A pastor lead off a recent campaign stop for Michael Whatley, the North Carolina Republican nominee for Senate, with a prayer that asked God to bestow “integrity and honesty” upon the event and to right wrongs “hammered down on the conservative movement.” The prayer was hardly unusual by North Carolina political standards. What was surprising was the man who delivered it: Pastor Daimon L. King is a registered sex offender, twice sentenced to prison for convictions involving children, according to state and court records, the AP reports.
That should illustrate just what sort of people are in this MAGA movement….deviates and morons.

The White House reposted Trump’s “New America” image depicting a map of New Mexico with an “X” over “Mexico” and replaced by “America” on Sunday, Sept. 6, during the Labor Day holiday weekend.
President Trump shared an image on Truth Social on Sunday that crossed out “Mexico” in New Mexico and swapped in “America.” The image came after a bogus claim on social media that Trump had signed an executive order to rename the state—a claim Snopes traced back to a satirical account and labeled false, per the Hill. The official White House account on X later reposted Trump’s map, though neither Trump nor the White House explained the reason behind the post.
The president doesn’t have the authority to rename states, per CNN, and New Mexico Democrats quickly pushed back. “Three things I will always call by their actual names… The Gulf of Mexico. Lake Ontario. New Mexico,” Sen. Martin Heinrich wrote on X. Rep. Melanie Stansbury questioned why the president was suggesting changing a name that “has been here since long before the United States was even an idea,” while Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham accused Trump of “coloring on maps” to “distract Americans from his disastrous war in Iran.” One Republican appeared to back “New America,” however, with Sen. Mike Lee of Utah calling it “kind of catchy.”

Iceland just put Washington on diplomatic notice over a map. Reykjavik summoned the US ambassador on Monday after President Trump shared an image on Truth Social that depicted the island nation as part of America, reports Reuters. In fact, the image also showed Canada, Greenland, Mexico, Central America, and islands in the Caribbean as blanketed in the American flag and labeled as the “United States of America,” notes the Hill. But Iceland took official exception.
The foreign ministry told local broadcaster RUV it made clear to ambassador Billy Long that the post was “completely inappropriate.” US diplomatic missions in the region and Iceland’s foreign ministry did not immediately comment. The flap lands amid long-running friction over Trump’s past push for the US also to acquire Greenland, and just hours after the European Commission pledged $230 million in investment there.

The Department of Health and Human Services has embraced an unfinished report from a Princeton think tank that it claims shows a link between support for “gender ideology,” political violence, and left-wing authoritarianism.
It appears officials at the federal agency jumped the gun on publishing the study from the Network Contagion Research Institute based in Princeton, NJ, before it was finished, Colin Wright, an author of the report and a fellow at the conservative think tank Manhattan Institute, told the Guardian.
The study measured support for so-called “gender ideology” with an online survey of 1,208 participants with statements like, “People should be supported in expressing their transgender identity,” and “Parents should support their children’s transgender exploration.”
Researchers extrapolated a link from there, correlating support for “gender ideology” with support for political violence through a matrix of what the authors call “minority stress theory,” which identifies “oppressors,” “certified victims,” and “an institutionally mandated response” to fight discrimination.
The report concludes: “These findings suggest that gender ideology is associated with LWA [left-wing authoritarianism] and willingness to justify political violence.” Wright disputed that there was a predetermined effort to make the link.
The report is full of dubious methodology, according to experts in the field, including a sorting technique that uses political ideology to identify an oversampled group of Democrats. “I don’t think anyone would think this is a good measure of authoritarianism,” said Gideon Meyerowitz-Katz, an epidemiologist from the University of Sydney.

In a recent interview with a Christian podcast, Vice President J.D. Vance mused about what might have happened if the 2024 assassination attempt on Donald Trump had been successful. He predicted the country would have faced “real civil strife” from which it might never have recovered and said he would have suspected a conspiracy had Trump been killed.
“I would have assumed very dark forces had taken out [Trump],” Vance said. “There would have just been an illegitimacy to our entire political system.”

A US appellate court has decided that the federal constitution does not guarantee a right to clean water.
That legal opinion came in the form of a decision on Friday from the fifth circuit court of appeals to uphold a lower court’s dismissal of a 2022 lawsuit from several Jackson, Mississippi, residents claiming that tainted drinking water violated their constitutional rights.
Those residents of Mississippi’s capital city contended that their local drinking water was unsafe to drink because of high lead levels and other contaminants.
The New Orleans-based fifth circuit’s majority opinion held that the residents wanted “recognition of two new constitutional rights lacking any foundation in the history and tradition of our nation” – those being “the right to be free from exposure to contaminated water and the right to accurate information from public officials”.

He later remarked that avoiding sexually transmitted diseases while dating around was like “being in Vietnam.”

MAGA pastor and self-proclaimed “prophet” Hank Kunneman of One Voice Ministries recently said that uncircumcised people are trying to steal the nation. His comment was part of a bizarre transphobic and Islamophobic statement on the midterm elections.
“I am not going to let uncircumcised, uncovenanted people try to steal this nation that was dedicated to Jesus Christ, the God of my covenant!” Kunneman said in a broadcast recently shared by Right Wing Watch.
“That’s why you need to get out at the midterms and you need to vote. Show up in force! Say we’re tired of these people walking into our bathrooms dressed as a woman but you’re a dude!” he continued. “Men, get out of women’s sports, you uncircumcised philistines! Islam, this nation belongs to the God that we’re in covenant with!”
