2020 VP News

Let’s take a short break from the protest news and that of the pandemic…..bring to the reader news of the Dem nominee’s search for a running mate.

There were couple of stories in the news last week about the Veep sweepstakes in possibly both parties.

First the GOP……

While I do not support Trump I have less love for the theocrat Pence….then there was some whispering about a possible change in the 2020 GOP ticket….

If you think about it — the most important moments in your life — were you alone?” Ryan Bingham, George Clooney’s traveling termination officer, asks in Up in the Air— a film about the last recession. “Life’s better with company. Everyone needs a co-pilot.”

Whatever his ultimate preference, on this question, President Donald Trump doesn’t have a choice. Constitutionally, he must run with a lieutenant.

While the famous brandmaster has undoubtedly toyed with more egotistical arrangements —a Twitter account called “The Ticket” recently spat out “Donald Trump (R) / Donald Trump (R)” —the fact is his options are rather narrow.

VP Pence Could Be the Victim of a Trump Campaign Swap Out

I think TAC is just wishful thinking…..Trump will stay with Pence because he is a milquetoast choice that will not outshine the president.

Now few words about the Dems and Biden’s search for a VP candidate to help him to win the White House.

Biden’s short list is getting shorter by the day…..a couple of possible candidates have trouble in the vetting and one has withdrawn her name from the competition…..

Joe Biden has let it be known that he’s in no rush to choose a running mate, despite the endless veep speculation swirling around him. This week he publicly said he hoped to announce his decision by August 1. That’s less than three weeks before the opening date of the Democratic National Convention on August 17 (which will likely be virtual), indicating a fairly conventional timetable.

And so, as my colleague Gabriel Debenedetti recently explained, Biden has been willing to hold what amounts to an “open audition” for the vice-president gig, not doing much to help people guess which way he is leaning:

https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/05/joe-bidens-vice-president-shortlist-keeps-shrinking.html

Klobuchar, who is most like Biden in policies, is having her problems in Minnesota…..she will be out….because Biden needs the black vote and she will not help there at all….

Biden is never one to let a chaos go unused to his advantage…..of course he is NOT alone….voters should always question their motives.

The George Floyd protests are quickly changing the calculus of Joe Biden’s VP pick. Politico reports that two black women once seen as longshots are now serious contenders: Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and Florida Rep. Val Demings. Both have taken on large public roles during the protests. Demings, 63, has previously been vetted and Bottoms, 50, is undergoing the process now. An analysis at the Washington Post by Aaron Blake agrees. He’s got Bottoms at No. 7 on a list of 11 (she didn’t previously make the list), while Demings moved up from No. 7 to No. 6. In Blake’s reckoning, another black woman, Sen. Kamala Harris, remains in the No. 1 position.

In both stories, the rise of Demings and Bottoms has corresponded with the fall of Sen. Amy Klobuchar. While nobody is definitively ruling her out, Klobuchar’s stock has fallen because of her record as a prosecutor in the area where a Minneapolis police officer has been charged with murder in Floyd’s death. Axios, meanwhile, interviewed Demings and asked her if she would accept the running mate position. “If he asks me, I will say yes,” she responded. Biden has said he hopes to make his pick by early August.

Speaking of the black vote……

Former Vice President Joe Biden is facing fresh calls to choose a black woman as his running mate amid rising racial tensions after this week’s videotaped death of an unarmed black man as a white Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck.

Some African-American leaders and activists said a black woman on the ticket would help demonstrate to black voters, a crucial component of the Democratic base, that Biden is committed to addressing issues like criminal justice reform and police misconduct.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-biden-idUSKBN23539J

What makes black activists think that anything will change with a black woman on the ticket?  Little changed with a black president for 8 years….all this will do is make the optics looking inclusive.

Biden will use this situation to his advantage for that is the politically astute thing to do…..”never waste a bad situation to gain the upper hand”….but hopefully black voters will see him for what he is….another do-nothing Dem.

Biden’s VP

The time is nigh (I always wanted to use that term)….the time is approaching when Dem. presidential candidate Joe Biden must choose his running mate, the VP candidate.

