Let’s face it, Israelestine has really been one state for several decades. Israel has occupied Palestine for longer than most Palestinians have been alive and shows no indication whatsoever of ever releasing its grip.
I now think there will never be 2 states, just one state and a state that exists at the pleasure of the other state. Palestine will never be allowed true sovereignty because they might choose to do something Israel doesn’t want them to do. They only want a state that will do what they want it to.
Perhaps it’s time for Israel to annex Palestine (or “merge” the 2 nations) and grant full rights of citizenship to Palestinians. Crazy? Yeah, but less crazy than the perpetual occupation. Getting rights, jobs, social programs etc, might just pacify a whole lot of people.
