Don’t Settle For The Lesser Of Two Evils

I have been bitching about the two candidates that we here in this country have to choose from for our next president……that is only true in the minds of the two worthless candidates….we Americans have other choices…..all we have to do is look for them.

Me?  I look at the issues and so far the issues are non-existent in the two major parties……instead of substance we have a silly reality show of insults and lies……….

For me the Green party offers the only alternative to a noxious buffoon on the one hand, and a representative of the corporate and military status quo on the other.

Donald Trump’s self-inflicted wounds and propensity for public meltdowns had pushed the public-opinion needle toward Hillary Clinton, according to recent polls. That may have changed a little in the aftermath of the FBI’s renewing of its email probe last week. But even so, the fears of many voters that a Donald Trump presidency might become a reality have abated.

Those fears are not unfounded. Trump’s failings as a candidate and a person are manifest, and he would be in a position to wreak considerable havoc if elected. That’s especially true at the agency level, with the judiciary and in other arenas where the president can wield executive power. The wildcard aspect of his personality poses risks that can’t be predicted, nor can anyone know the degree to which congress would be inclined to obstruct or approve his most damaging initiatives.

If you truly care about your country then for God’s sake do some research and find a party and a candidate that will work to better the nation….not some toad that is on an ego trip.

2016: Go Ahead Throw ‘Em A Bone

With the election quickly making its way into the psyche of the American people and among my readers there are a few supporters of Donald Trump…..I know I have not been kind to him or for that matter to the other candidate either…..but I like to keep what few readers I have happy…..so from time to time I will throw them a bone…….

There is this professor that is to have supposedly predicted the presidential winner accurately for the last 30 years and this time he is calling the race for….wait for it……Trump.

A professor who has accurately predicted the victor of every White House race since 1984 is not budging from his bet that Donald Trump will win this year.

“By the narrowest of possible margins, the keys still point to a Trump victory,” Allan J. Lichtman, professor of history at American University, told The Washington Post in an interview published Friday.

Lichtman told the newspaper his system revolves around a set of 13 true or false statements about the party currently holding the White House.

The scholar said if six or more statements are false, the incumbent party loses the presidency come Election Day.

“Early on, the keys were inconclusive,” Lichtman said of the 2016 race. “And since that time, that sixth key has turned against the Democrats.”

The decisive factor, he says, is the strength of third-party candidates. Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson could siphon off 5 percent or more of the popular vote, based on current polling.

There you go my friends….consider this a positive bone….just for you guys….

You are welcome!

What Is Missing In The News?

Content for one!

I have been bitching about thew media’s coverage during this season as a worthless waste of time….all they cover is the stupid trying to outdo stupid….no coverage of the issues that we need to hear about before we make our choice.

I have tried to stay away from the absolute moronic rants of the candidates that serve no purpose as much as possible but it has been an uphill battle to find something they say as important.

So when I read about this new study of the media’s coverage or the lack of coverage on the issues I was glad to see that I was right all along…..

Walking away from a long-standing tradition of covering issues and presidential policies during campaign season, the network evening newscasts have all but abandoned that type of reporting this year, according to recent tabulations from Tyndall Report, which for decades has tracked the flagship nightly news programs.

Since the beginning of 2016, ABC’s World News Tonight, CBS Evening News and NBC Nightly News have devoted just 32 minutes to issues coverage, according to Andrew Tyndall.

Differentiating issues coverage from daily campaign coverage where policy topics might be addressed, Tyndall defines issues coverage by a newscast this way: “It takes a public policy, outlines the societal problem that needs to be addressed, describes the candidates’ platform positions and proposed solutions, and evaluates their efficacy.”

The other sad thing is that the people, the voters, did not stand up and demand better issue coverage they got sucked into the reality TV mentality and have been stuck there for over a year…..

Another odd thing is that most descent journalist see this disturbing situation but they cannot break away from it for you see they live or die on air by ratings ….and this reality mentality feeds the ratings……

We have NO one to blame but ourselves…

God help this country!

2016: Slip Sliding Away

A week away and as usual any third party candidates start taking heat from the press and the idiots that support the 2 major candidates……but not being one that will bow to the constant ribbing from those of lesser minds I will continue to report on the “other” candidates.

This time around it is Gary Johnson of the Libertarian Party…..he was up in some areas as much as 10% but has slowly but slowly slid down the charts…..the closer the day comes the less support he seems to have…..

Gary Johnson has been making a valiant go of it, but the Libertarian Party’s candidate for president is starting to see his numbers slip away at the polls—or, as the Boston Globe puts it, “Gary Johnson is no longer a thing.” Politico reports that about half of his supporters have abandoned ship over the last two months, from an almost 10% polling average in September to about 5.6% more recently. And that means that although Johnson could still raise some dust and complicate matters for the two major-party candidates in states where third parties have historically done well, it doesn’t look definite he’s going to have a significant impact on the race, as Ralph Nader did in two states in 2000 (and Nader’s poll numbers were less than half that of Johnson’s in late August of their respective election years, per FiveThirtyEight).

Johnson’s numbers began to drop after he didn’t qualify for the first presidential debate in September. His standing has also been affected by the fact that polls are now looking more closely at likely voters, not just registered ones: A CNN/ORC poll from this weekend, for example, gave Johnson a 5% among registered voters, but only 3% for those likely to show on Election Day (down from 7% three weeks earlier). And the Globe notes Johnson’s flubbedforeign policyremarks likely haven’t helped, either. But Intelligencer says this “crash” is “right on schedule,” as third-party candidates in years with close races tend to start seeing declining numbers as the election nears. If Johnson can hold on to 5%, he could earn federal funding for the Libertarian Party in 2020.

I can understand why he might be more popular this election than in a normal year….he stands where most Repubs stand and the GOP has shown that it will not support Trump….well that is the line but they will come around and like most cowards will bow to conventional pressure and vote straight GOP ticket……

At least Johnson and Stein are talking issues while the other two are focusing on the sideshow situations that have NOTHING to do with this election….

And as usual Americans, most Americans, will vote for the biggest ass-wad and then bitch about it for 4 years……I can hardly wait.

Why Recycle Campaign Ads?

Let the election countdown begin…….7 and counting.

I was a young non-voting participant in the 1964 election and during that election I remember one special political ad……the Daisy Girl ad…

In case you were too young to remember …..

Yes it is an old ad and why do I bring it up now?

It appears that Clinton has decided to resurrect this ad for her own purposes……

Personally I think it is a cheap shot….but in an election year that is full of cheap shots I guess they cannot do any better……

Back in 1964 it was a timely ad…..today it is just a lame attempt by a struggling candidate……