I gave my thoughts a few months back on who I thought he would choose…….https://lobotero.com/2020/04/28/vp-the-2020-64-question/

My thought was Amy Klobuchar…..but apparently black activists do not like the idea of her being the pick for VP…..

Sen. Amy Klobuchar has many qualities Joe Biden is looking for in a running mate. She’s experienced and aligned with the former vice president on the issues. They get along and didn’t have any ugly clashes during the primaries and debates. But she won’t help him beat President Trump, black and Latino political leaders say. Klobuchar didn’t attract the support of minority voters in the primaries, Politico reports. The sentiment that the Minnesota Democrat has ignored black voters is so strong that after a speech in South Carolina in February, the Rev. Al Sharpton publicly told her to address it. “Y’all need to talk to the black press,” he told Klobuchar in front of the audience, per the Washington Post, pointing to a journalist in the crowd. In Nevada, just 4% of the Latino votes went to Klobuchar.

Putting her on the Democratic ticket would “risk losing the very base the Democrats need to win,” said Aimee Allison of She the People. An op-ed in the Post by a group of black activists and strategists argued that picking Klobuchar would “only alienate black voters.” Many see Klobuchar as embodying the party’s larger dilemma: whether to focus on getting voters of color to the polls who sat out the 2016 election, or on the white voters in the Midwest who went for Trump. She “represents that tension,” Sharpton said. The senator recently has taken steps, working to pass legislation sought by black and Latino groups. And Klobuchar took part in an NAACP town hall about the pandemic’s toll on minority Americans. But one activist cautioned that building such relationships takes time. “It isn’t something you can do in a matter of weeks,” she said.

Amy is a perfect fit for the mamby-pamby policies of Biden….will be interesting to see who Joe listens to in this process.

Speaking of Afro-Americans……In familiar territory…..Biden speaks and has to remove foot from mouth and walk back the statements…..and he had a really monumental FU recently…..

Joe Biden made inadvertent headlines during an interview that aired Friday with Charlamagne tha God, co-host of the nationally syndicated radio show The Breakfast Club. The exchange came near the end of the interview, when the African-American host asked Biden to make a return visit because we’ve “got more questions,” reports NBC News. To which Biden responded:

  • “You got more questions? But I tell you what, if you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black.”
  • Walking it back: After a day of negative reaction, Biden tried to do some damage control in a call with black business leaders, reports the Hill. “I shouldn’t have been such a wise guy,” he said. “I don’t take it for granted at all and no one should have to vote for any party based on their race, religion, or background. There are African-Americans who think Trump is worth voting for. I don’t think so and I’m prepared to put my record against his, that was the bottom line. … I shouldn’t have been so cavalier.”
  • Testy interview: During the interview, Charlamagne pressed Biden on a number of issues, including the 1994 crime bill he co-authored, calling it “damaging to the black community,” per Politico. Biden defended himself: “Take a look at my record, man! I extended the Voting Rights [Act] 25 years. I have a record that is second to none. The NAACP’s endorsed me every time I’ve run. I mean, come on.” The Hill has more on the overall interview, which it calls “at times contentious and awkward.”
  • Biden adviser: “The comments made at the end of the Breakfast Club interview were in jest,” tweeted Biden adviser Symone D. Sanders, “but let’s be clear about what the VP was saying: he was making the distinction that he would put his record with the African American community up against Trump’s any day. Period.”
  • Trump adviser: “It is clear now more than ever, following these racist and dehumanizing remarks, that Joe Biden believes Black men and women are incapable of being independent or free thinking,” writes Trump adviser Katrina Pierson.
  • Sen. Scott: Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, the only African-American GOP senator, faulted Biden on Twitter: “1.3 million black Americans already voted for Trump in 2016. Joe Biden told every single one of us we ‘ain’t black,'” he wrote. “I’d say I’m surprised, but it’s sadly par for the course for Democrats to take the black community for granted and browbeat those that don’t agree.”
  • A key issue: A New York Times story on the controversy suggests that Biden’s words “exposed wounds among Democrats that date to 2016, when many leaders felt the party took black voters for granted.”
  • A solution: At the Root, an exasperated Stephen A. Crockett Jr. makes clear he’s still voting for Biden. But that’s only because he’ll vote for anyone other than Trump. On Biden: “He’s the old white guy at the job who always wants to talk with you about basketball or hip-hop to prove that he’s not like the other white guys who mistake you for the valet.” Crockett’s solution to all this: “All Biden has to do is announce that his running mate is a black woman and then get out of her way. We know who Joe is and nothing he’s doing is making it better; in fact, he’s only making things worse.”

