Israel: Is It Agression Or Self-Defense?

Opinion from the desk of the Editor:

Yep, when you are not beat about the head by reports from Ukraine then there are the numerous reports coming out of Gaza and Israel latest offense to chop off the head of Hamas…..first of all both of these areas are a massive PR campaign by the media.  I am not saying that either one is not a major story but the MSM has turned it into a PR campaign against Russia and the Palestinians.

As long as they can keep public opinion on the side that they push the better chances of a complete success without much push back from an uninformed public.

With that said… Americans realize that they are funding the war on Gaza and are indirectly responsible for the deaths and injuries?  That is right, sports fans….your tax dollars are killing and maiming!

Doubt what I say?

The US gives about $3 billion in aid to Israel a year and most of it is in the form of military ordinance…….and aid comes from the taxes that you and I pay to the government as part of our contract with the nation.  So you may not like to hear it but you and I are subsidizing the wholesale death and destruction of Gaza.

There is a way around this obscenity……it may be illegal what Israel is doing with the money we give them…….in an article written by Yousef Butt……….

The US Arms Export Control Act dictates the conditions under which foreign countries may use US military hardware or services. These include “internal security” or “legitimate self defense.” But the law specifically prohibits actions that “increase the possibility of an outbreak or escalation of conflict.” By killing mostly civilians in a disproportionately heavy-handed response and thereby sowing the seeds of yet more terrorism, Israel has undeniably escalated the conflict. In fact, Prime Minister Netanyahu has openly stated that he intends to escalate the conflict.

Bibi did say that the operation was moving from “Iron Dome to Iron Fist”……..that sounds like an escalation to me….but then I am not one that thinks everything Israel does is good or beneficial.

It is time for the US to make ALL recipients of our goodwill foreign aid to play by the same rules or cease the payments all together.  And it is time the Israel to be held accountable for the destruction that they impose on others in the name of security…….if you believe what the Old Testament says then Israel thinks it has the right to totally destroy a people in the name of “GOD”.

Think about it…..weaning Israel off American taxpayer money could eventually force them to look for a real way to a lasting peace…..and it could also benefit the US by lessening the anti-US sentiment and dropping the number of terrorists wanting to attack the US…….of course there is no guarantees but our undying support for Israel has made more enemies than friends.  Just a thought.

Time to stop treating Israel like the victim of the past….they have moved beyond victim and into the foot steps of oppressors.

Israel-Gaza conflict: The myth of Hamas’s human shields

There have been a lot of “he said, she said” about the most recent war in Gaza.  The one that is the most disturbing is the one about the use of “human shields” as an explanation to account for the increasingly high count of civilian dearths and injuries.

I have looked for some facts on whether this is actually happening or just part of a PR campaign used to lessen international blow back…….and then I came across this article.

Israel-Gaza conflict: The myth of Hamas’s human shields.

It appears that Israel is continuing its run from victim to monster……..and if the Old Testament is to be believed then this is what Israelis do……..GENOCIDE!

Israel using flechette shells in Gaza | World news |

I can understand the necessity for a war…….what I do not want to understand is the necessity to involve innocent civilians, no matter what side you may think is right, and then by using such horrific weapons as land mines, cluster bombs and now these bombs being used by the Israelis…..war is an obscene activity that benefits few……..

The bullshit of targeted strikes are a PR snow job not when a certain type of weapon is used……Weapons like this have No conscience and will harm anyone in its path…..weapons like this such be outlawed and if the world cannot do that then the users should be haul before the Courts and charged with crimes against humanity…..

This is a story that we in the US will never see in our media…….and for good reason.

All Around The Horn

Inkwell Institute

East African Desk

When I mention the Horn of Africa I get some unusual looks….most Americans only know of the region from a movie night when they watched “Black Hawk Down”………It refers to the countries of Eritrea, Somalia, Ethiopia and the area around the mouth of the Red Sea…..Americans sent a bunch of troops into Somalia to try and head off the rise in militancy…….it was a disaster and we pack up and headed for home…only after many Americans had lost their lives…..

Recently the Somalia militants have attacked the presidential palace and a mini battle took place……..

Militants have stormed the presidential palace in Mogadishu, though the BBC reports that Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is not there today. A police official said the attack started when a car bomb exploded outside the presidential complex. Gunmen then entered the palace, their entry apparently made easier because many members of the military police were traveling with Mohamud. A firefight is still ongoing. The Islamic extremist group al-Shabab, which lost control of the Somalian capital in 2011, has vowed to step up attacks during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

They were beaten off……since the military is a weak entity and the militants seem to always have the upper hand…..who could have put together a successful operation to thwart the militants attack?

U.S. military advisors have secretly operated in Somalia since around 2007 and Washington plans to deepen its security assistance to help the country fend off threats by Islamist militant group al Shabaab, U.S. officials said.

The comments are the first detailed public acknowledgement of a U.S. military presence in Somalia dating back since the U.S. administration of George W. Bush and add to other signs of a deepening U.S. commitment to Somalia’s government, which the Obama administration recognized last year.

The deployments, consisting of up to 120 troops on the ground, go beyond the Pentagon’s January announcement that it had sent a handful of advisors in October. That was seen at the time as the first assignment of U.S. troops to Somalia since 1993 when two U.S. helicopters were shot down and 18 American troops killed in the “Black Hawk Down” disaster.

Now I ask again…..who do you think would have the expertise to successfully thwart a militant operation?
