Sunday’s News And Views

Another Sunday in lockdown… that probably fell through the cracks with all the Covid-19 coverage….IST will continue to bring you something other than virus news on the weekends……(I will probably post some himself if I deem it important)….

I have written about the falling deaths of Russian doctors…..

She “fell out of a window.”

This is Russia’s official mantra explaining the April 25 incident involving Yelena Nepomnyashchaya, a senior physician at Krasnoyarsk Krai Hospital for War Veterans in southern Siberia. She had vocally opposed plans introduced by the region’s Health Ministry to transport COVID-19 patients to her facility for treatment, citing inadequate training and personal protective equipment for her staff.

The 47-year-old mother of two young boys didn’t “commit suicide” or “throw herself out” — she just “fell out” of a fifth-floor window of the gray, drab Soviet-era hospital building, and died a week later, officials repeat robotically on television or in statements.

“For a week, she was in the intensive care unit. Doctors were fighting for her life,” the regional Health Ministry said on May 1.

Two more Russian medical doctors also “fell out” of hospital windows in recent weeks; one died, and the other is hospitalized in “grave condition.”

Dissident Russian Doctors Have ‘Accidents’ Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

I have said the one death is a tragic situation….3 doctors is suspicious…..

Meatless Burgers…..or is that plant based burgers?  Anyway the popularity is growing…..

Retail sales of plant-based food are taking off during the coronavirus pandemic. The last time I braved the grocery store, which was a few weeks ago, I unwittingly illustrated two of the main reasons why.

First, I went in search of eggs. The store was all out, but right above the shelf where I usually find them, I spied a bottle of Just Egg, the plant-based substitute made out of beans. I’d never had eggless eggs before, but now, out of necessity, I decided to try something new.

Then I walked through the meat aisle. There was still plenty of beef and chicken to be had — but given that a live-animal market in China may have given rise to Covid-19 and that the giant factory farms that supply 99 percent of America’s meat are a pandemic risk too, meat just seemed very unappealing in that moment. Instead, I grabbed a package of Beyond Meat and went home.

A new French film is pushing the envelope as they say…….

Liberté, the latest from Catalan director Albert Serra, begins in 1774 with the Duc de Wand (Baptiste Pinteaux) recounting how he witnessed a criminal being publicly drawn and quartered. That anecdote is followed by another bewigged Frenchman ordering two comrades, in a wooded area, to fashion a “balm made of shit and dirt,” which will soon be used on one of their female companions, who will also have urine deposited into her backside while other men ejaculate into her mouth. “Her body will be the shrine of our world,” this superior states. Shortly thereafter, the Duc de Wand expresses to a female companion his own bestiality fantasy, and when she responds by saying that she’d participate by fondling the animal’s genitals, he chides her for her banal lack of daring.

In case you couldn’t tell by now, this is definitely not your new family-friendly quarantine viewing option.

Finally I would like to wish all the Mothers a great day and we love you guys a lot….

Who Will Confront The Protesters?

By now everyone has seen those protesters that show up and times decked out for combat….with the tac gear, their assault weapon at the ready…most of whom are standing with their comrades (why is there is seldom one that protests by him/her self?)

Remember images like this from Ferguson, MO?

Police take up position over demonstrators who were protesting the killing of teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., in 2014.

Did you see this in Michigan?

We see very little police presence at these “protests” (they are not protesting just lonely little boys wanting to play army….it is called “cosplay”)…..but who could confront them since the police seem timid to do so?

Personally I am getting weary of these toads trying to intimidate so they can have their way about things….I have more respect for garden slugs than I do for any of these twats and their guns.

I feel there are some out there that would stand-up to these spineless bullies……please show these fools for the macho psycho cowards they truly have become…..

I have a thought…..

The conservatives have the demon NRA……maybe there needs to be an organization that will be the opposite… organization that truly cares about the rule of law…..

Not to worry there already is a group……the Socialist Rifle Association…..yes you read that right…..

The Socialist Rifle Association is an educational organization dedicated to providing the working class with the information they need to be effectively armed for self and community defense. This includes all manner of community defense, from the right of the working class to possess firearms to the ability to be well versed in the fields of medicine, disaster relief, logistics, agriculture, and survival skills. Our goal is to provide an alternate to the mainstream, toxic, right-wing, and non-inclusive gun culture that has dominated the firearms community for decades. We seek to provide a safe, inclusive, and left-leaning platform for talking about gun rights and self defense, free from racist and reactionary prejudices, while providing a platform for the working class to obtain the skills necessary for all aspects of community defense.