That interview should tell black people everything they need to know about Biden.

But are they listening?

Who Will Joe Choose?

We have had enough Covid-19 news for now….after all we have an election approaching and it looks like it will be Biden vs Donald……Trump will keep Pence as VP but who will Biden lean on in this time of need?

He has said he will choose a woman as his running mate….my thought is it will NOT be Warren or Gabbard….that leaves Harris and Klobuchar of the candidates for 2020…..there are others and fivethirtyeight.com takes a look at all the possibilities…..

One view of the vice presidential selection process, often expressed by people who themselves work for campaigns, is that the presidential nominee is making a personal choice, opting for someone whom he or she connects with and feels would be a strong partner in governing. Another view, according to research we (Adler and Azari) have done, is that the vice presidential choice often reflects broader dynamics in the party. In this view the nominee often chooses a running mate who connects with some broader goal of the party or who helps appeal to some faction or ideological bloc in the party that is not well represented by the candidate at the top of the ticket.

It’s really hard for us to establish whether Biden enjoys chatting more with Sen. Kamala Harris or Sen. Amy Klobuchar, so we’re going to take a party-centered approach to this question. We can look at the Democratic Party and some of its goals and use those as a rubric to evaluate some of Biden’s potential running mates. We have focused here on women who are either governors or senators — the traditional resumes of a vice presidential pick — but have also included a few noteworthy figures who don’t hold statewide office.

How Will Biden Choose His Running Mate?

I think it should be Klobuchar…why?  They are very similar…..will do any and everything for corporations and big money donors…..

Oddsmakers like Kamala Harris. Elizabeth Warren has made clear she’d be open to a spot on the ticket. But at the Washington Post, David Byler lays out the case for Amy Klobuchar to be Joe Biden’s pick for vice president. Yes, an all-white ticket isn’t ideal in 2020, and those in the progressive wing of the party wouldn’t be thrilled. “But nobody is perfect, and Klobuchar is as good as it gets,” writes Byler. She certainly has the resume for it—13 years as a Minnesota senator, a strong presidential campaign behind her, and no whiff of a major scandal. She’s also in sync with Biden’s brand of bipartisan, pragmatic politics, which would help deflect from the inevitable GOP attacks of a “socialist” takeover. And she has proven success at getting legislation passed.

What’s more, Klobuchar is relatively young at 59—a contrast to Biden’s 77—and her strength with swing voters would help in battleground states. Essentially, Klobuchar could not only help Biden win, she could then help him govern, writes Byler. “Maybe more important, whoever Biden picks would likely start out as the favorite in the next open Democratic primary,” he adds. “If he picks someone who is ideologically simpatico, then he could cement the Obama-Biden-Klobuchar brand of neoliberalism as the dominant strain of the Democratic Party for years to come.” Click to read Byler’s full column, but those who favor other candidates might take heart to know that he’ll lay out the cases for others in coming days.

Both are perfect for each other….for both are spineless centrists that will not change a damn thing……. only the face in the White House…..

I know…..I know…..the important thing is to beat Trump…..but that does not change my opinion of Biden and his choices.

VP Pence

Let’s say that Trump is removed from office….not saying he should be or will be…..just a supposition here…..if he leaves then Pence as VP will take over as president and what would his admin look like if this happened?

The U.S. House of Representatives, after several months of hearing testimony on the potential abuse of executive power within the Trump administration, voted along party lines, with the Democratic majority succeeding in impeaching the President of the United States for just the 3rd time in the nation’s history.

Taking charge after Barack Obama, analysts wobbled this way or that on what sort of policy Donald Trump would implement. A complete lack of a voting record, combined with the “drain the swamp” rhetoric of his campaign in the run-up to his election, suggested to some that Trump would not preserve the Bush-Clinton status quo of ever-increasing government spending, revolving occupational doors in Washington and seemingly endless warfare.

