Cha-ching! Cha-ching! Cha-ching!
That is the sound of cash registers burning up a couple of transistors in your local gun shop……why? The prez has once again tackled the issue of guns.
Every time he, the prez, opens his mouth on guns the sales go sky high because of a lie….that lie is that you will lose your guns if you do not somehow make the gun industry even richer…..so sez the NRA, the paid PR agent for that industry.
What did the prez say that has all the pain stirred up?
- requiring criminal background checks on all gun sales, including private sales
- banning “military-style” assault weapons
- limiting ammunition magazines to 10 rounds
- strengthening penalties for gun trafficking

Predictably the first reaction from those on the outside looking in was……this is unconstitutional! As always when the issue of guns is addressed…..but what about the proposal is unconstitutional? These do not infringe on the 2nd amendment…you can still own all the fire sticks you desire.
If this is unconstitutional then maybe explain why and what part of the proposal is so….my feeling is that it will have very little to do with the content.
Who could object to background checks? If you feel you must have an assault weapon in your possession then join the Army there is enough crap going on in the world so you can shoot them all you like. If you need a magazine larger than 10 rounds for self-defense then buy a shotgun it will be more useful for defense. Why would you oppose penalties on gun trafficking?
Still I do not see any of that making me lose my guns.
The only thing that this drama will accomplish is that the profits for the gun makers will double or better…..and after all….that is what this is all about anyway.
Then there were the tears……and the political vultures will pounce on this because it is the easy part of this drama…….let me say this about that….GET OVER IT! You want to attack then attack substance not illusion……or appear…..petty and pathetic.

Those who want guns WILL have them. Your points re: how much firepower does one need is valid, yet, does not account for the simple fact the military DOES have them…. So, who is to defend us against them? The entire purpose of the 2nd amendment was to keep the power in the hands of common citizens; and, it does say there are to be “no laws abridging’ the right. Period. No laws, to me, means no laws….
That said, I do not, nor have I ever owned a gun; if I need one, you may be sure I’ll acquire what I need. But, there are any number of low-technology techniques to overcome the difference in firepower, aside from simply taking it away from them…. Slingshots with explosive pellets, or pellets covered in toxic substances, for example. Another is a sling, or atl-atl, which throws fleschettes in large numbers, each tipped in cyanide… pretty deadly all in all….
Water in large quantities is pretty hard to deal with, too…. as are landslides (a twist on the old ‘deadfall’ trick…)
The human imagination has been thinking up ways to hurt/injure/kill anything, and each other, for a VERY LONG TIME…. guns & explosives are merely the latest incarnations of sticks and rocks…. Learn to use the sticks and rocks as they CAN be employed, and the danger of guns becomes moot…. The truly dangerous are those whose weapons cannot be seen, until it is too late to stop them…. and that comes from using our minds to think, instead of to fear….

BTW, these days, in this climate of terror so desired by those who pervert our government, when I leave the house, I carry a stick, a rock in my pocket, and a piece of braided leather rope… and, a knife or two in various guises. Tarzan carried a long tooth (knife) and a liana vine (a rope); the jungle had a stick wherever he looked…. He seemed to do alright for himself in the defense department…
As will any human with hands, and a brain they know how to use….

Every time the prez mentions guns then the NRA goes into full lies….only benefits the industry that makes these implements….once again it is all about profits and not the truth….so damn typical….chuq
