The Adventures Of “Pierre Delecto”

There had been a “lurker” dogging Trump on Twitter….they went by the handle of “Pierre Delecto”….and finally his true identity has been revealed…..

You might know him as mild-mannered Sen. Mitt Romney. But on Twitter, he is Pierre Delecto, fearless defender of … Mitt Romney. After the Utah senator mentioned in an Atlantic profile Sunday that he has a “lurker” Twitter account that he uses to follow journalists and athletes, among others, Ashley Feinberg at Slate did some sleuthing and found the Delecto account, which follows and is followed by numerous Romney family members. Its first follower was Tagg Romney, one of the senator’s sons. The account, created in July 2011, has only posted 10 times, all in response to other tweets. Nine of the posts came this year, and many of them defended Romney against critics. The account is no longer public.

“Jennifer, you need to take a breath,” Delecto wrote after Jennifer Rubin at the Washington Post said his strategy for dealing with President Trump was “verging on spinelessness.” “Maybe you can then acknowledge the people who agree with you in large measure even if not in every measure.” Many of the 257 tweets the account has liked are either pro-Romney remarks or tweets from official Romney accounts, according to Feinberg. McKay Coppins, author of the Romney profile, tweeted Sunday night that he asked Romney about the Delecto account and his response was “C’est moi.” The New York Times notes that it’s not clear what the name “Pierre Delecto” could be a reference to.

If Mitt or any other spineless Repub has something to say about Trump or his policies then come forward and speak like the person that they were elected to be.

Mitt working in the shadows…what is he afraid of?  He is from Utah and Trump is NOT popular in Utah…his Senate seat is pretty comfortable as long as he wants it….so of what is he afraid that he must snipe from the shadows?

This is why I call most politicians cowards….they will attack from the shadows but shy away from the light….that by definition is a COWARD.

All this time, I thought that Congress was devoid of politicians who represent the views of my fellow lonely and disenfranchised Salon conservatives. After a painful period of hopefulness I had determined that it was in fact too much to ask for a single senator who was both skeptical of the federal government behemoth and sentient enough to see that the president is a pathological liar who should not be trusted to run a down-market QVC steak brand, much less the White House. 

But it turns out that this senator was right in front of me all along. Lurking. Reading my hot fire twitter takes. Sometimes you look everywhere for love and it’s right there staring you in the face.

Yes, that man is Senator Pierre Delecto. The delightful Pete. Never Trump stalwart. Conservative Globalist. The senator I’ve been dreaming for . . . but more in déguiser than reality. The Gene Parmesan of the world’s greatest deliberative body.

Nudge nudge, wink wink, Bob’s your uncle.

No matter which side of the debate your are on we have to admit that Trump’s lawyer Rudy is acting and sounding like your crazy Uncle Bob…you know the one….he is the one that has an opinion on everything and is loud and usually wrong.

But is Rudy still Trump’s personal lawyer?  The question for the week……..

Rudy Giuliani remains in the hot seat over his dealings in Ukraine for President Trump, with a reported federal investigation into his lobbying and his role in undermining the ex-American ambassador to Ukraine. Now, President Trump is not only saying he doesn’t know the two Giuliani associates who were arrested this week for campaign finance violations—he doesn’t even seem 100% sure what role Giuliani still plays in his sphere. As the president left the White House Friday to head to a rally in Louisiana, a reporter asked him if Giuliani was still his personal attorney, and Trump waffled a bit. “Well, I don’t know, I haven’t spoken to Rudy,” he responded. “I spoke to him yesterday briefly, uh, he’s a very good attorney, and he has been my attorney, yeah, sure.”

That’s all he said on that, but the Washington Post notes Giuliani had a more definitive answer. “Yes. I am still his attorney,” the ex-New York City mayor texted to the paper’s Josh Dawsey. A source said to be close to Trump’s legal team tells CNN that Giuliani is indeed still the president’s lawyer, but that he won’t be handling anything involving Ukraine. Giuliani’s own words to the news outlet: “There are no Ukraine issues. I finished that in March. I’m still representing him.” The White House declined to comment on the whole matter. Meanwhile, sources tell Politico that others in Trump’s sphere want Giuliani out of there, his “long-winded monologues” and “freewheeling accusations” a liability to the president. “Rudy Giuliani needs to stop talking,” an ex-campaign official says.

