What Were They Thinking?

Finally the weekend has arrived and I can smile more and enjoy life a little better……there is only so much insanity that one brain can handle before it shuts down…..thank God for weekends……

From time to time I read about a crime that makes me shake my head and ask the age old question….what were they thinking?

And I found just such a report……

Today I want to write about Oregon….and NO it has nothing to do with the horrific shootings……but it does involve something horrific……

In what could be the most Portland crime ever, the hapless driver of a refrigerated truck for a Seattle natural-foods wholesaler reported his tofu-laden vehicle stolen Tuesday, the Oregonian reports. The driver made a morning stop at a Safeway, but came back out after 20 minutes or so to find the truck was gone. It was found a few hours later, about three miles from where it was taken, but its load of what the Oregonian labels “flavorless soybean product” and organic juice was gone, authorities say. A witness told cops a man and woman had abandoned the truck; the value of its tofu haul isn’t known.

Okay….who in their right mind would steal of all things….tofu?

For the life of me I cannot think of one thing tofu is good for….other than some sort of inhumane torture……it may be good…….but unfortunately for the tofu industry I will NEVER know.

The perp needs to be checked for sanity…..in my book….they are batcrap crazy!

      1. Chuq,

While from a flavor standpoint I admit to some lack of enthusiasm for tofu, it happens to be one of the most important foods mankind has developed to use. I too find it hilarious that someone stole a truckload, but, it’s not as batshit as you might think…

A truckload of organic tofu would most likely go for about $100,000.00, or more. Tofu is a staple ingredient in a great many Chinese dishes, forming a large part of the diet of over 4 billion people in Asia. Used in soups, salads, and vegetable sauté dishes, it assumes the flavors of whatever it is cooked with. It is also one of the highest sources pf vegetable protein in the plant world, and is going to eventually be a part of EVERYONE’s diet, if the population doesn’t slow its growth… In the US, the entire Yoga crowd of obsessives, and most women who worry about their weight, and the whole vegan movement, use it extensively, so the market for it is huge…

What I find hilarious is the idea of a group of rogue hippie vegans hijacking the truck, and toodling off to distribute it at various communes around the Oregon countryside, with skinny, pasty vegans cheering as they drove up to share their booty…. LOL!….

      2. I agree it may be the food of the future along with crickets….but I will abstain until that day….it still taste yuky….LOL chuq

  1. Silly people. My friend tried to make me eat tofu. I usually try anything, but ick. She snuck some into soup and it escaped my eagle eye. It tasted wrong…I called her out and tossed the rest of the bowl. She says she won because I tried it Grossgag.
