Guns–I Remember When

With the horrific shooting that just keeps taking the lives of children and innocent by-standers….I got thinking about history (go figure) and the GOP.

I remember because I am an old fart when the GOP and the NRA embraced the concept of gun control (for lack of a better word)……the time was the late 1960s……

OMG!  Blacks with guns!

In the wake of two high-profile mass shootings in Buffalo, New York, and Uvalde, Texas, the gun control debate in America continues. Mass shootings in the U.S. occur at an alarming rate. In the first 22 weeks of 2022, there were around 246 mass shootings in America. Even with outrageous numbers like that, gun control is still a divisive point of discussion in American society. But this discordance around guns is nothing new — gun restriction debates have always been part of America’s history.

The Second Amendment in the U.S. Constitution gives Americans the right to bear arms, stating: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” And while the amendment is arguably ambiguous, one organization has explicitly honed in on the “right of the people to keep and bear Arms” clause. Within the last few decades, the National Rifle Association has been an adamant force for gun rights — insistent that the right to bear arms trumps any attempts at regulation.

Days following the tragic killings at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre vowed that the NRA would continue to fight to expand gun rights — “and not just in the face of tragic, horrible events when politicians and demagogues try to scapegoat us … but every day — for weeks, for months, for decades.”

No matter the circumstances, one might assume that the NRA has always been a stark gun rights advocate that is positioned against gun control. But you may be surprised to learn that there was actually a time in American history when the NRA was in support of strict gun control regulations.

In the late 1960s, the Black revolutionary organization the Black Panther Party was beginning to spread its message of Black empowerment across the U.S. Among various causes it supported, the BPP was determined to combat the rising number of police attacks against Black people by arming themselves with rifles. Using their Second Amendment rights, members of the BPP would often openly carry their rifles in the streets. But in a social and political system that was heavily based on racism and fearmongering, this made many white Americans uneasy, including the NRA. In an attempt to disarm Black Americans, the NRA took a racially motivated approach to gun control

There be your history lesson.

Funny how things change….now ain’t it?

Who Will Confront The Protesters?

By now everyone has seen those protesters that show up and times decked out for combat….with the tac gear, their assault weapon at the ready…most of whom are standing with their comrades (why is there is seldom one that protests by him/her self?)

Remember images like this from Ferguson, MO?

Police take up position over demonstrators who were protesting the killing of teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., in 2014.

Did you see this in Michigan?

We see very little police presence at these “protests” (they are not protesting just lonely little boys wanting to play army….it is called “cosplay”)…..but who could confront them since the police seem timid to do so?

Personally I am getting weary of these toads trying to intimidate so they can have their way about things….I have more respect for garden slugs than I do for any of these twats and their guns.

I feel there are some out there that would stand-up to these spineless bullies……please show these fools for the macho psycho cowards they truly have become…..

I have a thought…..

The conservatives have the demon NRA……maybe there needs to be an organization that will be the opposite…..an organization that truly cares about the rule of law…..

Not to worry there already is a group……the Socialist Rifle Association…..yes you read that right…..

The Socialist Rifle Association is an educational organization dedicated to providing the working class with the information they need to be effectively armed for self and community defense. This includes all manner of community defense, from the right of the working class to possess firearms to the ability to be well versed in the fields of medicine, disaster relief, logistics, agriculture, and survival skills. Our goal is to provide an alternate to the mainstream, toxic, right-wing, and non-inclusive gun culture that has dominated the firearms community for decades. We seek to provide a safe, inclusive, and left-leaning platform for talking about gun rights and self defense, free from racist and reactionary prejudices, while providing a platform for the working class to obtain the skills necessary for all aspects of community defense.

Our members produce quality manuals and guides for teaching firearms safety, marksmanship, history, and mechanics; as well as unarmed self defense, emergency medical care, disaster relief, and hunting. Our local chapters will provide in-person training and workshops, using individual members’ skills to help address the needs of their community. We also encourage members to pursue certification and outside training in EMT and disaster relief, so they can provide critical services to their community in bad times.

If you are any of the following: working class, progressive, anarchist, socialist, communist, eco-warrior, animal liberator, anti-fascist, anti-racist, anti-capitalist, PoC, LGBTQ+, or anyone else who is interested in learning about firearms and modern self defense — YOU are invited to join the Socialist Rifle Association today!

https://socialistra.org/about/

Reads like this group is for the members and not the manufacturers….that puts them heads above the NRA in my book.