However the early appointments into his cabinet suggested business as usual, with several key positions being given to neo-conservative politicians who fit right in among the Karl Rove and Dick Cheneys of yesteryear.

State went to Michael Pompeo, while several neo-cons have cycled through Secretary of Defense and National Security Advisor, each more hawkish than the last. Finally the Vice Presidency was given to Mike Pence, who would take over the presidency if Trump is removed.

How Would a Pence Oval Office Look on the World Stage?

Personal opinion…..I cannot support a theocrat as president of the US…….religion should not be a motivator for government….I think this would be disastrous for the nation.

I may not like Trump much but I like Pence even less….he is a clown in royal robes…..a jester with an agenda.

Closing Thought–25Nov19

I try to not post too much on religion…..one it is a personal choice and being so is of no importance to the dialog IST wants to have…..and two just not something I want to do…..

I read something about the VP….it does not surprise me for Pence is a theocrat and would force me to believe his brand of religious fervor if he had his chance….so when I read he was only using aid to benefit certain religions…..

Last November, a top Trump appointee at the U.S. Agency for International Development wrote a candid email to colleagues about pressure from the White House to reroute Middle East aid to religious minorities, particularly Christian groups.

“Sometimes this decision will be made for us by the White House (see… Iraq! And, increasingly, Syria),” said Hallam Ferguson, a senior official in USAID’s Middle East bureau, in an email seen by ProPublica. “We need to stay ahead of this curve everywhere lest our interventions be dictated to us.”

https://www.propublica.org/article/how-mike-pences-office-meddled-in-foreign-aid-to-reroute-money-to-favored-christian-groups

Then Trump considering a possible benchmark for receiving foreign aid……..

Aides to President Donald Trump are drafting plans to condition U.S. aid to other countries on how well they treat their religious minorities, two White House officials said.

The proposal is expected to cover U.S. humanitarian assistance, and could also be broadened to include American military aid to other countries. If the proposal becomes reality, it could have a major effect on U.S. assistance in a range of places, from Iraq to Vietnam. Its mere consideration shows how much the White House prioritizes religious freedom, an emphasis critics say is really about galvanizing Trump’s evangelical Christian base.

https://www.politico.com/news/2019/11/11/trump-weighs-foreign-aid-religious-freedom-069595

This is just a way to promote one religion over another….we can call it whatever we want but it is not the business of the US to pick a country’s religion for them…..this will strain relations with Middle East and India for sure.

Keep in mind that most Americans do NOT want religion as part of the government…..

While Americans largely have a positive view of the role of religion in public life, they overwhelmingly want religious institutions to stay out of politics, a new survey from the Pew Research Center has found.

Sixty-three percent of U.S. adults believe churches and other houses of worship should “keep out” of political matters. When asked if religious institutions should endorse political candidates, 76 percent say no. And a plurality of adults—at 37 percent—believe that religious groups already have “too much” political influence.

Closing Thought–15Oct19

Most Americans know that Mike Pence is the VP of the US and he is a super religious zealot……his wife Karen Pence recently made a statement that took me aback…..

Second lady Karen Pence faced fierce backlash on Twitter after she reportedly praised President Donald Trump for how he treats young women.

Pence, who is married to Vice President Mike Pence, on Wednesday told a “Women for Trump” discussion in St. Paul, Minnesota, that she liked Trump’s respect for his daughters and claimed he’d “empowered women like no other,” according to The New York Times’ White House correspondent Katie Rogers.

They reminded her of Trump’s long history of insulting women, his comments boasting of sexual assault on the now-infamous 2005 “Access Hollywood” bus ride, and the raft of sexual misconduct and assault allegations against the president.

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/karen-pence-donald-trump-women_n_5d9ed188e4b087efdba8232b

Seriously?

Where has this woman been for the last couple of years hiding under her Bible?

All she has to do is visit a bookstore in her spare time and learn about the man she says is “good for women”…..

