Trump: The Outsider Goes Inside

The people fell for the DC outsider con.  Trump promised to break the cycle of corruption of the political establishment when elected….so far to me it is looking like the con worked……he won the electoral college and has become the 45th president of the USA.

Now comes the formation of his administration….I have said that it will be very telling to see how and who he picks for the various positions of government.

Since he has zero experience in governing….how will he pick the people to run the country?

It appears that he will go the way of all politicians…..he will go to the Washington insiders……

As Donald Trump finishes his campaign with a promise to break the control of Washington by political insiders, his transition team is preparing to hand his administration over to a cozy clique of corporate lobbyists and Republican power brokers.“Our movement is about replacing a failed and corrupt political establishment with a new government controlled by you the American people,” Trump says in his closing campaign advertisement, followed by flashing images of K Street, Wall Street, and Goldman Sachs Chief Executive Lloyd Blankfein. But the Trump transition team is a who’s who of influence peddlers, including: energy adviser Michael Catanzaro, a lobbyist for Koch Industries and the Walt Disney Company; adviser Eric Ueland, a Senate Republican staffer who previously lobbied for Goldman Sachs; and Transition General Counsel William Palatucci, an attorney in New Jersey whose lobbying firm represents Aetna and Verizon. Rick Holt, Christine Ciccone, Rich Bagger, and Mike Ferguson are among the other corporate lobbyists helping to manage the transition effort.

That is one promise broken……how many will follow?

In his acceptance speech he said….”I will not let you down”…..if this is fact then it is too late….he already has…..and is not even prez yet.

I will bet that the supporters will make a good “excuse” for this lie…….can anyone say “apologist’?

I will take a much needed break tomorrow….it is Veterans Day and I will be posting nothing but vet posts…..enjoy my friends…..

2016: The Circular Firing Squad

I have been reading about who did this terrible thing and why…..fingers are pointing in all directions……blame is being spread like bad peanut butter…..

Let’s look at what is being said….since the GOP won the big enchilada we will begin with them……

Because she led in the polls from the beginning of the race to the end, and because of assumptions, widely shared throughout the political world, about demographic trends in the United States, nearly everything I’ve written about this campaign until now was based on the assumption that Hillary Clinton would defeat Donald Trump for the presidency.

Much of it looks foolish now, of course. And there will be plenty of time for recrimination in the weeks and months ahead. How much of this upset was due to the political media’s obsession with Clinton’s email practices and to its underplaying of Trump’s proto-fascism? How much of it was the FBI director’s late intrusion into the presidential race, raising the alarmist and ultimately inaccurate sense that Clinton was guilty of a crime? How much of it was Republican-led voter suppression in states like North Carolina (enabled by John Roberts’s Supreme Court gutting the Voting Rights Act)? How much of it was Gary Johnson and Jill Stein? How much of it was Clinton herself?

Interesting huh?

And now what have the “liberals” done to bring about this defeat?

The earth has been shifting under our feet for a while, but all liberals want to do is desperately cling to the status quo like a life-raft. Middle-class Britons are still hyperventiliating about Brexit, and now middle-class America is trembling at the prospect of Donald Trump in the White House.

And, of course, middle-class Americans are blaming everyone but themselves. Typifying this blinkered self-righteousness was a column yesterday, written before news of Trump’s success, from Guardian journalist Jonathan Freedland, Britain’s unofficial stenographer to power and Washington fanboy. He blamed everyone but Hillary Clinton for her difficult path to what he then assumed was the White House.

Of course there is the litany of accusations against anyone that voted for a third party……but the real story is that the pollsters and pundits got it wrong….wrong….WRONG.

A closing thought……

In 2016, self-described conservatives, the supposed defenders of the eternal verities, our national traditions, and family values, are rallying to the side of a cretinous, amoral lecher and thief. And liberals, the friends of the little guy and advocates of friendship among all races of men, are siding with a desiccated grifter and war hawk.

Pundits have a lot of explanations for the terrifying, depressing mess that is the 2016 presidential election. Some of my liberal friends say this year is explained by the return of backlash politics. They say that in American history every corresponding gain in the rights and esteem of racial minorities is met with a reassertion of white supremacy. Others point to how the parties have become more polarized, and how swing voters are disappearing. I’ve pointed to the way Republican politics have failed their heartland voters, noting that these Americans took their revenge on the establishment and a conservative movement that was disconnected from its clients.

Donald:  Be Prepared For This

First let me say that I do NOT agree with this type of “yellow journalism”….but it is a main stay in American society and I offer it up to warn the Trump people of what is to come……

We are a country that loves to hate…..and a country that hangs on every word from some random reality show that we call politics……the Right wing haters used this type of crap to try and discredit… prepared for a “payback”……

Just like the list published by right wing nut jobs about the people the Clintons killed….or that Obama was gay and married to a man… bullshit from lesser  minds……..but you expect it from those with no moral compass…… will this type of “yellow journalism” be a regular occurrence?….cowards will attack the wife of the president for they are cowards…..

(I was going to use a photo to try and get readers….but I refuse…if you want to know what this is about then click on the link)

Here’s the nation’s would-be first lady — and right beside her, a second lady.

Three years before she met husband Donald Trump, Melania Trump was snapped in a nude frolic with another female model, bombshell photos obtained exclusively by The Post show.

The lesbian-themed pics are from a two-day photo shoot in Manhattan in 1995, when Melania Knauss, as she was called, was 25 years old and modeling under the name “Melania K.”

(Photographer Alé de Basseville later told The Post that he misspoke, and the photo session actually took place in 1996 in Manhattan, and appeared in a 1997 issue of the magazine.)

