Why Your Third-Party Vote Is Not Wasted

The key word in the title is N-O-T!

As I predicted I have been hit with a bit of a BS thing when people learn that I am leaning for an alternative candidate….in my case it is Dr. Jill Stein of the Green Party.

I have been getting the usual cowardly predictions of doom and gloom if I vote that way….or that I am crazy for not following the sheep and voting for one of the worthless candidates we have this time.  I vote for issues and principles…I care NOTHING for rhetoric.

First let me say…BITE ME!  It is my vote and I will give it to whoever I want.  Plus I refuse to let some nose picking ass scratcher dictate to me when it comes to voting.

If Americans truly cared about their country then they would research what is best before voting….but they had rather let some mental midget like Alex Jones or a handful of MSM pundits tell them where to place their vote.

It was in George Washington’s Farewell Address that he warned political parties would be “potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people, and to usurp for themselves the reins of government.”

This is exactly what’s happened as both parties serve moneyed interests rather than the will and the common good of the American people.

According to Pew Research, in the 2000 Presidential election cycle, 29 percent of voters were Independent. Gallup’s most recent poll brings that percentage up to a stunning 42 percent, compared to 26 percent Republicans and 29 percent Democrats.

If the voter truly wanted to “Make America Great Again” then they would spend more time learning about the candidates and less time bending over for their masters.  They could see the flaws and see the weaknesses….but sadly they cannot see past some vague message that has nothing to do with their governing style.

For me issues are far more important than the platitudes I am giving by the major candidates….I do NOT fall for slogans……I want to see answers to the important questions of our time…..so far I got NOTHING from the 2 “biggies”…

You vote for the idiots….I will vote for solutions…..whether they win or not.

  1. As a point in history: Ralph Nader’s “solution” turned out, by default, to be the Supreme Court dominated by Bush family nominees. Looks to me like he was part of the problem.
I’m not opposed to third parties, but as I’ve been arguing, they need to build from the grassroots up. And we need to abolish the Electoral College along the way, so that all votes in a national election are included in the final tally, not just the ones that carry a state’s entire Electoral College weight.

    1. Nader was a media whore..I did not vote for him then and never now….I agree with the “college” point….they time for that to go away is long past…..

    2. I concur with your thinking. Also, I have done my homework. While I do not agree with HRC on various points, I could say the same about President Obama, Bush, Clinton, etc.

A lot of allegations against HRC are based on misinformation. I am old enough to remember the “Clinton Chronicles” which were videos widely disseminated by Rev. Jerry Falwell. Here the couple were accused of murder, dealing in drugs etc.

Yes, she does act in a way that is politically adventitious. Guess what? She is a politician. Yes, she did defend her cheating husband. Join the real world where too many women have found themselves in this difficult position..

Then picture anyone having every move scrutinized, at a level that borders on stalking while having numerous investigations v you conducted by opposing party, few could survive this intact.(I couldn’t.)

I also recall that when she ran for a second term as a US Senator, she was voted back in by a wide majority of voters. When she left her post as Secretary of State she had a 69% approval rating.

After a significant period of time when HRC was serving as the U.S. NY Senator, the conservative reporter, Mark Halperin has told the story of how he was looking for any negative feedback by her fellow republican senators but all he was able to uncover were positive comments regarding her performance.

I hope that anyone who votes, takes time to do research. I respect any one having taken this step, in their voting green or for the Libertarian Party.

Please allow for the possibility that others who have done their homework, may arrive at a different conclusion.

      1. Yes. we know that argument. It just doesn’t hold in our view. And yes, from my perspective, both the 2000 and 2004 elections were stolen.

      1. Oh, I was wondering why it didn’t show up. I thought that having the links included it may be moderated but not Spam. Thanks for digging it out of your Spam folder.

        Cheers!

      2. You are welcome….this happens so I check the folder often to be sure that regulars are not sent there….chuq

  2. Reblogged this on saywhatumean2say and commented:
I will NOT fall for slogans….whether they win or not”. I will NOT vote for a candidate merely because my dislike for one candidate overshadows my dislike for another candidate.

I will NOT for the “Party Line” if I do NOT agree with it. I believe a vote for an alternate candidate, WINS, whether they win or not because major numbers for a portion indicates dissatisfaction with the whole.

I too am voting “Green”. ~~dru~~

  3. This post might be more persuasive if it discussed things like why U think voting for 3rd in Trump/Clinton/Stein will work out better than voting for 3rd in Bush/Gore/Nader did. I care about issues and principles too, but I also try to learn from history (tragedy and farce, with a few moments when somebody does something good that sticks).

    1. If you also share the desire then why would a vote for Trump or Clinton benefit this country?

The system we have is not conducive to democracy…..but my choice is just that mine……Green issues are the issues that I care about…nothing from Dems or Conservs interest me….all I ask is for someone to consider a change if they like what they see or hear.

      1. There are many Dems who have taken green stands and been endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters. I would rather support a somewhat green Dem who could get elected than a greener Green who could not. Flawed tho she and it are, Clinton and her party are much closer to my own views on the environment (and gender/guns/jobs/taxes/…) than Trump and his party.

      2. Then there is where your vote should go…..my interests in case you have not seen them is foreign policy…the Greens have a mo better than Clinton or Trump…it is not about winning for me…it is about standing by my principles…for neither candidate will come thru with their promises…it takes a Congress to be successful….ours sucks on all issues.

  4. I see u found smeggy… he is the reason I get trolled…gggrrrrrr
