Today is the day set aside to honor those that gave all for their country……and to remember those who did not return from war…..
Not a day for controversy……Our president is talking about using his pardon power yet again…..this time will be a mistake……
How are you spending Memorial Day? Ordinary people may attend parades, host cookouts, or take the long weekend to visit loved ones……but not our beloved supreme leader……
Donald Trump, on the other hand, may pardon a few war criminals.
The president recently requested the files of several accused and convicted U.S. war criminals, a possible step toward expedited pardons for individuals who’ve done unspeakable things.
There’s SEAL chief Edward Gallagher, who senselessly shot to death a teenage girl and an elderly man in Iraq. Gallagher also brutally stabbed a wounded 15-year-old to death – and then posed for photos with the body, which he texted to friends.
Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) on Sunday urged President Trump to be “careful” in his reported plans to pardon a number of military servicemen who were accused of war crimes.
Ernst told CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union” that she doesn’t “know the details” of the prosecution for Navy SEAL Edward Gallagher or others but urged the president to “be very careful” in making a determination on pardons.
Please spend today for those gone. It should not be wasted with complaints and criticism.

Then tell the presichuqdent…..
Sad that your president steps in, to spoil such a powerful day for your country. Today of all days, I feel he is best ignored.
Best wishes, Pete.
Hopefully he shall be….but I am not so sure….chuq
I find it horrible that he is spending Memorial Day in Japan – I can ind no reason for him to travel there on this date. More than 100,000 Americans died fighting the Japanese 1941-1945 and I cannot recall that they have officially said they were wrong in attacking Pearl Harbor or in also killing millions of Chinese. Japan’s President has moved to honor Japan’s war dead and … Not the way to honor America’s military Mr. President.
I agree…..his place is at the Tomb of the Unknowns….chuq
Not a day for controversy or politics of any kind. It’s time out for the fallen.
Then why consider something so controversial for the day? That is my point. chuq
Agree he is weak at displaying good manners at appropriate times. Was he making this topic the issue de jour yesterday or is the matter simply part of the news cycle on the controversy ? He does make immediate response to everything thrown at him by the hour.
He was considering it for Memorial Day and then he went to Japan instead of the Tomb of the Unknowns….another slight to our fallen heroes. chuq
He did his speech on the carrier USS Wasp on the other side of the world. To quote Hillary: “What difference does it make?” Besides Pence was fairly eloquent and his demeanor was humble and appreciative and was better than a self aggrandizing Trump effort would have been. His commitment to Veteran health care is far above that of any president so to dwell on location is fairly petty. The souls of our heroes are in heaven not at the tomb.
Then why go through the ritual then? That is where Trump will order an carrier re-design because he does not like the idea ……Pence is a theocrat and should never be allowed near the reins of power. chuq
