Closing Thought–03Mar20

If you read blogs then you will see all the info and observations on the virus that is streaking across the globe….and of course we all have heard of Obamacare…..the correlation between the two topics is that it is possible that any vaccine under Obamacare would be free of charge.

The coronavirus is spreading around the world and scores of new cases are diagnosed daily, as the disease breaks far beyond its point of origin in Wuhan, China.

There are at least 63 confirmed coronavirus cases in the United States. But that figure is still significantly fewer compared to other nations. Europe has seen a surge of new infections in recent days, bringing the total number to over 85,100 people in 56 nations. The overwhelming majority — 95% — of cases remain in China.

Health officials, though, are warning that its spread in the US is “inevitable” and urging Americans to prepare, holding out the possibility of school closings, workplace shutdowns, or the cancellation of large public gatherings.

One last thought on this killer virus…..It appears that China thinks a game is somehow infectious….

In the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak, China has banned the popular game “Plague Inc.,” which simulates a fictional pandemic, and removed it from the local version of the Apple App Store.

“We have some very sad news to share with our China based players,” reads a statement by game studio Ndemic Creations. “We’ve just been informed that ‘Plague Inc.’ ‘includes content that is illegal in China as determined by the Cyberspace Administration of China’ and has been removed from the China App Store. This situation is completely out of our control.”

Not to worry as things are going we have nothing tom fear….we will never have a free vaccine if any of these candidates get elected.

To deal with this virus….Be Calm…..wash hands….avoid crowds….and have an emergency kit.

Be Smart!

Why Quit When They Were So Close?

The recent news of the exit of Amy and Pete from the race when they were the Midwest answer to everything that is wrong with this system…..but why quit just before the Big Dance?

Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar have dropped out of the presidential race and are reportedly both planning to endorse Joe Biden on the eve of Super Tuesday, leading to many news articles using words like “coalesce” and “close ranks” as moderate Democrats appear to be coming together to back Biden’s candidacy in the hopes of pushing aside the much-further-to-the-left frontrunner Bernie Sanders. Here are some of the opinion articles that have cropped up so far on the subject:

  • Buttigieg and Klobuchar are doing what Republicans refused to do in 2016, writes Philip Bump at the Washington Post, recalling now-President Trump’s campaign. He was far from the establishment’s favorite candidate, but even with less than 50% of the primary vote, he scored the nomination thanks in part to the fact that so many of his rivals remained in the race. It’s possible Buttigieg and Klobuchar learned a lesson from 2016 and are clearing the path for Biden: “The anti-Sanders vote is consolidating.”
  • “It appears that the Democratic establishment is finally making a play to stop both current front-runner Bernie Sanders and the man who has purchased what appears to be every commercial you will ever see again, Michael Bloomberg,” writes Ashley Feinberg at Slate, noting that progressive voters should be “worried.”
  • Speaking of progressive voters, Elizabeth Warren is still in the running, and articles about her run the gamut from calling for her to drop out of the race and endorse Sanders (as Sarah Jones urges her to do in New York) to reminding voters they can, in fact, still vote for her; 96.1% of delegates remain unawarded, points out Ben Mathis-Lilley at Slate, who also notes, “It might … be relevant to you that she’s not a nearly 80-year-old man who has recently experienced heart problems, evident cognitive decline, or being embarrassed by Elizabeth Warren on national television.”
  • But Walt Hickey predicts at Business Insider that Klobuchar’s and Buttigieg’s endorsements of Biden will be “devastating” to Warren, since their constituencies also liked her—but may now throw their support behind Biden thanks to the endorsements.
  • If Warren remaining in the race is seen as a threat to Sanders’ campaign, Bloomberg remaining in the race is seen as a threat to Biden. “Everyone from US Sen. Tammy Duckworth of Illinois and former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to actress Alyssa Milano has rallied around Biden at the eleventh hour. Every non-hard-leftist, that is, except for one who expressly entered this race to stop Sanders,” notes Tiana Lowe at the Washington Examiner of Bloomberg.
  • As BuzzFeed points out, Super Tuesday was always Bloomberg’s big plan all along, and there’s no way he’ll exit the race before seeing how tomorrow pans out. And at the Federalist, Tristan Justice hypothesizes, “To the contrary of their intended effect to help Biden, Klobuchar and Buttigieg leaving the race could bolster Bloomberg just enough to siphon off increasingly scarce delegates in Tuesday’s primaries that would otherwise go to Biden.”
  • How Axios puts it: “Leading Democrats suddenly see their primary as a clear, two-person race—with Mike Bloomberg as the likely odd man out.”