It’s a big day for upcoming books with explosive sexual allegations. Esquire is out with an excerpt from All the President’s Women: Donald Trump and the Making of a Predator, a book by journalists Barry Levine and Monique El-Faizy that pulls from more than 100 interviews to chart a path through Trump’s history with women—beginning as early as childhood. Esquire reports the book makes significant additions to the claims already made against him, as it contains 43 new allegations of alleged inappropriate behavior, among them “26 instances of unwanted sexual contact.” The excerpt itself focuses on “an alleged wave of unwanted touching” that occurred prior to his engagement to Melania. The excerpt opens with the now familiar tale of how he met the 28-year-old model while on a date with another woman.

But the authors dive into two other women, Maureen Gallagher and Kara Young, whom he dated while separated from second wife Marla Maples. Trump’s affection for Young was reportedly a problem for Melania, so much so that she and Trump broke up. “They got back together a few months later, but Trump apparently hadn’t abandoned those old habits,” the authors write before zeroing in on the aforementioned “unwanted touching.” Karen Johnson says she was at a Mar-a-Lago New Year’s Eve party in the early 2000s with her husband. While on her way to the bathroom prior to leaving, she claims Trump was hiding behind a tapestry, grabbed her, and pulled her in. “And he’s strong, and he just kissed me. I was so scared because of who he was … I don’t even know where it came from. I didn’t have a say in the matter.”

She needs to spend more time paying attention and less time sucking up to Trump.

Oh wait…she is not alone as batcrap crazy……our minister of justice is just as tilted…..

Attorney General William Barr on Friday faulted the “ascendancy” of secularism in America for mental illness, violence and drug abuse.

“Virtually every moral pathology has gained ground,” he said in a speech at the University of Notre Dame’s law school.

The speech revealed how deeply the top lawman in the nation is tied to his Catholicism as he lashed a recent New Jersey law requiring LGBTQ curriculum in public schools to support civil rights. He complained that laws are being “used as a battering ram to break down traditional moral values.”

Barr said that secular militants, including “so-called progressives,” are mobilized in an “organized destruction” of religion. He vowed that his Justice Department will fight for the “most cherished of all our American liberties: the freedom to live according to our faith.”

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/william-barr-secularism-religion-drug-abuse-violence_n_5da151a3e4b02c9da04a8e8d

This man is a toad, a slug that belongs in jail not in charge of the nation’s law enforcement.

Then there is the State Department of Religion’s leader Pompeo……

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo delivered an address last week to the American Association of Christian Counselors World Conference in Nashville, titled “Being a Christian Leader.” As of Monday, the top item on the State Department’s main webpage was a post promoting the address in bold type.

In his speech, Pompeo said he would “use my time today to think about what it means to be a Christian leader, a Christian leader in three areas.” They included disposition, dialogue, and decisions.

“And my focus too, to be quite candid, is not just on being a leader,” he explained. “I learned how to lead at whatever level I’m blessed with during my time at West Point and other experiences, but I want to talk today about being a Christian leader. I learned that through a very different experience, an experience with God and my own personal faith in Christ.”

https://shareblue.com/mike-pompeo-state-department-christian-leader-secretary-of-state/

Unlike the TRump-ites…I know what the Constitution says about religion and I would appreciate my reps to follow the document and leave their personal feelings at the kitchen table.

One Day BAM To The Moon!

50 years ago this year we went to the Moon and walked around….and after a few more visits the US decided not to spend any more energy and money on visits to the Moon.

And then just days ago……our VP, Mike Pence, said that he wanted the US to return to the Moon in 5 years……

Pence, who serves as chairman of the National Space Council, delivered the remarks during the body’s fifth meeting in Alabama on Tuesday. He said the country is once again in a space race against “adversaries” like Russia and China.

“The first woman and the next man on the moon will both be American astronauts launched by American rockets from American soil,” Pence said at the meeting.

He said that President Donald Trump agrees with the goal. In 2017, Trump issued Space Policy Directive 1, which called on NASA to put American astronauts on the moon for the first time since 1972.

Pence added that the astronauts will walk on the moon’s south pole, which might host reservoirs of ice.