Let’s say members show up to protest against the NRA thugs…..how many cops will show up?  Any takers on that question?

Just the name alone will make the news and the ire of conservatives and the cops…..these protesters would be treated like criminals while their opposites are tolerated….

I say screw the consequences…stand up to the protesters with NRA backing…..and see just how cowardly they truly are…..

All that said I am pleased to see that at least someone has stepped up in Michigan…..

Three black men brandishing rifles escorted a Michigan lawmaker to the State Capitol in Lansing on Wednesday, just days after hundreds of angry and armed white protestors stormed the building to protest the ongoing coronavirus lockdown.

Rep. Sarah Anthony told City Pulse that she didn’t ask for help, but was glad to have extra protection so she could attend an appropriations committee meeting without fear of being threatened.

“We were all just appalled by the lack of support and lack of security that I had, that other legislators had, and the fact that a lot of the demonstrators last week were adorning many racist, anti-Semitic signage,” Anthony told the local news outlet. “I think it just triggered a lot of folks, especially African Americans.”

NOW more Americans need to step up and show these soulless SOBs that they do NOT run this country….that we are still a country of law.

A Few Thoughts

These are a couple of stories that I came across and marked for a possible post….they never made it that far…..events moved quickly and made them a moot point…..

First thought is the ever popular NRA…popular with the GOP who gets a regular paycheck from the lobbying group……

It appears as if the NRA knew they were being played by the Russian agent…..

Top officials at the National Rifle Association knew Russians were using their ties to the gun rights group to try to bolster their status with lawmakers or the winner of the 2016 presidential election, a new report from Democrats on the Senate Finance Committee shows.

In 2015, Russian national Maria Butina, who last year pleaded guilty to conspiracy as an unregistered foreign agent, tapped her political operative boyfriend Paul Erickson to help her convince a top NRA official to come to Moscow, according to the committee report made public Friday.
“Russia believes that high level contacts with the NRA might be the BEST means of neutral introduction to either the next American President OR to a meaningful re-set in relations with the Congress under a (God forbid) President Clinton,” Erickson, a GOP political operative wrote to Peter Brownell, the chief executive of a firearm accessories company and, at the time, the incoming president of the NRA. “This simple good will trip would have enormous diplomatic consequences for a future U.S. / Russia bilateral relationship to the world.”

Second the whole mash up with the Ukraine phone call is what set the whole inquiry in motion…..SecState Pompeo has babbled that he had not seen the complaint and knows nothing about the phone call that started this whole thing….I appears that Pompeo is lying (go figure)…….
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was one of the people listening in on President Trump’s call to Ukraine’s president in July—the call that prompted the House to begin an impeachment inquiry. A senior State Department official confirmed Pompeo’s involvement on Monday, the Wall Street Journal reports. Pompeo had said that he opposed releasing the transcript of Trump’s conversation with President Volodymy Zelensky. He has since said the decision is up to the White House.

Pompeo had said he hadn’t read the whistleblower complaint in full about the phone call, and not answered specific questions about the conversation. As far as he knew, Pompeo said, per CNN, State Department officials had acted properly. Three House committees have issued subpoenas to Pompeo for documents related to the inquiry. He faces a deadline of Friday to turn them over
Pompeo has stated that ……
the House panels conducting the impeachment inquiry requested that five current and former State Department officials appear this week and next for depositions. On Tuesday, Mike Pompeo made clear that won’t happen, the Washington Post reports. The secretary of state sent a letter to House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot Engel (Pompeo posted the letter in full on Twitter) outlining a number of “serious substantive and procedural deficiencies” in the request, which he called nothing more than “an attempt to intimidate, bully, and treat improperly, the distinguished professionals of the Department of State.” He faulted the committee for not providing the five enough time to prepare and said the panels are trying to block State Department counsel from coming with them.