But The Donald does not sound so sure of it……

I hear people say that Rudy has been driven to these antics because of his failed presidential attempt……he had put all the goodwill of being the mayor of NYC on 9/11 and it was not enough…he was rudderless after that….

But I do not agree…I think he has always been a nut case he just has the chance now to make it more pronounced…..and to display his nutcase wisdom.

And I am not alone in this thought…..

These are the words of President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, speaking of the government operative who leaked information about the president’s conversations with the Ukrainian president that has led to impeachment proceedings. Out of context, they appear to be narcissistic ravings. In context, they are just another installment of the constant refrain Americans are used to hearing from the president’s lead defender. No matter how unhinged Giuliani sounds in one interview, the cameras go back to him again and again.

The regular media meltdowns have almost become a real-time comedy for US news consumers, although it has all taken a serious turn. He’s now the focus of the impeachment probes as well; two of his associates were recently arrested.

US media are asking: How could this happen? How did a two-term mayor of a major city, previously a famous federal prosecutor, and someone thought to be a future president, once lauded for reducing crime in New York City and serving as a rallying figure after the World Trade Center attacks, turn into such a primetime clown of the Trump era? How could a crime fighter become the center of criminal intrigue?

Actually, Rudy Giuliani Has Always Been Like This

He has always thought the country owes him something for being the mayor of NYC on 9/11……

We owe him NOTHING!  He is getting a feee ride on the taxpayer dime.  Debt paid!

It’s Theatrics As Usual

Things are not going the way that the Imperial president wants it to go……he is stonewalling the Congress as often as possible……but a couple of his attempts did not go well for Trump……”the extremely stable genius”……

New York lawmakers gave final passage to legislation Wednesday that would allow President Donald Trump’s state tax returns to be released to congressional committees that have, so far, been barred from getting the president’s federal filings, the AP reports. The Democrat-led Senate and Assembly both approved the measures Wednesday, sending them to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat. A spokesman has said the governor supports the principle behind the legislation but will review the bill carefully before deciding whether to sign it. The legislation doesn’t target Trump by name, but it would allow the leaders of the US House Ways and Means Committee, the Senate Finance Committee, or the Joint Committee on Taxation to get access to any New York state tax returns filed by elected officials and top appointed officials. In related news:

  • A New York judge refused Wednesday to block congressional subpoenas seeking financial records from two banks that did business with President Donald Trump, making it clear it wasn’t a close call, per the AP. US District Judge Edgardo Ramos said in a ruling delivered from the bench that Trump and his company were “highly unlikely” to succeed in a lawsuit arguing that the subpoenas seeking records from Deutsche Bank and Capital One were unlawful and unconstitutional.
  • Five search warrant applications, from the early stages of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation in 2017, were made public in response to requests from media organizations. The documents shed further light on how former Trump attorney Michael Cohen capitalized financially on his closeness to Trump immediately after the 2016 election. See more at the AP.

To try and refocus the media Trump played a silly game……

On Wednesday morning, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi charged that President Donald Trump was “engaged in a cover-up.” In response, Trump claimed to have been so wounded that he called off a meeting about, and any further discussion of, the $2 trillion infrastructure bill the two sides had been considering.

“Instead of walking in happily into a meeting, I walk in to look at people that have just said that I was doing a cover-up,” Trump said at a press conference in the White House Rose Garden. “I don’t do cover-ups.” He added, further, that he wouldn’t deal with Democrats until they “get these phony investigations over with.”

“You can go down the investigation track, and you can go down the investment track,” he said, but you can’t do both at the same time.

This was a silly immature game played by a juvenile president.  He spends his time playing the victim card and whining about the way he is treated…..

