I guess there is money to be made by the “We Support Our Troops” fans of war and warfare on the radical fringes. I just hope they get the Veterans’ Health Care mess straightened out before they add another few thousand souls to the waiting lists. ( But I am not going to hold my breath).
I guess I got lucky so far because I have been a VA patient since at least 1973 and so far I have had only one major bitch with them – – when I had to wait 6 months to see a dermatologist for a leg lesion. But once they got onto it I was healed in a matter of days. Otherwise everything has run smooth as silk for me with them but I guess there are thousands of others who have not been as lucky as I have. I can see that. I can believe that. But I think the VA system – – once you get into it and they get onto your case – – is one of the most efficient and coordinated medical systems to be found – – if only the frigging Right Wing would stop messing with their funding.

John, there have been many studies that say what you say….VA system is a great system that works well…other than this waiting thingy there is not much to bitch about……..

Every week the president seems to send another 200 or 300 troops over there…
I am ex-military and I have to agree! I have never seen any kind of “Troops” that are non-combat troops unless they are conscientious objectors, medics or chaplains. If they have gone through basic training and have learned to fire weapons and to kill enemy troops then they are “Combat-Trained” and therefore can only be classified as “Combat Troops.” I also wish people would stop referring to our military personnel who find themselves in combat situations as “Boots On The Ground.” These people are living, breathing human beings who have given their service to the nation and they need to be respected a little better than to be assigned an impersonal tag such as “Boots On The Ground.”