He also noted the five weren’t issued subpoenas, and “we are not aware of any other authority by which the committee could compel appearance at a depositions”; therefore, the scheduled depositions “could only be read as a request for a voluntary appearance.” The officials requested have all somehow been involved in US-Ukraine relations: Marie Yovanovitch, former ambassador to Ukraine; Kurt Volker, former special envoy to Ukraine; Deputy Assistant Secretary George Kent; US ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland; and State Department Counselor T. Ulrich Brechbuhl. Later Tuesday, CNN reports, the chairmen of the three committees requesting the depositions issued a statement warning Pompeo that “any effort to intimidate witnesses or prevent them from talking with Congress … is illegal.” The AP reports that Volker, who resigned last week, has agreed to talk to the committees behind closed doors this week and Yovanovitch will appear Oct. 11
No problem…either they answer questions or they are in contempt and should be arrested immediately.

Pompeo will say whatever Trump trlls him to say……Im have NO use for people like that…….suck ass cheese eaters…..
A little more than a week after saying he had just been handed “a report about a IC whistle-blower complaint, none of which I’ve seen,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed Wednesday that he was on the July 25 phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that prompted the complaint and is now the subject of an impeachment inquiry. “I was on the call,” Pompeo said from Rome, adding the US policy had been about helping rid Ukraine of corruption, per the New York Times. “We will continue to try to drive those set of outcomes,” he said when asked if he had any concerns about the call, per CNN.

Pompeo then elaborated on a Tuesday letter in which he accused Democrats of attempting to intimidate officials asked to appear for depositions. “They contacted State Department employees directly, told them not to contact legal counsel at the State Department,” he said, claiming the demands “deeply violate fundamental principles of separation of powers.” Late Tuesday, however, the chairmen of three House committees leading the impeachment inquiry said Pompeo “appears to have an obvious conflict of interest” and “should immediately cease intimidating Department witnesses in order to protect himself and the president,” per Bloomberg and the Hill.
Nothing about the DC Triumvirate, Trump, Barr, Pompeo is about what is best for the country….it is all about protecting a pertson…not the country or the Constitution.

The media is acting all butt hurt that Pompeo is lying to them……in reality Pompeo has been a lying arrogant Neocon since his days in the Congress…..to think that he has changed because he has a position of authority is just STUPID!

According to your president there is a “coup”….but then there has been such since he walked into office…..

Not for the first time, President Trump is falsely claiming a coup against him. “As I learn more and more each day, I am coming to the conclusion that what is taking place is not an impeachment, it is a COUP,” the president tweeted late Tuesday. Trump’s trade adviser Peter Navarro had suggested the same hours earlier, telling Fox Business that the impeachment inquiry was “nothing less than an attempted coup d’état,” reports the Hill.

Trump also claimed a failed coup in April, reports USA Today. “They tried for a coup, it didn’t work out so well,” he said of the Mueller report at the NRA’s annual meeting. Trump is likely to expand on his defense at a Wednesday press conference. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff will jointly hold one of their own, per NBC News, while the State Department’s inspector general will brief congressional committees on documents related to the Ukraine scandal.
As usual the president uses words that he has NO earthly idea what they mean……

Thought process recorded.

NRA–Is There A Future?

Closing Thought–03Jan19

Before I begin….I am a gun owner and believe in the 2nd amendment….however I do not think that the NRA speaks for us gun owners…it is about making money and control of the rudder of government….us owners are nothing more than a tool to gain their desire of control……

I read an article before the holidays about the NRA and how it may be losing its strangle hold on the message…..

Good news for humanity: the NRA is weakening. The gun-lobbying group is in “deep financial trouble,” Fortune Magazine reported, and warns that the NRA may not be able to keep going. “The group says it is under such financial distress because New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has convinced a number of financial service providers, banks, and insurance providers against doing business with the gun-advocacy group. As a result, the NRA claims that it will be forced to end its magazine publishing and television services, and will be forced to curtail rallies and potentially shutter some of its offices.”

Governor Cuomo got a lot of credit for what, in reality, took an entire movement comprising hundreds of organizations. (For many reasons, business magazines tend to downplay the powerful role of social movements in economic shifts.) The reality is clear to those who have been following the Parkland students and movement groups like #NotOneMore and Everytown for Gun Safety: their strategies are working and the governor is a welcome ally.

https://www.counterpunch.org/2018/12/13/the-end-of-the-nra-business-magazines-tell-activists-the-strategy-is-working/

The National Rifle Association (NRA) said it is facing financial ruin because of a “blacklisting” campaign headed by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, according to a lawsuit filed by the gun rights group.

