Closing Thought–26Dec18

AS the year slowly comes to an end I would like to write about something that we seem to be suffering from but few want to admit it….domestic terrorism…..a subject that few are thinking about…..which does not make it go away.

Back in 2009 a report was released predicting the rise in right wing violence…..and since Obama was president the toads in Congress squashed the report…..and since it was the tools in the House then this responsibility for these attacks falls on the GOP in Congress…if they had listened then some of this crap could have been avoided……

Last year, a white-nationalist army veteran was charged with second-degree murder after he drove a car into a group of nonviolent protesters in Charlottesville, Va., killing one and injuring 19. Earlier this month, a far-right-wing army veteran shot and killed two people at a Tallahassee, Fla. yoga studio.

According to a new report posted Sunday by the Washington Post, the yoga studio victims were among at least 20 people who have been killed this year in the United States in suspected right-wing attacks (compared to “just one fatal attack in 2018 that may have been motivated by left-wing ideologies.”) This comes amid an “uptick in right-wing terrorism,” as the report puts it. The FBI has documented this phenomenon as an increase in hate crimes.

The problem is all the reports in the world cannot prepare the country for these Lone Wolf attacks…..which is domestic terrorism…..

The more we learn about our War on Terror the more we realize what a pack of crap it all is.

Time to see you guys tomorrow…..have fun…be well, be safe…..

Plans To Conquer America

History is alive!

How many plans have there been to invade the US?  Well one attack on 07Dec1941 and then there was an attack by a German U Boat during WW1 on Long Island (not sure if that was the location)…..but have there been other plans that are not as well known?  Oh yeah…..9/11.

What made me think of this was something I read about Obama and his re-election… seems some were saying that would trigger an invasion by the UN on our sovereignty……

A LUBBOCK TEXAS JUDGE made international headlines earlier this year for his prediction that if President Obama is reelected on Tuesday, it will open the door for a United Nations invasion of America.

Judge Tom Head told a local radio station in September that the president will: “Try to give the sovereignty of the United States away. He’s going to call in the UN troops, personnel carriers, tanks and whatever.”

The proclamation drew widespread scorn and ridicule both at home and abroad. Even the office of the Secretary General weighed in on Head’s prediction.

“It’s absolutely ridiculous,” said a spokesperson for UN chief Ban Ki Moon.

But while a United Nations scheme to send the blue helmets marching up Pennsylvania Avenue seems a bit hard to swallow, amazingly enough a number of world powers (both friendly and hostile to Washington) have had plans on the books for a take-over of the United States. Here are a few of the ones that we know about:

There are so many things about American history that are not taught….so many things that are far more interesting than some of the “facts” taught in our schools.

The Big Freak Out!

If you are old enough then in your head a tune called “the Freak Out” song by Chic is playing……but unfortunately that is not the freak out I am speaking of……this one is the freak out the MSM and pro-war d/bags are having over Trump’s decision to draw down of US troops in Syria and a slash of troops in Afghanistan by half…..

These people are pulling all punches taking shots at Trump for his decision…..I am amazed how big the freak out has been…..Right and Left has been freaking out of control…..MSM and small blogs freaking at the freaker’s ball……almost everyone with half a brain is freaking out over Trump’s decision to leave Syria and half the troops in Afghanistan…..

Open-ended war continuation has so much momentum in the US that President Trump’s announced pullout from Syria shocked the nation. Followed up the same week with a drawdown from Afghanistan, the mainstream is now completely apoplectic.

On the left and right, comfort with the status quo was virtually uniform. The arguments behind condemning the drawdowns vary depending on the side of the aisle the commenter is on, but the message is uniform opposition to ending a war Congress never authorized in the first place.

Conservative hawks are playing the usual fear-mongering about threats that have been ongoing since 2001, with suggestions that either not being in Syria, or being in Afghanistan but at a lower troop number, will lead to “the next 9/11.”

Among Democrats, the argument is a bit more confused but no less shrill, as they’ve attacked Trump’s hawkish impulses, but are now accusing him of acting hastily and arbitrarily in ending the war. That Russia has not favored the US presence in Syria is only riling up the argument that Putin is driving US policy as well.

