It Is Always About The Money

Life is strange…but there is one constant…..the pursuit of money……we start wars because of it…..we run for office to gain access to it…..we write books in search of fame and fortune……and that is where I pick up with the news….

A former Navy SEAL who wrote about taking part in the mission that killed Osama bin Laden will have to pay all current and future profits from the book—and possible movie rights—to the government, the AP reports. It’s an amount already exceeding $6.6 million. In addition, Matt Bissonnette, who wrote No Easy Day under a pseudonym in 2012, will have to pay the government $1.3 million to cover its legal fees, according to ABC News. Bissonnette was in trouble for violating non-disclosure agreements he signed when he was a Navy SEAL and not clearing the book with the Defense Department before publishing it. Bissonnette signed the settlement Friday.

As part of the settlement, Bissonnette agreed to make a formal apology. “I acted on the advice of my former attorney, but I now fully recognize that his advice was wrong,” NPR quotes Bissonnette as saying. “It was a serious error that I urge others not to repeat.” In return, the government dismissed other claims against Bissonnette. It also stated what happened “does not discredit Mr. Bissonnette’s military service.” Bissonnette has four years to pay off most of the more than $6.6 million he currently owes the government. But he only has 30 days to pay the government $100,000 he made giving presentations on his experiences.

This douche broke protocol and gets a slap on the wrist……

There are some things that are done by the military that the public just does not need to know… of this situation are apparently still classified…..if that is the case then this is treason and should be punished accordingly.

When I left the military I had to sign the same document….apparently it is not as important as it was in my day….for it was a mandatory jail time and a fine…….

Apparently the lure of lots of cash will make some do anything to achieve it….

I do NOT care who this person is or what he says he has done………This dick should be in prison and ALL cash confiscated.

Clinton and Syria

According to most pundits Clinton will win this election in a landslide…..(God help us)…..if true Clinton’s biggest problem will be….what to do with Syria……does she have a plan?

The American Conservative has a couple of good pieces about Clinton and Syria…….and her possible plan/s………

In a seemingly full-throated promise to voters in Scranton, Pa. on Monday, Hillary Clinton said adding “American ground troops” in the war against ISIS in Syria “is off the table.”

But every message coming from her surrogates in the media and in the Washington defense establishment has been that she will “lean in” harder in Syria, and whether you want to call it “added ground troops” or something else, everyone in her orbit is calling for expanded U.S. intervention—including personnel and firepower—in the region, even at the risk of confrontation with Russia.

She may go full-throat into Syria to appease her M-IC handlers……in true neocon fashion…..

Kelley Vlahos reminds us why Clinton is likely to be very hawkish as president:

But every message coming from her surrogates in the media and in the Washington defense establishment has been that she will “lean in” harder in Syria, and whether you want to call it “added ground troops” or something else, everyone in her orbit is calling for expanded U.S. intervention—including personnel and firepower—in the region, even at the risk of confrontation with Russia.

We have good reason to believe this because Clinton and her supporters repeatedly keep saying that this is the kind of foreign policy her administration will have. Clinton has made no secret of her support for “no-fly” and safe zones in Syria, and she has chosen a running mate who shares her views on these issues. While Democrats overall might be divided on Syria policy, the Democratic ticket is not: both nominees favor a more aggressive, militarized U.S. role in the Syrian conflict. That is the policy a Clinton administration is very likely to start implementing next year if, as seems likely, she prevails in the fall. A vote for Clinton is almost certainly a vote for an expanded war in Syria, and the public needs to understand that this is what we will get by entrusting her with the presidency.

Something the military has to look forward to…..a bigger and wider footprint for the US troops…..

A Clinton win will be bad for the country but a windfall of profits for the M-IC………

The voters and the people of this country deserves better than a continuous war for a generation…..but will we step up and tell the candidate that this all MUST stop?  (He asked knowing full well the answer is NO!)

Always With Regrets

I listen to Trump speeches more than my Right winger counterparts…I would wager….most of them see something from one of the toady sites like Breibart or Infowars or Drudge or other such low info sites.  They read something there then they regurgitate it ad nauseum…..

But Mr. Trump has issued a regret for some of his words during a recent speech…..

In a development that may have had some onlookers scanning the sky for flying pigs, Donald Trump expressed regret Thursday night for things he has said. “Sometimes in the heat of debate, and speaking on a multitude of issues, you don’t choose the right words or you say the wrong thing. I have done that,” he told a rally in Charlotte, NC, per the AP. “And believe it or not, I regret it. I do regret it, particularly where it may have caused personal pain. Too much is at stake for us to be consumed with these issues,” he said, reading from a teleprompter. He promised that he would always tell the truth—and called on Hillary Clinton to apologize for “one lie after another.”

