Is America still Number One? Depends on which metrics you use. By at least one measure, China’s economy already is the world’s biggest (1). Other criteria still put the U.S. ahead, at least for a few more years.
This map presents another way to gauge the size of the American economy, and one less prone to the ‘declinism’ of the eternal comparison to China.

Unfortunately the total value in dollars of the …Gross Domestic Product of a lot of the Red States is offset by the imbalance in the amount of welfare dollars they get from the taxpayers … an imbalance that is impressive indeed in that they get more out of the government than they return in goods, services or taxes.
Just gotta go to the “welfare queens”…there is more to it than that simplistic crap….but sense the map was about states and other countries….I guess the logical thing to do is blame some these….
The logical thing is to see the big picture and call a spade a spade.
That is a narrow vision that has been worn out over 30 years or more….
I imagine there are some folks who would see it that way but I do not happen to be one of them.