The Constitution made it impossible that the US would ever have a KING and Trump is trying to return the hard work the Founders did to secure our future as a republic from an “extremely stable geniuses”….

I have always hated political games and this president plays them with such passion it is damn near humorous……time for the games to end and the governing to begin….2 years of game and silliness is enough.

But TREASON?  Trump keeps calling the people investigating him as traitors guilty of treason……does this “Extremely stable genius” actually know what constitutes treason?

President Trump’s personal lawyer says he is urging Ukraine to open investigations that could benefit Trump politically in the United States. Rudy Giuliani used Twitter on Friday to explain his rationale for planning a trip to Kiev to push for two investigations, the AP reports. One is the origin of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian election interference.

The other is the involvement of 2020 rival Joe Biden’s son in a gas company owned by a Ukrainian oligarch. Giuliani wrote to Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy to “explain to me why Biden shouldn’t be investigated,” and accused Democrats of interfering. Democrats rushed to denounce Giuliani. Rep. Jerrod Nadler said American politics were in “a sorry state” if the president’s lawyer was seeking foreign interference. Giuliani’s trip was first reported by the New York Times.

President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani says it’s his right to travel to Ukraine to “defend” his client — to try to push for investigations that he thinks could be “very helpful” to the president. The New York Times first reported Giuliani’s travel plans — he told the Times that he plans to ask Ukraine’s new president, Volodymyr Zelensky, to look into the origins of special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, as well as former Vice President Joe Biden’s son’s past connections to the country.

He said there’s “nothing illegal” about his effort to pursue probes in Ukraine, since he is not trying to carry out foreign policy initiatives on behalf of the administration.

Speaking with Fox News’ Shannon Bream on Friday night, President Donald Trump‘s lawyer Rudy Giuliani said he is not going to the Ukraine after all.

Giuliani told Bream that in order to avoid any political suggestion, “I will step back and just watch it unfold.”

Bream then asked if that meant “no trip on Sunday” and no trip to the Ukraine.

Giuliani said that it did.

The Great Weaponization

The push is on to protect Israel at all costs…..look at the stories being aired on the MSM….plus the moronic babble of the GOP……they are weaponizing “anti-semitism”…..hey MSM!……time to stop generating the news a start reporting the news…..

What’s in a word?  Plenty, if those words are “racism” or “antisemitism.” Just ask Virginia Governor Ralph Northam or freshman Congresswoman Ilham Omar.  Last week both found themselves engulfed in political firestorms.  All because of those two barbed words.

CPAC–2019

Yep it is that time of the year again….the annual CPAC meeting…the meeting of the conserv minds (not now but in the past….it was where big political ideas were hashed out)…….now it is a collection to dolts, buffoons, misogynists, bigots and total mental midgets…..in other words cheerleaders of the Trump presidency.

I have waited for some of my conserv friends to post on the meeting….so far any true conserv is avoiding this group of slugs at all costs.

I guess it will fall on me to give my analysis……I am a progressive, a radical in some eyes, so my analysis may be a bit skewed….

The “Big Ideas” this time around is abortions and creeping socialism……in other words those ideas from the 1980s and Reaganite ideas and policies…..this is the best mental midgets can do.

Plus where are the Big Idea conservatives?  Gone to podcasts everyone……most true conservs will not come to help justify the stupid that is the Trump policies…..conservs like Rick Wilson, Bill Kristol, Steve Schmidt, etc……people that still think in conserv ideas and not the manure that Trump and his enablers push…..

Opening day of CPAC gave us a step back into conserv history……

This is what I’m thinking as I work up the courage to attend the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), held annually just outside of Washington, D.C. The event, sponsored by the American Conservative Union, officially started today and thousands of conservatives are out in force. CPAC started in 1974 and there was a time in the Aughts when it routinely reached out to libertarians and even groups such as the ACLU. Over the years, Reason people, including myself, have spoken on panels there. But that was then and this is…a weird political moment where the Republican president is chumming it up with a North Korean dictator while his former personal lawyer and fixer is testifying about his boss’s alleged high crimes and misdemeanors before Congress. And the House is rejecting the president’s emergency declaration about a Southern border crisis. These are not normal times, so is there any reason to expect CPAC to be an island of normalcy? Probably not, especially given some relatively recent highlights of the conference.

