Who Is The Alt-Right?

A new term that has appeared on the American political landscape…..alt-Right.

Basically is an attempt by some to give the hate mongers like KKK, Neo-Nazis, skin heads, et al a more respectable title.

Call them what we may a hate filled douche is a hate filled douche.

But if you are interested then I have a source for you…..

With the rise in public visibility of far-right-wing militants in the U.S. following the events in Charlottesville, much of the public is scrambling to understand just what this movement is and what forces are driving it. With much of the public discussing strategies for how best to fight right-wing extremism, the need for constructive solutions is greater than ever.

First and foremost, it’s important to point out that public support for far-right extremists is miniscule. The vast majority of Americans reject this movement’s violence and hatred. According to a Marist survey from the summer of 2017, just 4 percent of Americans said they support “white supremacy movement” or “white nationalism.” Similarly, just 6 percent embraced the term “alt-right.” Still, there is a legitimate concern that support for right-wing bigotry may grow in the future if left unchecked.

Hopefully that filled in some blanks for people that were not sure what the Hell was meant when alt-Right is used.

Gotta Get Outta This Place

MY office has been called the “Crypt” by my daughter and my wife….it is a small spot in the house….dark and isolated from the rest of the building.  This is where I do most of my writing, reading and research….books everywhere….two desks…..a PC and a TV….chairs and coffee…..so why go anywhere else, right?

I will admit that I have been spending more time in my “Crypt” than elsewhere…..it is the perfect place for me to nurse my broken foot back to health (if ever)….but I have even seen just how much time I spend doing the things I enjoy…..since I am also an insomniac it is the perfect place as to not bother the rest of the house.

I have decided to take myself out of the”Crypt” more….so I will be cutting back my posting to 3 or 4 a day…..maybe less….depends on how I am feeling.  Plus my wife retires next week and I am sure that she has plans for us to do stuff.

I am at my best when I am in the “Crypt”……..So I will push back from what I do best, research, and re-join the human race.  Not all that thrilling of a thought for me but maybe a change will fire new a few new pistons in the brain.

This is probably a temporary situation but I just wanted to let my regulars know as to keep them up to date.  I do not want to disappoint those loyal readers.

So please bear with me and I will get it all sorted out…..peace out….chuq

Top 10 Traitors

Every time a Right winger does not like something a Leftie does or says and the “T” word is trotted out……Traitor!

WE all probably have our list of traitors….of course the first prick to come to mind is Benedict Arnold…..but can you name any others?

Black’s Law Dictionary defines “treason” as” attempting to overthrow the government of the state to which one owes allegiance, either by making war against the state or by materially supporting its enemies.” Submitted here are ten people who did their level best to see that America couldn’t celebrate her official birthday. And yes, this list is “too American.”

Number 10 on this list….Jane Fonda……

During the height of the Vietnam war in 1972, film starlet Jane Fonda visited North Vietnam and shilled for the North Vietnamese government, screeching that American prisoners of war (POWs) were being treated humanely. She then went on to condemn all US soldiers as “war criminals”. On hearing that many POWs claimed to have been tortured, Fonda denounced them as “liars”. She encountered no legal or professional repercussions upon her return to the US, but claims to deeply regret her actions today. How nice for her.

An interesting list….but to me not accurate.

For instance Aaron Burr was charged with treason but never convicted….legally he is not a traitor.

To me before one can be labeled a traitor one must be convicted of the crime.

If not then it is so much talk.

Anyone you want to add to the list?

Puerto Rico, Stop Whining!

Our president is on another road trip….this time he goes to Puerto Rico to address the citizens and the world on the relief efforts.

I am about at wits end when it comes to this person….he is more clueless today that he was on the day he took office…is that possible?

It is reported that he stated the Puerto Rico should be glad that it was not a Katrina type storm.  Trump tried to downplay the devastation by telling Puerto Ricans that their disaster wasn’t a real catastrophe like Hurricane Katrina.

The President said, “Every death is a horror, but if you look at a real catastrophe like Katrina, and you look at the tremendous — hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people that died, and you look at what happened here, with really a storm that was just totally overpowering, nobody’s ever seen anything like this. What is your death count as of this moment? 17? 16 people certified, 16 people versus in the thousands.”

What kind of uneducated dolt makes statements like is?  Trying to make unbalanced comparisons does nothing to help the situation.  It is juvenile to make such a comparison.

I rode out Katrina in my home….and the devastation was horrendous but as devastating as Puerto Rico….at least we still had water and gas service in most regions.  It was stupid to make that comparison.

Then he had to go and try to make things worse by blaming Puerto Rico for any budgetary problems we may have….

“Every death is a horror,” President Trump said Tuesday while meeting with local and federal officials at Muniz Air National Guard Base in Puerto Rico, but other remarks he made weren’t quite so heavy. While discussing his administration’s response to the devastation on the island, he quipped, “I hate to tell you, Puerto Rico, but you’ve thrown our budget a little out of whack because we’ve spent a lot of money on Puerto Rico, and that’s fine.” The AP reports he was referencing the island’s $74 billion in debts and decade-old recession.

What a buffoon!  what about the money spent on Texas and Florida….these somehow were budget neutral?  What is Florida and Texas more of a citizenship thing?

BTW, Mississippi was in budgetary crisis during Katrina and no one blamed the state for the storm or the cost of the assistance………and relief was sent anyway.

If so will someone tell this bozo that the people of Puerto Rico are American citizens.  They may be brown and speak Spanish but Citizens nonetheless.

Maybe he should just stay at his golf club and try to keep his feet out of his mouth.  NOTHING he has said so far has done anything to make the recovery easier.

Where Are the Brave Military Voices Against Forever War?

I am a devout antiwar supporter….it comes from my time in the mud in the paddies of SE Asia…..I see a lot of the same mistakes being made all over again….and yet NO one will step up and point out the worthless, useless efforts being made to NOT end a war.

For 16 years we have been sending our people to do what needs to be done by the people of the different countries…..someone needs to speak up…..

Christmas, 1914: Nearly a million men are already dead, and the war is barely four months old.  Suddenly, and ultimately in unison, the opposing German and British troops begin singing Christmas carols. At first light, German troops emerge unarmed from their trenches, and walk out into “no-man’s land.” Despite fearing a ruse, the Brits eventually joined their sworn enemies in the churned earth between the trench lines. Carols were sung, gifts of cigarettes exchanged—one man even brought out a decorative tree. It only happened once. Though the bloody, senseless war raged across three more Christmases, the officers on each side quashed future attempts at a holiday truce. And yet, for that brief moment, in the ugliest of circumstances, the common humanity of Brits and Germans triumphed. It must have been beautiful.

Ultimately, nearly ten million men would die in battle. For all that, little was settled. It rarely is.  The ruling classes still ruled, the profiteers profited, and Europe went to war again not twenty years later. So it went, and so it goes.

Soldiers follow orders….they do not analyze them….they follow them….your loudest voices against war will come from ex-soldiers….not active military.