The NRA said it may no longer be able to produce its magazines, run its video streaming service or hold rallies because the state of New York has caused “irrecoverable loss and irreparable harm” to the organization.

https://www.newsweek.com/nra-going-bankrupt-group-claim-it-will-soon-be-unable-exist-due-financial-1057187

Again this is not about our rights or gun control…it is about unbridled political power…..especially any abuses of our trust….and to my thinking the NRA has violated all trust that I gave them in the past.

Let it join the DoDo!

Closing Thought–21May18

Well we had another mass school shooting this time in Texas….but I will not cover that for that is an effort in futility trying to change a culture of violence, guns and killing…..something we Americans excel at……

A Rifle To Kill Americans

There is a new Russian sniper rifle that is designed to kill NATO troops and that includes Americans….the odd part of this story is that this deadly rifle was promoted by the NRA…..

In late 2016, the US Army released a report noting that the Russian military, through experience gained during fighting in Ukraine, was undergoing a transformation and becoming a more potent battlefield threat to American forces. One troublesome development identified by the report’s authors was the increased proficiency of Russian snipers. “The capabilities of a sniper in a Russian contingent is far more advanced than the precision shooters U.S. formations have encountered over the last 15 years,” the study noted. One reason for this was the Russian military’s recent adoption of the ORSIS T-5000, a relatively new Russian-made firearm that the report called “one of the most capable bolt action sniper rifles in the world.” As one military technology expert noted, after reviewing this report, the US Army faced “being outgunned” by foes armed with the T-5000—which can be accurate at a distance of 2,000 yards—and these Russian rifles were showing up in Iraq and Ukraine. That is, this weapon posed a threat to US troops and those of its allies. Yet the National Rifle Association—which boasts it is identified with American patriotism—has helped promote Moscow-based ORSIS and its sniper rifle.

https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2018/05/the-pentagon-considers-this-russian-sniper-rifle-a-big-threat-to-us-soldiers-the-nra-helped-promote-it/

A fascinating story……but it probably matters not…..

Closing Thought–02May18

We all know the NRA believe that there should be guns in school and churches and just about any place you can think of……but back during their convention a couple of years a go they banned guns from the convention……I know say what?

Well we could write off that bit of hypocrisy as an accident ……but then when there is yet another bit of idiocy it becomes a case of true hypocrisy….

National Rifle Association members have been told they won’t be allowed to pack heat when Mike Pence speaks at its national convention this week—and the irony was not lost on Parkland school shooting survivors, among others. “You’re telling me to make the VP safe there aren’t any weapons around but when it comes to children they want guns everywhere? Can someone explain this to me?” tweeted former student Matt Deitsch, who helped organize the March for Our Lives rallies. The NRA says “firearms and firearm accessories, knives, or weapons of any kind will be prohibited in the forum” during the vice president’s Friday appearance at the Dallas event because of Secret Service regulations, Slate reports.

An NRA spokesman tells the Washington Post that even in open-carry states like Texas, it is against the law to bring firearms into areas being visited by Secret Service protectees. Parkland student David Hogg has circulated a petition that urges Pence to cancel the appearance, calling it a “slap in the face” to Americans hurting from gun violence. A similar gun ban was in place when President Trump spoke at the NRA’s convention in Atlanta last year. The Hill reports that White House officials have confirmed that Trump also plans to speak at this year’s convention, which is being held from Thursday to Sunday and will feature more than 20 acres of firearms exhibits, according to organizers. (In his 2016 speech to the convention, Trump promised to ban gun-free zones nationwide if elected.)

What happened to the a good man with  gun BS or is it that people that would show up to hear Pence do not fit in the good man scenario?

I love the hypocrisy….but since it is the Repubs and their controller the NRA then it makes perfect sense…..like I said…I love this sh*t!

They Come Out Of The Woodwork

Sunday…….the day after the big march for our lives…..

