 Lawrence Of Arabia Revisited

Back a long time ago I went to the movies and saw Lawrence Of Arabia….I was already interested in history but this made the desire to learn more that much more intense.

After university I went to work in the Middle East and found that there was not an Arab alive that saw his person in a heroic light……if anything, to them, he was a coward and a liar two things that Arabs hate…..after learning more about Lawrence I cannot watch the movie without feeling some sort kinship with the Arabs……

Now as in then, it’s not that the West wants to save the Middle East – it’s that the West wants the Middle East.

It might be true that The West wants the Middle East and if you are paying attention to the migrant situation in the EU and The U.S. I think it is easy enough to understand they are getting exactly what they want — and then some. In fact if the migrant situation does not abate I believe the “West” will BECOME the Mid East!

      1. I think if they get a taste of The American or EU Welfare States they won’t have the slightest inclination to return to where they came from and if I were them quite frankly neither would I.

      2. I think they had rather see their homes again and free stuff is not their largest interests….not everybody is looking to game the system….personally family and home mean more to me than some free stuff…..and I might wager that many would agree with me….

      3. I can understand that family and home mean more to you than some free stuff but then again you are not a refugee now are you? Maybe the homes they have to return to aren’t worth returning to. And if free stuff is not their largest interest then all they have to do is to refuse the free stuff and figure out how to assimilate and work for a living — but then again assimilation is the farthest thing from their minds, isn’t it?

      4. Nope I am not…but I do know the Arab mind and home and family mean more than anything….they had rather be in their homes that is if they still had one….assimilation? you mean like the Italians, Irish Chinese, Germans, Nordics and Vietnamese…none of them assimilated well at first….

      9. The Bible is full of violence too… in fact it actually becomes funny to read sometimes …I do know the old Testament kids were in favor of hallucinogenic drugs because there are so many stories in the Old Testament of errant kids going out and getting themselves stoned. LOL

      10. It would be laughable if there were not so many that took it literally…..just to let you know….the word jihad is not mentioned in the Quran at all….as far as I know….but th4en I am not an expert….I guess we need to consult one to be sure…..

Those are translations like the Biblical ones you have…..jihad is in parentheses means added to…..and those translations are not Arabic they are southern Asia and Afghan …but I see where you are going….so fine I stand corrected…I will not try to correct any Christian translations in the future….

      13. People have been “Correcting” Christian translations of everything for centuries and that is why we have so damned many “Versions” of the Bible and everything else. I wish “Experts” could refrain from the temptation to “Translate” everything. I think we would all be a lot better off and there would be a lot less confusion in the world. I detest the word, “Expert” because a lot of the time most of them don’t have a clue and all they can do is argue among themselves about who is right and who is wrong.

      14. alright then try this one out — and I have to add that everytime I watch one of those videos showing a radical in the act of beheading somebody the radical says “Jahada” at least a hundred times in his little speech he makes before the knife comes down. So the word might not be in the book as such but it sure has been given a different meaning on the world stage.

      17. Another translation site…..find a Quran in Arabic and look for jihad….never mind…..I am sure there are about 100 sites that have this type of “info”…..all I can say is they are not accurate…..but it does not matter for few want to know and that is that….

      20. Sorry forgot to include….Hadith is a collection which many Muslims do not accept as accurate…..just like the Bible passages…but hey if you want to lump all together that is your choice….I refuse to lump all Christians as one….but that is me….

  3. The book, as books go, was so-so; the movie was a fantasy, start to finish, and, not as good as the book.

    Christ has been the patsy of the Western business community ever since he took a switch to them in the temple courtyards in Jerusalem, or wherever that was…. Never did forgive him for that, so, starting with Peter, the Dickless, his name has been used ever since to justify pacification of any territory, in the name of ‘bringing the civilizing influence of Christ’ to the natives….

    It was a crock two thousand & some years ago; it’s all still a crock….

    Now, though, the presence of SEVEN Billion people on the planet, not all of whom are Christians, makes it all even more confusing, especially when those others are just as stubborn about their own version of the delusional system they prefer….

    As evidence, I offer ALL the above commentary, as an example of an average human series of interactions… with little agreement… Y’all are just less vicious than a governor, or -ment….

    Time to store up, & head for the hills, ffolkes…. It’s a Hard Rain’s a gonna fall…. and, soon….

The British Isles will, in the next 50-100 years, lose about half its total square mileage, to the rising oceans…. it may be a few years, but, y’all won’t need to worry ’bout acting vulgar at ‘watering places’ like the Isle of Man, or, Guernsey, or any of the cities near the current coastline…