Anyone that is a regular reader of IST knows that I do not normally go in for this sort of smear campaign….but this election showed just how far some will go…..I find this type of “reporting” distasteful…..and again this is just a sample of what some will do and how far they will go to discredit……don’t forget the “birther” morons……

There is NO need for this type of smear……and I mean for anyone…..but I would imagine that the Right will be outraged and the liberals will be disgusted……but few will condemn……

This sort of stuff should be condemned by everyone with the slightest bit of morals left….

I apologize for this but it is what will be coming in the months and years ahead……remember all the hateful crap said about Mrs. Obama….if so then be prepared for this.

How Could Anybody Be So Damn Wrong?

One more time before I  move on…….

The question is being asked on how the polls could be so wrong….and most do not remember they were just as wrong in 2012…but few want to remember the past…..

Just a quick breakdown and the finger pointing (which I truly love)……

The prevailing question the morning after Donald Trump’s stunning victory is: How did so many get it so wrong? An “absolutely unreal” “Chance of Winning Presidency” graphic on the New York Times’ forecasting page Tuesday evening showed Trump ascending from a 20% chance of winning the White House to near certainty within a few hours. USA Today says the upset dealt a “devastating blow” to the nation’s leading pollsters, which had Clinton mostly ahead overall in the months leading up to the election, including in battleground states. Some ideas as to why:

  • The director of USC’s Center for Economic and Social Research tells USA Today human pollsters may have been at a disadvantage. “There’s some suggestion that Clinton supporters are more likely to say they’re a Clinton supporter than Trump supporters are to say they’re a Trump supporter.”
  • The president of the British Polling Council agrees, telling the Telegraph—which makes the inevitable Brexit comparison—that the UK has witnessed a similar phenomenon in that those who don’t like to reveal their “political sympathies” are more often conservative than liberal.
  • Politico offers a couple of possible reasons for the surprise switch, including surveys that maybe undersampled non-college-educated whites, as well as the “surge in momentum” Trump got when the FBI announced it was looking into Clinton-related emails just days before the election.
  • The Economist gets deeper into the numbers weeds, noting there can be a significant mismatch when trying to figure out two important variables: the demographics of the electorate, and the anticipated vote for each group.
  • To wit: “Rural America is basically screaming at us, saying, ‘Stop overlooking us!'” said NBC News’ Chuck Todd Tuesday night, and the network reports that was backed up. Clinton hit her mark in cities, while Trump exceeded expectations in rural and formerly urban districts.
  • Australia’s ABC documents some of the pollsters “now eating humble pie.” Among them: a “reflective” Nate Silver and Princeton ace Sam Wang, who in mid-October tweeted, “It is totally over. If Trump wins more than 240 electoral votes, I will eat a bug.”
  • Meanwhile, those who reported on the polling results are also taken to task by the New York Times, which notes the news media “by and large missed … the story of a lifetime,” including the “boiling anger” of a good number of Americans upset with their perceptions of the economy, the DC establishment, and the mainstream media.

The one thing that no one wants to admit….their arrogance!  They were so damn arrogant that they believed their own spin….but never fear they have learned nothing……they failed in 2012 and again in 2016…..but there is a couple of years to go and the American voter has a very short memory…..

And then there are those that saw this coming….and we choose to ignore their input……

One of the most common questions being asked Wednesday is how pollsters and pundits managed to be so wrong about Donald Trump. Well, not everybody was wrong:

  • The Los Angeles Times/University of South California tracking poll consistently had Trump in the lead through the final months, often to much derision. As USA Today notes, of 61 polls tracking a two-way race since October, only six put Trump in the lead—and all were from the LA Times/USC. (But even the LA Times‘ own electoral map predicted a landslide for Clinton on the eve of the election.)
  • Back in September, American University history professor Allan Lichtman predicted a Trump victory based on a system that involves 13 true/false statements. One caveat: Lichtman’s system predicts the winner of the popular vote, and Trump may yet lose that. Still, coming into this year, he’s been perfect since 1984. In September, he spoke to the Washington Post.
  • Stony Brook political science professor Helmut Norpoth predicted Trump would be the next president. He says his model, which assesses candidates’ performances in the primaries, would have gotten every election right since 1912 except for 2000. See the New York Post.
  • Two other tracking polls that consistently had Trump performing better than in most national surveys were from Rasmussen Reports and Investor’s Business Daily, reports Politico.
  • On Monday, an outfit called the Democracy Institute published a poll with Trump up 5 points and “Poised For Electoral College Win.” The institute’s press release that day boasted that its public poll was the only one to get Brexit correct.

Stats guru Nate Silver managed to be both right and wrong in a sense. His final assessment at FiveThirtyEight gave Clinton a 71% chance of victory, but he also pushed back hard against polls calling her a shoo-in and observed Sunday that she was “one state away from potentially losing,” notes the Washington Post. In other words, he covered his “backside,” writes Dana Milbank.

Maybe these people should be the “go to” people next time around…the biggies have been wrong on so many occasions that they are no longer trustworthy…..

Just a thought.

Trump’s Revolution

Voting over and Donald Trump has pulled off an amazing upset….an upset that was not seen by the so-called “experts”…..why?  They live in a bubble of their own making…..not interested in what the people want or need…..and it has finally come back to bite them hard in the ass…..

Donald Trump has done the unthinkable – unthinkable, that is, to the sneering elites: the “journalists” who have been spending their days snarking at Trump on Twitter, the DC mandarins who disdained him from the beginning, and the foreign policy “experts” who gasped in horror as he challenged the basic premises of the post-World War II international order. And he did it by overcoming a host of the most powerful enemies one could conjure: The Republican Establishment, the Democratic party machine, the Money Power, and a media united in their hatred of him.

That this is a revolution is a bit of an understatement: revolutions are usually national in scope. This is an earthquake that will shake the whole world.