Summoned to action by student survivors of the Parkland school shooting, hundreds of thousands of teenagers and their supporters rallied in the nation’s capital and cities across the US on Saturday to press for gun control, the AP reports. Organizers of the March for Our Lives rally in DC hoped their protest would match in numbers and spirit last year’s women’s march. Bearing signs reading “We Are the Change,” ”No More Silence,” and “Keep NRA Money Out of Politics,” protesters packed Pennsylvania Avenue from the stage near the Capitol, stretching many blocks back toward the White House. “We will continue to fight for our dead friends,” Delaney Tarr, a survivor of the Florida tragedy, declared from the stage. The crowd roared with approval as she laid down the students’ central demand: a ban on “weapons of war” for all but warriors.

Large rallies also unfolded in such cities as Boston; New York; Chicago; Houston; Fort Worth, Texas; Minneapolis; and Parkland, the site of the Feb. 14 attack at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that left 17 people dead. The police presence was heavy as more than 20,000 people filled a park near the Florida school, chanting slogans such as “Enough is enough” and carrying signs that read “Why do your guns matter more than our lives?” and “Our ballots will stop bullets.” Gun violence was fresh for some in the DC crowd: Ayanne Johnson of Great Mills High School in Maryland held a sign declaring, “I March for Jaelynn,” honoring Jaelynn Willey, who died Thursday two days after being shot by a classmate at the school. “For our kids, feeling safe is fundamental, and they don’t feel safe,” said the mother of an 11-year-old marching in DC.

When the last school shooting and the ensuing debate/conversation thee NRA came out with this lame ass ideas on what should be done about the violence and of course none of had anything to do with actual solutions to the problem.

But as lame as the NRA is and their thoughts the GOP has them beat at times….candidates to show their support for the 2nd and their acceptance of gun deaths to win their election  have been known for some of the dumbest and the lamest ideas ever…..

There is a candidate that is at the top of my list of morons…..

For years, the gun lobby, led by the NRA, has pushed the idea that more guns make the world safer. Most recently this has manifested in the argument (endorsed by Donald Trump) that the answer to school shootings is armed teachers. But Brian Ellison is taking it one step further. Ellison is a Libertarian running for US Senate in Michigan, and though his third-party run is obviously hopeless, he drew some media attention this week for his plan to, uh, hand out pump-action shotguns to Michigan’s homeless population.

To be fair, Ellison isn’t the first person to come up with this idea—19th-century revolutionary anarchist Lucy Parsons implored “tramps” to “learn the use of explosives” and Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine famously wrote “Arm the Homeless” on his guitar. But Ellison (who has not yet gotten enough signatures to qualify for ballot access) seems to have thought very thoroughly about his idea. He even started a GoFundMe campaign to buy 20 shotguns for homeless people, though the platform shut down his campaign for violating the terms of service.

https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/ne9jyb/the-senate-candidate-who-wants-to-arm-the-homeless-explains-himself

Wait!  Is not part of the problem as the GOP sees it as there is a mental illness problem with these shooters and if I am not mistaken that a good portion of the homeless are suffering from some form of mental illness….does anyone see a problem with his dumbass proposal…..

This why there can NEVER be a substantive conversation on gun violence because some people are just not prepared for the debate.

Go now and start your weekend and thanx so much for your time and your visits……chuq

God–Country–Guns

Note: Before a reader gets his.her hackles up….read the posts then make your case….thanx…..chuq

We have had another horrific shooting this time in a church setting in Texas…..and as usual it is too early to have a conversation about these guns and the fools that use them to destroy life and cause panic.

But it is time for a realistic conversation about gun control….I am not talking about confiscating guns……I am speaking about the use of assault weapons by civilians to cause mayhem and kill indiscriminately.

But we have to get past the mentality of God–Country–Guns….

Yesterday, I saw a sticker on a pickup truck that read “God, Country, Guns.”  To me, that sticker made as much sense as “God, Country, Hammers” or “God, Country, Bicycles.”  A gun is just that: a tool, an object, like a hammer or a bicycle, only much more dangerous in the wrong hands.

But many Americans don’t look at guns as tools, as objects, as a deadly technology that requires great care and also strict regulations.  They identify it with God and Country.  They see it as representing certain values, such as freedom and liberty and individuality.  For some men, guns are synonymous with masculinity.  They are symbols of potency.  Of agency.  They are worthy of protection, indeed of a lifelong vow, ’til death do us part.  Hence the catchphrase, “you can have my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead hands.”

https://www.laprogressive.com/god-country-guns/

Before any one has a fit….I own guns and I believe that all Americans have the right to own guns….just that the population does not need assault weapons….these weapons are for warfare not preventive maintenance of the household.