Super Tuesday will tell the tale…..has all the negativity from the media has worked on the voter.

2020 Dem–Another One Bites The Dust–#18

The 2020 Dem candidates field keeps shrinking…..Steyer goes then Mayor Pete and now Amy has decided that the numbers are just not there.

She has had a poor showing in all 4 of the first votes in the nation…..and now time to dash for the exit…..

Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar ended her Democratic presidential campaign on Monday and will endorse rival Joe Biden in an effort to unify moderate voters behind the former vice president’s White House bid, per the AP. She is flying to Dallas and plans to join Biden at his rally Monday night. Klobuchar outlasted several better-known and better-funded Democrats, thanks to a better-than-expected third-place finish in in New Hampshire. But she couldn’t turn that into success elsewhere, as she struggled to build out a campaign that could compete across the country and had poor showings in the next contests.

Klobuchar argued that her record of getting things done in Washington and winning even in Republican parts of her state would help her win traditionally Democratic heartland states like Wisconsin and Michigan that flipped in 2016 to give Donald Trump the presidency. She was hoping to own the moderate lane of a Democratic field that grew to some two dozen candidates. But that got much tougher when Biden joined the race in April, starting as a front-runner and remaining there. Klobuchar also was quickly overshadowed by Pete Buttigieg, a fellow Midwesterner who shot from being the largely unknown mayor of South Bend, Indiana, to a top contender on a mix of intelligence, strong oratory and youthful optimism. Buttigieg dropped out on Sunday, saying he no longer had a viable path to the nomination.

That leaves very few candidates left…..mostly centrists with two progressives…..and today is Super Tuesday…..there may be more exits later today….

We will show Amy the exit in IST traditional way….with the music of Queen…..

My candidate is still trying……my alternates are getting few and far between.

We will see after Super Tuesday….

The Assassination Of A Campaign

The media has gone into a full court press against Bernie by the MSM……After the South Carolina vote the media smells blood in the political waters and has done all they can to destroy his campaign….

I wrote about the Media’s attempts to destroy Bernie and his campaign…..

The MSM has an air of desperation about it……especially in their endless bad mouthing of Bernie and his followers…..

Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign said Tuesday that it senses an “air of desperation” from the Democratic and corporate establishment as Sanders’ 2020 primary opponents intensify their attacks in a last-ditch effort to stop—or at least slow—the Vermont senator’s momentum before the South Carolina primary and Super Tuesday, when 1,357 delegates are up for grabs.

Billionaire businessman Michael Bloomberg’s campaign attempted to use made-up quotes as a way to smear Sanders as a friend of despots. Former Vice President Joe Biden, looking to stop Sanders from overtaking him in South Carolina, falsely accused the Vermont senator of trying to thwart Obama’s 2012 reelection. Pete Buttigieg debuted a television ad assailing Medicare for All with insurance industry talking points.

These aggressive attacks on the Democratic frontrunner over just the past 24 hours likely represent a preview of what’s to come in Tuesday night’s Democratic debate, the final time the candidates will face off before the South Carolina primary on Saturday and Super Tuesday on March 3.

The shameless media is just fawning over Biden and his endorsements…..all their hard work finally paid off for Biden……a disgusting display of how corporations own our political system.

Keep one thing in mind….if Biden wins NOTHING will change in Washington with the exception of which owned dullard sits in the big chair.

If you want the status quo then Biden is your man…..a corporatist candidate that owes everything to the companies that feed him campaign cash….then there is the media whom are them true king makers.