As a progressive I like a good debate with my conserv opponents and friends….but what the GOP has now is NOTHING like the conservatism that many were proud to embrace……now all they have is hate, bigotry and falsehoods…..

Our Beloved Supreme Leader had his day in the sun of CPAC…..his speech was a rehash of the 2016 election, the size of his inauguration crowd and finally he said that anyone that does not kiss his flabby ass hates America.

Two hours of rambling, babbling lies and bullsh*t (his word not mine)……was boring with NOTHING new…not even the use of bullsh*t was new……He gave yawns instead of ideas…..

He mocked Democrats for their framework to combat climate change and said House lawmakers pushing to expand their investigations of him are “sick.” In a wide-ranging speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference, Trump rehashed his outsider campaign that overcame long odds and a crowded field of established politicians to claim the White House over Democrat Hillary Clinton. When he made his prediction of a second term, the crowd responded with chants of “USA, USA, USA.” Trump praised the conservative movement, saying “Our movement and our future in our country is unlimited.”

As he looked back to 2016, the president described himself as “probably more of a conservative than a Republican,” but says people just didn’t understand that. Trump also called the Mueller probe “this phony thing” and took aim at the Democrats’ Green New Deal, a policy proposal floated by some liberal Democrats in Congress and backed to varying degrees by several of the party’s 2020 presidential candidates. “I think the New Green Deal or whatever the hell they call it—the Green New Deal—I encourage it,” he said before mocking the notion of a world with “no planes, no energy.” The Democratic plan calls for a drastic drop in greenhouse-gas emissions from fossil fuels such as oil, coal and natural gas, but in no way grounds airplanes or pivots the country to renewable energy only.

All in all CPAC has become an enabler of a worthless ineffective president…..the GOP is truly lost and as some have said…it is dead…..

Appearing on MSNBC with host Alex Witt, GOP strategist Rick Tyler was visibly upset at what he heard from Donald Trump during his speech at CPAC, and even more so by the enthusiastic reception the president was receiving.

Asked by host Witt, “What can be done to resurrect the Republican Party as it was — or is that gone?” Tyler said the party is dead.

“Rest in peace,” he lamented. “No, it’s over. The problem is that the Republican Party has no grounding governing philosophy anymore because they’ve signed on to all these things as I just mentioned that were antithetical to the conservative movement.”

Seriously! What Did It Accomplish?

Yes I watched the hearings for SCOTUS yesterday….not because I give a shit on who gets what….I watched because I wanted to see how far these toads would push the political theater.

I was not disappointed.

I made the investment in beer and popcorn……

We had Graham give his little rant that nothing to do with anything but the cameras were on.

We had the nominee teared up over his yearbook entry…..very phony in appearance.  But he made damn sure that he got his digs oin at those that tried to get to the bottom of the accusations.  (not convincing in the least)

 In a public meltdown that many found nearly impossibly to comprehend, Brett Kavanaugh’s opening statement and early responses before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday offered a stark contrast to Dr. Christine Ford’s morning appearance, as the Supreme Court nominee launched into an angry, tear-streaked tirade against the Democratic Party and those who have alleged that he sexual assaulted them.

We had Orin Hatch talking and showing that dementia is setting in.

We had Jeff Flake talk about his confusion and  decisions to be made (his  mind was made up a week ago)

We had the Dems on the committee get their digs in against the nominee

And we had the president do what the president knows how to do (about the only thing he does know how to do) he tweeted his thoughts and patted himself on the back.

He was not alone…Tweeter was alive with the tribal back and forth….that accomplishes nothing but confusion and hate.