NRA needs to instigate these talks….it would look better for them in the media….but they will not for they work for the gun lobby not the membership……

A recent article……

In the aftermath of a shooting, there’s always a heated debate about guns in our country—one often fraught with bombast and vitriol. The high tension and emotion make sense: shooter Devin Kelley’s attack on congregants at Sutherland Springs’ First Baptist Church this past Sunday ended with 26 dead and 20 wounded. But all too often, our debates following such carnage result in little other than deeper division and venom between left and right.

Much of this vitriol stems from widely differing perceptions of the gun between these two circles. On the right, a gun is not always viewed as just another weapon. It’s often seen as a symbol: of resistance to tyranny, of autonomy and self-sufficiency, and even of traditionalism or groundedness. A plethora of pro-gun, Second Amendment-touting bumper stickers abound on the internet, as well as t-shirts, hats, and mugs. All of them hint at a libertarian individualism, a savvy self-determination that transcends what’s popular or “safe.”

http://www.theamericanconservative.com/articles/the-gun-as-symbol-who-owns-it/

Excellent points if one would look at the situation calmly…….but that is too far from reality for when the subject is brought up it takes on a life of its own…..people are dying…..maybe now would be good time to face reality.

Wait For It! There It Is! The Hysteria Returns!

Cha-ching!  Cha-ching!  Cha-ching!

That is the sound of cash registers burning up a couple of transistors in your local gun shop……why?  The prez has once again tackled the issue of guns.

Every time he, the prez,  opens his mouth on guns the sales go sky high because of a lie….that lie is that you will lose your guns if you do not somehow make the gun industry even richer…..so sez the NRA, the paid PR agent for that industry.

What did the prez say that has all the pain stirred up?

  • requiring criminal background checks on all gun sales, including private sales
  • banning “military-style” assault weapons
  • limiting ammunition magazines to 10 rounds
  • strengthening penalties for gun trafficking

Related Information: Gun Violence Fact Sheet | Gun Violence Executive Summary | Gun Violence Reduction Executive Actions

Predictably the first reaction from those on the outside looking in was……this is unconstitutional!  As always when the issue of guns is addressed…..but what about the proposal is unconstitutional?  These do not infringe on the 2nd amendment…you can still own all the fire sticks you desire.

If this is unconstitutional then maybe explain why and what part of the proposal is so….my feeling is that it will have very little to do with the content.

Who could object to background checks?  If you feel you must have an assault weapon in your possession then join the Army there is enough crap going on in the world so you can shoot them all you like.  If you need a magazine larger than 10 rounds for self-defense then buy a shotgun it will be more useful for defense.  Why would you oppose penalties on gun trafficking?

Still I do not see any of that making me lose my guns.

The only thing that this drama will accomplish is that the profits for the gun makers will double or better…..and after all….that is what this is all about anyway.

Then there were the tears……and the political vultures will pounce on this because it is the easy part of this drama…….let me say this about that….GET OVER IT!  You want to attack then attack substance not illusion……or appear…..petty and pathetic.

On a side note:  Off I go for class #2……

“One Good Man With A Gun….”

I recall back after one of the gun violence events…there have been so many it is hard to recall the exact time it was said…..I believe it was after Newtown massacre when there was lots of talk about some sort of way to control who gets access to guns…..any way that twat LaPierre o0f the NRA made his best statement yet…..

“The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.”

I am sure that everyone remembers his babbling…..so the elaborate on his statement a little further…..

Want your fellow Americans armed to the teeth? OK, but consider this: A bystander witnessing a carjacking in Houston Saturday night opened fire and missed the assailants but shot the victim in the head, police say. KHOU reports that a guy was being attacked by two men at a Valero gas station in north Houston when the bystander drew his weapon and fired. The bystander then snatched up his shell casings and fled, and police found the victim’s Chevrolet pickup truck about a mile down the road with the attackers long gone. The victim is now in hospital in stable condition. See a TV news report on the story at ABC 13. Hat tip, Raw Story.

I feel so much safer knowing there are people like this twat out there….protecting us from thugs!  (that is sarcasm in case you missed the symbolism)….