NASA needs new urgency and focus to meet the challenge, Pence said. NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine said the agency will do everything in its power to meet that deadline.

https://www.usnews.com/news/national-news/articles/2019-03-26/pence-tells-nasa-to-put-americans-on-the-moon-in-5-years

Apparently Pence was echoing the words of JFK….but there is a slight problem with the VP’s chest thumping about the Moon…..

The rocket that will be used to go back to the Moon is the problem……

NASA has been toiling away on a monster rocket for the past eight years — but how much action the skyscraper-size Space Launch System will see once it’s completed is now anybody’s guess.

Designed to send humans and almost 60,000 pounds of cargo to the moon and perhaps beyond, the SLS will be bigger and more powerful than any rocket since the Saturn V behemoth that took the Apollo astronauts to the moon 50 years ago. NASA has said the rocket will send Americans back to the lunar surface as early as 2024, with an uncrewed test flight tentatively scheduled for 2020.

But the orange-and-white rocket has fallen three years behind schedule — and is way over budget. Almost $17 billion has been spent so far on the space vehicle, which was projected to cost $10.6 billion when its construction was approved in 2011. Experts say each SLS flight will cost at least $1 billion, or about 11 times more than SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket, which made its debut last year.

Pence is learning the same lesson that “What-his-name” has had to learn……saying does not make it so.

One day these “people” will learn to put brain in gear before driving off at the mouth.

And under the media radar was the expansion of the bureaucracy……and the spending of more taxpayer money…..the Space Development Agency….

The newly established Space Development Agency promises to chart the first steps of a “comprehensive architecture” to address eight critical defense priorities by the end of September, the organization’s director said here Tuesday.

Fred Kennedy, who comes to the fledgling SDA from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, aims to present a fuller picture of what that architecture should look like to Pentagon leadership by the end of the fiscal year. If all goes well, the SDA would develop, buy, and deploy its first assets on orbit, along with ground segments, no later than 2022.

http://airforcemag.com/Features/Pages/2019/April%202019/SDA-Director-Embarks-on-Space-Architecture-Overhaul.aspx

Idle promises can be expensive…..and the taxpayer will shoulder the price.

That Christian Sharia

The world and the country wait on pins and needles about the outcome of the investigations into Trump and his corrupt organization……will he be impeached……would that mean Pence would ascent to the throne of power?

Personally, I would rather see a corrupt ineffective president than him to depart and give the power to a Christian Sharia advocate……Mike Pence….he is a Dominionist……surely you can remember the days when Musims would make the US live under Sharia Law….total BS but there is a chance that a Christian form of Sharia could be looming…..

Say huh?

Those involved in what’s become a major component of the evangelical right in the United States call themselves “dominionists.” They follow “dominion theology.” Pointing to the Bible, they emphasize that in it God gave humans “dominion” over the natural world and life in it. This, they believe, gives them license to exploit the earth. Further, the “dominionists” have expanded this to justify theocratic rule of society.

It is an evangelical segment that Donald Trump has sought to attract. They constitute a significant portion of his so-called “base.”

https://www.counterpunch.org/2019/01/30/a-theology-of-power-mike-pence-and-the-dominionists/

Pence is a theocrat……religion is religion and politics is politics and nether the two should be intertwined.

The truth is that Pence is not a person we want in control….

Pence’s timing was even worse than his thesis. He delivered his address an hour after the U.S. Central Command announced the deaths of four U.S. personnel in Syria, an incident for which ISIS claimed responsibility. While the press widely noted the jarring discrepancy between his remarks and the fatal attack, it was silent about the strangeness of the country’s second highest elected official, a person with his own national security staff, blithely going on with such comments after the military had already tweeted to the world about the deadly attack.

Was he not accompanied to the speech venue by a member of his national security staff, or at least an aide capable of surfing the news sites on a cell phone for breaking stories that might affect the prepared remarks? Or was Pence actually informed about the Syria news and mechanically went ahead with the speech anyway? Either way, he doesn’t sound like the leader we need to manage a potential Cuban missile crisis.