The speech was the first since Trump’s campaign shake-up and was a stunning turnaround after more than a year of constant feuds, reports the Washington Post. Clinton’s campaign called on Trump to be more specific about his regrets. Trump “literally started his campaign by insulting people,” spokeswoman Christina Reynolds said in a statement. “He has continued to do so through each of the 428 days from then until now, without shame or regret. We learned tonight that his speechwriter and teleprompter knows he has much for which he should apologize.”

I am glad to see that he is trying to change direction in these closing days of the campaign….however, I still have no idea what he regrets other than some words……or even which words……

As long he is issuing regrets maybe he should take the time to issue one to one of his staunch supporters…..

A man who says he is a Donald Trump supporter was escorted out of the Republican nominee’s rally in Charlotte, N.C., on Thursday and said he believes he was racially profiled.

Jake Anantha, the 18-year-old from Charlotte, identified himself as half-Indian, according to CNN. He said he was approached at Thursday’s rally in Charlotte by a member of Trump’s security who insisted Anantha was a protestor who had disrupted previous rallies.

“I told him I’ve never been to another rally in my life,” Anantha said. “I’m a huge Trump supporter. I would never protest against Trump.”

I was going to hold on to this story for a couple of days to see if the nose picking ass scratching crowd would address this….why bother……we know they will NEVER admit he is f*cking up.

Mr. Trump lost a staunch young supporter that could have helped his brain dead campaign…..but nope….he had brown skin…he had to GO!

Is he truly regretful or is it just political advantageous?

There Is “Your Dictator” And Then There Is “Ours”

Ever noticed the the US seems to have blinders on when it comes to some dictators?  That is until they are NO longer needed.  Just look at Noriega, Saddam, Mubarak….these men were perfectly fine as long as they were useful….and then we dropped the hammer on them…..turning them from “good guy” to “evil dictators”…..we have a long history of backing the wrong dudes.

As long as these strongmen play ball with the US and its corporations then they are free to do as they please….but as soon as they run afoul of the corporate structure then they must go.  Saddam is a good example….he was a fine “ally” until he nationalized the oil industry and cut out the massive profits for oil companies and then he had to go…..and he finally did.

It is fascinating how some are dictators and others we will tolerate their abuses…….

Sometimes it seems that if not for double standards, Official Washington would have no standards at all – especially when it comes to outrage against some “strongmen” and excuses for others, as Lawrence Davidson describes.

The United States has been, and continues to be, selective about which foreign strongmen it does and does not support. Among the latter, there have been Saddam Hussein in Iraq, Bashar al-Assad of Syria, Muammar Gaddafi of Libya, the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in Iran, Hugo Chavez in Venezuela (who was not as autocratic as publicly portrayed), Fidel Castro in Cuba, and Vladimir Putin in Russia. These are just a few of those recent rulers who have drawn the wrath of the “democratic” exemplars in Washington. That wrath often includes economic strangulation, CIA plots and even invasion.

In the meantime, another group of autocrats is well tolerated by the U.S. Among this group are Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, Egypt’s General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and various European rightwing politicos such as Viktor Orban of Hungary. Each of these strongmen shows little tolerance for dissent and a ready willingness to exploit racially tinged nationalism.

Who will be the next strongman to feel the wrath of a nation like the US?

Round Up Those Muslims

It is Monday and I return to my normal posting schedule….who shall we piss off today?

I do so enjoy throwing a little history at those toads on the Right….a subject that they refuse to acknowledge….they are usually way too busy hating someone to even consider a historical perspective……

You would think that this post will be about the mindless dribble uttered by GOP nominee for president, Donald J. Trump, right?

As usual the nose picking ass scratching pinheads would be not only mistaken…… but dead wrong.

Mr. Trump is not regurgitating something new….oh no… was a plan back in the good old days of the GOP’s God like creature, Ronald Reagan…..

In the ’80s, fear of terror led the government to consider something far more extreme than Donald Trump’s ban.

In the early morning hours of January 26, 1987, federal agents across Los Angeles charged into the homes of seven men and one woman and led them away in handcuffs. More than 100 law enforcement officers—city, state and federal—were involved. “War on Terrorism Hits LA,” read the Los Angeles Herald-Examiner.

The defendants were all pro-Palestinian activists, but it wasn’t clear what they’d been arrested for. Soon the government conceded it would not introduce criminal charges, instead seeking to deport the group by alleging material support to a communist organization—an ancient Red Scare statute that would soon be declared unconstitutional. The case quickly became a mess, and in the end, 20 years of legal wrangling would pass before a judge would call the case “an embarrassment to the rule of law.” But in the first days of the defense, the lawyers for the men who would become known as the LA Eight were turning over a greater puzzle: why their clients had been targeted in the first place.

To me it is humorous to listen to so-called “establishment” Repubs condemn Trump for what he has said about banning Muslims or deporting them….

This is NOTHING new for the GOP….and Trump’s proposal is pale in comparison to the Reagan plan…..

Amusing how soon the forget or should I say TRY to forget their stupidity of the past.  But maybe if we had taken Reagan’s plan to heart we would not be having all these problems today. (wink wink)
