear whether he would shift into a different position at the White House or leave entirely. Nor was it clear who would replace him. Scaramucci didn’t even last two weeks in the position, though he made an immediate impression with, among other things, a profanity-laced rant against rivals such as former chief of staff Reince Priebus.
Dammit! I had 30 days in the pool!
More news later…….

What is your mouth tongue?
We all speak English as our mouth tongue….but what is the next “tongue” in the state where you live…the second language if you will?
You might be surprised at the answers……
It’s probably not surprising that, once you take English out of the equation, Spanish is the most widely spoken language in the United States. But what if you also remove Spanish from the options? 24/7 Wall St. ventures into each state to see which other foreign language ranks highest, with German taking the top spot overall when all states are taken into account. Here, 10 states and their most prevalent foreign tongue:
- Alabama: Vietnamese
- Arizona: Navajo
- California: Tagalog
- Connecticut: Polish
- Florida: French Creole
- Idaho: Arabic
- Massachusetts: Portuguese
- Montana: German
- New York: Chinese
- Wisconsin: Hmong
Check out which foreign language dominates in your state here.
Idaho is surprising…….as well as Florida…..I figured my state would be Vietnamese since so many settled here in the late 70’s….but Tagalog for California took me by surprise.
Did you find any surprises?
Day is done…..nap time has begun…..I shall see you guys later…..peace out…..chuq
Many years ago I started a blog to write about my state and my region, Gulf South Free Press,….it got to be a bit much trying to keep up with my primary blog, In Saner Thought, my food blog, Food Nazi and my regional blog so I let it go dormant for awhile.
And now I have decide to resurrect GSFP but I will change the format a bit….it will be a Op-Ed blog….I will give my opinions on a wide array of subjects from politics to society….I bill myself as “an opinionated SOB” so I might as well take advantage of that, right?
If you would be interested then the link below will get you there……
There will be no rigid schedule for posting…..For now it will not be a daily post but rather a weekly and will expand from there if the participation is there.
I hope that my regulars here on IST will check it out and participate in the discussion/debate…
It will be good to see GSFP return from the dust bin.
Thanx for your time. chuq
I am always fascinated by World War One…..and just how barbaric the world had become….
One Hundred years ago today, 31July1917, one of the bloodiest battles of WW1 began……the battle of Passchendaele was being fought in West Flanders, Belgium.
But then while this battle was bloody there were other such battles throughout the Great War…..
World War I will be remembered as one of the bloodiest wars in human history. Millions of soldiers died on both sides, and whole generations of young men were wiped out. Armies were bogged down in impenetrable trenches, resulting in thousands dying in futile assaults against fortified enemies. The war also introduced new and terrible weapons, such as the machine gun, which made the war even more horrific and bloody. There are many terrible battles, but this is a list of the worst.

It is almost unbelievable the amount of deaths during World War One…Passchendaele alone ran almost 1 million deaths and that was just one battle during the War…..a long and bloody war.
The US is the most powerful country in the world when it comes to weapons and military might.
Force is used more often than any other technique to move the country’s agenda forward…..but there is a sector that the US uses sparingly….Trade.
China on the other hand has learned to use trade as a weapon…..
China denies mixing business with politics, yet it has long used trade to punish countries that refuse to toe its line. China’s recent heavy-handed economic sanctioning of South Korea, in response to that country’s decision to deploy the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) anti-missile system, was just the latest example of the Chinese authorities’ use of trade as a political weapon.
China’s government has encouraged and then exploited states’ economic reliance on it to compel their support for its foreign-policy objectives. Its economic punishments range from restricting imports or informally boycotting goods from a targeted country to halting strategic exports (such as rare-earth minerals) and encouraging domestic protests against specific foreign businesses. Other tools include suspending tourist travel and blocking fishing access. All are used carefully to avoid disruption that could harm China’s own business interests.

Maybe the US should take a page from the Chinese playbook…..learn to use our trade as a weapon.
This could go a long way of making the promise of more jobs come true….plus could minimize the use of military force….an aspect that is becoming almost too expensive to continue.
I realize that there are some that will refute stuff about Trump….they will come to his rescue whenever something negative is written or uttered.
But put hero worship aside and one will see clearly the creeping authoritarianism 0f the Trump admin……
Below is a long piece but it does track all the moves made by the Trump admin….bears reading in full…..
Is Donald Trump a threat to democracy? From his executive orders targeting immigrants to his personal attacks on federal judges and his demonization of the media as the “enemy of the American people,” the 45th president’s actions and behavior have alarmed political observers of allstripes. Below is a running timeline (in reverse chronological order) tracking Trump’s numerous displays of authoritarian tendencies, beginning from the day he was sworn in. Check back regularly for updates.

I am not positive that American will be great again under this administration……so far everything done has been for the benefit of the Trump empire and not this country.
