Political Corruption

Most of us agree that Washington is teeming with corruption that most of our elected officials are on the take in one form or another….if we know this is the case why is it never a political issue at election time?

This corruption has been going on for many years….we cannot lay the cause at the feet of Donny although it seems to be more out in the open since he has got his filthy hands on the reins of government.

Almost every week, there seems to be another story about the pay-to-play ethos that is dominant in Donald Trump’s Washington, DC. On July 30, the Wall Street Journal added a new one to the list.

The Journal described the president’s fervent interest in fundraising and how he checks almost nightly with his top fundraiser, Meredith O’Rourke, to find out “which companies and donors have cut checks and which haven’t, and for how much.” The story highlighted the way she channels his interest into making her pitch.

“’This is very important to the president. He’s asked me to call you and ask you for this donation…. The boss wants this money.’”

Nothing subtle there.

Then there is the way the administration has used tariffs as a lever to extract money and other things from businesses seeking relief or exemption from the tariff. For example, on July 31, MS Now reported that the Antwerp World Diamond Center in Belgium had presented the president with a large ring, which he dubbed the Freedom 250 ring, and that they subsequently received favorable treatment in Trump’s tariff regime.

That was no ordinary ring. It is made of eighteen-karat gold and is the size of a wristwatch. It has a hand-carved presidential seal on top, encrusted with 321 diamonds, 56 sapphires, 18 emeralds, and 6 rubies. And it has an engraved inscription to Donald John Trump. A few weeks after the gift was made, the report continues, “Europe’s diamond industry was exempted from Trump’s latest round of tariffs.”

The New York Times is right to caution that “There is no evidence that the gift of the ring directly affected the president’s thinking on the tariff exclusion for the diamond industry. But the new list of exemptions has renewed questions about which industries should be exempt from tariffs, and why.”

As blatant as his corruption is why do not the Dems use it against him?

There is a simple explanation….they are just as guilty and do not want an unflattering light shown on the them.

That is why we seldom hear about corruption in any election cycle.

Now is the time for this to be front and center for 2028.

But will it?

Making Corruption Easier

Donny and his DC Gang of Idiots are known to be as corrupt as they come….sadly we cannot eliminate the Dems from that assertion either…..and now Donny’s SEC (not the football conference) is trying to make it even easier.

The Trump administration is moving to strip a rule barring private equity officials from engaging in “pay-to-play” schemes with government officials.

The Securities and Exchange Commission is planning to revoke Rule 206(4)-5 under the Investment Advisers Act, arguing that it chills employees’ political speech. The regulation, known as the “Pay-to-Play” Rule, bars investment advisers from getting paid to advise government clients for two years after making a political contribution to certain officials and candidates.

In the 16 years since the rule was implemented, it has only resulted in a handful of penalties. The proposed change comes after private equity spending increased in 2024, and flipped toward Republicans.

SEC Commissioner Mark T. Uyeda released a statement last week arguing that the “blanket ban” had functionally undermined advisers’ constitutional rights. “Many investment advisers found it easier to simply prohibit all political contributions by their employees, thereby chilling speech and conduct otherwise protected by the First Amendment,” Uyeda said.

But the rule was intentionally written to be broad in order to address the difficulties state and local prosecutors had in proving quid pro quo deals, Axios reported Tuesday.

SEC Chairman Paul Atkins also released a statement last week supporting the proposal, claiming that the rule “discourages full participation in the electoral process through contributions to candidates.

“People should not have to choose between their political-speech rights and a job in a particular industry,” he said.

If approved, the change will unleash a flood of bribes to public officials, and even invite private equity to pay tithes to President Trump himself.

Oh great….just what we need to make it even easier from politicians to line their pockets while fucking up the system completely.

I guess the old saying is wildly correct….”The US, the best government money can buy”.

At what point does anyone tackle this corruption?

I do not see the Dems coming even close to a solution for they are just as addicted to corruption as the GOP.

Will we hear anything about corruption in the next general election?

My thought is….probably not.

Trumpalaooza Part 2

AS the GOP mid term convention (laughable theatrics) continued our Dear Leader made a second appearance (he just could not stand not being the center of attention) but I admit that is was not as full of manure as the night before….

Let me breakdown the night….Vance was allowed out into public by Donny….

President Trump returned to the stage on the second and final night of the Republicans’ midterm convention in Dallas on Thursday, imploring the crowd to “go out and vote” to save his party’s majorities in Congress, the AP reports. Trump praised his own Vice President JD Vance, who delivered a keynote speech that was closely watched as potentially teeing up a post-Trump future. Although Vance has not said whether he will run for the White House and Trump has yet to name an heir apparent, the crowd roared “JD! JD!” when he stepped to the microphone.

The president organized the convention in hopes of energizing supporters who often turn out for Trump but not for other candidates. “You got to do me the biggest favor you’ve ever done,” Trump told the crowd. “You’ve got to do this for me.” At one point he led the crowd in a repeat-after-me pledge to vote on Nov. 3. The second night of the convention showcased some of the most electorally endangered Republicans in Congress and those challenging Democrats in tough races, as well as another potential presidential hopeful: Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, who railed against liberal Democrats.

Vance also delivered searing criticism of Democrats, calling them “the party of hatred.” And even though Republicans have faced their own rifts over Trump’s war in Iran and other issues, he urged them to remain united for the midterms. “Don’t give the country over to a bunch of crazy people because you happen to disagree with us on a policy issue here or there,” he said. When a protester with a Mexican flag interrupted his speech, Vance won an extended uproar of approval with his response. “Well, my friend, if you love Mexico so much, get your a— over there. I’ll buy you a plane ticket,” he said. “We got to send a message this November,” Vance said. “This country was handed down to us by our parents and their parents before them. We received this national birthright, and we are going to fight for it by electing Republicans this November.

Vance was strutting like he had something to say….but he was just parroting what Donny told him to say and playing to a crowd of morons…..he appeared a clown without his make-up.

Like I said meaningless theatrics….mostly laughable and expensive….a colossal waste of time and money.

In short it made a great sleep aid.

Be thankful you had much better things to do…..like watch paint dry.