Every election I get more and more disgusted with the blatant bullshit in the media that is nothing but a source of shameless propaganda…..

As I have said many times before I do not support Bernie I have another candidate but I will reconsider my support if my candidate decides to drop out of the race.

Please do not let the media pick your nominee for you.

On The Road To Armageddon?

It may sound like a Bob Hope/Bing Crosby movie or some religious prediction from the 700 Club.

No sooner than the  news looks good for one war and another seems to fire up again.

Do you know where Megiddo is?

Well there seems to be a situation developing around that ancient site…..and in Syria……we have Israel attacking Syria….Turkey attack Syria and Russia backing Syria….Russia attacks Turkey….all in all this is not a good situation in the making.

Continuing Israel’s recent attacks into Syria, attack helicopters crossed the line of control into the Syrian Golan on Thursday, attacking a number of Syrian military positions around the area.

Details on what was being targeted or why was not entirely clear. Israeli media suggested Hezbollah was being targeted, while Syrian state media reported a civilian was killed in the attack.

There are reports that Russia has attacked Turkish forces in Syria….

Weeks of threats by Turkish President Erdogan to retake Syria’s Idlib Province by force went extremely poorly on Thursday, when Turkish forces moved into an observation post south of Idlib City, and were immediately hammered by airstrikes from both Russia and Syria.

At least 34 Turkish soldiers were reported killed in this strike, a major number of casualties. Turkey’s Hatay Governor reported casualties were still flowing into his province from Idlib.

Turkey has put thousands of troops in Idlib recently, and Erdogan had promised to reclaim all 10 of the observation posts, while ultimately expelling Syria from Idlib. They negotiated with Russia on getting Syria to surrender, but that failed.

Turkey seemed to be under the assumption that they could overrun Syria’s military, still taxed by a long civil war, with little problem. The presence of Russian troops, however, made this very risky, and Russia seems to be underscoring their willingness to get involved.

In response to the deaths of Russians the Navy has decide to participate…..

Russia has announced on Friday that they are sending a pair of warships armed with cruise missiles to the Syrian coast, after recent fighting with Turkish troops.

Over 30 Turkish troops were killed in Idlib Province, and Russia says that they hold Turkey responsible for their own casualties. They said Turkey was not disclosing the location of their troops, and also were embedded with Islamist rebels, making themselves a target.

Turkey shoots down Syrian jets…..

Turkey’s military shot down two Syrian government fighter jets over northwest Idlib, hours after forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad brought down a Turkish drone over the region.

In a Twitter post on Sunday, Turkey’s defence ministry said its forces struck two SU-24 aircraft in response to the downing of the drone.

And somewhere in the mix are US troops guarding the Syrian oil fields… is only a matter of time until something goes terribly wrong….again.

But not to worry Erdogan has Trump’s support…..

President Trump had a call with Turkey’s President Erdogan on Friday, and according to White House officials, Trump backed Turkey absolutely in Syria, demanding Syria and Russia immediately halt their offensive in Idlib Province.

The White House comments again presented Turkey’s operations as trying to “de-escalate the situation in northwest Syria,” when it would be more correct to say they are trying to keep Islamist groups from being defeated outright by the Syrian government.

With Turkey’s military operations risking running up against Russia, what they likely want is US military backing. Defense Secretary Mark Esper has already said that’s not under serious consideration.

Other US officials say that the US is looking to “help” Turkey in this operation, but it will most likely be in the form of information-sharing and equipment, not direct US military involvement.

That is the good news so far….”not direct US military involvement”.

Appears that not all the admin are on the same page on this situation….State and Pentagon butt heads….

A senior State Department official is at odds with the Pentagon over sending additional military equipment to help Turkey fight against Russian-backed Syrian government forces, four people familiar with the matter tell POLITICO.

James Jeffrey, the U.S. special representative for Syria engagement, has been pressing the Defense Department to send Patriot missile defense batteries to Turkey to help it repel the Syrian government’s assault in Syria’s Idlib province, the people said. But Pentagon officials are worried about the global ramifications of a move they see as reckless.

And the beat goes on.