Our members produce quality manuals and guides for teaching firearms safety, marksmanship, history, and mechanics; as well as unarmed self defense, emergency medical care, disaster relief, and hunting. Our local chapters will provide in-person training and workshops, using individual members’ skills to help address the needs of their community. We also encourage members to pursue certification and outside training in EMT and disaster relief, so they can provide critical services to their community in bad times.

If you are any of the following: working class, progressive, anarchist, socialist, communist, eco-warrior, animal liberator, anti-fascist, anti-racist, anti-capitalist, PoC, LGBTQ+, or anyone else who is interested in learning about firearms and modern self defense — YOU are invited to join the Socialist Rifle Association today!

Reads like this group is for the members and not the manufacturers….that puts them heads above the NRA in my book.

Let’s say members show up to protest against the NRA thugs… many cops will show up?  Any takers on that question?

Just the name alone will make the news and the ire of conservatives and the cops…..these protesters would be treated like criminals while their opposites are tolerated….

I say screw the consequences…stand up to the protesters with NRA backing…..and see just how cowardly they truly are…..

All that said I am pleased to see that at least someone has stepped up in Michigan…..

Three black men brandishing rifles escorted a Michigan lawmaker to the State Capitol in Lansing on Wednesday, just days after hundreds of angry and armed white protestors stormed the building to protest the ongoing coronavirus lockdown.

Rep. Sarah Anthony told City Pulse that she didn’t ask for help, but was glad to have extra protection so she could attend an appropriations committee meeting without fear of being threatened.

“We were all just appalled by the lack of support and lack of security that I had, that other legislators had, and the fact that a lot of the demonstrators last week were adorning many racist, anti-Semitic signage,” Anthony told the local news outlet. “I think it just triggered a lot of folks, especially African Americans.”

NOW more Americans need to step up and show these soulless SOBs that they do NOT run this country….that we are still a country of law.

Say Goodbye To A Legend

Yesterday the world got some sad news…..rock legend, Little Richard had died…..

Reactions are rolling in to the death of rock ‘n’ roll pioneer Little Richard, who died Saturday at 87, the AP reports. Among them:

  • “I’m so saddened to hear about the passing of Little Richard, he was the biggest inspiration of my early teens and his music still has the same raw electric energy when you play it now as it did when it first shot through the music scene in the mid 50’s,” Mick Jagger wrote on social media. “… I will miss you Richard, God bless.”
  • “Absolutely heartbroken this morning at hearing the news of the passing of my brother & friend, the great Little Richard,” Quincy Jones wrote on social media. “From our connection through our mutual mentor, Bumps Blackwell, to recording ‘Money Is’ & ‘Do It To It’ for the $ soundtrack, to doin’ the hang-thang at countless awards shows & industry events, every moment spent in Richard’s company was a thrill.”
  • “I just heard the news about Little Richard and I’m so grieved. He was my shining star and guiding light back when I was only a little boy. His was the original spirit that moved me to do everything I would do,” Bob Dylan tweeted. “…Of course he’ll live forever. But it’s like a part of your life is gone.”
  • “With his exuberance, his creativity, and his refusal to be anything other than himself, Little Richard laid the foundation for generations of artists to follow. We are so lucky to have had him. Sending all my love to his family and friends today,” Michelle Obama tweeted.
  • “Without a doubt—musically, vocally and visually—he was my biggest influence,” Elton John wrote on social media. “Seeing him live in my teens was the most exciting event in my life at that point. Goosebumps, electricity and joy came from every pore. His records still sound fresh and the opening few seconds of ‘Tutti Frutti’ are the most explosive in music history. … #RIP Little Richard.”
  • “I served soul food brunch to Little Richard every Sunday for a year while waitressing at Aunt Kizzy’s Back Porch in LA. I was a college student. He tipped me a crisp $100 bill each week on a $75 breakfast with friends. This was 30 years ago. Helped me so much. God rest his soul,” filmmaker Ava DuVernay tweeted.
  • “#LittleRichard was a genius, pure and simple. He paved the way for (code for he was ripped off by)so many artists. Watch his YouTube performances to see what I mean. I met him on Down and Out in Beverly Hills”, in which he was hilarious. What a legacy. God bless you, Richard,” Bette Midler tweeted.

May he rest in peace…..