Yet the arguments for staying in Syria, or Afghanistan, aren’t particularly strong, and it is only that both parties’ leadership have so consistently balked at exploring the question that seems to have left many with the impression that the very question was off the table.

The American public, however, seems to broadly support Trump’s decision to withdraw from Syria, and to bring some troops home from Afghanistan. The White House switchboard is laden with calls of support.

The Conservative publication National Review is part of the condemnation of the withdrawal decision…..

Donald Trump’s precipitous decision to withdraw American troops from Syria has shocked advisers inside and even allies outside his administration. Lindsey Graham called Trump’s declaration that we have “defeated” ISIS in Syria “fake news.” Graham followed up with a blistering appearance on CNN, where he indicated that Trump’s decision was contrary to sound military advice. Even his most staunch allies, men such as Mike Huckabee, were alarmed:

One of the many problems with skipping the constitutionally necessary congressional debate and authorization before launching a war is that the commander in chief doesn’t have to effectively explain the nature of the enemy, the nature of the conflict, and the scope of the mission. And when that doesn’t happen, even politically engaged and interested Americans can be left in the dark, with their understanding of the conflict limited to the occasional news story or presidential tweet. Barack Obama didn’t initiate this debate when he launched the counter-offensive against ISIS, and Trump has not remedied Obama’s constitutional defect.

It is amazing that the Left is along for the ride as well….even a hard Left thinker like Noam Chomsky is opposed……

The US should stay in northern Syria to deter attacks against Syrian Kurds, well-known American linguist and political activist Noam Chomsky said in an interview with the Intercept last week.

“The other crucial question is the status of the Kurdish areas — Rojava. In my opinion, it makes sense for the United States to maintain a presence which would deter an attack on the Kurdish areas,” he said.

Chomsky noted that the Kurds have “succeeded in sustaining a functioning society with many decent elements” in Syria’s north.

“The idea that they should be subjected to an attack by their bitter enemies the Turks, or by the murderous Assad regime, I think is anything should be done to try to prevent that.”

This universality of the condemnation is just fascinating….the Left and the Right in perfect harmony…..when was the last time we could say that?

I personally give Trump an “A” for his attempt…..the thought is what counts but in this case the action will count more….at least to me.

The Markets Made Me Do It!

Christmas is in the rear view mirror… has replaced religious thoughts with the dreams of “deals”….so what has this world wrought?

In case you were too busy trying to decide what to buy for Uncle Cletus…..the financial markets have taken a beaten…..down 1600+ points just last week….and the news does not look any better for this week….

So much for the Santa rally on Wall Street. The stock market tanked again Monday in a short trading day, making for one of its worst Christmas Eves on record, per the Washington Post. The Dow fell 653, or 2.9%, to 21,792; the S&P 500 fell 65, or 2.7%, to 2,351; and the NASDAQ fell 140, or 2.2%, to 6,192. The day’s selloff worsened after President Trump took to Twitter to blast the Fed as “the only problem our economy has,” notes the Wall Street Journal. The bleak numbers also came after Treasury chief Steven Mnuchin tried to soothe the markets before they opened, but his reassurance might have backfired.

Our dynamite Sec Treasury….that Mnuchin dude tried to soothe the savage economic beast by calling around…..

Treasury chief Steven Mnuchin made an unusual move over the weekend in an attempt to soothe rattled financial markets. But based on the stock market’s open, it appears that Mnuchin’s call to the CEO of the six largest US banks didn’t help. In fact, one financial analyst tells CNN that the call—meant to reassure the banks that all was well—might have actually spooked markets even more. Whatever the reason, the Dow plunged more than 400 points in the first hour of trading, threatening to dip below 22,000. As of 10:20am, the Dow was down 332, or 1.5%, and the S&P 500 (1.5%) and Nasdaq (1.1%) were similarly in the red. (The market woes reportedly have President Trump wondering about firing the Fed chief.)

It appears that the blame is Fed Chair and now the Sec Treas Trump is ranting that these people are to blame…..

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin could become the latest White House official to get the boot. President Donald Trump has been souring on Mnuchin for some time now and the continued decline in the stock markets could be the final straw, reports Bloomberg. One source told Bloomberg that the president has considered firing Mnuchin while another said that whether he stays on or not will depend in large part on what happens to the markets.

