There are ways to go about negotiating for a peaceful end to hostilities….and these are NOT on that list anywhere….a couple of things have occurred since the collapse of the latest attempt at a peaceful solution on the Pal/Israeli conflict that has gone on and on and….for over 60 years….
First, from the mouth of a Fattah (that is Palestinian group, if you were confused)….
Mahmoud Aloul, a member of the Fatah Central Committee, said that Israel’s “racist policies” were meant to undermine the peace process.
“The Palestinian Authority made every effort to avoid reaching this conclusion, but Israeli racist policies led to the failure of the peace process,” he added.PLO negotiators Saeb Erekat and Nabil Sha’ath also reiterated their refusal to recognize Israel as a Jewish state. Another PLO official, Yasser Abed Rabbo, accused Netanyahu of seeking to destroy the image of US President Barack Obama in the Middle East by raising such a demand
Then the president of the Pal Authority made this comment:
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas that under no circumstances would the PA sign an agreement with Israel which required the recognition of Israel as a Jewish state or a land swap.
“The PA recognized Israel’s existence in 1993, and now Israel needs to recognize the Palestinian state in line with the 1967 borders,” Abbas said during a meeting in Ramallah with Knesset members from the left-wing party Hadash.
Abbas clarified that the PA would exhibit flexibility regarding the nature of the negotiations, but added that they would not negotiate on issues the Palestinian people consider principal matters. (where does he get his figures?)
After all the jaw flapping by both sides and so far we got nothing! Pals die….Israelis die….and all the time they play a blame game……this makes me want to ask….ARE YOU F*CKERS REALLY WANTING PEACE?
To answer your question… Of course not – that’s obvious! What they want is victory for them and surrender by the other side – that’s BOTH parties who want that!
So, we are no nearer and there is no light at the end of this tunnel. Meanwhile the BULK of the people on BOTH sides (who are mostly basically moderate and could care less about settlements, Israel’s or Palestine’s status and all that shit) continue to suffer!!!
I am amazed that the players keep doing the same things over and over….and then they talk about how close peace is….it was bullshit in 1980….it is bullshit today.
I am working a couple of posts about the use of non-violence as a method…I appreciate your insights…..
Well, it is as we’ve said before one of the definitions of madness – repeatedly doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome.
Non-violent methods of bringing about change… hmmm… so many ignore evrything until something ups and smacks them in the mouth, but “tit for tat” violence never achieves anything EXCEPT in order to let your opponent know that you will NOT be taken for a mug and SOMETIMES that’s essential. The problem is that most people sadly do NOT understand that the behaviour and attitudes of the RULING elite of an opponent does NOT usually acurately represent the views of the majority of its people!
I did a paper once for a conference entitled. “The Shortcomings In The Theory Of Non-Violence”…..it was anything but a hit….LOL I talked down about Gandhi and MLK and the student movement in the US and even the women’s movement……not many attendees wanted to hear the truth…..a bunch of bleeding heart academics…..
They are, I’m afraid, the worst… and it’s so hard to argue because their hearts are in the right place – what a shame their heads can’t keep up and face reality at the same time.
Their problem is as I have said in the past….arrogance……they cannot handle what people are saying because they cannot talk with them without talking down to them….I had a guy so mad at me that he wanted to hit me with his cane…..when I asked him…he said yes and I then said looks like I proved my point……thank God there was NO gun toting Teabagger or I might not be writing today….
