I can recall back in the campaigns of 2012 there were names that got all the attention….names like Paul, Santorum and Perry….back in those days these few along with the Newt and Mitt got hours upon hours of coverage……they were the future of the GOP.
What the Hell happened?
Mitt decided to forego another disastrous campaign….Newt is busy making money……it is the beginning of 2016 campaign and names like Paul, Perry and Santorum cannot buy some attention……Lord knows they have tried.
All the oxygen of this election primaries is being sucked up by Trump with a more quiet Carson running a close second in a national poll.
This same poll, taken by PPP, finds the Big Dogs from 2012 cannot break the 3% approval rating…….
(image from MSNBC)
One of the big dogs from the 2008 campaign, Huckabee, can barely manage a 5% approval……
The question on most analysts tongue is….what the Hell is going on?
The common consensus is that the American people are fed up with the antics of past politicians……promises unfulfilled…….games played……and the total sleaziness of the candidates.
Will this continue? Will the American voter continue this distaste for the ‘normal’ and elected a total outsider? Will the voter fall for vague statements with NO defined ideas?
This will be an election to watch, if there was ever one, for the outcome will define America for the next decade and beyond. Will we return to the status we held 50 years ago or will we be a country floundering around mundane ideas with No hope of salvation?
The answers are in the hands of the American voter……will the country elect a leader or a ring master?

I continue to keep my vow of not contributing to the Reality TV show that is American
politicspolitics-entertainment. My slogan, “No 2016 until it’s 2016. One whole year is far more than enough!”But talking about Trump is fine because he’s not actually running. Unless the Republicans just hand him the nomination, he’ll find a way to bail out before Iowa. Until then, this attention seeking con-man will just bask in the media spotlight. That’s all he ever wanted out of this. And we’re all stupid enough to give it to him. Why? Because of the Political-Entertainment Complex has taken over American politics.
1) The “News” Media seeks to generate even more profit, not by doing their jobs better, but by doing them worse. Covering actual news and explaining issues to the mouth breathing, knuckle-dragging, public is as hopeless as it is expensive. These fucktards have the attention spans of goldfish http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/canadians-now-have-shorter-attention-span-than-goldfish-thanks-to-portable-devices-microsoft-study and can’t even put their fucking devices down when they take a shit.
It’s much easier & cheaper to hand the microphone to a narcissistic clown willing to say anything to draw attention. Everybody knows Trump thinks Mexicans are rapists and what toppings were in the burrito Hillary ordered. But how many know Mexican drug cartels are getting help from the CIA? Not even the folks who watch “news” channels all day. http://www.thenewamerican.com/world-news/north-america/item/17396-u-s-government-and-top-mexican-drug-cartel-exposed-as-partners
Just like Permanent War, the media makes lots of ad revenue from Permanent Elections. The longer an election takes and the more expensive it becomes, the better their bottom line. So why cover news nobody is interested in when you can show entertaining horse races that make you even richer?
As for the “new/social media”, they stop posting pictures of what they ate for lunch just long enough to see one of Trump’s poop-projectiles from The Twit Zone. Trump knows where America’s mind is at. Short, simple and stupid. Enter The Donald.
2) The American Mind is a noisy traffic traffic jam of utterly meaningless bullshit. And they LIKE it that way. The Powers That Be? They LOVE it that way! It lets them do exactly what they want. (robbin’, stealin’ & killin’) If it doesn’t involve tits, techno-toys, or idiots throwing dung at each other, the public doesn’t want to hear it. “Thinky stuff? Serious stuff? Fuck dat shit!”
Enter The Donald. He’s rich. He’s famous. He has every toy imaginable. He has girlfriends young enough to be his granddaughter. He says all kinds of angry & hilarious shit. He has a Reality TV show and he swears at people in press conferences. If you have to pay 15 seconds to “boring politics” every 4 years, he’s your man!
3) The Proffesional Leaches Political advisors (think: Vietnam “advisors” complete with “War Rooms”) have turned what should take 5-6 months TOPS into full time employment. From the moment they’re elected, members of Congress spend a majority of time begging for money from The Riches to prepare for the next election. They don’t have time for anything for its own sake (ie education, poverty) but for what their team of “experts” tell them it will do for their image come election time.
Enter The Donald. He has no job that he can lose. He has enough money pay for his own campaign. He can say whatever his audience wants to hear with no fear of repercussion from anyone. Ultimately, he doesn’t have to please anyone other than himself. Which he is GREAT at.
American politics is now just a goddamn minstrel show! Enter The Donald…in blackface!
Damn! The perfect analysis of the election crap so far…..well done my friend, well done…..chuq
Thanks…And I ain’t even watching ANY of it!!! (Well, minus Comedy Central.) The trick is to understand how the system works. Once you do that, predicting it becomes so much easier. The rest is just theatre of the really, really, absurd.
All I really know about 2016 is that Trump is “winning” a very crowded race, one that doesn’t actually start for another 6 months or so. Hell, with all these wrinkled, old, Republicans running, a couple candidates could die of old age before election day. Meanwhile, Canuckistan’s longest election in 100 years will be over months before the first Primary is held. Unsurprisingly, not a single Trump in the mix. (We deported Ted Cruz to you.)
Which just goes to show how “important” this pre-game bullshit is. (recall: “Shucky ducky! 999!”) Yet every election, everybody gets sucked into it. It’s like those damn iDiots who line up for the new stupid-phone on the 1st day its on sale. Or these damn NFL “tailgaters” who are drunk in the parking lot even before the sun comes up.
We now have almost 2 years of speculation/hype before the 1st vote is taken. And that vote, plus New Hampshire’s, don’t even total 1-2% of PRIMARY votes to be cast. Meanwhile, actual important shit goes completely ignored (as explained above). It’s a system that perpetuates itself.
Thus my vow of abstinence. I know how its all going to end anyway. (Prediction: Hillary wins an ugly, multi-billion dollar, largely issue-less, race against some Republican douche that shouldn’t have been nearly as close as it was, thus resulting in 4-8 more years of Obama-like conditions.)
At this point your prediction sounds pretty accurate…..we will elect a ring master not a president…
Something bigger than the electorate will select the next president. The election is a production … a show … something to appease the rabble and to keep them convinced they are still living in a Representative Democratic Republic … What Wall Street wants, Wall Street will get and that means a continuation of the arch typical mess than began in 2008 and continues to this day.
John, we agree totally on this issue…..the voters can make a difference but then the question is….do they want to do so? chuq
They have been intentionally kept in the dark about issues.
We need to re-institute “Civics” classes in the Education System.
Most people on the street are more or less politically illiterate. Don’t believe it? Go out and ask some strangers some questions and behold all the blank stares you receive in return.
Somebody has done a good job of dumbing down the electorate.
John, you will get no argument from me on the “illiterate” thing….I could not agree more….US political education sucks…..chuq
I totally agree on the “illiteracy” issue. I’m appalled at the responses (or lack thereof) I receive when I start a conversation about politics. It’s either people are interested or they’re not. Simple. There is too much apathy. People are lazy, as a whole; unfortunately, for our nation. And, I also agree that it’s too early to get all excited about the “candidates” and the debates. Right now, we’re being entertained to some extent, if you want to call it that.
It is a great comedy unfolding….