Mnuchin is not someone that I would ever support but in this case this toad is NOT to blame… is the disgusting economic policies of a person that tells everyone he is a genius…..and the markets do not trust him either……his attempt to calm things cost the markets another 600 points.

And if that does not work then he is considering firing the Fed Chair…..another person that did not create a terrible market atmosphere…..

I love when egocentric slugs blame people around him for the problems the fool created…..

The markets will be a telling story….

How fast can Mr. Trump tap dance?

Syria: The BS Makes One Sick!

I apologize this should have been posted before today….but even I get sidetracked around the holiday…..

The announcement that the US would withdraw from Syria and the pro-war parties have come out against the withdrawal……they are making every excuse possible to try and keep the war ongoing for the weapons industry……even heard one Senator say as a rep of a state that has deep military ties and the father of a child in the military this decision is disturbing….why?  Would rather see his child remain in harms way to protect what?  The M-IC and their obscene profits……makes me proud that I am an antiwar person and have been for 40+ years.

As I wrote the M-IC has gotten all its allies (paid agents) to come out with the most vile amount of lies and misinformation….just to preserve the weapons industry……some of the tactic to try and head off this withdrawal…..

Neocons are pulling out all stops……..

The United States never wanted to get involved in Syria. Barack Obama did everything in his power to avoid committing American troops to the muddled civil conflict, even at the cost of national prestige and his administration’s credibility. But while Obama dithered, chemical warfare again became the status quo of the battlefield, the greatest humanitarian tragedy of the 21st century unfolded, a human tide shattered the European political consensus, Russian and Iranian troops increasingly came into dangerous contact with NATO-allied forces, and a vicious terrorist network captured vast swaths of territory and brutalized thousands. It was only the threat of genocide and the prospect of the Iraqi state’s collapse that compelled Obama to confront his myopia. Though valuable time and tactical advantages were lost in the interim, Obama eventually learned that the world’s only superpower cannot sit idly by as local conflicts explode into regional crises.

Plus the use of Iran as a deterrent to withdrawal was predictable……

The Trump administration announced Wednesday that all 2,000 U.S. troops in Syria will start returning home very soon. President Donald Trump, who had long expressed his discomfort with an extended military deployment in Syria, explained his decision in a tweet: “We have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there during the Trump Presidency.”

The decision carries implications for the administration’s Iran policy, as Tehran and its client, the Assad regime, are poised to take advantage of the American withdrawal. In September, Trump’s National Security Adviser, John Bolton, stated the U.S. would not leave Syria “as long as Iranian troops are outside Iranian borders, and that includes Iranian proxies and militias.” The sudden reversal of this declared policy could have serious consequences for U.S. strategy in the region.

President Trump’s recent decision to withdraw the approximately 2,000 U.S. troops stationed in Syria signals that Washington is unwilling to challenge Iran in a theater of conflict that the Islamic Republic has invested heavily in for more than seven years. This will have significant consequences for Middle East security as well as the success of the administration’s Iran policy.

Then there is the use of ISIS and AQ as a fear factor was also predictable…..

When he announced his decision to remove the 2,000 US troops in Syria, US President Donald Trump tweeted, ‘We have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there during the Trump Presidency.’

The revelation that he kept US troops in Syria just to counter Islamic State is interesting—because it seems to show that delivering on his campaign promise to his base to bring US troops home has overridden America’s other interests there.

And finally the big question……what happens next in Syria?

There’s a grim joke in Washington that the end of the U.S. presence in northeast Syria was only one Trump tweet away. The sudden announcement, long promised by Trump, that the United States would withdraw its two thousand troops from Syria has proved it right.

For Beltway insiders this was predictable. The president has never been convinced that the United States needs a physical presence in a theater where it has had minimal influence and leverage

That is a smattering of the opposition to the Trump decision to withdraw US troops from the Syrian conflict.

The silly idea that the US does not leave its allies in  lurch is just as I said…SILLY!

Think back to the Nungs in Laos and the Montagnard in Vietnam….we left them high and dry and never looked back….so to say that we do not leave our allies in a lurch is a lie!….as the Kurds can attest.

All the opposition is just sickening.