Another discordant note: it was not as if Pence were haranguing a group of local notables in a Shriner’s hall in Muscatine, Iowa. In that sort of venue he could probably get away with saying more or less anything. Instead, it was an address to the Global Chiefs of Mission conference at the State Department—a foreign policy-savvy audience at a facility equipped for secure communication with all the nodes of the national command structure. That he thought he could pull the wool over their eyes with cheap talk of victory is one of those ineffable mysteries of faith.

https://www.commondreams.org/views/2019/01/22/pence-unfit-office-trump

For me flush both Trump and Pence down the toilet and give Nancy the chance.

Is Pence On The Chopping Block?

The same block that Sessions was sacrificed on…..is there a spot for Pence on the trash heap of rotting corpses of Trump acolytes?

Why do I ask?

Well next year, 2019, there will be a push for the 2020 elections…..personally I feel that if Trump’s numbers show he cannot win he will bow out for he would not want to bruise his ego by losing to a Democrat.

But let’s say he decides to run in 2020 will he keep Pence as VP?  The NYTimes calls his loyalty into question…..

President Trump’s post-midterm election news conference at the White House last week took a surprising turn when a reporter asked about locking down his 2020 ticket.

“Mike, will you be my running mate?” Mr. Trump asked Vice President Pence, who stood up, raised his hand, and nodded.

“Will you? Thank you. O.K., good,” the president said. “That was unexpected, but I feel very fine.”

If you have been watching the news of the country especially since we elected Trump then you will remember all the graveling his cabinet did especially the VP, Pence……

Mike Pence groveling before Donald Trump is painful to watch.

There is that…..and again let’s say he decides to run but not with Pence on the ticket….who could be next in line to massage the ego of Trump?

Here’s a thought….how about Nikki Haley?

Nikki Haley is on her way out at the United Nations, but she may not be gone from national politics for long.

The former S.C. governor and current U.S. ambassador to the United Nations has been mentioned as a potential running mate for Republican President Donald Trump in the 2020 election, according to sources who spoke with the New York Times.

Haley would replace Vice President Mike Pence on the ticket, sources say, a move that could improve the ticket’s popularity among women voters.

That would be a huge surprise. While Haley is almost certainly not done with politics, she is widely thought to be angling for a high-paying job in the private sector.

(thestate.com)
Personally, if he decides to run in 2020 then I think Haley is a good choice and dump that theocrat in waiting Pence…..
Just something to think about for the coming election….it will be the BIG ONE…LOL

Closing Thought–02May18

We all know the NRA believe that there should be guns in school and churches and just about any place you can think of……but back during their convention a couple of years a go they banned guns from the convention……I know say what?

Well we could write off that bit of hypocrisy as an accident ……but then when there is yet another bit of idiocy it becomes a case of true hypocrisy….

National Rifle Association members have been told they won’t be allowed to pack heat when Mike Pence speaks at its national convention this week—and the irony was not lost on Parkland school shooting survivors, among others. “You’re telling me to make the VP safe there aren’t any weapons around but when it comes to children they want guns everywhere? Can someone explain this to me?” tweeted former student Matt Deitsch, who helped organize the March for Our Lives rallies. The NRA says “firearms and firearm accessories, knives, or weapons of any kind will be prohibited in the forum” during the vice president’s Friday appearance at the Dallas event because of Secret Service regulations, Slate reports.

An NRA spokesman tells the Washington Post that even in open-carry states like Texas, it is against the law to bring firearms into areas being visited by Secret Service protectees. Parkland student David Hogg has circulated a petition that urges Pence to cancel the appearance, calling it a “slap in the face” to Americans hurting from gun violence. A similar gun ban was in place when President Trump spoke at the NRA’s convention in Atlanta last year. The Hill reports that White House officials have confirmed that Trump also plans to speak at this year’s convention, which is being held from Thursday to Sunday and will feature more than 20 acres of firearms exhibits, according to organizers. (In his 2016 speech to the convention, Trump promised to ban gun-free zones nationwide if elected.)

What happened to the a good man with  gun BS or is it that people that would show up to hear Pence do not fit in the good man scenario?

I love the hypocrisy….but since it is the Repubs and their controller the NRA then it makes perfect sense…..like I said…I love this sh*t!