All in all this “hearing” was a total waste of time and money.  It accomplished nothing but a source of so-called “news”……and the speculation that followed….endless.

Now the vote will go forward and the GOP will weather the repercussions from these accusations.

But there is more that is being ignored……

The media, Congress, and the American people continue to fix to their attention on Brett Kavanaugh and today’s hearings regarding allegations of sexual assault and harassment against him. While these are serious issues and should not be taken lightly, there are numerous other developments that are falling by the wayside as the national conversation remains preoccupied with the Supreme Court nominee.

Holy Crap!

The last couple of years have been awash with scandals and most of them are of a sexual type….I realize that these things are nothing new just they seem to be more prevalent than in the past….it seems that they are an almost daily occurrence….

Just last week there were a few that involved a governor and a mayor…..

A St. Louis grand jury has indicted Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens on a felony invasion of privacy charge for allegedly taking a compromising photo of a woman with whom he had an affair in 2015, the city circuit attorney’s office said Thursday. St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner launched an investigation in January after Greitens admitted to an affair with his St. Louis hairdresser that began in March 2015. He was elected governor in November 2016. Gardner declined comment beyond a brief news release, but spokeswoman Susan Ryan confirmed the indictment stemmed from a photo Greitens allegedly took of the woman, the AP reports. Greitens was taken into custody in St. Louis and released on his own recognizance, Ryan said.

The indictment states that on March 21, 2015, Greitens photographed a woman identified only by her initials “in a state of full or partial nudity” without her knowledge or consent. The indictment said Greitens “transmitted the image contained in the photograph in a manner that allowed access to that image via a computer.” The woman told her husband, who was secretly taping the conversation, that Greitens took the compromising photo of her at his home and threatened to use it as blackmail if she spoke about the affair. A news release from Gardner says it is a felony if a person transmits an image “in a manner that allows access to that image via a computer.” Greitens has repeatedly denied blackmailing the woman, but has repeatedly refused to answer questions about whether he took a photo.

Then there is the mayor………

Investigators in Tennessee say nude photos recovered from a former police officer’s phone could be evidence of two crimes—or possibly three, since Nashville Mayor Megan Barry says if the photos are of her, they were taken without her consent. In an affidavit, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says photos from former Sgt. Rob Forrest’s phone show that an extramarital affair he had with the mayor happened while he was on duty as her bodyguard, the Tennessean reports. The photos were allegedly taken during times Forrest claimed overtime pay on two trips to Washington, DC, with Barry. The affidavit cites possible misconduct of public officials and “theft of property,” which legal experts believe refers to the overtime pay Forrest claimed. Barry, who is married, admitted the affair last month but said she wouldn’t step down.

The TBI says Forrest’s phone has also yielded evidence of 260 deleted chats between him and the mayor. Records show the TBI has seized the mayor’s phone, but she has refused to unlock it. Barry tells WSMV that she was “furious” when she learned about the photos. “If they exist, they were taken without my knowledge and without my consent. It didn’t show that I have done anything wrong or criminal and, in fact, if anything was wrongly done, it was done to me personally,” she says. The mayor says she told the TBI they could look at anything from her phone that related to the investigation, but they wanted everything between “me and my mom and my husband and my son and my attorney and that just didn’t feel right.”

This type of story is too common now for it to be news….just a couple of decades ago when the president got a BJ and you would think that the republic was doomed……now these types of stories are a yawn at best.

Benghazi: The Never Ending Story

The airwaves were clogged ass deep in the Clinton testimony to the Benghazi Committee…..I have been laughing my ass off at all the speculation……both pro and con….

Hopefully NO one was there for the full 11 hours of the comedy routine by the GOP…one of my regulars from the blog  “I Know I Made You Smile” commented on IST about the hearing and it was one of the best analysis that I have seen….

1. display her vast knowledge of world affairs, 2. demonstrated the complexity of things and her ability to handle it all, 3. showed how ridiculous it is to present it was her fault, 4. showed she had the stamina to be grilled all day and not break , 5. showed her skill in crisis management…..

