Is It Time From A Change?

This election, the 2016 election, has brought up many questions….one being…… are the two parties really representing the people of this nation?

And what about all those “independents”?  This is a con job…there are very few independents most can accurately be called centrist….but independent is a lie!  (More to come before the election on this faux issue)

With all the battles going on within the two parties could it be time for a new party to arise from the ashes of 2016?  Especially with the Democratic Party….there is deep division within the ranks….

Despite a decisive victory Tuesday providing further confirmation of her likely nomination, in many respects Hillary Clinton emerges from the New York primary more damaged, her party more divided, than she entered it. What came to be called The Battle of New York has served only to further expose what millions of people in the […]

With this premise I agree….as a matter of fact I have been saying this since 2010 when the Dems imploded and allowed the GOP to gain control where they should not have control….

I was thinking that in 1912 TR established the Bull Moose Party and the platform is one that could be useful today……

Teddy Roosevelt and the Progressive Party in 1912  gave Americans “A New Nationalism” and their platform was as follows….

In the social sphere the platform called for

  • A National Health Service to include all existing government medical agencies.
  • Social insurance,  to provide for the elderly, the unemployed, and the disabled.
  • Limited injunctions in strikes.
  • Farm relief.
  • Worker’s compensation for work-related injuries.
  • An inheritance tax.
  • A Constitutional amendment to allow a Federal income tax.

The political reforms proposed included

  • Women’s suffrage.
  • Direct election of Senators.
  • Primary elections  for state and federal nominations.

The platform also urged states to adopt measures for “direct democracy”, including:

  • The recall election (citizens may remove an elected official before the end of his term).
  • The referendum (citizens may decide on a law by popular vote).
  • The initiative (citizens may propose a law by petition and enact it by popular vote).
  • Judicial recall (when a court declares a law unconstitutional, the citizens may override that ruling by popular vote).

Some parts we have settled….others are still not used or employed….we could do better…..

However, the main theme of the platform was an attack on the domination of politics by business interests, which allegedly controlled both established parties. The platform asserted that

To destroy this invisible Government, to dissolve the unholy alliance between corrupt business and corrupt politics is the first task of the statesmanship of the day.

To that end, the platform called for

  • Strict limits and disclosure requirements on political campaign contributions.
  • Registration of lobbyists.
  • Recording and publication of Congressional committee proceedings.

Teddy was shrewd….he was ahead of his time…….sadly we have few that are that shrewd these days…..we have cowards and reformers that best propose reactionary crap as policy.

I even proposed a new Bull Moose Party here on IST back in 2010…….

The 2010 mid term elections have shown that the American people are ready for some change in the way that governing is done by our representatives…unfortunately we have little choice on who d…

I still believe that the US is primed for a new party….a Bull Moose Party…..a party that is truly of the people and not of Wall Street….Sander supporters must become a Tea Party of the Left. Bernie, run 3rd-Party….and A Bull Moose Party would be a good place to start this thing.

The political revolution has begun….do you have the ‘nads to continue to the end?

Can you hear me NOW!?

  1. It has become kind of ordinary with each passing election now to hear the words, “It is time for change.” Of course it is time for change because that’s what elections are about. Even if the same people get elected again and again it represents a change because each election is representative of a “New” time period which will definitely change somewhat from the one that went before. I think the rather well-canned political term, “It is time for change” is more of a universal affirmative that most people desire to hear and that most candidates want voters to believe they can be the effectors for. It’s a great technical tactic point but is basically meaningless in today’s paradigm.

    1. I agree if you are talking about change….for the voter does not want change…I have said all this before….a little too tired to keep repeating myself….none of them want change they want some reactionary bullshit that they call change.

      1. I am getting to the point that I don’t care much anymore what the “Voter” does because they are under-informs for the most part anyway .. aren’t they?

  2. I agree that the platform is better than what we have today: I think I wouldn’t register lobbyists, though. I’d just shoot them…. I mean, why should that be allowed at all? Makes no sense. But, then, very little of any government makes sense, in reality.

Yet another political party seems, to me, like deciding, once again, to beat the poor dead horse…. The solution isn’t fixing the government; the only answer that will ever really work is to get rid of it, and start over, with a new paradigm altogether…. In the corporate world we now have, only if the 99% killed off the oligarchy would things really have a chance to change. But, 99% of the 99% couldn’t think their way out of their own house if somebody moved the door, so, the odds on that are pretty slim….Hell, that same 99% of the 99% don’t even realize they’re essentially slaves to their corporate masters..

Frankly, I can’t see ANYTHING that will work to ‘fix’ the way things are, other than for everyone to start taking responsibility for themselves, and that just isn’t going to happen, for those in the 1% currently have exactly what they want…. why should they change? Plus, with the rules set up to favor assholes & predators, that entire segment of the total is happy as a pig in mud, for they can lie, cheat, and steal to their heart’s content, & always win….

At this point, all we can do is to be responsible for our own lives, our own virtue, and our own safety and security. Nobody in government is going to do anything but try to take that away from you, while they are also trying to talk you into buying into their bullshit products, and bullshit beliefs in gods, and bullshit need for a moral proctor to watch over us all….

Fuck ’em all; I’m hunkering down, and woe betide the ignorant mundane, or avaricious asininny, or faceless mrymidon who dares cross into my world without first shining up their soul, for in my world, there are rules of behavior…. and those rules give no countenance to assholes who think they should have the right to tell me how to live my life, or to try to bullshit me for profit.

God I am so sick of predator humans, and those who are too stupid to see how their lives are limited beyond belief!

Hmm… guess I went off the rails a bit. Oh, well…. I’m not retracting any of it….As we’re wont to say on the street, fuck ’em if they can’t take a joke….

    gigoid, the dubious

PS… Maybe I should stop commenting on politics; it drives me crazy with its insanity….

  3. You are right, it is time for a change and a 3rd party is certainly the way we should go. What it will require though is a “revolution” by the 99% as Bernie would say. Whether you like him or not, he has struck a cord with the young, our future and to me that is a good thing. In addition, term limits would go a long way to removing these these old codgers from office that spend their entire lives sitting in the same seat. As with most things in this country, just because things have been one way for a very long time does not mean they have to stay that way and our two party system is a great example. I’m ready for real change not just lip service. It’s time to move forward instead of backwards as we seem to be doing. Great post.

    1. Thanx Dom I appreciate the kind words…a few of us tried back in 2010 but we had very limited success….maybe this time eyes will be open. chuq

You’ve heard of Teddy Roosevelt’s Bull Moose Party. But what did it actually stand for? Allow Loboter to illuminate. In a day when voters are yearning for real change, Teddy is hard to beat Teddy.

Really there is only a one party system, as Vonnegut would say; THE RICH. It is just divided into two groups; the Rich Republicans and the Rich Democrats! No one else counts and no one else is represented.