Like I said there has been a wealth of analysis about the take-a-ways from Clinton’s testimony……this is what the pros have to say…….

Hillary Clinton faced an 11-hour grilling by the House Benghazi committee on Thursday, and the consensus is that she managed to emerge largely unscathed from the marathon hearing, which included discussion of her emails and a tense exchange about Sidney Blumenthal. But, as panel chief Trey Gowdy admitted afterward, it didn’t reveal anything new about the 2012 attack. A few takes on the hearing:

  • The long-anticipated hearing turned out to be pretty boring, which made it a triumph for Clinton, according to Chris Cillizza at the Washington Post. Unlike the Benghazi hearing in 2013 where she clashed with Rep. Ron Johnson, “there was no negative sound bite from her. No acknowledgement of error,” or signs of “weakness or confusion” about the events in Libya, he writes. “The hearing was, in a word, boring. And that’s exactly what Clinton wanted.”
  • The failure of GOP panel members “armed with thousands of emails and testimony from scores of witnesses” to trip Clinton up will further strengthen her campaign after her strong debate performance and Joe Biden’s decision not to run, write Byron Tau and Peter Nicholas at the Wall Street Journal. Clinton “held her ground in calm fashion” even as the questions grew “increasingly acrimonious,” with suggestions that she didn’t care about the victims of the attack, they write.
  • The hearing may look like a Clinton victory, but it could turn out to be a “delayed-fuse defeat,” according to Glenn Thrush and Gabriel Debenedetti at Politico. They note that the FBI is still investigating Clinton’s email use at the State Department, and it could be a major problem for Clinton if anything the FBI uncovers contradicts anything she said on the subject at the Benghazi hearing.
  • Clinton was trying to appear more serious than the panel questioning her, write Evan Halper and David Lauter at the Los Angeles Times, and “members of the committee often appeared to help, engaging in one high-decibel shouting match and numerous partisan jabs.” The five Democrats on the 12-member panel may now step down to avoid giving the committee undue “respectability,” they note.
  • The long hearing did nothing to advance the public’s understanding of the events in Benghazi, but it showed that Gowdy “and his colleagues have squandered more than $4.6 million and countless hours” for partisan reasons, the New York Times editorial board writes, saying that the GOP panel members’ “flailing performance” should mark the end of a “wasteful and counterproductive exercise that accomplished nothing.”

Trump/Kelly Saga Or They’re So Lame

I guess today I need to bow to social convention and post on some of the mundane worthless stories that Americans find so damn interesting (no accounting for intelligence).

I am amazed that the cock up between “Mr. Hair” and Megyn Kelly, FOX News anchor….this whole thing is mind numbingly mundane and worthless……but conserv after conserv has come to the forefront and demand that Trump act like an adult (not gonna happen) these people have whacked the Donald’s pee-pee over his comment and some have even gone so far as to call it disgusting…..and some have just mumbled because they are afraid to get on his bad side…….

First, all this lip service is just so much BS……it is what everyone tuned in for….the ratings were phenomenal…….people wanted to see what the Donald would say……the viewers got what they tuned in for…..THEATRICS!  That whole thing was designed to be a win-win scenario…..all sides came out of it all the better….it delivered!

Second, Trump did not actually answer a single question but instead delivered his usual platitudes and brashness……nothing about actual policies or stands other than his usual find a scapegoat…..he was telling people what they wanted to hear and he got what he was there for….APPLAUSE!

Last, Trump’s lame ass comment about Kelly…..if he had made the statement about a liberal then every conserv on the planet would have jumped to his defense…….saying the he was just “telling it like it is”…..again all this was just for show and the mindless bought it hook line and sinker.

This country has more problems than can be repaired in a lifetime and yet we want some egotistical dickhead to go off and play his little game……..there is NOTHING to Trump…..but HAIR!

It is just silly that this is still a story in the media……..I guess the Clinton e-mails will be the next to be dragged on…..and on…..and………
